@sbergman27 I strongly recommend the purchase of an SD card. I use it exclusively to keep backups of all my programs and configuration(s). It also lets me transfer my programs and/or configuration over to other HP-50g's ... friends, students, etc. Steps to create a backup: (1) type in alpha mode and issue the command PUSH (this captures and sends the configuration of the calculator, including the flags over to the stack; (2) type in alpha mode and issue the command ARCHIVE :3:MYBCKUP

As the first sign in a line, do not use the "minus" sign. Type the "X" first, then press the change sign key, +/- that is on just above the "7" key. The "minus" means that you are subtracting "from something already on the line", but there is nothing yet. Try it.

    very nice video, thanks.
note for hpprime user, hpprime, have same feature but with command linsolve :
    linsolve([7*x-2*y=y+a, -x=2*x-5*y],[x,a])

Thank you for your amazing videos , i like the way you explain the use of HP 50G , go ahead, we want more ! (time conversion, HMS etc for exemple).
    Thanks a lot !

Worked for me on my HP49g+ with ROM 2.15! The display is a little different from following your updating settings, but the procedure works. I got an Undefined Name a few times but got past that.

Thank you on both counts. By the way, is that a ukulele or a cuatro in your picture?

@blajsad Use the key with the 'y to the x' symbol. If you are computing in RPN, enter the base, y, enter the exponent, x, then push the y^x key. If you are writing an expression in the equation writer, then type the base and, just before typing the exponent, push y^x, etc.

Amazing Channel. Thank You for sharing your knowledge. Am a proud owner of a HP48Gx. Is there a way (also as external library) to do the same with my machine that is not entering the equation as a matrix? Best regards and thanks

Do refer to the video on "Setting up the HP-50g" in this channel (I tried to include the link, but RUclips won't let me. Search, in this channel, for hp01.

Thank you very much for this video. The user manual doesn't go into very clear details on how to do this most important type of problem for the 50G.

Hi! Can anyone please help me? I'm looking to get the sum of all the values in a list.
So I have in stack 1 {1 2 3 1}, for example. And I want the calculator to return 7 (which is 1+2+3+1).

      Try this little program: 1 SWAP 1 - START + NEXT >>
That should do the trick. Check other videos in this series on how to type and save programs. The function OBJ-> can be found at [WHITE-SHIFT]/PRG/TYPE/OBJ->.

How do I make my calculator to show the array in two lines ?. On my HP 50g when I press ENTER the array shows in one line - stack level 1 ?

Thanks, I'll spend this summer checking out your videos and learn more about the Hp.
I have 1 question though, is there a way to make a program that changes the flags on the calculator when you run it? I often run out of battery (Once a month maybe), so it's kind of annoying to run over the flags again and again. Since I got a Flash card for this same reason, to avoid loosing programs and the like, I was wondering if I could do the same with flags.
Thanks for your videos again, really helpful.

In a program, the command is SF. In RPN, if you want to set flag 17, . What I do, whoever, is to backup the entire machine, setup and all. First you issue the command PUSH, then (with the card inserted in the slot), type :3:backup (or any other name, :3: indicates the card), and issue the command ARCHIVE. That will store all programs, all flags, and all data to the card. It is in fact an "image" of the calculator. When and if you lose the calculator data, insert the card and issue, :3:backup RESTORE, once the machine comes to a top, issue POP, and you are ready.

Very good video ., and i want to thank you for that . i want to know can you make a program which take as input the coefficient value like i this case of A and then solve fo my variable such as X , Y ?

Thank you, Miss Sharif. On your question, I am afraid that my answer is "I don't know, I have never tried." And the extended answer is ... do try it, and please, if it works report back or even better, make a video and send me the link and I will link it so others can see it too.

Why does hp50g in this video neatly shows equations each in separate rows, but my 50g and in other videos it writes it in one long line

Have a look at the video "My Set up for the HP-50g", one of the 128 configuration flags instructs the calculator whether you prefer vectors to be displayed horizontally or vertically. I do not remember which one off the top of my head. But it is there.
