I've been looking for a solution to this issue for years, finally it's bad enough that I'm getting a new vehicle, but for $20 and a bit of time I'll fix this so I can take my time car shopping. Thanks!

Thanks also for making this video. My Mazda 6 had the same issue. I discovered that the switch also has a plastic snap that also holds it on (in addition to the two screws). I also had to adjust the shifter cable so I removed the four bolts that holds the whole shifter assembly to the console. Doing so also allowed the switch to be removed with a regular screw driver so I don't know why anyone would have to remove the whole console.

Thank you! I was quoted $700 for this job last week, by a mechanic I’d *thought* I could trust!

Awesome!!!!! Thank you very much. My son bought a 2014 Mazda 6 grand touring and it had this problem. I was able to get the part on Amazon for 8$ and change it out in less than 2hrs.

I like your video. I have Mazda 6 2014. Whenever I park. The car won’t shut off and keeps beep beep, beep beep nonstop . And I can not lock the car. Tried the slamming the stick to park method. Seems to fix the problem. I’ve been researching and come across your video. Gonna replace the park switch and let you know if it worked

What is the shifter switch part number?
Been living with the issue for over a year now and would love to get it fixed but I can't seem to find the 2016 part number..

2014 Mazda 6 the old switch won't come out, it's too wide with the square shaft that inserts into shift assembly. Remove back console section, then loosen front console piece and pull to widen gap between console left front panel and shifting assembly. Also, on bottom of old switch, you have to remove an electrical connection. Your other video on how to first manage console is recommended!

What is the proper name for the park switch sensor? Called dealership and advanced auto to see if they had the part and they couldn’t find anything. I wasn’t sure what to call it though.

Can I get any LED T5 for the gear shift lights? Or does it need to be anything specific? Also, can this be done for the lights on the switches on the doors? Like for the power windows etc. Great video and very informative.

Yes I replaced my gearshift light with an LED T5 light not sure about the switches on the doors, but I would imagine they would be the same Thanks! :)

Things wear out and this gets an awful lot of use. I wouldn't say it was bad design in particular.
      The dealership quoted me $250.

How long do you think it should take a mechanic to swap out the shifter switch? I ordered the part from Amazon and am looking for a reasonable price rather than taking it to the dealer who wants $250. Thank you.

Dear lord, have someone record for you or use a tripod. We can't see shit when your phone is constantly moving and you're using one hand to try to do the work.
