    Such a great pattern by a phenomenal fly tyer/designer.
    Some new techniques for me to learn in this one....Always excited to learn something new, especially when the payoff is something this cool!!

    My fishing buddy is a retired Navy Seal. He will now have a new mission: rescuing the hung up fly from my bad casting. I wouldn’t want to lose all the tying effort and fish catching abilities of that fly!

      Nick wray Mark was in buds class 108. Ed Winters was his first JG. I kept his bird dogs when he shipped out for Iraq and Afghanistan. I went to his wedding and retirement ceremony, so I didn’t check with Don. Glad you asked. It does piss off the guys that served.

      Charles Loftis It’s funny. Many of those down votes happen seconds after the video is released. Haters giving downvotes like that both provide engagement for the video and prove that they are subscribed to our channel. Both of those things actually help our channel!! Joke’s on them!

    Love that comb gonna get one! I used a lice comb and then to fluff I used a my cat's brush b/c that is what I had. Worked great. I also recommend using CS UV Blast. Hold the spray a distance away so only the finest mist hits the fibers. It will glow like a night light and add an awesome sheen. I also used some tungsten weights I use for bass fishing. Didn't have beads that big.

    What great pattern! Your blending method is very effective & quite in tempo with the music. :-)
    My guess is this fly will be excellent in saltwater, anywhere there are sculpins which is pretty much everywhere. The action in the water is very realistic.

    Here I am tying up some toads for a Tarpon trip and this comes up , will finish the toads and go to plan B . Plan B tie some of these , if they swim like they do in the video this will be the best sculpin pattern . Might even tie some of these in white , black , and purple with a little less weight to try out on the tarpon . In the mean time go Raiders :-)

    Amazing pattern! Wow!!! The way it moves in the water is so natural and attractive. Absolutely awesome creation and I can't wait to start working a bunch of these up.
    Questions: I have a bunch of large crab eyes and it looks like I could incorporate them into the tying of the EP body and prop them upward resting on top the last EP bunch. Would you recommend trying this or do you feel that its not worth the extra work and just use the black resin?
    Great videos and really love this one. 🤙

    Hey Cheech, sweet swimmin’ pattern. How do you think dubbing would do for the body? Like a sideways dubbing head. Thought it would help blend/taper into the tail but not sure of the property differences to the EP.

  • @barneyewing2664
    @barneyewing2664 4 года назад +1

    Great fly. I find it easier to taper the rabbit strip after it's tied in and the hook clamped in the vise. kind of gives you a third hand.

    Hey Cheech. This pattern is insane. Would you say the EP Fiber 3-D "Everglade" blend (looking at your online store) is roughly the same as your custom black/brown/olive mix? Asking for a friend that tries to cut corners...

  • @Flyrodder68

    you know enrico make a 3d blend where you domt have to go through the blending...also highly reccomended is Congo hair 1/8 the price twice as much product...same thing as ep fibres

    • @FlyFishFood
      @FlyFishFood  4 года назад +1

      Lee Nisenholz none of the blends are how i like my colors but they work in a pinch. Also, I think Congo hair lacks the sheen that EP has.

  • @Podobed
    @Podobed 4 года назад

    I like the blending techniques. Reminds of a fly Steve Ferrar tied in the 90's, his baby flounder where he used tungsten powder and epoxy to weight the center belly. The movement is pretty dead on but the profile is WAY off. They aren't flat. You can see outside of the flat head they are nearly cylindrical.
