Update: About bound gear. I have been playing the game for 6 years and for some reason I had an experience with an item that was character bound before and thought that all items equipped to a character made them character bound. It doesn’t! My bad! It can still be shared between your characters. Looks like I still learn things everyday. My apologies. Also make sure to get your crafting certifications in your starting zone cities. Let me know in the comments your one beginner tip that you wish you knew!
You are the man. Very adult way to handle errors that happen sometimes. Three folks in my home all play ESO. You are the RUclipsr that we all agree on is good to watch. Thank you for what you do.
Was probably prophet gear you get while leveling. That is character bound. I tried putting a 2hander in bank so my crafter could get training trait. Couldn't put it in the bank though
Yeah, a lot of the leveling rewards (which didn't exist 3 years ago when I first played and got 2 to 50) are character-bound. Can't explain that feeling of getting a "research all-1 day" scroll on a leveling character and then realizing I can't use it on my main working on their 8th and 9th traits. 😢
Thanks a lot for this no nonsense guide. I started playing ESO today and was so overwhelmed. Your guide helped me tremendously, I really appreciate the time you took to put it together
This is BY FAR the most helpful of the zillion beginner guide videos I've watched. Thanks for making a great video; I'll definitely be watching your other beginner guides.
Good points. Rushing is a plague in MMOs especially when people do it in groups too. It seems very unproductive to buy a game and then do everything you can to avoid playing any of the content.
Thanks so much for this video. I burnt myself out on my main game, Destiny 2 so I came to ESO for a fresh start. I'm taking my time and trying to just relax and enjoy the game rather than blast through it. But there is a lot to learn and your videos have been very helpful.

Just got back after not playing since launch. Wow has it changed and all for the better from what I can tell so far. it took me all of 2 days before I got ESO+, being someone who loves to craft it was a lot easier and more convenient than logging into a half dozen alts to move ingredients around.
Thanks for the guide. I'm starting ESO later this evening as a wow refugee, because..... wow sucks now. So this information will make my first several hours a LOT easier. I really appreciate the content, and the context. New youtube sub. I may check you on twitch, but am planning on streaming during my play hours as well. Important mount tip you forgot - this will immediately increase your mount speed by 30% - do a battleground as soon as you can so you can learn the skill lines and put a point into rapid manoeuvre. Get the add-on that will also auto put this skill on your bar when you mount up and take it off (forget the name).
@Nii Lantei Bright-Davies support and assault .. basically just skills that help in battlegrounds/cyrodiil but the rapid maneuver skill you get from support for just unlocking the skill line works outside of battlegrounds.
Thank you, this is quite helpful - overwhelming still, but helpful. I just started yesterday, picked a High Elf Warden (I bought Morrowind alongside the base game because it was a deal and it was cheaper than the base game on its own lol). I started in Morrowind though, because of the DLC I suppose but I wasn’t aware I have a base zone as part of the Aldmeri Dominion. Might take a ship that I spotted that could take you to alliance places once I finish this Azura/Living God questline.
Also, if you think you'll ever want to create new characters of different classes in the future, create said characters now (I went ahead and made one for every class) so you can start leveling their mount speed every day over two months. There is nothing worse than going from your main toon with a 60-speed mount to a new one with no upgrades and trying to get around the map to hunt skyshards and level up with no discovered wayshrines. Especially now that they made mount stamina actually run out.
To make teleporting easy/cheaper you can get the add-on caller easy travel. If you're in a few guilds when you go to the map > locations if you right click on a location if there is a guild member there or friend it will teleport you there for free so you don't have to go through and find those people yourself. It will teleport you to a way shrine in that zone so then you can free travel to another one in that same zone for free.

I started playing ESO Greymoor because I’m a middle age weirdo whose D&D crew are all moved away, assholes, or in prison...😳. This game is even more in depth than D&D and it’s fantastically overwhelming.
So wait, im a bit confused, im debating on buying ESO:Greymoor and it says that it also includes the previous expansion zones, but in the video it is said you need ESO Plus to be able to play those zones ? Could anyone elaborate pls.
I’ve been playing eso on and off since beta and only a few months at a time when I do. The reason I stop playing are grinding isn’t fun and speed running dungeons isn’t great either. Yes questing is slower but let a guy enjoy a zone his first time through it! WTB better friends!
In the process of grinding out my final gear set for endgame. Should I continue grinding or take it easy until Greymoor comes out and see how the meta changes?
I notice you have two skyshards addons switched on, which gives that unattractive stacking effect. You can turn off skysharfds if you are using the other one (Destinations, I think).
So does the first and second skill bar count towards leveling the skills at the same time? And if I have the same skill on both does it count it as two skills from that tree?
@@TheRAMBO9191 Nothing, it will take the same amount of time per say then if you started right away. It just helps when you get your character leveled and you want a certain gear set. So instead of buying each piece from the guild traders or having a master crafter make it for you (which can be costly depending on the set) you can craft it yourself! 😄 it's so much easier. It just takes a ton of time. I'm CP 470 and I started a while ago...I'm almost there I just need to research Nirnhorned and I'm good. Its taken me about 4 months so far however I have a ton of research scrolls that knock the time down a bit.

Or things you should grind for.. sorry I’m fairly new still learning the game haven’t been around for a new dlc, so I have been looking for that kind of guide. Maybe it’s something I picked up from destiny 2 like grinding bounties and not handing it in for example. Like the thing I’m doing now is stock up my undaunted keys just Incase I can buy monster set. But this is just me guessing as I have no idea
Brah We Got This I’m sure making something like this takes so no stress, but In future I think it’s definitely content worth making because nobody does it.
Wish i had looked in to this game before i started it, not done half of this, might give it a miss. As to start it all over again would drive me mad , put a lot of time into it as well.
Can i ask you please what are the best Destruction and Restoration staffs i can get my hands on in the game, before i make another mistake 😳 many thanks 👍🏻
Thanks for making this, I’m thinking of starting ESO and this makes me more comfortable and it makes me feel like it won’t be horribly overwhelmed when I do start. 😁
I need a beginner to the beginner guide bro. Like how to make a character and what to do, explain things like magic, different races. I play mario bros 3 and Halo CE I have no idea what to do in this game lol I'm about to give up on these kind of games
So far been playing solo. ( Got a friend or two leveling here and there ) and it feels pretty good. Sure it's not as immersive (since you meet other players) but being able to Queue for public dungeons and PvP only if you want is pretty cool. Also there's a lot of "only for Solo PVE builds" video guide for this game recently. I'd sure check it out.
Funny story about addons. I just started playing ESO so spent a day or two going through everyone's addon videos and have roughly 40 I DL'd. Despite going through each one to make sure I had the necessary libraries, they were bugging out. I went into minion and installed every single available library that wasn't marked as no longer in use and voila, everything's working perfect lol
Maybe I might play ESO, again. I played about a year and it suddenly became boring because it wouldn't deliver the PvP experience the I got from WoW before they went to hell. VR 360 for PS4 would put me back in. For awhile, at least. Not gonna happen so.....
I disagree with the take your time to level thing, because. (i) All your quest rewards are based on your characters level, all your dungeon helmet rewards are based on your characters level, in fact all rewards that have a level attached to them are character level, so anything you get under 160CP will be obsolete in a matter of days or even hours depending on how much you play, (ii) you won't know if you like a class until you unlock all there abilities, as for class, they all do the same thing, they just have different coloured animations, (iii) even after power leveling to 160CP you still have many, many hours running around collecting skyshards and lord books, there is no short cut for that unless you have collected all on another toon. and that's about $8 per zone with over 30 zones, if that's how you roll? PC's have add-ons that show the locations, consoles do not.
My problem with take your time and do quests stuff is that I LOATH quests. I hate them in other MMOs, and I even dislike the quests I've done in ESO. I just find it tedious, it isn't the reason I would play an mmo
You advise that your items bind to that character that equip it. This is not true. It’s bind to account. You can put bound items in your bank and take them out and equip them on other characters. It’s one of the best things in this game.
Mage guild, Fighter guild and Undaunted skill lines are NOT leveled up by having their abilities slotted: for mage guild you have to find lore booms around the world, figter guild levels up with killing daedra and undead and undaunted with completing dungeon quests
In reality, gear is SERVER bound... For example, I do not have access to the monster helm I was rewarded on the NA server from the same account (same @ccount name...) on the EU server.... To answer, equipment doesn't even have to be equipped... It is only accessible to multiple characters *on the same server* if it is in the Bank... So even if some character is just carrying a piece of gear around in his inventory, that gear cannot be accessed by another character until it's put into the Bank...
sadly in ESO it makes MUCH more sence, to first grind to 160 championpoints, and THEN take your time questing & exploring.. if someone does the leveling RIGHT (watch grinding videos first!!), this can easily be done in 2 or 3 days. *) you get much more xp from the same quest, when you have a higher level *) you start with quite a lot of money, from all the gear you have looted in the 1st 2 days, which makes buying a horse and bank upgrades very affordable *) you learn fighting right from the beginn with, and this game is A LOT about fighting *) later when you take time to explore, you can keep all the nice gear that you find, because you not "growing" out of it anymore (max gear level is cp 160) *) later when you are done questing & exploring and you are looking for a challenge, you will likely have enough xp and better gear to participate in harder (and more interressting) content .. this is how i would recomment to start ESO: 1) create your character VERY CAREFULLY and finish the tutorial (you can take your time with it, it is nice designed and not too long) 2) dont accept any furter quests the games throws at you, but still do the intro quest for mages-, fighter-, and undawnted- guild (its just talking, and a bit traveling for the undawnted) 3) go leveling untill you are have 160 cp !! 4) now its the PERFECT time to do the main-questline (which has been added to your quest-log automatically), since you also already have the xp requirements to play all its parts in a row
I’m doing this now bro. Only been playing a week for couple hours a day and cp 124! I did do main quests tho until like 30ish until I met some cool people who gave me training gear to grind mobs. I’m still wearing it lmfao. It’s lvl 32 but hey if it makes the grind faster then I can focus on getting a set from dungeons.
@@nomeat thank you for your feedback - i am glad, i could help! ..but your level-gear is a bit low now.. its realy time to swap this out for a newer one ;) if you have joined a guild already, you could nicely ask in guild chat, if someone can craft it for you, this can EASLY be crafted by a experienced player.. maybe offer 5k or 10k gold for it, if you can afford it. kinda 5k for blue gear, 10k for purple. it does not need a special style, since it is only temporary (untill you have 160cp). if you dont have a guild yet (or noone is online right now), just ask in zone chat for it ;) happy leveling!
@@nomeat imo, one of the best palces to grind, is the alikr desert.. north of the maincity "sentinel", at the beach, you'll find zombies.. *) they dont have ranged attacks, so you can easily pull them together, and kill them with AoE attacks - BE EFFICENT with this *) you have a merchant realy close by (east of beach in a small tent), to repair your gear, and sell your loot *) be in a 2player team, for an additional xp buff - you loose a bit xp, if you have more than 2 payers in a team if you get sick of this place, you also can also join a dolmen grinding group (in alikr desert) for a while, but this is much less efficent for xp - it is kinda lazy grinding ;)

A lot of positivity in chat and im sorry to be the bummer boi, but ur TIP No.17 is extremely WRONG, All equipments are account shared and not character bound. You literally point on the item and it shows top right corner "bound" - aka - account bound, and not "character bound" which is extremely rare cases of lvl-up rewards. You can easily place the gear in your bank and take it with a diff char. When you farm trial shit like PFG and never share it between your magicka chars? come on man...
PLEASE, before you comment read any pinned comments I may have, I literally say, if you would have read, in my pinned comment, I messed up this tip. I explained I had thought it bound it.

I started playing ESO Greymoor because I’m a middle age weirdo whose D&D crew are all moved away, assholes, or in prison...😳. This game is even more in depth than D&D and it’s fantastically overwhelming.
how do you get the wings u are wearing?
I got a bunch of ESO glitches on my channel that are worth seeing!
Great video by the way 👌🏻
what addon is that showing on your gear color level on the equipped screen? i like those circles
Alpha gear
So wait, im a bit confused, im debating on buying ESO:Greymoor and it says that it also includes the previous expansion zones, but in the video it is said you need ESO Plus to be able to play those zones ? Could anyone elaborate pls.
I’ve been playing eso on and off since beta and only a few months at a time when I do. The reason I stop playing are grinding isn’t fun and speed running dungeons isn’t great either. Yes questing is slower but let a guy enjoy a zone his first time through it! WTB better friends!
I can share my bounded gear and jewlry among all my characters just fine, maybe that was before.
You are correct I made a mistake with that
In the process of grinding out my final gear set for endgame. Should I continue grinding or take it easy until Greymoor comes out and see how the meta changes?
You could hold off just in case but it depends on your class too. It may not change too much
I notice you have two skyshards addons switched on, which gives that unattractive stacking effect. You can turn off skysharfds if you are using the other one (Destinations, I think).
So does the first and second skill bar count towards leveling the skills at the same time? And if I have the same skill on both does it count it as two skills from that tree?
Only the active bar counts, so like before accepting a quest reward which gives experience swap to the right bar.
Great vid.
what kind of Ui do you use in game is it an add on? it looks so clean compared to the standard in game one
Dark ui
What UI are u using.
So I have eso plus but I still have to buy all the dlc's with crowns, is that normal or is something wrong?
Wish I started crafting at the beginning. I didn’t start till I was already over 400cp.
What happens if you start late?
TheRAMBO9191 You’ll just have to pay someone else to craft stuff for you or buy from other guild traders. Just cost less if you can craft it yourself.
Does any of this help console player's cause that would be useful
Can anyone help me? I bought 200 jute from a guild trade but can't find it anywhere in my inventory or bank ...?
It’s that time of year again
Should do a how to prepare for greymoor
So I have a things to know before you buy that is a preparation one
Brah We Got This ya I watched that I enjoyed it! Like preparation as in what mats/gear/etc you should grind and keep.
Oh okay gotcha, I’ll see if I can make one. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get it out in time.
Just keep playing and learning :)
No problem!
It's just the horrible lag that will surprise you now, and the weekly maintenance that never actually fixes anything.
At least for Xbox players you can always post looking for group and let know you're new, there are always people willing to help
I need a beginner to the beginner guide bro. Like how to make a character and what to do, explain things like magic, different races. I play mario bros 3 and Halo CE I have no idea what to do in this game lol I'm about to give up on these kind of games
Check out my beginner series!
Been thinking about getting ESO
Does your guild take casual players? Definitely interested
Yes 100 percent
Man it's crazy how many people don't take the time to get comfortable with their build
Is this game good for a solo pve player? Or a waste of money? I loved Skyrim but wasn't bothered when I played tamriel for free over a weekend
Depends! You can solo like 90 percent of content
I'd sure check it out.
i dont have greymoor yet i get antiquities?
What addon are you using to make ESO UI less ugly?
dark ui :)
I already messed up on my first step. I got 3 characters to 50 and I'm currently at cp 168
Yo brah, add another one: Use addons if you are on PC.
True true
Can anyone recommend a guild on Xbox NA?
My problem with take your time and do quests stuff is that I LOATH quests. I hate them in other MMOs, and I even dislike the quests I've done in ESO. I just find it tedious, it isn't the reason I would play an mmo
You advise that your items bind to that character that equip it. This is not true. It’s bind to account. You can put bound items in your bank and take them out and equip them on other characters. It’s one of the best things in this game.
Read the pinned comment
Mage guild, Fighter guild and Undaunted skill lines are NOT leveled up by having their abilities slotted: for mage guild you have to find lore booms around the world, figter guild levels up with killing daedra and undead and undaunted with completing dungeon quests
Gear is account bound.
Hmm even if equipped? I swear I’ve tried to equip previously equipped monster helms and it didn’t let me.
Wow idk why I thought that, I’ve been playing for 6 years and I for some reason thought it wouldn’t let you equip to multiple characters.
Do I have to buy greymoor if I have eso plus ? Or is it included
Gotta buy it
Your tip 17 is wrong. It's account bound. Not character bound with gear.
Read the pinned comment please.
Ah. Didn't see it when I first was looking at comments. Good video and tips. Even after playing since launch I still learn things in the game.
No problem a good bit of people missed the comment, so no worries. It was my fault. Thank you though!
sadly in ESO it makes MUCH more sence, to first grind to 160 championpoints, and THEN take your time questing & exploring.. if someone does the leveling RIGHT (watch grinding videos first!!), this can easily be done in 2 or 3 days.
*) you get much more xp from the same quest, when you have a higher level
*) you start with quite a lot of money, from all the gear you have looted in the 1st 2 days, which makes buying a horse and bank upgrades very affordable
*) you learn fighting right from the beginn with, and this game is A LOT about fighting
*) later when you take time to explore, you can keep all the nice gear that you find, because you not "growing" out of it anymore (max gear level is cp 160)
*) later when you are done questing & exploring and you are looking for a challenge, you will likely have enough xp and better gear to participate in harder (and more interressting) content
..
this is how i would recomment to start ESO:
1) create your character VERY CAREFULLY and finish the tutorial (you can take your time with it, it is nice designed and not too long)
2) dont accept any furter quests the games throws at you, but still do the intro quest for mages-, fighter-, and undawnted- guild (its just talking, and a bit traveling for the undawnted)
3) go leveling untill you are have 160 cp !!
I might send this to my friends lol
@@nomeat thank you for your feedback - i am glad, i could help!
..but your level-gear is a bit low now.. its realy time to swap this out for a newer one ;)
if you have joined a guild already, you could nicely ask in guild chat, if someone can craft it for you, this can EASLY be crafted by a experienced player.. maybe offer 5k or 10k gold for it, if you can afford it. kinda 5k for blue gear, 10k for purple. it does not need a special style, since it is only temporary (untill you have 160cp).
if you dont have a guild yet (or noone is online right now), just ask in zone chat for it ;)
happy leveling!
@@nomeat imo, one of the best palces to grind, is the alikr desert.. north of the maincity "sentinel", at the beach, you'll find zombies..
*) they dont have ranged attacks, so you can easily pull them together, and kill them with AoE attacks - BE EFFICENT with this
*) you have a merchant realy close by (east of beach in a small tent), to repair your gear, and sell your loot
*) be in a 2player team, for an additional xp buff - you loose a bit xp, if you have more than 2 payers in a team
if you get sick of this place, you also can also join a dolmen grinding group (in alikr desert) for a while, but this is much less efficent for xp - it is kinda lazy grinding ;)
@@SmileThePlanet sweet. Thank for advice. People are pretty nice in zone chat also. That’s how I got my first set of training gear. I can’t wait to pvp with my friends though. It’s gonna be a lot of fun.
"nicest communeties" - too low DPS...
your bookcase comments are not accurate. The vast number of them do not help you.
@@Adam_Lutz Fair point, good job on fixing it, however that would be very useful to point that out as a message box or something in the video.
For an experienced person trying to find good tips video (and there are plenty of those) for a new beginner friend, I don't have time scrolling through comments and other replies of every video that I'm watching.
Wow this is bad. You don't say shit. You didn't even mention the morph. I know some poor players out there who keep leveling their skills after the morph, which is not in priority. You are telling about map discovering, but not mentioning your addons. You are telling about leveling up skills and why you should have them on bar, but not mentioning skills that aren't getting leveled even though you have them on bar, like mages guild for example. This is just a title for content. I guess I could find more, but I'm done after 7 mins in.
The Greymoor main quest was terrible
Skip to number 19. Steps 1-18 aren’t Graymore related. It’s just recycled video.
Tip 1 don't download
Play stamina. You'll thank yourself later for not gimping yourself by trying to play magic and fight on equal level as a stam player. Games massively biased for stam
Best tip for starting eso is don't start eso.
tip n# 1 dont buy any dlc
tip n# 2 dont pay for eso plus
tip N# 3 never buy crowns or use the crown store .
That is if you don't want QoL crafting bag, DLC classes (necro/warden) and DLC regions/quest line ?
There is only one tip to know "it's broke so buy a different game". There you go folks 😊
