I’ll never forget having a buddy of mine play Showbiz for me 20 years ago. Such a great otherworldly journey of an album. The lead singers vocals are very distinct and the song structure was really striking at the time. Sunburn is worth a listen to hear what they started off like.
Such a fire power trio man, they def get bring it! Matt Bellamy (lead singer/guitar/keys) is pretty incredible honestly! Undisclosed Desires and Super Massive Blackhole are 2 other gems as well.
Great reaction, thanks for the breakdown, I've been a fan of 'em for years and they are even better live, but it's great to have someone tell how it's made, I found your channel through your Ghost reaction which I've listened to (a lot) recently, 1-3 min intro that you skip, straight to the point and know what you're talking about, great work.
The thing I've always found with Muse is that, when they go heavy, they do it so well. For some heavy Muse, check out Stockholm Syndrome outro during Glastonbury 2004, Assassin live at the Mayan, anything from the Hulabaloo Zenith concert 2001 (Hyper Music, Micro Cuts, Dead Star, Citizen Erased... heck even Sunburn, a piano based song, is heavy as hell thanks to the bass).
You deserve many more subscribers, I love your reactions and you are very knowledgeable. You know music. What’s your story? I’m not a big fan of Muse’s last decade, but the 2001-2006 era was great! Bút, this song slaps, I have to admit.
Totally agree, I was just gushing over Showbiz and fell off after Blackholes and Revaluations myself. First time hearing this track and it’s hitting hard
If you want to nerd out on the technical stuff then stick to the studio recordings. If you want the energy of live music, they're the best live performing band out there. Either way... Muse is as good as it gets! Keep going!!!
@@oldstonerun What a perfect way to end a reaction 😆. For heavier Muse, you should also check out: The Handler Kill Or Be Killed Butterflies and Hurricanes (not so much on the heavy, you should just check it out 😉) (and as so many others said before me, their live versions are amazing!)
Muse consists of three guys: Matthew Bellamy (lead guitar, singer, piano), Chistopher Wolstenholm (bass, backing vocals), and Dominic Howard (drums). Most of what is heard in this song is real! The distorted bass is an actual bass guitar, and the drumming is all legit. The do have a keyboardist, but his is not a part of the band, he just fills in for the keyboard/synth parts during live performances.
Good stuff as usual buddy. Another massive rabbit hole to fall into. I just dont know what to suggest as theres so many great songs to choose from. Maybe Knights of Cydonia is a good next Muse track.
Thanks for the comment man, much appreciated. I’m not sure what genre I always thought Muse were, but for whatever reason I never gave them a chance. I’m glad I did though.
Hey great Reaction, Muse has great arrangements in their studio versions that you will have fun analyzing, but their true potential is int heir love performances where they sound Better, and they actually replicate and enhance their sound, Try Assassin at The Mayan, Knights of Cydonia at Rome Olympic Stadium, New Born at Glastonbury 2004 or Wembley stadium both are great versions. You won't be disappointed. One last thing, Muse is very experimental and they have MANY songs with combinations of different genres, including pop, but all in their own innovative style, you probably eant to go over their Studio versions cause you analyze them really well.
If you like heavy stuff I will suggest you some hidden gems that not everyone i think would suggest : Ok of course Stockholm Syndrome and Assassin(I recommand the GOB version).. then Ill say MK Ultra, Yes Please, Execution Commentary, Survival. They have plenty of heavy rock songs in their catalogue but those are some of their most metal-ish stuff I can think of. Muse is a hell of a rabbit hole to get into!
This was mixed by Dan Lancaster who tours with them on keys and other backup instruments, and has also been heavily involved with Bring Me The Horizon. You can hear a *lot* of BMTH influence on this track.
This isn't exactly indicative of most Muse songs. While they can certainly get heavy, this is heavier than most. Absolutely fantastic band with a wide range of sounds. I look forward to more reactions.
When it comes to Muse, you cannot nail down one particular genre, not even per song. I like to call the genre "Muse-ic" ... it really is a blend of so many different styles. It's what they do best
Great reaction ! Muse is not overall that heavy, but they sometime show how underrated they are with heavier songs like this one or Reapers or Assassin for example
there are not 2 guitars, and a super distorted bass and a guitar, in fact the singer is the same guitarist, only digital and the keyboard and sintthy you need see live show
Great reaction !! Piece of advice if you wanna see more of Muse, check out their live performances
Deal!
Agreed 💯

You commit to reacting to my Muses and I subscribe. I cannot get enough of the musical Joy and life they breath into seasoned and new listeners.
Thanks! Oh I’m definitely doing more Muse!
I think Stockholm syndrome, MUSE is one of their best rock music you will not be disappointed
Thanks for the suggestion!
More MUSE please!
Deal!
please do more muse.... watching you break the songs down is a treat🎉🎉
Thanks man! I will be doing more Muse!
As you were unsure on how they played it, love to see you react to a live version!
I definitely need to see them live
Such a fire power trio man, they def get bring it! Matt Bellamy (lead singer/guitar/keys) is pretty incredible honestly! Undisclosed Desires and Super Massive Blackhole are 2 other gems as well.
Thanks man much appreciated! They’ve been added to the list lol

Ok! I like what I’m hearing man. More Muse is on the way!
Muse!! My first band obsession lol. Stockholm syndrome, blackout, the small print, plug in baby, and sunburn are my faves 💜
Lol! Which one to do next!?
if you want more of heavy muse i would suggest
Reapers
Dead Star
Yes Please
Stockholm Syndrome
Assassin
and yes you do need more muse in your life
Awesome!
@@oldstonerun What a perfect way to end a reaction 😆.

The Handler
Kill Or Be Killed
Butterflies and Hurricanes (not so much on the heavy, you should just check it out 😉)

First song of muse but not the last ☺️ more muse pleaaase 🙏🫶✨, and yes muse are heavy 😂🔥🔥🔥 kiss from France 😘

Just subscribed for (hopefully) more MUSE and GHOST! 😃
Awesome!
Knights of Cydonia live in Rome. Phenomenal performance. As is Plug in Baby…… and almost every song….
Great reaction! Great ending! Do some more heavy Muse songs and you won't be dissapointed ;-)
Thanks man. Also thanks for the ending comment. I will definitely be doing more Muse.

Thanks so much for the awesome comment! Also for the suggestions too. They’re added to my list!
I would only add Reapers from Cologne to your awesome list. One my favorite heavy Muse performances.
general rule (9/10) when Muse write a song with distortion (not all have this), is that if the instruments have distortion the voice will have too
Ahh ok that’s interesting
If you want more Muse, I strongly suggest Hysteria or the Exogenesis Symphony (there are 3 parts!)
Awesome! Thanks for the suggestions!
muse it is nice 😊😊
“I need more Muse in my life”
*proceeds to never react to Muse again*

Ah man thanks for the suggestions! I’m excited for this rabbit hole!

Chris’s bass line in Hysteria has twice been voted best bass line of all time. Check it.
This isn't exactly indicative of most Muse songs. While they can certainly get heavy, this is heavier than most. Absolutely fantastic band with a wide range of sounds. I look forward to more reactions.
Ah ok, thanks for the heads up Mike

Thanks! Yea that’s what I’m reading here in the comments. Still a great song!
They have a ton of bangers. Try Dead Star live at V fest or Knights of Cydonia live at Rome Olympic stadium. It’s a journey with muse. Enjoy. 🤙
Verona, on their last album isn't heavy, but its such a stunning song and well worth a listen
You may also wanna check their older stuff, like early albums, cause they were also heavy... Some of their new stuff - not so much...
"What genre would you call this" - it's just Muse lol 😁 At this point they are their own genre...
Muse. The genre is Muse.
Je t’invite à réagir à davantage à MUSE et surtout les versions live ( la où ils sont les plus monstrueux)
"what genre is this?" it's Muse, the genre is Muse, there's no other name for this 😅
there are not 2 guitars, and a super distorted bass and a guitar, in fact the singer is the same guitarist, only digital and the keyboard and sintthy you need see live show
Awesome, good to know!
Please check muse stockholm syndrome live at mayan
No digital instruments there, other than some synth sounds!
