Hi Steve, I bought 50" x80k my problem is the resolution it's only appear 1440p with 120hz on my xbox . My Xbox said your tv don't support 4k😢😢😢 , hope you can solve my problem 🙏🙏🙏
I remember you stating that you tested these TVs in the Cinema mode. I'm not sure if you still have these, but in case you wish to try them again, according to Rtings's pre-calibration color accuracy results, with both TVs in the Custom picture mode, Color Temperature set to Expert 1, and Gamma set to 0, the X85K's color accuracy scored a 9.0/10 with a white balance dE of 1.82 and a color dE of 1.05, while the X80K scored an 8.6/10 with a white balance dE of 2.02 and a color dE of 1.36.

I was not impressed at all. Returned it and got the Hisense U7G and I am beyond happy. Waaaay better than the X80K.
@Tech Steve Hello Tech Steve. Thank you for your videos. I’m a woman who doesn’t know much about TV’s but I can say that out of the TV’s I have purchased in the past I like my Sony tv best. With that being said, I need a little help. I’m not a gamer but I do plan to by a cheap portable retro PACMAN game that plugs into a HDMI port but I mainly use my tv for watching movies on streaming services/firestick. It’s about a $170 different between the two right now. Which tv do you think will work best for my needs? Thank you 🙏🏾

@@TechSteve I did, but their manual makes it very confusing! So funny how you “google” this and no answers. Looks like I’ll have to make my own video on how to do this when I get mine
I'm looking for a good mid-range TV in the 2000-2500 USD range that is good in a dark room and doesn't have burn-in. What should I get? I've been looking for X91J and X95j everywhere but can't find the damn things (canada).
LG G2 by FAR. It’s one of the brightest and most reliable OLED’s because 1. OLED’s are PERFECT for dark rooms because they produce infinite contrast due to self-lit pixels (no big backlight) 2. They added a heat sink to further avoid burn-in rumors and 3. They make their own panels(which are fantastic), unlike Sony.
@@NLCoversNo thanks, i don't need to be worried about burn in and how many hours TV should be on besides that, i never play or watch movies in a complete dark room so...maybe in a near future i will get my first OLED but for now Im ok with Led Full Array Local Diming TV ✌️
My x80k looks like it has a orange cloudy look when turn the tv on and off in the top left corner. But when watching movies and it has dark scenes I don’t see it. So I’m not sure why that is I was hoping it’s not an issue cuz it doesn’t seem to be one when watching tv. But I’m not sure why it pops up like that when turning the tv on and off
Question 🙋🏻 for @techsteve …. From your experience… is OLED TV’s still the best TV for picture quality ❓❓ if so … what is the top new OLED today to purchase.
Is it just me or does the x85k look so bright to the point it washes out the colour and make the picture look unnatural? The x80k seems like it has more natural colours. Even tho the x80k is 60hz, that doesn't seem to be a factor here. 60 fps max on a game is more than sufficient to have a premium gaming experience, even though I don't have a ps5 or xbox, this won't matter to me anyways. I bought the x80k for watching TV and movies. We'll see how it fairs in my fairly bright living room.
One thing I wanted to point out, the camera you're using to record the footage adjusts exposure to the brightest image in frame, meaning the x85k with the brighter panel looks better while the less brighter x80k looks worse. That's why the x80k looked way worse in the video than how you described it, so, what you were seeing was not what was captured by the camera. Otherwise, great video!
I know that, I’m using a Sony fx3 and I also adjust to the brighter TV, if you look on my channel i have over 300 TV video so there was alot of trial and error m. Now I film in HLG HDR and convert to rec. 709 for the masses.

what size are these? Im pretty sure everything but the 50" X80k is IPS
Which would you recommend for TV viewing the X85K or the Samsung 85 class Q80BD series tv? Both are the same price at Costco, just not sure which one I should buy. Will not be using for gaming.
I feel like cinema is just dark idk why so many people like it tbh. Standard and vivid seem nice. Unless we are getting super picky
I have the sony bravia 50x85k and some shadow is seen in the corners of the panel, this only happens in light colors especially in white, is this normal? Or is it a defect?
Hi Steve, I bought 50" x80k my problem is the resolution it's only appear 1440p with 120hz on my xbox . My Xbox said your tv don't support 4k😢😢😢 , hope you can solve my problem 🙏🙏🙏
1440p with 60hz a mean then 1080p with 120hz
Did you turn on the hdmi enhanced, also that’s a 60Hz TV
I remember you stating that you tested these TVs in the Cinema mode. I'm not sure if you still have these, but in case you wish to try them again, according to Rtings's pre-calibration color accuracy results, with both TVs in the Custom picture mode, Color Temperature set to Expert 1, and Gamma set to 0, the X85K's color accuracy scored a 9.0/10 with a white balance dE of 1.82 and a color dE of 1.05, while the X80K scored an 8.6/10 with a white balance dE of 2.02 and a color dE of 1.36.
Interesting note. I also refer to rtings from time to time. With that being said, do you think it would be worth it to upgrade to the X85K from the X75h? Main use being watching movies. No gaming at all.
I can't find an X75H. So I can't answer you.
@@chriskelly1740 it's normally the x7500H
@@dancerehab1092 I did find an X750H. The X85K might be newer, is definitely a little brighter, and has lower color AND white balance delta Errors, as well as a better native contrast without Local Dimming.
@@chriskelly1740 that's the one. Would it make sense say a budget upgrade...keeping in mind I'll not be upgrading again for like the next 4years.

Hi Steve hope you can help me I have an x80k I requested a reminder for a tv show . The show has come and gone but still to this day getting this reminder I factory reset my fire stick still getting reminder.
Thanks for including test in dark room. That is great and must have option for TV review.
Which one should I get VA panel on 50 Inch of x80k or IPS panel on 55 Inch
55" 👍
Hey Techsteve... I just purchased X85K sony 85 inch. Under the display specs it says "Display Panel : LCD" kind of worrying me and curious to know if this is a LCD tv or LED.. Can you enlighten me ?
Are these tvs the KD85x80k and KD85x85k ??? Only $200 difference between the two, i wanted to buy the kd85x80k everywhere they say its a 120hz refresh rate tv, now im confused a bit 😳
Do you think i should get the x85k or or the lg qned 80 series? i need a 50 inch for my room that I will need to use for gaming(ps5 and pc) and watching 4k blurays and some hdr content. Ive been i balling the lg qned for the vibrant colors and because it has geforce now capabilities but the sony tv might work better for my ps5. Which do you recommend seeing as how they are both the same price for the 50 inch?
How do these go head to head with Rokus Newest Plus Series TV?
Well put review . Cleared a lot of doubts with ease 👍👍
Question. I have the x85j and is giving me issues with the WiFi connection, loosing connection even after a restart on both the TV and router....any ideas why
Update your router or check the firmware
@@TechSteve ok I'll check when I get home tonight, thanks
Which tv would be better in a completely dark room with the walls and ceiling painted black? Thank you for this review btw!

mixed bag, but x85k 43" price is close to LG C2 42" OLED's. Great comparison, thanks a lot!
Not sure which Tv to get under $600 but I’ll probably get the Sony x85k.Need it for gaming. Any recommendations? Or go for the X85k?
@WhatthedunkSb - For gaming, the X85K is the clear winner as it features two 2.1 HDMI ports for 120 Hz gaming on either the PS5 or Xbox Series X.
Thank you so much!!! 😊😊😊😊
You’re welcome Brandon
will sony x80k 55'' get VRR support update?
I recently purchased the X80K and it definitely looked just like what your video showed. Horrible blooming and spotting on the right side of the panel. Color looked faded/washed and not bright. I was not impressed at all. Returned it and got the Hisense U7G and I am beyond happy. Waaaay better than the X80K.
What size was your x80k?
blooming is not possible because it has no local dimming. maybe it was clouding.
X85k is very perfect for gaming also. I love it 👍👍
How about movies

@Tech Steve Hello Tech Steve. Thank you for your videos. I’m a woman who doesn’t know much about TV’s but I can say that out of the TV’s I have purchased in the past I like my Sony tv best. With that being said, I need a little help. I’m not a gamer but I do plan to by a cheap portable retro PACMAN game that plugs into a HDMI port but I mainly use my tv for watching movies on streaming services/firestick. It’s about a $170 different between the two right now. Which tv do you think will work best for my needs? Thank you 🙏🏾
Can this TV provide VRR functionality if I connect to my laptop with AMD Radeon RX6800M??
I don’t have a vrr video card to test
holy shit finally someone has the same menu UI at the bottom... now if i could just find a resolution locks option :(
Thank you so much for this review. This was exactly the comparison I was looking for👌
You’re welcome Savage One
@@TechSteve exactly the type of comparison needed, thanks. Will be a new subscriber now.
How has TVs changed since 2016? Have 55X850D with manufacturing date August 2016. X85K vs 55X850D?
Do you have videos that are for the models with the IPS panel since most of the screen size are IPS.
X80j is the closest
Which one better for ps5
I am curious, any chance we can see last years model X85J vs the new X85K?
Sample footage here ruclips.net/video/fCOFWcmHz7k/видео.html
Hi Steve! I have a Sony X85K 75” coming tomorrow. I am using my same wall mount, so is there anyway you can tell me the screw size I need for the back of the Tv? I’m pretty sure it’s m8, but I don’t know the mm length.
Or it might be m6 20mm , or M6 10-12 mm! if I read correctly. Little confused
I’m not sure, check Sony’s website
@@TechSteve I did, but their manual makes it very confusing! So funny how you “google” this and no answers. Looks like I’ll have to make my own video on how to do this when I get mine
I'm looking for a good mid-range TV in the 2000-2500 USD range that is good in a dark room and doesn't have burn-in. What should I get? I've been looking for X91J and X95j everywhere but can't find the damn things (canada).
Same probably best place to buy order models is online like Amazon
LG G2 by FAR. It’s one of the brightest and most reliable OLED’s because 1. OLED’s are PERFECT for dark rooms because they produce infinite contrast due to self-lit pixels (no big backlight) 2. They added a heat sink to further avoid burn-in rumors and 3. They make their own panels(which are fantastic), unlike Sony.
@@NLCovers I want an 85 inch and that's not happening under 2500
@@NLCoversNo thanks, i don't need to be worried about burn in and how many hours TV should be on besides that, i never play or watch movies in a complete dark room so...maybe in a near future i will get my first OLED but for now Im ok with Led Full Array Local Diming TV ✌️
LG Qned Mini LED
I prefer x80k
I like the darker black in x80k
Yeah 85k has to much light takes away from the dark spot details
I just bought the 65 inch x80k , I love it coming from a Samsung 65in 6 series that stop working after only 4 years
My x80k looks like it has a orange cloudy look when turn the tv on and off in the top left corner. But when watching movies and it has dark scenes I don’t see it. So I’m not sure why that is
I was hoping it’s not an issue cuz it doesn’t seem to be one when watching tv. But I’m not sure why it pops up like that when turning the tv on and off
What is the best tv in between x80j vs x80k in respect of picture quality, picture upscaling, motion flow, brightness and contrast ??
is sony 50x80k have IPS panal or VA

They both are 50” most of the X80K TVs are IPS accept for this size and all of the X85K are VA

Question 🙋🏻 for @techsteve …. From your experience… is OLED TV’s still the best TV for picture quality ❓❓ if so … what is the top new OLED today to purchase.
You can never go wrong with LG.
@@alessandroher09 Sure... xD
Sony or Samsung QD-OLED or u can go Sony or Philips OLED too, but minileds good too! LG sucks!!!
@@TechSteveI am planning to buy the Sony x80k so was looking at review videos and found yours. I did not look at your latest videos before commenting so I didn't know. These comparisons you do are wayy better now! Thanks for your reply!
Thanks, filming TVs is no easy task, but I’m doing it more than others and some people don’t realize that this channel was built off of my own money. And very few sponsorships
