This product has long been available in the gear fishing world from Fuji. I'm glad to see it in the fly-fishing world, and I love the idea of using it on a vise for articulated flies.
Just placed my order for one. Was in the area last week and had the opportunity to drop by the store. The folks there are so extremely nice and helpful. I went in just looking at a rod and ended up leaving with one among other things. Sam, Pat, Buff, & Brian were all so kind and it was a pleasure to meet them. Thank you all. If I ever get back that way from SC I will definitely be back by. Until then, I just keep on ordering!
I like the use of it on the rod. Most of the people I know use small hair clips for the vise, but it is an option. And if you already have the Loon one, you can take it back & forth from rod to vise.
I can see that’ll help me with keeping my tippet out of the rings when storing the rod while it’s setup. I find the factory installed on is not ideally located all the time, this is nice and flexible. Thanks for the highlight.

Why wouldn’t you just hook it to a guide and wrap the leader around the reel? That keeps the leader out of the end of the rod, preventing a kink in the butt section…I also usually fish long leaders…
We have shown that method many times in videos. Some folks just prefer a hook keeper. As Brian also states here, he really finds the value at the vise.

But the fact that he designed out hook keepers and this product is like the total anti that, I couldn't pass on it. Placing an order this week, my Orvis rods need this and I have a friend with a couple more rods this would help. 👍
I use two of these spaced about a foot apart on my Tenkara rod to wrap my line around when moving spots, its really convenient since Tenkara rods don't have any line holders built into them.

Some tenkara rods add a pair them free to hold line
Looks better than the Fuji version. Having multiple o rings is super clutch

This would be great for nymphing with a 2nd nymph or a dry dropper when you can only hook one at a time. Now you can hook both flies!

Why would a fly rod not include a hook keeper?
Many don't....especially 8wt and up.
I simply put the hook in the cork. :D
Most people try to stay away from that…..but you can if you want!
I wouldn’t buy a rod without a hook keeper, the manufacturer is trying to cut corners$.
