From a medical standpoint, it is actually possible for Matthew's spinal cord injury to have "healed", especially in those days when there was not as advanced medical practices. Spinal cord bruising or other muscular damages can result in moderate to temporary immobilization. As the swelling goes down and he healed it was found that he was not truly paralyzed. It's a real thing, check it out.

Julian Fellowes said Dan Stevens didn’t decide to leave the show until AFTER Sybil died, in Season 3. They knew he was thinking about it but Fellowes said Stevens didn’t make a final decision until just 4 episodes before the end of the season where he wanted to leave! So Fellowes wasn’t left with as many options with which to kill off Matthew as he was with Sybil, who had told producers she was only going to be with the show for the initial 3 years of the fist contract all series actors are required to sign.
Just loved, loved Downtown series, one source of escape from all the political upheaval, I recorded the "Farewell Final Episode," and just can't bear to delete it.
Narration on this is absolutely appalling. Mispronunciation of everything from "impertinent" to "Gloucester," and the voice has strange intonations, and clearly has no clue about the actual show. The writer gets it all wrong as well: Hugh Bonneville, etc., were hardly lifted from obscurity by the show as implied here. Just dreadful. Couldn't make it to the five minute mark on this one.
I could tell you, but don't want to spoil it for you or anyone else who hasn't seen it. I'll just say that Edith wins big time in the end. I was cheering for her!
Duke of Glow-chester??!! Taking the time to know how to properly pronounce names is polite and shows how professional you really are. This blunder really let you down. It's Duke of Gloucester pronounced Gloss-ter

All outstanding actors and actresses love Downton Abbey 🤗
Julian Fellowes said Dan Stevens didn’t decide to leave the show until AFTER Sybil died, in Season 3. They knew he was thinking about it but Fellowes said Stevens didn’t make a final decision until just 4 episodes before the end of the season where he wanted to leave! So Fellowes wasn’t left with as many options with which to kill off Matthew as he was with Sybil, who had told producers she was only going to be with the show for the initial 3 years of the fist contract all series actors are required to sign.
Matthew was with Lady Mary!
Why’d you leave out all the main characters who were servants ? I hope Carson bates and anna all come back😊
Because this is the 'upstairs' video. They also made a downstairs one :)
Just loved, loved Downtown series, one source of escape from all the political upheaval, I recorded the "Farewell Final Episode," and just can't bear to delete it.
I just finish binge watching all seasons. I like it so much I'm going to watch it again
I love Granny and Mrs Patmore not forgetting Mr Burrows. GREAT ACTING 👍
I love Maggie Smith, I've seen her in lots of things, one was The Prime of miss Jean Brody, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel - 1 & 2.
All of them! Except for the ones who died, of course! I’m eagerly looking forward to watching the movie!
So many of the actors I have seen on Midsomer Murders! I love it and finally able to watch the series!
Dame Maggie Smith, respect, respect, respect! I love the character and the lines!!!
She was my favorite as well. I enjoyed the expression on her face.
Michelle's husband was so handsome. He looked like a young Jeremy Irons
I love how they ask which of the actors we’re excited about seeing in the new movie. Pretty sure it’s not gonna be Dan or Jessica 😳
Traitors
Dan Stevens hasn't been very complimentary of Downton or the US.
I miss Sybil... 😢
But damn, Maggie Smith is awesome!
Her son Toby is gorgeous and a great actor.
Good to see Bonneville is going to star in a biopic about the life of Ronnie Barker
You missed Allen Leech! He is not in the upstairs or downstairs video. Also, Robert is an Earl, not a Duke.
I find it odd that you put 2 men together on the intro, but they are NOT TOGETHER
I can't wait to see Tom Branson and baby Sybbie, and whatever happens to Marigold?
I could tell you, but don't want to spoil it for you or anyone else who hasn't seen it. I'll just say that Edith wins big time in the end. I was cheering for her!
I live near Glouchester!!! Didn't even recognise the place 😂😂 hilarious!
Enjoyed your podcast a lot! Very interesting...
Duke of Glow-chester??!! Taking the time to know how to properly pronounce names is polite and shows how professional you really are. This blunder really let you down. It's Duke of Gloucester pronounced Gloss-ter
What about Worcester sauce that one gets them every time.
He was an Earl not a Duke!
“Importanent?” Not a word.
If Maggie Smith said that, then she was being terribly modest, she has been extremely well known in films and TV and stage for well over 50 plus years.
Thanks for that. I wish you had info on the other non leading roles as well.
Great tv series, so into the characters, sad that Mathew character died, that was an unexpected scene , Laura Carmichael is an attractive with personality actress,
my first exposure to maggie smith was secret garden. she was amazing then. and is amazing now~!
I did love the Dowager her one liners said with impeccable timing where the best
Sincere condolences to Michell Dockery for the loss of her boyfriend. Such a beautiful woman won’t be single almost her life, lots of am sure suitors out there x
