What is the mistake you wish you didn’t make? Post below to help a beginner out!

I created purple gear for all of my alts, even jewelry. So when my main hit CP160 she had no materials left for her own stuff. DOH! My ESO history is similar to yours. I started and was so confused and frustrated that I quit for 2 years. I tried it again when I heard Skyrim was coming out and now I'm hooked, have 3 CP390 toons and working on more. I have you to thank for helping my learning curve.

Not mine mistake but yesterday one of my guild mates with CP350 asked how the hell with same set, class and race i have over 6k hp more.
After small talk I found out he wasn't using any food ever and he didnt want to spend those 2 points in undaunted guild line that give you % stats for each piece of diferent EQ :)
Than after i told him what food im using on trials he started to complain that is expensive (Artaeum Pickled Fish Bowl) and he cant afford it. For this type of ppl you need to explain every single point of game, after over 30 min explaining him that he dont need exactly this one coz its best in slot and there is many other that are cheaper he finnaly moved his ass and started to check uncle google what food should he buy.
After another 1h he came back crying he cant find something like that cheap (he wanted lot hp and magicka) and only thing he found was Witchmother's Potent Brew, i start to feel pity on him coz for whole hour he was checking drinks not meals :) After that i just made for him 100 x Solitude Salmon-Millet Soup what was closest to Artaeum what i could find.

I remember testing this myself by walking up Vivec’s stairs and then riding up them. I did this almost two years ago iirc so I forgot the times but it was definitely slower. It was slow enough that I actually bought the premium mount booster and just dumped it in speed bc I found it so annoying

    • @rahee9482
      @rahee9482 3 года назад +3

Mount Gallop and Sprint are the same speed. At 0% its 140% movement. At 60% mount speed its 200% base which is the run speed cap. But mount is uncapped and Gallop (mount speed buff from PVP akill line) breaks the 200% speed. Sprint is far easier to buff though without having to wait on CD.

  • @r.k.6680
    @r.k.6680 3 года назад +78

Great video! But for number 2 at the riding skill, i feel it's worth mentioning doing a battleground when you turn lvl 10, if you get your assault role to lvl 3, you can buy a passive wich makes your mount 30 percent faster. Really helps!

    • @TwinStripe
      @TwinStripe 2 года назад +9

You don't even need to do a battleground - do the cyrodiil intro quest (which just involves playing with some siege gear and finding out what an Elder Scroll does in PvP). 5 minutes, tops and pretty much zero effort.

  • @RaZeyLWindBladE
    @RaZeyLWindBladE 3 года назад +266

There's too many tips and tricks to be told in one video honestly. But here's my few tips that I have in my mind.
You can freely fast travel via wayshrines, guildmates or friends. You can travel all over the map and unlock the wayshrines just via the navigators that you can find in each zone, usually in a big city or the main city / town. You can also, "load screen travel" by travelling to someone's primary residence and exit that place through the regular entrances.
You don't have to join only 1 player guild. You can join up to 5, usually having trading guilds, pve guilds, solo guilds and so on. You can have a main guild that u usually interact with but have 4 more guilds for trading and finding players to do dungeons with.
Understand that largely, Light armor is for magicka based builds, medium armor is for stamina based and heavy armor is for tankish based builds. Theres alot of other combinations but its loosely based like this.
Passives are your best friends. They make or break a build and having some passives unlock with a few abilities is much better than having alot of abilities with none to litte passives unlocked.
Level everything. Take your time. Once you have level up everything, it gives you the leeway and opportunity to change your build in endgame if anything isn't up to your liking.
This game isn't meant to be taken all in one bite, like WoW or perhaps FF14. Its more... meandering, and usually rewards time more than effort. Some may be put off by it, others simply adore it for that reason. The good thing about this mmo is that you won't really be behind in terms of gear progression or builds because most of the characters power comes from cp levels and base game abilities. Dlc item sets are powerful but not gamebreaking. You can literally wear basic stuff like Hundings Rage and Automaton sets that are found in base game and be a great player at even trial levels, albeit normal modes.
Get the hang of the rotation, builds and sets and you are good to go.

Inteligence is your Capacity to learn fast and to learn more, for example a person with less inteligence Could Still learn, but at lower rate, and maybe Have less potential to learn more
What You Said Have nothing to do with Inteligence (Mental Capabilities), that is being Wise not inteligent, anyone Could become wise with time, he Could with time learn How to use his time and Energy, but another person with more inteligence (more mental potential) Could Still not be wise. We see that all The time, with scientist, artists, and other people, even vídeo game Creators, not using your potential in a more "Usefull" Thing dont mean you dont Have Inteligence, Just mean you dont Have interest in that, you dont know What other people Have experienced in their lives, and why that would be important or not, even What you Said being important would not be with we dont lived in a "modern Society", is you lived in a place where your only preocupation is to survive Alone, by hunting, doing your own food, and killing invaders, Just surviving, all you Said would be useless too

The damage boost you get from upgrading jewelry to gold that you've enchanted with weapon damage glyphs is definitely worth it. This will be pretty obvious, but...
Socialize. Making friends is the REAL currency in this game and any other MMO for that matter.
Join guilds, talk to people, join in on all sorts of activities. Jump in. Help out.
Speak up, let them know what you want to do, what you need help with.
More experienced players will teach you everything you need to know!
(and there is a lot to learn)
When I first started playing ESO it was a dream come true. Tamriel as an open world game. Amazing.
But I was NOT a fan of the MMO genre. So I played solo only.
This was a huge disadvantage. After six months I realized I was utterly stuck and the only way forward was to join a guild.
So I did. It was a bit scary and I really didn't want to - but I learned SO MANY things and could finally do all the harder/group content and make my character stronger!
This lead to other guilds, new friends, learning even more stuff, constantly evolving and improving. Having fun!
That was 5 years ago. I still push myself to make new friends and join new guilds. Keep expanding. It's well worth it.
The funny thing is, the more I played with other people, the more my inventory would fill up with gold, materials and sets all without even thinking much about it. Like silent rewards.
But on your own... it's gonna be a constant uphill struggle. Always low on gold. Always needing this and that.
So please. Throw yourself into this huge community. Make friends, learn stuff, have fun.
Sure, there might be some a**holes here and there. Ignore them. There are crappy guilds, too. Move on, find another guild.
Keep moving forward. There's always more to learn, there's always more to accomplish.
Mountains of gold for the taking. Blood and glory!
But you will not make it very far without friends. It's important.

Excellent tips, can vouch for these as being super important because most of the endgame ESO stuff is hard gated by time with no way to bypass actual real world time. It can be quite annoying as a new player. Though the game's still leaps and bounds ahead of where it began at launch, and even a year or so out from that point while they refused to change major design flaws.
Animation cancelling for instance is probably another thing i'd add to this list, in that learning how to do it early while leveling so you'll be used to it is important. I didn't like how the dev team handled it though, after admitting that it was unintended (meaning it was an exploitable bug), but then never addressed it, eventually just deciding to openly support leaving it in the game, without adding anything ingame like a tutorial to introduce every new player into methods for using it, leaving them to be behind the curve until they stumbled across and or googled it.

I’m CP 210 and still feel I know next to nothing. Lol. I’ve never seen such a huge game with so much to learn. I play solo as well. I’ve lvld my horse to 60 Speed and 30 Stam so far. Maxed out quite a few skills. Destruction & Restoration staff, Breton, Provisioning and lots of others. In the 40s of my clothing. Woodworking, Blacksmith as well. What I didn’t do though was upgraded my Undaunted, Fighters or Mage skills fast enough. I do Dailies like crafting, I’ve just started doing my Mages daily. I do daily dungeons but although I can hold my own ( I think) people run through them so fast I have no idea what is really going on it just run, kill mobs, check bookshelves, kill boss rinse and repeat. Lol. Anyway. I still love it. I’m on the coldharbour part of the main campaign and also playing through the latest expansion. My mistake I feel is I opened to many area quests at once and never focused on any one. I have abandoned quite a few and focused on a couple.

Doesn't really matter if you abandon story quests, because you can continue where you left off in the quest chain later and will only lose a small amount of progress on the current quest if you started it. The story lines are basically long chains of short quests strung together and eso keeps your place.

I have been playing for a while and I just keep making mistakes but I am old. Thankfully other players are helpful. I mainly solo PVE but getting into more group stuff. Did a dungeon the other day, suppose to be DPS, didn't realise one of the skills on my stamina Templar had 'taunt' the enemy for 15 seconds. Kept getting told I wasn't the tank, had no idea what was going on until I reviewed the skills. Trying to make it more DPS'ish now. That in itself is a learning process for me.
As a new player I made a major mistake with a world boss. I saw two people fighting this big old beast. I thought I will go and help. Was getting walloped by the monster, so ran for it. Pulled the monster out of the zone and it reset the stats. The other two guys were not happy. But you live and learn.

Not grinding and burning out is the best tip. And getting good at it.
Don't chase dailies and weeklies like it's a job, this will wither your soul.
Do what you feel like in the moment, and stop immediately when you're not having fun.
I recently reprogrammed myself and my attitude after gaming like a madman for 30 years.
Destiny was the last draw that broke my spirit.
But after focusing on ONLY having fun and fighting the reflex to go do those timed events or whatever it doesn't bother me to miss stuff. Which I don't, really, since now I can play games continuously without wanting to blow my brains out. So it's a win /win. But it takes time.
Almost like going to rehab for alcohol / substance abuse. Your brain needs to stop firing off neurons that signal for a dopamine injection as soon as you see "Double Exp Today Only!" message.
ESO is filled with explore galore. And ZOS reward the curious. Which is sweet if you're like me and "wonder what's behind that waterfall?". Often something. It's just something that puts the MMO in the genre, being a part of a living world.
In Destiny and many open world games, there was nothing, anywhere, unless it was a bug (Loot Cave).
    Take it easy and enjoy.
PS. From one recovering grinder to another maybe. If you're a gamer with a history of burning out, this rendering your hobby unwanted: NEVER only play one game. Find another game that you can wind down with or just gives you different input. It is the best thing I've done. I currently alternate between 5-6 games. Warframe, ESO, Titanfall 2, Battlefront 2, Risk of Rain 2, Divinity 2, etc. Works for me anyway 😘.
Hm, never noticed but, maybe it's the sequels that does it?! 😂
    👊

The first thing I would suggest is you get out there, explore, and fill out your maps. Nab every Wayshrine you can fine, so you unlock Fast Travel all over Tamriel. Don't focus on 1 Map, and try to sweep it exclusively. One thing that players, especially new players screwed themselves on at Launch is they would get to the first City, camp the nearest dungeon, tape down the Puncturing Sweeps button, and AFK. Which would get them up to level 50, and then they'd have nowhere to go. One Wayshrine, some Docks, and that's about it. Maybe 50 duplicates of the same set piece, which isn't enough to piece together a set Bonus. It's a huge interconnected world, so get out there, and get the world connected, so you have somewhere to go on your adventures.

Here's the biggest one I made: Try to stick to one character at the start. Learn the game and all the systems with just the one character, get that character to Level 50, get some CPs on them, maybe try make a proper build with them using full sets and skill loadouts. Only then should you consider making alt characters. I jumped around a lot between characters for a long time at the beginning, but once I finally stuck with my Dunmer Nightblade, made him my crafter, got him to level 50, I properly started to understand the game, and I found it so much easier to create alts. Not only because of the CPs you can assign to low level alts, but also because it's hard to learn the game when all you're seeing is the beginning over and over. Try find the end (or at least the middle where you actually kinda know what's going on) before starting again so you know what you're building toward and how to get there.

    ==Warning: Long comment ahead.==
I apologize for the length of this comment.t I edited every time a new topic came up in the video that I had something that I wanted to share about my own personal experience.
I completely agree with the mount training and the horse feeling like it's walking through molasses. After having my mount on my main character (which is still fairly new) reach 10% speed increase, and then being on my alt and her speed being at 1% (don't worry I've been working on increasing it ) I wasn't prepared for the slow down and for I bit I just ran places because she moved faster than her horse. I've become accustomed to moving faster.
in regards to skill points, I like I've been doing fairly well with this making sure I had at least one skill from each of my class lines in my skill bar (a couple class lines might have 2 skills). Then when I was able to have to skill bars I categorized my kills (skill bar 1 damage and weapon, skill bar 2 heals and armor). All my skill XP bars across the different categories have been leveling up fairly quickly and somewhat balanced. It has taken me a bit of trial and error to gauge when to switch between bars and when to cast what skill. In terms of morphing skills I've been focusing on class skills first and then weapon/armor and everything else after those.
For my attributes, I keep them pretty even because I want my characters to be versatile, and be able to do stamina and magicka dps and be able to take some damage when needed on my main (high elf warden), and I want to be able to do magicka healing and stamina damage on my alt (high elf templar).
I haven't upgraded weapons or armor on any of my characters. I just switch out when I pick up something better and keep something locked in my inventory so I can have it as a backup should something break that isn't really worth repairing.
I've been working on unlocking guild lines. However, I've been having issues with Undaunted on my main. I've been doing quests for Undaunted but I haven't been given the guild skill line. However, on my alt, she has the skill line and she only did one quest for the Undaunted to get it. Very frustrating to me.

2019 i started my 3rd char and played the morrowind chapter for the 3rd time and started enjoying the game.
My 2 biggest mistakes, when i started eso, were 1st: I compared eso to single player elder scrolls and got disappointed by the lack of immersion
2nd: I started training two types of weapon (for front and back bar) yet after 100 hours of playing
Bonus-mistake: i thought that dungeons are endgame content and i started dealing with them not before i reached cp 200 or something like that.

I'm definitely feeling like I leveled too fast. I got to 25 by clearing Western Skyrim and most of Deshaan, but then I worked up the nerve to do a random dungeon and never looked back. I was getting 1-2 levels with just that quest every day. I do have a bunch of skillpoints though as I'm a Skyshard hunter. My biggest problem now, is when I do a random dungeon, I'm getting stuff like Scalecaller Peak and White Gold Tower which I think are Veteran dungeons, and I'm clearly not ready for those yet. There doesn't seem to be much level 50 gear that's under 160 CP available, unless you queue specifically for it.

Ha its true; 1-50 lvl, in 5h sure np but nobody tells you how much afterwards is taken to get character playable, you need around 120 skill points to skill up, you need gear, you need to make that gear at trait you need, and all that may or may not cost a lot of money. So 5h of farming is not enough to be able to run that char in trials not by a long shot.

Mistake 1: Not focusing your mount training on speed first (At least to 20) even though extra bag space sounds so much more tempting.
Mistake 2: Not going to Cyrodiil as soon as you are able and doing the basic training quests, which will award you enough alliance points to get Assault rank 3 and be able to place a skill point in the "Continuous Attack" passive in the Assault skill line, which gives you Major Gallop (+30% mount speed) at all times.

I was very confused re guilds, as I didn't know there were two different kinds.
There's the Mages Guild and the Fighters Guild which are built into the game, and new players should join both for the "intimidating presence" and the "persuasive will" skills that will make your interactions with NPCs easier. Same with the other NPC-run guilds- Undaunted, Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild etc. These are all worthwhile and make your game playing richer.
Then there are the player-run guilds which are entirely different. There are hundreds of these, and you can be a member of 5, so choose as best as you can. They are a great way to meet other players, as they are run by real people who want to share fun in the game and grow communities. These guilds can have a variety of foci, such as trading guilds (who may have an NPC trader somewhere inworld where you can buy and sell with other players), trial and dungeon guilds (who meet to do dungeons, or 12-player trials and are immense fun), roleplay guilds (who meet to use ESO as a home for their rp scenarios), decorating guilds ( whose members love to buy, decorate and visit homes), or just plain ol social guilds. Many guilds will have competitions and games as well as guild homes, and are well worth joining.

After about four hours of playing Warframe and years playing RuneScape and about 100 hours of playing Guild Wars 2, I’m pretty keen on weird interfaces (especially Warframe jfc that was a nightmare for like an hour straight) so I’m glad ESO doesn’t overdo it. I just wish they’d tell you about a few more things.
I know for a fact that the devs would get a myriad of things to add to the list for the tutorial if they handed the game to a relative and took notes as they played with no unsolicited guidance from the dev. Imagine Todd Howard himself handing his uncle ESO and needing to take note of things like “mounts are accessible the entire time but they only know of the key to press at level 10” or “What do you mean there’s a stable?” or “why does this base game quest guide me to a dlc traveling point?”

I do have a few mistakes that should be known; for anyone looking into buying any motifs/ pages if under the assumption that motifs are shared across all characters. It is not.
Looking into becoming a crafter? Recommended to sacrifice a character slot so as to centralise any and all motifs that one comes across throughout their journey.
Want a quick exp boost? Using the Random Dungeon feature can offer more exp (pop an exp scroll aaaand BOOM!) The Return is by far more beneficial as they not only keep what they get from the random dungeon but they also get bonus items sent via mail. This resets on a daily too

I haven't put a lot of hours into ESO, over the years i keep trying ESO then giving up in less then a month due to annoyances like inventory limits, slow mount speeds and long travel times and more. I never really got into mount training, i thought it was just a hassle to find a mount trainer and only get 1% for entire day, it felt so discouraging i didn't bother. Now i came back to ESO again to make my 8th character, i literally have never played long enough to get a char above level 30 yet but if i've not played in months or years i feel like i want to start over. This time i expressed my frustration in chat how slow mounts are in this game, that this game has literally worst mounts in any MMO, someone told me about 30% mount speed by doing tutorial in Cryodil, i looked this up, did it and wow that 30% mount speed made a massive difference, i couldn't believe it. I also had a ton of crowns saved up from previous ESRo plus memberships so i then also bought like 4 packs of mount speed on store giving me another 40% and OMG, i've never enjoyed ESO more, i'm now almost about to hit 50 on my brand new character which is now my main and all because i'm actually enjoying the game with the mount speed increase. I also been logging in to all my 8 characters every day to invest mount speed so if i play my other chars later down the road they will also have a nice mount speed boost, especially when i do 30% pvp one. I don't like PVP so i never knew or would have known bout 30% skill unless someone told me. That's a really ridiculous oversight on dev's part that discourages PVE players, puts them at a massive disadvantage, why? i don't get it. I also been watching a lot of videos like this and feel more confident then ever i'll stick around in ESO longer then i have in the past and already looking forward to next update and trading card game too.

One more thing that some people tend to do (at least those enjoying alts). Do not ever start an alt before before hitting 50 with previous character. Some people tend to start right away multiple characters but in here this is effectively just making getting to anywhere harder. If you want to test multiple classes then just play it for a bit like to level 20. This should give enough idea if the mechanic suits you or not. Otherwise play to 50, get some champion points first and then you can get back to alts as champion points cannot be earned by characters below level 50 but can be used by them.

#1 I see is not allocating enough health to avoid getting one shot in routine content (especially in dungeons). This is exacerbated because the game scales your health up early on and players don't notice that as they level up and allocate points to stam or magicka their health drops off dramatically, because levelling attributes is really just switching them around... It is really very confusing how this works, because you are at your weakest when you first get to level 50, which is highly unintuitive.
As an example: My latest ALT had 28k health (in PvP which has a 5K boost) at level 40 when I made some new crafted gear. But now at level 46 is down to less than 20k with the same gear.

Also research one slot for each item type first, then 2 slots etc as the time cost of researching increases dramatically the more traits you have researched. And don't be afraid to put a load of skill points into research so you can research multiple items as you can easily respec your character's skills if you need to.

I can name tons of MMOs that do combat better... but in terms of immersion and story telling ESO is at the top of the top...
So yeah... just go through the game slowly and enjoy it cause you only play through a great story for the first time once... power leveling is the best way to hate this game...

@@sportschool3537 indeed. I hate grinding in MMOs, i dont like multiplayer games in general. ESO feels like a singleplayer game that you can also play in multiplayer if you want. The storylines are all awesome and immersive, it all looks fantastic, diverse and grand and never it falls into the pit of making you endlessly, boringly grind for new powers, new content or achievements, i mean you can, if you want, but the great thing is that you don't have to and still play countless hours enjoying it.

I am a new player and that's the line to head for. So as a new player telling me what to hold till then to ensure I don't lose resources is really helpful.
So in short, get out your mums basement, stop complaining, and maybe do something helpful like this content creature

    Both are only supplement thoughts:
    For the #3 mistake:
Please note, that there are skill lines, which will NOT benefit from gaining XP while playing - so for those skills - only the skill itself will level up! Mage Guild, Fighters Guild, Undaunted, Werewolf, Psijic and Soul Magic - all of those skill lines level up in another way
    For the #5 mistake:
The moment you get out of the beginner zone - go straight for the nearest Wayshrine and to Vuhlkel Guard / Daggerfall / Davon's Watch to unlock Mage Guild and Fighters Guild skill lines - before you even read 1 lorebook on the way! Reason for this: Fighters Guild skill line will level up passively on your way by killing any undead and daedra + destroying Anchors, while Mage Skill line will ONLY level up by reading Lore Books. You can even complete both Guild quest lines and you will still see their skill lines not completed, because the guild quests themselves actually don't add anything to the leveling up of their own skill lines. Then when you hit level 10 - you go back to the same city and talk to the Undaunted, and do their entry quest

thank you!!! I just started my first hours in eso (the free to play) I wanted to play for so long but my pc was too slow and I have Nintendo instead of xbox/playstation. I played skyrim on nintendo and tho it is bugged as hell, I really loved the game. I have my new pc today so first thing I did was download eso, lucky me there are still 5 days free to play.
I liked and followed cause I probably will need a lot of help lolol
