I thought of that movie when I watched this. I saw it in the theater in Sensurround. I still remember those commercials for it: "Earthquake - in Sensurround!!!" LOL

This episode just like all the others is very intriguing and suspenseful! Entertaining all the way in this scene of the Hulk saving Diane and even more intertaining is when Diane realized that David wasn't the real Dr. Patterson!!!! Very funny how she almost had David tounge twisted with him trying to act like the real Dr.Patterson and him almost loosing his words trying to convince her that he is Dr.Patterson. And of course with her knowing he wasn't Dr. Patterson is what made this episode one of the many episodes of the first season of the Hulk an EXPLOSIVE first season. The Hulk show couldn't have began any better. Battling gorrillas in the first season and bears along with a ruthless mob boss like MR. Elder, trying to fly a plane and the list goes on and on! Great first season and this earthquake episode perfectly defines that all the way!!!
Screwing around with nuclear power is what got Banner jammed up in the first place. Now he's causing earthquakes.

Seeing The Incredible Hulk series reminds me of how much Marvel Studios BURIED and EMBARRASSED the character. This show does Hulk justice both in character and story.
Ben is right insofar as Hulk is more powerful and monstrous than this series revealed. But the OP is correct insofar as this series gave Bruce and Hulk more character depth.
@Ben John in terms of Bruce as a character I like him in this show more than in the movie like Steve and Tony and Thor and Hawkeye have the most development out of everyone Bruce doesn’t have a good character moment like we know nothing about his past really other than his becoming the hulk and failed love life like we know Tony’s parents background and stuff

Despite the Hulk's death in the 1990 film, the movie's makers had intended from the start for him to return in The Revenge of the Incredible Hulk, again with Gerald Di Pego as writer. As of July 10, 1990, a script was being written.[1] It has been reported that the fourth film would have featured the Hulk with Banner's mind,[2] and that the project was canceled because of Bill Bixby's struggle with cancer,[3] but Di Pego has refuted both these claims as fan rumors, pointing out that Bixby's health had not yet begun to decline at the time the film was canceled. Di Pego said that the plot for The Revenge of the Incredible Hulk began with Banner being revived, but no longer able to change into the Hulk. Banner then begins to work for the government in order to prevent accidents like the one that turned him into the Hulk, but is captured by villains and coerced into turning their agents into Hulk-like beings. According to Di Pego, at the film's climax Banner would be forced to recreate the accident that transformed him into the Hulk in order to stop the villains' plans.[4]
The sequel was canceled because of the disappointing ratings for The Death of the Incredible Hulk.[4]

I love this scene at 10:07 where the Hulk caresses her hair, staring at her while trying to make sure if she’s okay after the massive earthquake erupted. This scene becomes sweeter at 10:22 where he grabs her hand and hold it gently. Trying to stay with her. 💚💚 The Green Goliath is such a beautiful sweetheart deep down.
I love how the producers of the Hulk series, pinched some of the earthquake scenes from the 1970s movie of the same name, starring Charlton Heston, Lorne Green etc. Sneaky.

In the story line, the Hulk was wanted for a murder he didn't commit. What that Mr. McGhee failed to realize is that The Incredible Hulk actually saved a lot of lives.

David only gave the Hulk credit in one scene where he said maybe it was for the better in that instant that he wasn’t cured.
Yes the episode"Life and death,the episode right before the episode showed here as a matter of fact! David always put others before himself,as was the case in the "Life and Death"episode admitting that it was for the better his attempt to cure himself of the Hulk failed when he always tried to get rid of him.
If that gamma ray had hit her then she could have become a heck of a good Shehulk.

Marvel created She-Hulk to stop a Bionic Woman type of situation, as Universal would have the rights to the character. Still, would have been nice to see...
Keneth Johnson was actually going to do his own version of She Hulk with David's sister Helen who was dying from a blood disease but CBS had lost interest in this series saying "The Hulk was getting tired". It was going to be the opening to the 5th season.
They've been trying to do a She Hulk movie for years, hopefully the Disney plus series will be good.

My childhood buddy and I used to talk in school after every new episode how David always had new cowboy boots, pants, shirts, etc after he left and entered every town. How could this be since he was a man w/o any consistent income.

I think he was trying to save the gamma machine coz that was his only hope for a cure.
What was he doing, reinjecting himself with gamma radiation? I thought he was trying to find a cure, to rid himself of the curse of his becoming the Hulk once and for all, so he could clear his name and stop pretending to be someone he wasn't.
As far as I can assume, he was going to expose himself to NEGATIVE GAMMA RADIATION. That way, he could reverse his curse.

aww man, they didn't show the Hulk's coolest magic trick. no matter what color pants Banner wears, when he turns to the Hulk, it becomes purple.
When Banner gets angry he transforms into the hulk and it becomes green.
I remember as a kid that being a gripe from friends of mine who were Hulk readers. They always complained about the purple pants not being shown. Kenneth Johnson was trying to make it more realistic, so it would stand to reason that every pair of pants David wore would be worn by the Hulk when he changed.

The other "magic" trick was that he grew so huge and muscular that he burst out of all his clothes except his pants always somehow fit with just a few ripped seams.
The one thing I found funny about this episode is they used stock footage from the movie 'EarthQuake'.
The creature is driven by rage and pursued by an investigative reporter.

This scene would have been much more impressive if the Hulk had bent the inches thick metal door all the way. Just imagine the look of the men on the other side as they saw the door literally being peeled back like cardboard and then the Hulk appears, roars at them and then runs out of the lab.
It figures David thought he found the cure and, of course, a giant earthquake happened. Poor man he has no luck.

At the end, after the Hulk changes back to Banner, he conviently finds a lab coat that's just his size to put on.
With a pair of right sized shoes too. It seems these apparel magically pop up after a hulk out.

Question - why was the TV Show so brilliant the movies so not. My view, a lot is down to Bill Bixby’s wonderful Banner but equally the show runner who just understood the character better than I think anyone. Finally Lou Farigo deserves great credit to be his portrayal of the Hulk. This series really was something special.
Partly cuz bixby didnt want to do something cartoonish in his words

so david was in the radiation chamber room was about to cure his self but then a man had to ask them to go to levels 2 or 10 to see what he was up to until she found him while there was a problem a earthquake was destroying everything people were getting hurt in the building they had to leave know that buildings and everything were being torn down cars were on the streets ' people were told to stay away from there buildings because of aftershocks but meanwhile david had to help a lady get up but a laser was about to blast her and cost her death but then the hulk came out know as big green who saved her life

It would have been amazing if the female scientist had been hit by the laser before the Hulk ripped it from its mountings. While he was going on his rampage, he would have heard her moaning and when he turned to her, would have seen her transform into a muscular she hulk. They both would have gone on a superpowered rampage fighting each other while also trying to escape the lab. Unfortunately, Hollywood seems to have an aversion to casting strong muscular women in roles. This episode also aired in 1978 which was a full decade before women like Cory Everson and Rachel Mclish were competing in the infancy of the female bodybuilding movement so it would have been difficult to find a muscular woman to play she hulk role. My personal preference would be for one of the more modern ultra muscular curvy women to play the she hulk role, like Nataliya Kuznetsova, Lisa Cross or Aleesha Young.
EPISODE 11 of season one. They only made 12 episodes for season one. Not 13 or more.
