Just done this tutorial…..thoroughly loved doing it…loved some of the techniques shown…definitely makes a difference to getting the right textures etc….love it, Thank you John. Your an excellent teacher.
Thank you for this lesson. I’m a seventy year old complete beginner, and watching you doing it helped a great deal, particularly with bushes. Mine usually end up as dark blobs, but I’m quite pleased with my attempt! Getting used to manipulating the brushes accurately is the thing I find hardest, and maybe I use the wrong brush sometimes. Your explanations are excellent!
Hi Mick thanks for your comment. Most of my videos are for complete beginners, so I am glad to see that this one of the Scottish castle helped you. There are plenty more videos on the channel so hopefully they will be of some help to you. Keep on painting. It is a good hobby. Cheers
Hi John, Loved the negative painting method of adding shape and shadow to the trees and bushes. A video solely on doing tnegative painting like this would be a great help to us. Thank you
Thanks for your reply. Glad to see you are enjoying the videos. I like to take time on the colour mixing as it is so important in watercolour painting. Keep on painting cheers
John, I don't feel this is at beginner's level. Lots of little details not mentioned, ie, brush size, paper etc. Thank you for sharing this lovely painting.
@@JohnGifford47 I understand that I need to keep practicing, but sometimes want to give up. But I won't because for an afternoon I switch off from the stresses and strains of modern life and find it very therapeutic. The problem is that when mixing colours they always seem to be too dark. Thank you for replying to my comment.
Hi Julia, thanks for your comment. Don't give up keep trying. I have just uploaded a new video for beginners , which might help you. Why not give it a go. "traditional Watercolour Landscape Painting for beginners" cheers

Have given this a go. I did find it difficult and again I never seem to get the colours quite right.
