Some people actually wrap a couple layers of the bubble wrap and then ROLL cardboard around a couple times so you are basically making a box around the mug, then tape it up and shove it in a padded flat rate mailer. I've seen them do this in other videos but I've never attempted it yet. I'm researching, which is why I'm here. LOL I do use boxes inside padded FR mailers all the time tho so I just wanted to see how others did the mugs.
Have you ever had a mug get broken in the mail? I generally use a little larger box with more padding, Styrofoam if available but am still paranoid about the mug being broken, especially the handle. I've never considered using the flat rate padded envelope but may try it. My understanding is the only rule for flat rate mailers is that it has to seal with the adhesive strip provided and you can't add any additional tape to enhance the integrity of that seal. Lastly, I always apply a "Fragile" sticker next to the shipping label. Lot's of great info though, thanks for sharing and may you have a Happy & Prosperous 2024.
It is cheaper to go USPS first class package/ thick envelope. Ebay gives a 22% discount if you purchase the first class package label through them. I feel if I charge less for shipping, my item is more likely to sell. The last mug I shipped cost me $4. I think a flat rate padded envelope is over $7. Just a thought. 🤔
Omg. How can you ship something breakable in an envelope? I had an eBay seller do that to me and the item arrived crushed, and there wasn’t another identical item to replace the ruined one. It sucked.
Any tips on shipping multiple mugs together; I've received mug sets TWICE with broken off handles. I've recently listed some mug sets; they have a few watchers so I'm hopeful they will sell soon. Love the tip for tucking in the bubble wrap to the mugs handle - I never thought to do that!
I buy pool noodles at the dollar store, cut off a piece the height of the mug (I use an old steak knife), make a slit down the length of the piece and wrap it around the handle. Then I stuff the inside of the mug and wrap the whole thing in bubble wrap before putting in tge shipping box.
Thank you for your video but i tried the first methods for shipping my mug and they delivered broken into little pieces and they said it's my fault am confused
Wow, great Black Widow ad can't wait for the movie! I love those padded mailers. I use them for everything, they are especially good for Poshmark sales.
Hi Margaret, Do you ever just ship a smaller mug in the box WITHOUT the flat rate mailer and adjust your ship price to reflect first class versus priority from the get go knowing its a smaller mug or do you Always price your shipping at priority no matter what? Thanks as always, l always look forward to your videos!!!!
Here's the flat rate padded envelopes. There is also a legal size not padded. If it's in a box you can try that too, for a bigger size. And there is a few cents cheaper to mail, the regular size not padded flat rate too. store.usps.com/store/product/shipping-supplies/priority-mail-padded-flat-rate-envelope-P_EP14PE
Wouldn't it be cheaper to ship without the flat rate shipping envelope? Or is it cheaper this way with heavier mugs? Just curious--wouldnt have thought to do it this way. Thanks for the info.
I have wondered the same thing. It seems most mugs would be at 1 pound or under so that is usually $5 or below. She said she charges $8, Soo envelope is an extra step and adds to the cost. Of course, if customer is willing to pay that much it doesn't really matter.
@@lscolwell I'm wondering if she uses the flat rate envelope when the it ships far enough away to jack up the shipping to say $14. I didn't think of that when I first commented.
Thank you for this video. I'm nervous about boxing mugs cause I didnt know what size box I needed

I shipped one today and it cost me $9, I didnt think it would be so much. Thanks for sharing!
I didnt even think to throw it in a flat rate. Oh well, next time!

True. Plus, First Class typically arrives in about 3 days just like the Flat Rates.

@@janetpattison8474 You can put the box inside the envelope. Saw another RUclipsr do that.
1) your total wt must be under 16oz. Most mugs are 1 lb. + box+packing. 2)first class is not insured. If lost or damaged you are out of luck.
Yeah I was thinking the same. Would be way cheaper to just slap the label on the box and shit it in the box.

You need to do a video on What-A-Burger, lol. I miss my home Tyler, Texas.😝
This was so very helpful. What bubble wrap do you use? How much bubble wrap per cup. We are a ministry and shipping mugs for the first time.

Wow Thankyou that was so simple Thankyou so much 🙏🙏❤
You’re welcome 😊
I needed this and just shipped mugs out and defiantly cost me but it’s my fault so thank you for this video 😊
Hi girl! Can you please tell me the dimensions of the flat rate envelope? It looks bigger than the one I use and I can not put a box inside.

If the mug and box weighs less than a pound it’s cheaper to just mail first class isn’t it?
yes
The shipping cost is the reason why most people come and window shop in my stores
Do you do all your mailing from a PO box or home address? If I open a PO box, can I still schedule a pickup from my home address with USPS?
Yes. They will still pick up from home
@@TexasGalTreasures Thanks! Gonna get a PO Box
Where did you get your bubble wrap, in the video it almost looks like it’s slightly sticky or stays in the shape you bend it. I like that!
What size is the flat rate mailer?
Does a box inside a priority mail express padded envelope still work?
Yes
Should I get the starter package or basic package subscription for ebay?
What's the size of that padded flat rate envelope? TIA
Thank you so much for this video. It is very helpful!
I love you're videos and you are looking great!!!
Thanks Margaret! Love your videos :) the hello kitty mug .. how much shipping did you charge for it?
Found this very helpful!!!!
I think the envelope shrunk I can’t fit nothing in it
Love the video, thanks
This was really nice, thank you!! ♥️♥️♥️
Tyvm!!! Great content always!
Where do you get your bubble rap at?
Walmart/uline/office Max. Anywhere
are those Ebay boxes free or you have to buy them?

im going to ship a pint glass to germany, damn im scared
Thanks very helpful.
Doesn't that flat rate envelope cost $8+ to ship? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just ship in the box?
Nope
Video is 3 years old. They increase the rate since then
Link for supplies
Don’t see links for supplies
Peyton Love just added Thank you!!

Priority mail also has $50 insurance added in...
Wow there is a lady who puts paper in it and then wraps it and used lots of tape so I like your method better.
Doesn’t the cost of the shipping fall onto the customer?
Yes
So no profit then 😂
