What's Up ya'll Thanks SO much for watching!
Today on Kurty Flo Live! we become witness to perhaps the most moving Haka performance that I have ever seen thus far on Kurty Flo Live! A New Zealand Army performance of the Haka to honor their fellow fallen comrades who lost their lives fighting for the country of New Zealand and sacrificing all they had for their family and friends. It is with a heavy heart that I say thank you for your service and may all of our fallen soldiers rest in peace.
Thanks For Watching.
“Imma stand for this one”
Nice one dude. We're truely humbled and honored by your respect for our culture. Tu meke e hoa.
Much loved by we Brits too
All solders deserve this typt of respect. Beautifull.

Wow I remember seeing this on our news and I cried then and seeing it again I cried again. They are our Kiwi hero's
Rommel wrote: 'Give me 4 divisions of New Zealanders and I can win the entire war', also: 'If I was ordered to take hell itself, I would use a division of Australians to take it and a division of New Zealanders to keep it for all eternity'.
Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery wrote: Where ever the line is most critical in offense or defense is where I put the New Zealanders.
The reason is simple; they tell us there is cold beer and a BBQ over the other side of that trench.
Thank you for sharing this, I served from 85 to 94 and went to many a sheet hole around our planet in my time and served alongside many nations armed forces but one thing I remember very clearly was the brotherhood between us all, we may have come from different countries, wore different uniforms but we were one and the same underneath, bless you brother...just subbed!
The silence at the end is what gets you,,where those saying good-bye have a moment to remember,, Silence is Power,,
Amen! i completely agree!
Thank you sir for your respect from new zealand
💯 I appreciate that very much, thank you!
This dudes the man very respectful to my culture
Honoring and remembering, moves even the toughened to weep. Never forget.

Made me cry. So beautiful
As American Veteran, my love for all my military allies, brothers and sisters we are on earth as we move on to our next fight, is worldwide, may you now find PEACE, and may your family understand, they are surrounded in love by the biggest family that we are, for we are military, more importantly, we are always family!

I WISH I WAS KIWI
Aaaah tena koe bro
💯
I wish that the next time you see a haka its at the Bledisloe cup, a rugby union match or at a wedding/celebration
Not someone who's fallen in combat.
I don't think you understand what it means for you to start your video with "tena koutou katoa". you give more effort in our culture than the english people that LIVE in New Zealand.
ahh wow i didnt realize that but I love New Zealand and have nothing but respect and love for the amazing people and culture!
@@KurtyFloLive it probably wasn’t accurate to generalise, a lot of English people try to include te reo Maori in their everyday life. Nonetheless we all appreciate those who respect and are interested in our culture ❤️

Much respect to you too 28th Maori Battalion............... Big Jim (Ngati whatua) x

As an Aussie I am with you on this . We cherish our kiwi brothers and sisters!. We live and fight together as one!. The Haka is the greatest show of power, tradition, honor and respect. It invokes the deepest emotions in anyone lucky to witness the haka.

Type in "Australia invades New Zealand".
The beautiful thing about Haka, is that it enables a man to express emotion with caring, love and respect... while being really staunch!
So well said ma'am. Whakawhetai koe thank you
Thanks bro for doing that. So back story to this is our three warriors:
“At approximately 9:20 p.m. local time, a Humvee taking a patrol member to see a doctor at Romero base in Bamiyan province was destroyed by an improvised explosive device.
Three New Zealand soldiers were killed instantly: Corporal Luke Tamatea (31) of Kawerau, medic Lance Corporal Jacinda Baker (26) of Christchurch, and Private Richard Harris (21) of Pukekohe, who was driving the Humvee.
Baker, a recipient of the Chief of Army Commendation, was the first New Zealand servicewoman killed as a result of enemy action since 10 nurses drowned when the transport Marquette was torpedoed in 1915 (see 23 October).”
Wow that’s so sad! Thank you for your knowledge on this, may they all Rest In Peace.
Also only weeks before these soldiers were killed, another 2 kiwi soldiers were killed In a firefight against the taliban
@@KurtyFloLive their patrol commander wrote a book bravo kiwi.. the emotions they expressed in private were a lot stronger anger in not allowed to get their revenge
@@emmeriankiwi6993 my dads best friends boy Pralli was killed in the attack prior. We were invited out to the army base for his funeral as well as the other soldiers. The salute and haka they got was so moving. The hospitality and way they cared for the family and us will never be forgotten 💜
@@manda7047 I just so happened to be at the Airport when they were brought home, at the time I thought they were american since I didn't have any idea NZ was in Afghanistan, that's when reality hit me as I soon found out I had family members active in the service
The blend of Maori and Pakeha (white/European) soldiers, together for their fallen brother...........a great model for a great world maybe. Maori, Pakeha, Indigenous and non-indigenous Australians, African Americans, First Nation everywhere. Fuck religion and political divide, one race, the human race. From an Australian veteran ❤️
Well put! “One Race, The human race.” -I like that
@@KurtyFloLive it really should be that easy I think, you see the love towards one man here who has the honour and courage to serve and receives the highest respect from one of the oldest cultures in the world. Amen, we all put pants on the same way
Man, I remember seeing this on the news it hit me in the feels... ... and being Ex Royal New Zealand Navy it still hits me in the feels even to this day when I see it... Stupid dust in the air... yeah I saw your welling up as well... ;-)
Thanks for showing respect to our culture... Kia Kaha
i to ex RNZN respect
I was only in for a couple of years, but I found the NZ Army a fascinating mix of Maori, colonial and British culture and traditions, with Maori predominating, in my opinion. In addition, there are a significant number of folks from other Polynesian peoples in the NZDF.
The culture also seems to get past, to some degree, the Tongan vs Samoan issues, as well as Mongrel Mob vs Black Power issues. Which is a pretty big fricken deal.
10 years ago, a fallen New Zealand soldier was found in Flanders Fields and was reburied at Messines Rigde Cemetary. There was also a Haka performed for this unknown soldier, even after more than 100 years. It sent chills down my spine . Real warriors, these Kiwi;s! We will never forget them!
wow thats some powerful stuff I have never heard that story, thanks for sharing i will go read the legend. is there a video of that haka anywhere?

I live not far from the WWI Belgian and French battlefields, so i visit these sites quite often. always impressive to see what happened here, the bloodshed and the sacrifice that has been made by so many. That is why we will honor these men until the end of times, because they deserve it!. Lest we forget! Messines Ridge is a very beautiful cemetary btw. There are still the craters around the ridge, and there is also still a bunker there. History still lives here, even after more than one century. Everything is maintained and preserved very well. Families of fallen, still come and visit their loved ones that are buried here.
@@lex1945 your right history does still live there after all this time. sounds like a beautiful place hopefully one day i get a chance to visit and see it for myself
Our family friends boy was killed in the prior attack. We were invited along to the funeral and the army moved his body from town all the way out to the base with us following. The haka and the salute they done was so moving and breathtaking. The hospitality and support they gave to the family and all us who attended was outstanding and will never be forgotten. Everyone at the base was super respectful
That fallen comrade lived as a warrior and left as a warrior.
Lived an honorable life full of purpose with a cause greater than themselves.
Shout out to New Zealand.
A very valuable and treasured ally of the U.S and one of many defenders in the fight to preserve freedom, justice and democracy.
This former U.S Navy sailor values you.

This is how we grieve for our people.
Putting heaven on notice... A warrior is about to arrive
Thanks for standing and for your respect for both the haka and the fallen, my friend.
Something you may already know, but the NZ Army is called Ngati Tumatauena in the Maori language. It means ‘Tribe of the God of War’. It is a multicultural force, European kiwis, Maori, Pasifika, Asian, but it is United around the strong identity and culture of our First People, the Maori. Hence the haka.
Taumatauenga *
The pouring out of grief and respect followed by a moment of quiet reflection….. utterly powerful and fitting
Your reactions to the haka videos are so genuine and your te reo pronunciation is very good. I think we'll have to make you an honourary Kiwi!
Ahh thanks I’m honored just to be able to watch the haka in all it’s glory! That would be so amazing to be accepted as Kiwi!
Ae, I agree. Tino Pai e hoa
Even though we give the ozis so much shit with sport we will always be the first there by their sides when shit hits the fan much love our ozi brothers and sisters💙 #TeamAnzacs
There are many countries with an Indigenous culture, but I think New Zealand is the only Colonised country where there is an aspect of the Indigenous culture that has become a National symbol, that is, the Haka. Certainly not in Australia, definitely not the US, Canada, Britain and most of colonised Africa.
I just felt that all up in through my soul and I know that whomever passes on heard them walking up to him at his last moment much love
No wonder the Germans took off in Crete when they heard the NZers do the Hama. It would scare the shit out of you.
This is so amazing. It’s so sad thank you for sharing this!
I'm told the New Zealand Defense Force is small compared to other countries with each death a deep wound to their comrades it's eazy to see the grief on the faces of their mates. But what a Haka I believe its their friend saying to heaven "We are sending you one of our own welcome them with open arm's"
Well said! They may be a small force by numbers but in warrior ethos and comradery they are many! This is truly a send off to heaven that their soldiers deserve.
Timberwolf you hit the nail on the head haka at funeral is to let our ancestors know that a warrior is on the way
Respect, Honnor, Loylity, Dedication and love for our fallen brothers and sister.
Rest in peace.
The white Australians, South Africans Zambians, Zimbabwean, Kenyans and American and Canadian people would probably be embarrassed to perform a local African or Native American war dance but the white New Zealand people have totally taken the Haka and other elements of Maori culture to their hearts and the Haka is seen at funerals, weddings, sports event, celebrations etc with no embarrassment or feeling of being stupid or silly and the facial hair and movements in the white New Zealanders are the same as the Majority people.
It shows how much respect the Maori culture has.
You sure about that? I know a lot of white Africans that are more local than quite a few of the blacks
@@MrFlashmaniquin A white person claiming white Africans are more local than Africans? The view from your tower of white privilege must be fucking amazing.

Hi KurtyFlo, Just a little background on New Zealand - NZ is part of the 52 British Commonwealth of Nations, and one half of the New Zealand/Australian ANZAC fighting history,, and now our shared April 25th National day of respect, mourning, and appreciation for our shared heritage in WW1 and WW2 and others. In WW1 New Zealand lost more military deaths per head of population than any other country involved in either the Allies or the other side. In the national museum Te Papa, in Wellington, there is an extraordinary exhibition called 'Gallipoli: The Scale of Our War' telling the story of NZ in WW1. In 2019 it was opened and was acknowledged internationally as a groundbreaking exhibition and the No 1 museum exhibition worldwide. It was created by Sir Peter Jackson, the Director of the 'Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit' movie trilogies, and has extraordinary larger than lifesize models created by Weta Workshop. You can see an overview of the making on RUclips - Gallipoli: The Scale of Our War at Te Papa, and other videos such as -The Making of 'Gallipoli - the Scale of Our War (2015).
Thank you for showing this very moving Haka. Thank you for your respect.

Served alongside a Kiwi infantry unit a lifetime ago. Truly great blokes. I believe this lad they are celebrating here was one of their snipers. Fucking fearsome soldiers, great drinking mates. The uncle I was named for went to NZ in the 50's with his family from Cumbria. He ended up as the mayor of Wanganui. My dad (his brother) decided not to go at the last minute and he rejoined the British army instead. I followed in his footsteps. Never saw my uncle again or my cousins again. One of the great what ifs of my tenure on this planet.
I watched the first one which lead me here. To the uploader if you every wish to make contact message me. I was not Infantry I waa Artillery. BUT I was a Mortarman in a Hybrid Battery of Infantry and Artillery.... Luke Tamatea was a fine man... We still feel his loss to this day. Onward for Infantry Brothers and Ubique for the Gunner Brothers respectively...

Three soldiers - one a young girl, one sniper and one other. Respect is due.
Kurty as a NZ woman, watching you pay respect to the haka and be curious. You stand and understand the spiritual journey within oneself to do the haka.
To see men and woman in spiritual deep pain with pride proudly displaying the haka and feeling it is another level.
You respect the meaning.
You will be welcome to NZ and they will secure your journey to learn.
Deep and fulfilling journey with similar haka from our Polynesian family. Your indigenous/American Indian have similar “haka”.
Your learning journey, the spirits will guide you.
Stay humble. Stand and receive.

Our ANZACs should not still be dying......
Thanks for sharing this! Big ups too for the soldier who knelt beside the hearse 😁💚☮
So powerful and respectful, I'm not crying you are.
The NZ armed forces like many NZ organisations adopt the Māori culture of assigning a sacred God figure to guide and protect them. In the case of the NZ armed forces the God is "Tumatauenga" - the God of war! It is to him that they intern the spirit of the fallen soldier for safe passage and return to the homelands..
A good haha to watch is the DR DRE BEATS haka for Richie macaw
I believe that one is on the list as well! Coming soon
I was in the ARMY for almost 10 years.....
I'm crying like a little girl......
Thank you ........
I named my Son Tumatauenga Terehutana, Tumatauenga - Maori God of fighting and war, Ngati Tu meaning War People, Terehutana- Volcano. So my son will allways battle hard

Ima stand for this one. Got an immediate sub. Also for anyone who is part of this culture i have a question. Why does seeing a Haka get me so emotional? Something about it gets the feels. idk. Hard to explain.
Love, respect, honnor, family and loss, is what this haka is all about. That's why it's so powerful.
Hope this helps you understand the feels you get. Hakas can also be empowering like for going into battle and connecting to your ancestors.
It can also be used as a part of a union of two families (marriage) 👍😁
