In the Downton Abbey series we have a good mix of upstairs/downstairs stories and characters. No one steals the limelight, they’re all, unlike the characters they portray, equal in the internal struggles of this grand house. He was alone because of his hatefulness, his constant backbiting and trying to destroy other peoples life is why he was miserable, not by no one else, nor a reason of acceptance for his actions.

Her nuanced moves created a much more believable bond than with Sybil - In just the facial acting. It’s hard to act with a principle character who can’t pull off the acting.
I like him as Well. Yes He was Spiteful at times but I Don't quite understand there stance as I felt he had toned down his Hatefulness at the End of the Series!
There are so many characters on this show who are incredible. My favourite has to be Thomas. I truly hope he finds peace and happiness. I also love Mrs. Hughes. She reminds me so much of my mother in all the best ways. That caring, gentle nature with a will of iron and a heart that understands and loves. Upstairs, it has to the Dowager Countess. She has all the best lines, and Maggie Smith knows exactly how to deliver them. That quiet little chuckle of hers is priceless. The character reminds me of my grandmother. Strong, indomitable, with the quiet, but sometimes very nasty, undercurrent that speaks of great wit and intelligence.
Thomas Barrow is my FAVORITE character. He is so cute! And as a gay man myself, I often wonder what it would have been like as a gay man during the Era of Downton Abby.
I loved Daisy's character, I was so intrigued to find out what good thing was going to happen to her next, she had such a good heart for helping others.
The young man who played Thomas is actually quite handsome. While playing Thomas he usually had such a pinched, mean look about him, it took away from his beauty.
I sort of let my house go while obsessing on this show. Didn't realize it only had 6 season's until BAM!!!! It was like a head-on car crash out of nowhere!!! It just stopped. I may need some therapy 😳

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Tom! He was forever walking the tightrope btw. upstairs and downstairs after he married Sybil. Most handsome member of the cast too.
I really love Tom Branson. But hard to make a choice. So many characters are amazing : Mrs Hughes, Mr. Barrow, and of course, Anna and Mr. Bates and... well. I loved them all.
All the digs at people’s appearances and saying things like “the servants aren’t as popular as the Crawley family” are just really unnecessary negative patter.
For myself, Downton Abbey represents that special show like Upstairs, Downstairs from the 1970s. It has heart, wit, class, taste, and style. The characters are so delightfully complex and yet so relatable to people of numerous classes. Its progressive views are still very suitable for the conservatives, but manage to strike a chord with more modern individuals.
Maggie Smith by far the best. So mature as actress, outstanding performance. She inpersonate Lady Crowley excellent so to be able everyone understand the life and the principles of aristocrats at the time.
It is difficult to choose a favorite among such a wonderful and talented cast of totally believable characters. The wonderful writing of the script and direction gave value to everyone. If I had to choose one, it would be Daisy, the most diminutive role superbly played.
I have grown to love Downtown Abbey. For those who are my age you know it's a carbon copy or spin of a wonderful show that aired in the 1970's called "Upstairs Downstairs". The show was simply magnificent!
Difficult to pick one. They are all good as each other. Everyone plays their characters so strong. In the first couple of seasons it was Daisy whome I really admired. I felt she was special and the series wasn't complete without her. But as time went by, watching more episodes I feel all the characters are unique. Mosley is funny and I like him too. They all play incredibly good. 👍🏻👍🏻
USA here. I love this show! I am so glad that these wonderful actors were willing to recreate their characters and give us an update on how the family is doing. I also enjoy seeing them in new roles. Best of luck to all of them in the future.
My favorite character has to be Mary. I identify completely with her strong persona & drive. She’s the mastermind that keeps the family afloat. I just wish her & Matthew could’ve lived happily ever after.
Love the entire cast. Matthew Crawley was especially easy on the eye if a bit surly and awkward. The Downstairs crew were all just excellent. Perfectly cast and most relatable. New film coming in May. Might have to break down and go to the cinema.
Cathy Springfield- he bridged middle class and nobility. The person who bridged working-class and nobility was Tom the chauffeur. There was a very big social difference between a solicitor and a chauffeur.
The title of this was Real Life Partners, but yet they forgot to mention Robert James Collier's wife and son. I would have loved to have heard their love story.
It was only once, her niece that worked in Patmore's bed & breakfast referred to her as "Aunt Beryl". I think that is the only time she was called by her first name.

Sorry if I have the name or the spelling wrong. It’s been awhile. He seemed the most sensible character in the house, even with his radical (for the time) politics.
I didn't like Mary Crawley at all. She was stuck up, overconfident and had no root cause for it like Thomas. Her sister was mean to her but it was from a place of desperation. Mary was just nasty.

I like him as Well. Yes He was Spiteful at times but I Don't quite understand there stance as I felt he had toned down his Hatefulness at the End
of the Series!
The Dowager Countess of course. Gotta love Maggie!
billy kraus just goes to show, you can’t just have just one🥰🥰
CARSON IS MARRIED TO THE PINK DEVIL FROM HARRY POTTER ???
And mrs. Hughes is Married to a drunk Pirate😂
I Love how they are best friends and the marriage it's good... Let's take note for that.
Well, and Lady Crawley is secretly Prof McGonnagal.
Your comment proves how good of an actress she is❤️
Cuando difieren quieren era la esposa de Jim Cárter y era Imerlda Staton dije está casado con Dolores Umbrighe
Wszyscy aktorzy wspaniałe odegrali swoje role. Cudownie było przenieść się w czasie. Dziękuję za wspólnie spędzony czas 😘
The young man who played Thomas is actually quite handsome. While playing Thomas he usually had such a pinched, mean look about him, it took away from his beauty.
bitterness and pain usually take away from a person's looks
The actor who played Barrow is gorgeous! The character he played wasn't always nice but he had a good side, too...🙂🙋♀️🇬🇧
He was Liam Connor on Cornation street
I sort of let my house go while obsessing on this show. Didn't realize it only had 6 season's until BAM!!!! It was like a head-on car crash out of nowhere!!! It just stopped. I may need some therapy 😳
Me too!!!!!! I miss them so much!!!!!
I have seen the Downton Abbey series three times, all its characters are perfect, it is very difficult to choose among so many talents, it is my favorite series, the costumes, the settings, and we must not forget the behind the scenes who made this series a masterpiece, thanks to their talent. Michael Engler, Julian Fellowes, Anna Robins in charge of the fabulous costumes, and many more, the list is long, thanks to all
I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Tom! He was forever walking the tightrope btw. upstairs and downstairs after he married Sybil. Most handsome member of the cast too.
Yes ❤️❤️❤️
I loved Mary and Sybille,
I really love Tom Branson.
I like grandma Crawley, amazing actress and her humour/sarcasm is to die for.
Loved everyone as they each brought their characters to life. I just couldn't focus on just one character but fell in love w/all of Downton. 😃
Just a vote for the entire cast! Neither upstairs nor downstairs is most popular in our home. They are all distinct and beloved!
Maggie Smith by far the best. So mature as actress, outstanding performance. She inpersonate Lady Crowley excellent so to be able everyone understand the life and the principles of aristocrats at the time.
All of them are amazing professionals. I think this cast is one of the most important thing for making this show so good.
ABSOLUTELY !
Top quality cast ! Amazing !
Great actors.
It is difficult to choose a favorite among such a wonderful and talented cast of totally believable characters. The wonderful writing of the script and direction gave value to everyone. If I had to choose one, it would be Daisy, the most diminutive role superbly played.
Anna is my favourite 💕 Other characters have darkness in them but I think she is truly good.
She was pure.
I loved her and Baxter
I have grown to love Downtown Abbey. For those who are my age you know it's a carbon copy or spin of a wonderful show that aired in the 1970's called "Upstairs Downstairs". The show was simply magnificent!
All of them together. Everyone perfect in their roles.
Without a doubt, Mr. Bates is my favorite character.❤
Mr Carson and Delores Umbridge??? That was so wild to learn. Made me laugh.
All of them, I loved Downton Abbey series and movies💯
I had so many mixed emotions with Thomas. Evil but yet you could still see he was human after all with a heart
I loved Downton Abby..all actors were great. Even the dog. Good job... Well done👏👏👏👏
Amazing what makeup and hairstyle can do!
Mr. Barrow, no doubt. He portrays the character so tremendously real! I love him. 🥰💕
Hi Gladys, how are you doing?
Ummm... Hi? I'm well enough. Thanks for asking. 😅 What about you?
@@gladysmachin4643 I'm pretty good Gladys just giving god thanks for seeing another day. Where are you from if I may ask?
Daisy is my favorite character. She looks so innocent and petite, and she has a beautiful smile and nice dimples.
Julian Fellows did a great job. Maggie Smith is absolutely the best. How could you imagine Downton Abbey without her?
My favourite Tom branson and sybil, and Lady Granthamand Mrs Crawley conversations
Why would you forget Tom & Sybil Branson & The Dowager?
Love the entire cast. Matthew Crawley was especially easy on the eye if a bit surly and awkward. The Downstairs crew were all just excellent. Perfectly cast and most relatable. New film coming in May. Might have to break down and go to the cinema.
Violet, her sarcasm is so enjoyable. Love her 😉
Thomas, hands down... both the character and the actor!! Brilliant!
Anything that Joanne Froggatt does I will be there. She is gorgeous and possesses spectacular acting chops.
I'm absolutely obsessed with Downton Abbey I love it.
My husband and Iloved Mathew. He bridged working class and nobility and was ever so handsome!
Cathy Springfield- he bridged middle class and nobility.
The person who bridged working-class and nobility was Tom the chauffeur.
There was a very big social difference between a solicitor and a chauffeur.
Anna and Bates are my favorite characters of Downtown Abbey! CONGRATS! Raquel
For some reason the makeup artists on the show made all the actors look 20 year's older. To see them as they really are is refreshing.
Oh, my!! I never would have recognized Mrs Huges!!
Liked all the characters very much. Thomas Barrow had the most interesting role and character, at least for me.
They were all so talented and played their rolls so well it would be impossible to choose one..
Love Mr Bates, GORGEOUS, great actor.
Brendan coyle he's so awesome and a great actor
The actress Anna was amazing I just love everyone I can watch it over and over thank you for creating such an amazing series
The title of this was Real Life Partners, but yet they forgot to mention Robert James Collier's wife and son. I would have loved to have heard their love story.
A love them all! I would watch Downton Abbey over & over 😍
My favorite characters were Anna and Mr. Bates. I just love them!
I can't remember ever hearing Mrs. Patmore being called Beryl Patmore.
It was only once, her niece that worked in Patmore's bed & breakfast referred to her as "Aunt Beryl". I think that is the only time she was called by her first name.
Yup and maybe the cop
( or bobby ) lol might have said it in the same episode
Beryl would have been a a name that was just becoming fashionable at the time that she was born... along with Gladys and Myrtle.
@@MandyJMaddison Myrtle reminds me of Murtle from harry potter(the ghost from the 2nd movie)
@@_Ernest_8347
Myrtle in the Harry Potter books would have been born in the 1930s.
By that time Myrtle would have passed out of popularity. But I don't think that popular fashion counted for much in the wizarding world.
Old Lady Grantham was my favorite. HILARIOUS!
In defence of swimming with men it's not high art but it's a nice little Pick me up film. Jim Carter is an amazing actor. Look for him in the film brassed off too.
Ive just watched the whole 6 series and the movie for the first time and am gutted it’s finished as I absolutely loved it. Joanne Froggatt and Maggie Smith are my favourite cast members
Liked all the cast members. I think they all were a great choice in the roles they played.
FABULOUS. I had NO idea Imelda Staunton is married to Jim Carter!
I'm watching a repeat of this series from the start on TV at the moment.
The magic of this show is that every actor could be yout favourite. The writing for every single one of them was amazing.
Maggie Smith is one of my favorite actresses, and this was a peach of a role for her. I’m sorry you didn’t mention Tom Branson played by Allen Leech(?).
Mary was just nasty.
this narration is insufferable, she sounds like a pharmaceutical commercial.
Yes, not to mention the copious amount commercials!
I have no favourite in this great series. I like them all!! They are beautiful people with great acting skills! They started to feel like family after a few episodes.
Oh dear...they were all my favorite! I can’t possibly choose just one!
Robert James-Collier, his charter goes from saver to swindler you never know what's his next move, from snob to sexy.
I loved thomas he was vary hateful but at the sametime he had a,heart
It is such an extraordinary ensemble cast and it is truly hard to pick a favorite when they are all so wonderfully relatable but I have to say that Maggie Smith as the Dowager is laugh out loud fun.
