What's Up ya'll Thanks SO much for watching!
Today on Kurty Flo Live! we become witness to perhaps the most moving Haka performance that I have ever seen thus far on Kurty Flo Live! A New Zealand Army performance of the Haka to honor their fellow fallen comrades who lost their lives fighting for the country of New Zealand and sacrificing all they had for their family and friends. It is with a heavy heart that I say thank you for your service and may all of our fallen soldiers rest in peace.
    Thanks For Watching.

“At approximately 9:20 p.m. local time, a Humvee taking a patrol member to see a doctor at Romero base in Bamiyan province was destroyed by an improvised explosive device.
Three New Zealand soldiers were killed instantly: Corporal Luke Tamatea (31) of Kawerau, medic Lance Corporal Jacinda Baker (26) of Christchurch, and Private Richard Harris (21) of Pukekohe, who was driving the Humvee.
Baker, a recipient of the Chief of Army Commendation, was the first New Zealand servicewoman killed as a result of enemy action since 10 nurses drowned when the transport Marquette was torpedoed in 1915 (see 23 October).”

I was only in for a couple of years, but I found the NZ Army a fascinating mix of Maori, colonial and British culture and traditions, with Maori predominating, in my opinion. In addition, there are a significant number of folks from other Polynesian peoples in the NZDF.
The culture also seems to get past, to some degree, the Tongan vs Samoan issues, as well as Mongrel Mob vs Black Power issues. Which is a pretty big fricken deal.

The white Australians, South Africans Zambians, Zimbabwean, Kenyans and American and Canadian people would probably be embarrassed to perform a local African or Native American war dance but the white New Zealand people have totally taken the Haka and other elements of Maori culture to their hearts and the Haka is seen at funerals, weddings, sports event, celebrations etc with no embarrassment or feeling of being stupid or silly and the facial hair and movements in the white New Zealanders are the same as the Majority people.

Hi KurtyFlo, Just a little background on New Zealand - NZ is part of the 52 British Commonwealth of Nations, and one half of the New Zealand/Australian ANZAC fighting history,, and now our shared April 25th National day of respect, mourning, and appreciation for our shared heritage in WW1 and WW2 and others. In WW1 New Zealand lost more military deaths per head of population than any other country involved in either the Allies or the other side. In the national museum Te Papa, in Wellington, there is an extraordinary exhibition called 'Gallipoli: The Scale of Our War' telling the story of NZ in WW1. In 2019 it was opened and was acknowledged internationally as a groundbreaking exhibition and the No 1 museum exhibition worldwide. It was created by Sir Peter Jackson, the Director of the 'Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit' movie trilogies, and has extraordinary larger than lifesize models created by Weta Workshop. You can see an overview of the making on RUclips - Gallipoli: The Scale of Our War at Te Papa, and other videos such as -The Making of 'Gallipoli - the Scale of Our War (2015).

Kurty as a NZ woman, watching you pay respect to the haka and be curious. You stand and understand the spiritual journey within oneself to do the haka.
To see men and woman in spiritual deep pain with pride proudly displaying the haka and feeling it is another level.
    You respect the meaning.
You will be welcome to NZ and they will secure your journey to learn.
Deep and fulfilling journey with similar haka from our Polynesian family. Your indigenous/American Indian have similar “haka”.
Your learning journey, the spirits will guide you.
    Stay humble. Stand and receive.

The NZ armed forces like many NZ organisations adopt the Māori culture of assigning a sacred God figure to guide and protect them. In the case of the NZ armed forces the God is "Tumatauenga" - the God of war! It is to him that they intern the spirit of the fallen soldier for safe passage and return to the homelands..
