I literally JUST bought the 65 X90L, for a really good trade in offer for my old 2016 Sony 4K Bravia, paid 1225 + 90 for extended warranty, without discount they sell them for 1799 (and even is the cheapest price I could find on a price tracking website) so I'm really happy with this deal :D only problem is when I went to trade in my old TV and tried loading the 65 in the back of the car, it didn't fit lol, but the store kindly offered to deliver it, if all goes well I should have it tomorrow :D Can't wait
But those prices you show are very cheap compared to the Netherlands (and I guess EU overal)
@Kalder. Try out that Bravia core they give you 5free movies to watch
@Kalder. I’ve heard that before
@@TechSteve Do you have to register any payment data to be able to watch those 5 free movies? Or do you just need an account?
I love the longevity of Sony TVs! My oldest TV is a Sony 55 inch 3D, it's now 13 years old and still plays like it's brand new.
I have a strong feeling we have the same model. I looked it up and it's from 2010. I got it off a charity store this year for $150US and it still holds up to this day. Once a flagship, always a flagship.
Absolutely ! I still own a rear projection SONY Grand Vega which is around 20 years old … still works !!
hx855? still looking at it aswell^^
Same my old Sony Bravia died last week after 14 years. I just replaced it with a 65" Bravia XR X90L. Did not consider getting another brand.
Just picked up Sony XR-75X90CL at Costco on sale for $1499.99 with included extra 3 yr. Warranty total 5yr. I’ve had 2 prior 75 inch crap out on me one for M-Board and Tcon and the other with solid blackout on 1/3rd upper screen. And I just returned an LGQNED that had a beautiful picture only at Zoom in but backgrounds were horrible blurred out tried all the different settings and I couldn’t get rid of the Blair out. The Olympics were blurry in the background. We’ll see how the 90CL performs. Thanks for your post.
Thanks for the review... Just purchased the 75in Sony X90L today and this confirms that I made the right choice.
@@stanleyhache1626 how is it jst purchased today
Best bang for the buck. Seems they’re already dropping prices too making it an even better buy! At least here in the states besides the A95L, this tv definitely has had the most change which makes sense since it’s like their top seller here in the states.
I love that Sony used one of your videos on their Facebook page! I’ve been watching you for a few years and I really enjoy your non bias opinions and truth about what you see! Keep it going man! You do great videos .
Thanks
Just watched your X90K video not realizing I had the X90L until you talked about the lack of gaming mode, thanks for also making a video on this model!
So far the best video about Sony Bravia , no special tools for calibration, no need to go to college and get a master in video, simple and short explanations, however you forgot to mention how to get rid of the “soap opera effect” 🤦♂️
Great review/ demo, Steve . You amaze me with your abilities to always give a thorough, nonbiased deep dive on these amazing platforms. Most of the time, my head is ready to melt, from features packed into these newer TVs. AND I Could say that I'm in the market to replace my Samsung that I managed to break the left side of the screen from the legs/stand,just fitting into my the width of my Old stand that I've had for too long, so now the left side of my panel I can no longer read the menu options and the of course how it affects the picture quality. I'm not sure if it is something that could be repaired or not if I had not been paying off several thousands of dollars of medical bills. I would likely had replaced it months ago, especially since it was a gift from my Son. Thank you again for all of the hard work you put in doing these super reviews.
You’re absolutely welcome
I just did 3ish hours of gaming on the 65 inch model and im blown away
So far I'm on my first Bravia 87" I have been using Hisense after my Samsung got upgraded... great video as always
I had the older 75’ K version from Costco for less than seven months before it got the infamous fade to black screen. Luckily, Costco and Sony warranty department have been absolutely outstanding. After sending them pictures and videos of the issue, Sony is sending me this L version in a few days. Thank you for this video Steve.
That’s great
Bought the K model also from Costco was really never happy with it. Picture was never sharp and crisp looking no matter wha I did in settings. Was getting ready to send back then for some reason picture was crisp and sharp with no other issues. Guess time will tell.
Same as you. Bought the 90K from Costco 6 months ago and it seems picture got better as time went on.
@@croozer30ify I have the 75 inch X95K - picture quality looked washed out and dull..just ordered the 55 inch X90L because it seems to look a lot crisper and brighter and more vibrant than x95k
@michaellubeck8464 what source are you using?
I just want to say thank you Steve. Really appreciate your channel and detailed reviews! From your review, I just bought this Sony TV on Amazon in the 55 inch class for my bedroom. I absolutely love this TV, it looks beautiful and it does everything I need. I was debating between the 55 and 65 inch TV.. Glad I went with the 55, gives a nice theater vibe in my room without being too large for the space. I'm very happy with the LED, this TV is amazing to me.
Micah
I appreciate it Micah, glad the video helped
Awesome review for the past years I’ve been watching your videos to help me with gaming tvs, movies for cinema and other qualities amazing going into detail about each and every tv you go through
The best review of X90L. Many thanks.
You’re welcome
I purchased this tv, and it is fantastic. I would like to go through and calibrate it to see if it can do more. Out of the box with custom settings for motion and power saving mode changes, the images are phenomenal. It's a buy to me.
How does 1080 content from built in RUclips app look? For example, play Dream Scenario trailer, does the first scene look super pixelated?
Or Iron Claw trailer, does the A24 logo at the beginning look pixelated?
Great review. Its this review that made me get the x90L. Brandon is actually going to help me install this tomorrow.
Oh great
@@TechSteve it was awesome meeting you today. Thanks for stopping by and lending a hand :)
Absolutely, how are you liking it? Hope my review gave the right expectations.
@@TechSteve It definitely did! Haven't watched too much on it yet but I'm really happy I went with at least a 85" TV. Colors seem accurate and natural. It's not as vivid or punchy as some of the more expensive OLEDs but i definitely agree with you that Sony has great color science. Overall things just look really good despite not having top end specs.
@stevelui278 great to hear. Glad you’re happy 👍🏽
Thanks Steve. Still making my decision but you have convinced me to pay more for Sony to get the best of what I want.
Generally Sony allows for more blooming, but you lose less shadow detail. It's a choice, but generally I like the choice Sony makes because I watch a ton of stuff with dark scenes and keeping the detail is more important to me than losing the blooming.
Great insight
Agreed, plus from what I'm hearing the blooming shown in videos isn't as bad in real life situations, I should be getting the 65 tomorrow, and if the blooming is really that bad I'll adjust the settings to lessen it (even if it raises the blackfloor and lowering contrast)
@@High.on.Life_DnB the biggest reason I go with Sony over other brands is that their processing of low bit rate content is much better. I have DirecTV stream. I work a PT weekend job selling TVs. I get to play with the displays at the store. LG and Samsung typically keep their displays pretty locked down, but the open box TVs are another thing entirely. I've seen several brands running DirectTV stream in the store, and Sony cleans it up better than the others.
Generally I'm not impressed with either the U8K or the QM8. While the U8K is super bright (there is a demo running on it that is almost too bright), the processing just isn't there. With that being said, we are moving into a new house and if the living room is as bright as I think it will be, then a U8K is in my future. It will mostly be used for news, Dr Pimple Popper, True Crime shows, Home improvement shows, and cooking shows. The TV in the basement that will be used for movies will certainly be a Sony.
Also what no one mention is that the default setting for auto local dimming is medium and if u put it on high it gives u even less blooming at the cost of slightly less detail in very small highlights but its a good trade off for those who care about blooming a lot because u lose less detail than other TVs with the high setting but medium u lose no detail and blooming is handled good enough for me
So I got my 65 x90l, and daaammnnn I am NOT disappointed !!! If I didn't know better and you'd tell me it was an OLED TV, I'd believe you! The only thing that let's you know it's not an OLED is the viewing angle, but in my living room that's not a big issue.
I've never experienced such great black levels on a non OLED TV... And as I said before the blooming is FAAAARRR less visible in real life, I only really notice it with like white on black post movie credits, but even there it's not annoying me at all... In fact, when I look at a bright lamp in the dark, I'll also see some form of blooming around the lamp (this might be caused by the astigmatism I have in my eyes, but I've always had that so I don't know better, I still see everything, just very bright objects can cause weird lines and blooming effect in my eyes)... So to me it actually feels natural...
Excellent review! Thanks for that I've been looking at the 85" to replace a faulty Hisense thats being refunded and this just confirmed it's a great choice!
Exactly the same situation as me!
@@pjcliffo we've had the X90cl for about a month now and I can't fault it, different experience all together.

Great review king, just got this tv and needed to know how to make the most of it. Also got an Apple TV plus but definitely am gonna need that Bravia core for movies sheesh! Keep up the great work!
Great video Steve - that was hugely informative. Thanks 👍
Great review as you stayed away from just reading specs that most do..............we can do that. Keep showing real world viewing and step downs through menus. Best reviewer so far. Got more from your review than the dozen of previous reviews by others. The sound was good in headphones.
Sorry your didn't show a 1080P picture without upscaling. Please ad that to all your TV reviews. I use OTA and internet mostly and my current TV is a Sony KDL-40 1080P with a great picture.
Looking the 55 inch version of this tv. Thanks for the review. I need a new MacBook but this may come first.
Just ordered the X90L 85 inch after weighing it against the Samsung QN85C, tough choice but I went for the Sony. This video is, and will be, very helpful, thank you!
Me too, how much did you pay?
UPS is delivering my x90l today...what a beautiful picture Steve
Mine is coming tomorrow 😀
It’s excellent, right
You will love it
@TechSteve so I'm watching my x90l after getting like 2 hours ago. I do love it actually. It very much reminds me of the x900f I had a few years back, which was my favorite TV, that I regretfully sold when I got my LG C1..I was hoping to recreate the experience of the 900f and I'm very happy to say, that's is exactly what's happening with the x90l..I got the 55 inch because I've learned smaller tvs are sharper, especially with 720p resolution from streaming services. I watched Jennifer galas superchannel and was very happy with the HDR. But what is really surprising me and making me happy is how sharp and colorful low resolution Philo TV looks. It's sharp and all the colors are beautiful. The reds and the whites are amazing and The upscaling is just great. This is better than my x95k by far. I'm very happy with my choice to get the 55 inch X90L..it's a great tv!! NO it's a fantastic tv!!
Its been the only TV I buy. I have a 65" E and a 75" J. Most likely will get an 85" M next year.
Just got one of these awesome X90L TV's. For anyone that is looking to install this model the feet have a 1 or a 2 marking on the feet post which corresponds to the 1 or 2 marking on the plastic on the back of the TV so you can't accidentally install them in the wrong side.
After watching this review. I’m glad I picked Sony over the TCL and Hisense
Awesome analysis Steve! I really enjoyed the info. Thanks.
You’re welcome
Tech Steve, you're killing me. Great review, but your glowing comments about the Sony X95L in these comments make me wonder whether to buy the 98" X90L or the 85" X95L (85" being the largest of the X95L's). I really want the 98" size, but does the quality of the X95L make that TV the better choice over the larger 98" X90L? Make up my mind for me, would you? Thanks! -Wishy Washy Lloyd
They are very similar, the x95L definitely has less blooming. Right now I’m testing the a7000 audio system on it and wow.
The X95L is a no brainer. It’s head & shoulders above the X90L
@@irl-hdr4080 Thanks for your input!
I went over to my local TV dealer and looked at the X95L 85" Sony, but what I found was that I couldn't really tell the difference in SIZE between that 85" TV and my current 75" TV. And my current Sony 75" TV has a great picture already, so I could really make a case in my head for only jumping up 10" diagonally, since I didn't really notice the difference in size. Obviously, the 85" X98L is the higher quality TV, but in this specific case, does size trump quality? Well, in my case, I had to admit that I personally prefer a larger TV with excellent quality to a slightly smaller TV with super excellent quality. So I bought the 98" X90L. I wanted this living area of mine to just be totally dominated by the largest screen I could afford. (The Samsung 110" and 146" were out of my price range)
On the other hand, I chose Beta over VHS back in the day, so I'm not especially well known for making the wisest decisions.
Compare samsung qn90c vs Sony x90l
I just bought this tv at Best Buy 1,199$ on Tuesday. With ps5 hooked up looks n plays great gota try the Bravia core out tho for sure
Once you sign up they give you 5 credits for movies that’s good for 12monthe
Amazing TV by Sony. Love the inputs.
Did you know broadcast plataforms tend to offer worst quality in streaming year after year? I would pick best upscaling a low bitrate smoothing chip tv (aka Sony) over flashy nits from other brands. And I mean I pick this entry level Sony over most of other brands flagships.
@TechSteve thanks for your honest and straight to the point reviews.

Awesome video Steve! Thank You.
Thanks
This is a great review review and I thank you for it because I chose this TV based on this review, but there is one thing that I disagree with you the streaming comes nowhere near to the quality or even standard 1080 P Blu-ray. To truly see what what this magnificent TV can do. 4K Blu-ray is what you need.
I have 1gbps internet so my streaming is great but sony bravia core is near blu ray quality because it uses up to 80mbps for streaming
@@TechSteve well it may be capable of that but as far as I know, no streaming service offers anything over 15m (which is what Netflix gives you on their fake 4K) still even if you could get the full 80m it’s would not come near as high as a standard Blu-ray that is 128m to 144m. Sorry to say this, but your Internet speed would not matter. I have really high Internet speed as well and it doesn’t change nothing.
@michaeldietz2648 as long as i get a good picture i’m fine, you can use your blu ray player 👍🏾
Just got the 85 inch at Costco👍.
Great job champ! Just purchased this tv.
I saw the specs in the link sony LG Samsung is the best. tcl and Hisense no I'm biased to brands that's just how it is 💯
SONY ❤️🇯🇵👑
Sony does make a darn good TV. Picture quality is by far one of the best. I did notice however, most Sony's including the X90L does have a known issue with the ARC/eARC port when hooked into a soundbar. If you have a cable box like Xfinity plugged into HDMI 1, be sure to turn off Dolby Audio, otherwise the sound will cut out every 30-45 seconds. Sony has confirmed this is a known issue and they are still working on a firmware update to fix it.
Nice video keep up the good work Tech Steve

I'm struggling between X90l and Lg c3 (are you happy with the purchase? How do you like the quality?
Steve, I am deciding between the 98" Sony X90L vs 98" TCL QM8. I will only use it for 4k blu ray HDR / Dolby Vision movies in a dark room (no sports, no gaming, no RUclips). I am a movie buff. Both are the same price. Which one would you recommend in this scenario?
qm8 would be best since if youre watching movies on bluray or any other high quality video source sonys processing becomes alot less necessary. the qm8s better dimming and better specs would shine more in this scenario
How about a side to side comparison between this and the x95L? How much better is the x95L?
Not right now the x95L is huge and hard to move around
A better comparison would be with the X93L which comes in a variety of sizes. I'd love to see this. The X95L only comes in 85" size.

How do you feel about this tv versus the Hisense U7N?
Hi Steve. I have a 75 inch sony Z9D im debating if its worth replacing it with an oled.or if i should forget about it and keep my Z9D. I absolutely love it.
I currently have the 85X90CL and stream 99.99%, but I'm considering buying a PS5 for Black Friday. I like the X90CL because of its clarity and colors, but I wouldn't mind if it was brighter, had mini-led, and more dimming zones 😁.
Is the 85X95K for $2,600 + mini-led+ more dimming zones worth considering over the 85X90CL for $2,000+ 5 year free warranty + XR Clear?

@TechSteve thoughts on the Samsung Q80C vs the Sony X90L? Is the X90L worth the higher cost and TIA.
Which Sony tv is the best x90l, x93l, or a80l? Thanks
The only thing I don’t like with this tv is the HDMI. Why did they put the 4K 120 and the eArc in one HDMI? I have two consoles Xbox, PS5 and have a home theatre system. Any advice and tips please..
I think more local dimming zones is more important than mini led, especially upto 65in TV.
The colors science is the key, Sony has it down…
mini led equates to being able to have more local dimming zones, instead of fewer larger leds, mini led tvs use more smaller leds, the X95L has mini led and more dimming zones.
Theoretically Micro LED TV's would be able to rival OLED TVs, but afaik they only come in monstrous sizes.
@Kalder. I'm pretty sure Sony used 700 zones on DLED FALD before. However, the reason they've reduced the zones is an act of under engineering aka market segmentation.
240-340 zones would dramatically reduce blooming, yet they only use a ludicrous 64-80.
But Sony will rescue you from their inferior LEDS, ie, the $5000 OLED.
@Kalder. we don't have to wait for hyper expensive micro LED, we could have excellent tvs right now simply by properly engineering existing technology.
Great Review 👌🏻
Which tv has a brighter screen? I had an older Sony Bravia led tv and pic was beautiful and bright screen. Now I have a LG Oled and pics images r to dark ,don’t like it.Tried to adjust it but still overall dark screen! Thanks!
Sony 82l or 90l which one is bette choice?
XL90 vs Neo Qled QN90c ?
Which one you prefer?
What’s a better buy this tv in 85’ for $2199, or the TCL Qm8 for $1400 currently on sale at Best Buy.
For the upscaling maybe you need to set it the way RTINGS did there's for 480p content? I also think custom, and live color brings out more colors, and detail but that's just my theory based on what i seen in Brian's Tech Therapy's video where the clearness was more visible once he did that which made the U8K look hazy compared to it. (I don't recall exactly what he selected to get it looking like that but I think that's what it was)
Hi Tech Steve once again great review, hit the like button. I have narrowed it down to two TV's 1 is the Sony Bravia 7 and two is the X80 L. First of all, Sony should rebrand this TV as the Bravia 5 and the X85K as the Bravia 4. With that being said, do you think it is worth it to pay the extra $700 and get the Bravia 7? The X90L on Amazon is 1200 and I could get that TODAY. However, I have my Sony 43" X85K I am currently using. I want to wait to collect the $700 and get the Bravia 7. THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION IS do you think the Mini LED is worth the extra $700? I want to get this TV for gaming and watching movies so I need something at least half way decent. Bravia 9 for now is out of the question because that is $3500. Would you go with this model or pay the extra $700 and get the Bravia 7, which can be yours for about $2000.
I prefer mini led, cost out of the equation
Do you recommend buying the Apple TV 4K, to use it as a base to play the content or is the TV enough? Thanks a lot for your video, you have a new follower
I prefer Apple TV but try the system you may be fine.
@@TechSteve I’m going to try, because I was happy with my Apple TV, but I made the update for this Tv and I love it the image, but it’s different the display 😅
Such a helpful video. Everytime i think Im going to eliminate the x90l, another review gives me reason not to. Im still so torn coming from a 2018 75" samsung q9fn whether i should go for the x90l at 98" or the x95k at 85" in a room with a lot of ambient light from large windows. Im afraid since my Samsung had a lot of pop even though it crushed black, that the x90l wont have that same level of color pop. Putting price aside, which one would you go for? Im leaving Samsung because I do watch a lot of RUclipstv and Sony has the best processing. The x95l isnt available here in Mexico yet and Im not sure if it will come here at all. Anyway, thanks for the video.
I absolutely love the 85X95L it’s hard to watch my other TVs because of it
I’m looking to get a 55 inch Sony A95L the first week of October assuming they’ll be in stores
How is this Sony compared to Lg qned80 and Samsung q80C/q70C?
Hai sir am confusing
Please tell me sir
Samsung qn90c 65inch or Sony x90l 65inch which is the best
Samsung has bad motion handling in their LED's search that before buying that specific model
I can see you got the play button ▶️ bro lol and congrats 🎉 bro you earned it bro 😎

@@TechSteveyou welcome 🙏 bro 😎 anytime man you deserve it!
Is bravia 7 lot better than X90L or only slightly better, mostly in terms of black levels. And I think 7 will have newer version of google tv?
Have you ever used a tv harness (straps)? Being able to keep the TV on a stand but keep it secure from falling off over having it mounted to the wall.
I haven’t but if you have animals and children it’s a great idea
