I went to a neighbouring school, and we did the same thing. How do you do it? Well, you practice for about 3-5 hours a day for about 2-3 months. You are assigned a seat, and you are given a grid. You know when you have to stand up, sit down, flash your blazer, close it up, turn around, whatever. You know exactly which second in the routine and which beat in the song you have to perform. And you know what the person to you left and right has to do, so you can stomp on their feet when they mess up. So basically, discipline.

I've been a teacher in SA for 36 years and I am so proud of our kids and our shools. In general our standards are very high and most of the kids work very hard. This is an example of the discipline in most of our schools.
We had cadets class once a week and if we didn't march or warcry correctly the grade 12's would carry it over into our break being the next period and make us run or do push ups or get physical 😂😂
We used to do that in school a lot. When we did athletics and schools competed. Each school did that. It's getting lost, because the kids of today has no discipline
I miss those days, I was in Hoërskool Garsfontein in South Africa. We tried doing those same ways of cheering but we failed XD its hard to pull off. We ended up just using our voices. The schools here have children practice and cooperate ever few days in the week about 2-3 at least once a week. Its extremely fun, there are taboo songs as well nothing really bad its just songs that piss of other schools. Or trolling the leaders of it, they always direct the next song or the current ones for us to cheer or get ready. Over here its a pleasure and fun to support the sports teams by doing this. We even take buses to athletic events during weeks to support them or weekends most students will attend to cheer on with their uniforms because its all about UNITY and love for the school.
That’s remarkable I wish we had a spirit bus to take our schools around to all the comps! It looks like ya’ll have this school spirit thing figured out! I respect it!

*English. And who is ‘they’? No need to be such an arrogant arse about it. You did after all lose to Japan and Italy just a couple years ago after all.
@@calumcaldwell1884 the only arse here is you mate. You're unhappy and sour. Dont comment if all you're going to do is get sour about ... by the way 32-12
I don't think his being arrogant... Just watch brittish media on The eve of the rwc final... RUclips full of clips... My face is Ugo Monye (sp) one is very funny in retrospect...not to mention the Matt Dawson interview before final as well just to mention a few... This does not mean it represents all Englishmen as a whole but the media were practically giving the Boks no chance even tough the last tests between the nations were pretty even....james haskell I think had a very fair view on who he thought might win... Top bloke... He at least gave a realistic view on how tough the task would be.
@Calum Caldwell The *English* as you put it, spent all their energy in the semis against the All Blacks and hit the wall SO HARD in the finals, hahah. And "they", the media, painted the Springboks as the underdogs - when we are actually a nation of champions. Btw, yes our slippery slope downwards started with the Japan loss, and it got worse with a loss against Italy of all people and 57-0 defeat against the All Blacks. So we had to change leadership drastically to resurrect the Boks. Japan was an eye opener for the entire world, when they reached 4th place! AND all thanks to the Springboks. Next decade you will see the rise of Italy. A little bit of confidence goes a long way!!

We had cadets class once a week and if we didn't march or warcry correctly the grade 12's would carry it over into our break being the next period and make us run or do push ups or get physical 😂😂
I was actually apart of this performance. #thisisnotaboysschool
Whoa shout out to you for doing this! That’s littt
You should check ou "Nico Malan High School flashes" it is even better than this
Really? Okay I will look it up thanks! These performances are wild!
I live 15km away from this school, and never knew about this. I have heard that this is one of the best schools around.
I just recently found this myself as well! From what I hear you’re right, this is one of the best
We used to do that in school a lot. When we did athletics and schools competed. Each school did that. It's getting lost, because the kids of today has no discipline
It is not rugby. Its a athletics meeting. That was one of 4 schools, you must see the others.
Then in the hood, the school spirit feel like a turn up😂😂😂 too lit
Just made u 2 k subs

Thank you! I really appreciate your support! Go South Africa!
This reminds me of inter-high or the school trying to hype up our rugby eerste span.
How I miss these days I'm south African and I play many games for my School and Club and this is one of the most memorable things about school boy rugby
Ah, man! This made my day! Nah, it made my WEEK. D.F Malan Hoër Skool. That's Afrikaans for High School. Man, sporting events between schools back in my youth were SPECTACULAR. This is such an awesome reminder. Thank you for this, whoever recommended it.
You’re right this is absolutely spectacular!
How do you train them to do this when none of them can see the picture that's being created? Are these children or robots?
Cyborgs and drones I heard...
I whent to a school called Grey College you should do a rugby review on us

Its MTBS...stands for the 4 schools, High school Stellenberg, DF malan, Bellville and Tygerberg...im at high school Stellenberg now and its the best school ever. But covid is here so maybe wont be able to do it next year😢
This is too epic to let covid stop it lol
The coolest thing I've seen on RUclips 🙂😉
Thanks 💯!
most of these arent even designated cheer sections, the entire school or sometimes just 1 specific year/grade will learn these for games
Really? Wow I thought it was like how in America we have cheerleaders that it’s their job to do this I had no idea it was just so much school spirit from classmates that’s truly Amazing
We are, we are, a RUGBY nation. And people thought we were the underdogs in the 2019 world cup, as they favoured the British LOL.
*English. And who is ‘they’?
A little bit of confidence goes a long way!!
war cry
IT IS NOT CHEERING FOR RUGBY! It is part of an athletics event and the performance is called “Flashes”. It is the biggest athletics event in the Western Cape. Four high schools are apart of it. D. F Malan High School( the school in the video and my High School), Stellenberg High School, Bellville High School and Tygerberg High School. In the morning we do the Flashes and in the afternoon we start the athletics. If you want to see more videos like this search “Hoërskool DF Malan Flashes 2020”. ;)
This South Africa? Lmao I’ve never seen this
Ray Legend ! lol Yes I believe so!
Its its DF Malan High school in Bellville preforming their opening ceremony at the MTBS athletic tournament
