@Kareem Easley J Dilla is my favorite producer of all time. His production on those albums are amazing. That’s really cool that those were your first cds. I want to get beats, rhymes and life on cd one of these days.
This was actually the first Pharcyde album I heard, from a friend in 2001. I was 16 and I was a skater/punk kid. This album was my gateway into hip hop - I now listen to almost nothing else. Even though LabCab is their magnum opus, this album has a special place in my heart.
tothe2ndpow according to the media, labcab is never mentioned besides runnin and drop, i agree that labcab is miles ahead of bizarre ride, but since they changed their style from unique and fun(what made them popular) to serious and mature, not a lot seemed to care when they found out they dropped that and moved on, i definitely think that if instead of coming out with bizarre ride they came with labcab, not a lot would give a damn

Love the production on this album. Maybe Plain Rap doesn't reach the heights of Bizarre Ride or Labcabincalifornia, and Fatlip is missed, but it's a massively slept on album.
I did not know Much about the.pharcyde Til i saw one of their videos the last year...now i know all of their discography...i confirm these guys did what hip hop needs to be right now.
Man pharcyde is too good. Been listening to labcabin for 2 weeks now and decided to give this project a listen and maaan they becoming my favorite hip hop group.
You guys should see the smile on my face...I used to have this Cd untill someone broke into my ford aerostar and stole all of my GOOD music..its ok though. Dayum these cats made it so fun to live in California.
i didn't like half this album when it first came out, but compared to what's out now, this sounds WAY better than it really is. Fatlip was needed. he wouldn't KILLED the Frontline beat.
RUclips music is way better than spotify for hip hop & electronic stuff Spotify kept removing albums & tracks from 90s Hip Hop artists, I just cancelled that shit
Thanks for the upload! They need to put this on Spotify. It's solid. Also, that Fatlip + Slimkid3 track "All I Want for Xmas (Is Somebody Else)". That's dope. Too many Delicious Vinyl tracks not on Spotify.
Interesting, I have two versions of this album. In the first instance I bought the standard one and I was disappointed that it didn't have the remix of Trust. However, I did eventually get the other one with the remix of Trust. I listened to both versions and they are very different as most of the tracks are slightly longer/enhanced, or there is an extra track on one version (e.g. L.A.). What I did was pick the best tracks from each versions and the playing time for the album is over an hour. I must admit this is one of their best works out there (it's a shame that Fat Lip left the group when this album dropped).
@@forcedtohaveahandle yea totally agree, for me they deserved way more recognition, personally labcabincalifornia is one of the few albums that i can listen to without a skipping any track
Huge Pharcyde fan, but I must admit that when I initially purchased this album in the early 2000s, I was a little disappointed. It has some dope tracks, but early on, I felt that something was missing -- it seemed as if the album lacked energy, and they weren't having fun on it like their previous projects. I probably went a good three or four years without playing it again. When I played the album again years later, I appreciate it more. This is a solid album, and I don't regret buying it.
This Album: As Dope as it is and I can find TRU Pharcyde Vibe in it; it is also a true example of how focusing on the wrong target can ruin a TRU INFINITE CLASSIC Group💯 Pharcyde was WeeD/Marijuana Influenced To Much and the lost their Brotherhood Togetherness💯 Hip Hop suffered as a result and of course "US" TRUE FANS suffered! Now.... #HiPHoPIzDeaD💯
They can hold it without Fatlip but he is still sorely missed here. It just feels like the definition of a "this going to be their last great one" kind of album which is really depressing. The fact that they made another album after Trey left just makes me laugh, those two are completely irreplaceable.
Humboldt Beginnings? I think "Knew U" and "Illusions" are pretty good songs. A friend of mine told me once about how he found a copy of the album in some store. He immediately bought it cuz he thought Pharcyde broke up in like 97'. He likes the beats but he also thinks the album is forgettable cuz Tre and Fatlip are missing. I agree with him.
Ah, Plain Rap, AKA the "just do yourself a favor and skip to Frontline" album . - Depending on the track I feel like Slimkid carries the group pretty hard.
Slimkid and Fatlip were always my faves. But I always felt like Imani and Booty Brown enjoyed being in the group the most, hence why they stuck around and carried the name on after the others left. It's a shame they broke up because they were great together.
Them odd digi keys on network on some ole megaman 2 best soundtrack ever type ish....not the best song...BUT its very very genre expanding and eye opening ....
the beats seem plain..unrecognizable, prolly trying to avoid royalty charges is they sampled but, idk about this album..still comparably okay..smokin blants
Oilerua Aiarag Dude, they had MUSICIANS in their group...of course they're unrecognizable. Open your ears my man....wherever you are right now, close your eyes and listen.
At this time , the group was doing features on movie soundtracks like " The Sixth Man " . Meanwhile , Tre Hardson was producing an album for 90210 star Brian Austin Green entitled " One Stop Carnival " , which came out in 1996. They took a very long hiatus , and didn't record again until 1998 . Around this time , they were having issues with Fatlip , and that's why he wasn't on this release .
