- Brink still lives in my mind and I can't escape it even in 2022. I replayed it once again to check it out since a few commenters had said that they genuinely enjoyed this game. These guys be crazy. But maybe, just maybe...

This game was ahead of it’s time. Wall Run, Parkour, Slide, Peaking around Cover. I truly believe this game influenced many of the CoD games with certain mechanics
Ah so this is why CoD sucks. It all makes sense now.
I never thought this was a bad game, I enjoyed the heck out of it. I'd love to see a new one.

@@LemThurdy420 no it didn't. It's clear he's making fun of it. And he's not wrong about many of its flaws. But I still thought it was a fun game with some cool ideas, many of which have probably been done better by later games at this point.
That said, the super deep character customization was a great element i haven't seen in other games of this genre.

Splash Damage still exists and makes games, so there's a chance, since they own the IP, not Bethesda.
This was the last game my childhood best friend played with me before he moved to a different state. Tbh I didn’t even notice how bad the game was, I was just glad my friend was there.

This was the first game I ever pre-ordered and I remembered really enjoying it although Black ops eventually stole my heart. Is there any way to play this gem on Series S?

Yes, people thought the game was bad, and that was just the people that played it. The majority of people took one look, knew it was shit, and didn't even bother.

People love to pretend they liked something back in the day because of nostalgia.
I absolutely LOVED Brink, but it was built with a very strong tilt towards players who spent more time with the game. Newer players didn;t have access to the better guns and equipment.

Well my big complaints were a simple lack in diversity of game types. No death match not even a kill counter. The story and online were literally identical just one had horrible AI

This game was underrated. I remember randomly buying this game because it was a shooting game and I fw shooting games like Cod. I do not know what the game was about because I was only in 3rd grade. The game was fire. I still have it till this day.
The game was not what we were promised but 100% would have succeeded as a free to play or cheap title. At full price it’s understandable why so many missed out
I played this when I was a kid and am still in love with it. The game not delivering enough hype is just not true. It's fast paced, has a very interesting story, and the character customization and abilities chart are my favorite things about it.

I don't know... Brink was the first game I got on a hype train for. I assume you weren't around for all it's prerelease marketing? Not just that one cinematic trailer but lengthy discussions about gameplay decisions, what their goals were, lots of early footage...
The game somehow got *less* polished over time. I'm fairly sure they pulled the Ubisoft trick of totally prerendered, simulated "gameplay" because the animation quality of those early trailers was wonderful. The objectives were even more interesting.
Then the game came out, and it ran like hot garbage, and the maps were cramped to the point where a lot of the wacky class interactions just didn't apply, every map was a meat grinder. It only delivered on the concept in a hollow, very unfinished-feeling way.
It *should* have been the culmination of everything Splash Damage had made thus far, instead it was pretty mid by comparison, too janky to take the crown. Then Dirty Bomb happened and it was just a much less ambitious Brink which was... disappointing.

it was so much to do in this game and it was really immersive in 2011 as of compared to todays game are just run and shoot. I could play this game for hours and not get bored and still have so much to learn in the game.

This game was made 11 years ago, the only reason why the game seems so bad is because it was made for its own time.

Brink is one of my favorite games. It combines my favorite parts of an FPS. Parkour, custom classes and abilities, and a post apocalypse setting. I wish I could find something modder than hit thoes buttons

Idk bro. Brink was ahead of it time bro. It took tactics to a different level. It was pretty easy but challenging at the same time. I even loved the soundtrack. If they were to remaster and sell, it would do numbers.

Sometimes a bit of self reflection has made me go back to a game i intitially hated but then ended up loving. Sometimes i think a game is poor but then realise that maybe i wasnt in the mood for that particular style of game and give it another chance when i am in the mood.
I definitely agree with that sentiment. I've definitely had a few xbox 360 games that I went back to that are atleast a decade old an now I really enjoy them

I loved this game and now that I have a PC I will play it. Its still sad for me that the sequel was cancelled.
there's a game called dirty bomb that's on steam that was made by the same developers, I would highly recommend it, the official servers were shut down in 2019 or so but there's several community ran servers that you can still get into, it's not quite brink but it's closer than anything else I've played
@@alfhar3649 Dirty Bomb is a great game. Brink felt like a Singleplayer Team Fortress 2 in a way and Dirty Bomb is kind of like that too.

There was no shooter at the time with parkour as a core mechanic execept Brink and you can count Mirrors Edge too. Fast forward today, all big shooters has parkour.
I unlocked everything in this game in the same year of launch lmao.

It was an amazing game I loved it the story line and the fact that you can choose sides was amazing and it truly great for its time I’d love to see a brink or something similar it reminds me of over watch!😳😳
The action is pretty good I love the sound effects. And its very satisfying for anyone trigger happy. Even better when playing this and drinking a cup of coffee or an energy drink.
I used to play this at a friend's house. Was so damn happy to see it was free to play on Steam. It's a fun game. The story is genuinely intriguing.
Without the internet reviews, I would not probably know that it is a bad game. I was just having fun back then…now it’s 2023 and remembered this and surprised that the reviews are actually bad..reinstalling this at the moment to bring back childhood memories. I was probably 13-14 years old when I first played this
The character customization was epic that was enough for me. I really want to experience it again as it's nostalgic.

Bro I loved this game when I was a kid , this game kept me so entertained throughout the years I played it . I wasent old enough to know what the fuck a good game even looked like. This game is very dear to me
tbh brink was a game i truly enjoyed, even if i was bad because i was so young and didnt understand a lot of it even though i understood cod, i still loved how different brink felt, the customization, everything about the movement was super fun aswell. Brink was honestly ahead of its time.
I used to always play this game when I was little and while I was searching for a random game to download I saw it and the memory's just flooded back in
My mum bought this for me in a blockbuster used section in early 2012 and I loved it, when you’re a kid you value any game you have.
I remember maxing every class and doing every challenge to get all the weapons and attachments, looking back now I have no idea how I had the time for that some of these levels were so sweaty
I really enjoyed this game despite its flaws. Even after it had already died for the most part I got some full xbl parties together for it and it was glorious.

I was watching Handler play pug and he had an smg and somehow my brain said “Hey remember that one game you can parkour with smgs?” I was like holy shit! I searched the game till I found it and now I’m here.Honestly I got a feeling this game sparked so much ideas to game developers.It looks horrible but I still love the feelings I get from this game 😂

I wasn’t able to play fps games young cuz I grew up in a sheltered household, this was one of the first fps games I was able to get in store at like 14, I loved it and still have the physical disc. Wish there was a brink 2

I have fond memories of playing this on my 360, and grinding out dozens of hours to get "The Anger" set. Now that I look back on it, idk why they didn't try to make a Brink 2 after all this time.
It technically was a commercial success but I think it lost a lot of it's player base fairly quickly. Maybe they thought it would be too big of a risk.
@@UnderWaterDog I mean if they learned their lesson the first time, I can imagine the sequel being a successful revival of the series. It would need a twist, to stand out from their competitors though.

Yea I got this game at full price on my birthday many years ago. I don’t regret it. It’s very fun and I’ve fully played it through many many many times. The DLC is great and funny, and I desperately want either a remaster, remake, reboot, or sequel. Preferably remake. I also find myself deeply enamored with the story everytime I replay the game. It’s a fantastic concept that I haven’t seen done in any other form. Also, soundtrack is baller
I just remembered this game, I'll have it on Xbox360 back then, was there any real idea or was it just like u choose between ark and resistance and got 3 objectives with random maps thats it with same end. back then I just press play randomly and just play so dont remember xD
I got this game on clearance when I was a teenager and still had more time to play a lot of Xbox. I remember it being pretty okay! But absolutely nobody played it by that point and it became a distant memory.

Back when this game was being advertised, and hyped I was going to get it, but I guess I put it off for so long that it was 2022 before I could even play it. I guess I'm glad I didn't pay full price.
One of the games for me that stood out other than Cod and CS at the time, todays games like Valorant or Overwatch only really just reminded me of this game like "Wait ,why does these games look and feel so familiar to me.... Oh okay Brink"
You seriously Overwatch was influenced by Brink and not the actual good team based cartoony FPS that was in its prime when Brink came out?
@dtxspeaks268 Team Fortress wasn't really my kind of game before. Yes, i played it but just a handful of times because most players in our local computer shops back then were more focused on Dota or Counter Strike 1.6 (which i loved too) and not the very limited play style and cartoony game which is the Team Fortress. Meanwhile, i discovered Brink by accident, downloaded it via Utorrent (from Pirate Bay), and loved it instantly. Played hours on end, day after day (I play with bots) until one day my laptop broke and forgotten all about it.

Also BRINK iirc was one of the earliest games that really pushed Parkour with its fps gameplay.
