I have this one. It has survived many collection purges over the years. I put mine on a tropic strap. It's a classic and the dial is incredible. There seems to be a renaissance of sorts on the classic black but this is the one I have and I'm sticking with it. The real heir to the throne of the SKX, not the watered-down Seiko 5 versions. Great review.
Absolutely worth it to me. Easily the best looking Turtle produced to date, inclusive of some even pricier limited editions. I've owned and parted with a few run of the mill Turtles, but I expect I'd hang on to this one.
I love mine and that blue dial reminds me of the color of the SBEC003. I wear my watches and try to be careful but if it gets a scrap or nick, it adds character. This is my every day..
The SRCP91 is really nice but with a strapcode Rollball it's just stunning stunning stunning beautiful. My best watch ever.

Got it 2 months ago and the silicone strap gave me some kind of eczema rash on the wrist - same on the other hand when I swapped :(

The silicone strap is like a magnet for dust. It gets dirty very quickly.
Got mine 2 days ago absolutlely love it eben if the bezel is off a smidge. at least there is a little wiggle room to get it line up well 😁. over all i love it. thw strap really is nice but it wears hot and sweaty. great review great energy!

Just bought one at Kohl's for my son's 21 birthday , $290. I have an original 1975 Captain Willard I got for my HS graduation. Seiko pound for pound really has no equal in their price range.

Just got it back from its first service, found a reproduction waffle strap. I have the original receipt from E.B Horn on Washington St in Boston. My grandmother paid $89.99 for it in 1975. I broke the original strap within a year and bought a stainless strap that kept popping open. I was afraid I would lose the watch so I put it in a drawer around 1977. I just took it out about a year ago.
It's a lovely watch. I just put it on my to buy list. I think the save the ocean series is great and this would also be my pick of the line. The Samurai I will be getting in a Pepsi edition and on the silicone strap. Btw. I would also keep this one on the silicone strap.
Maverick. IP finish is an issue on the bezel and crown, but isn't the bezel non-ceramic, the keepers are only steel (rather than silicone) and the crystal is hardlex, so you could argue it is not a beater diver watch like the SKX, but a great dressy diver watch?

I tried this watch on today in a nice watch shop.i wanted to buy it love the case and face,felt great on my wrist. But I have a couple of reservations. When I pulled the crown out and wound it it felt like a cheap Chinese movement, you know that never ending feeling when you think you could keep winding for ever.also I thought it could have felt a little heavier in my opinion for the price.i was disappointed that it only comes with one strap.come on 400 UK pounds.560 dollars! I'm having second thoughts, in fact the next time I go into that shop I'll ask the salesman to place every watch they have up to the sum of 400 pounds infront of me and I'll try every one of them.
purchased this watch from first class watches (james moore ) in uk at £318 . ive had watch 2 weeks now with no problems. seems to run bit fast . lume better than my rolex sd 43 red 50 anniv. overall a good beater watch !

Great looking watch. Not too sure about the ip coated bezel and crown. I do like the SRPC25 which has a great looking dial and Batman bezel as well without the ip coating. The New Seiko straps are fantastic and fit better than the old oem rubber straps.

Why can't Seiko make the SKX007 with the Ocean Blue? Now that would be cool.
Sadly the SKX has been officially discontinued. There has been some leaked images of a possible replacement line but nothing has been confirmed.

Otherwise the second hand is not in balance. And yes, in the dark it's disturbing. You always 30 sec. late or too early.

I was checking out this watch on Amazon and I see that there are different serial numbers but the watches look alike.
I see serial #SRPC91 for $345, #SRPC91J1 for $434 and on Seiko's website I see it with serial #SRPC91K1.
Any difference? I also see that there is a "turtle" version.

The SRPC91J1 is made in Japan, the SRPC91K1 is made in Malaysia. Both watches are equally good.
They say the watches in Japan are better in detail. Better finished. [ that's wath they say].

The dial is outstanding. I was ready to buy it, but when I saw that bs IP coating on the most prone to abuse elements, I was put off. That ruined otherwise outstanding tool watch. With the IP coating it better be kept in closed case or it will look bad really quick.
You do realize that new models are always closer to MSRP but then quickly drop right? These are now selling at the same price as the regular versions.
Of course I realize that but I wanted to reiterate to people to maybe stay away from this one for a while and the fact that it's crown isn't the best compared to other Seiko releases.

A friend of mine bought this watch......my words to him were verbatim as yours: It's a great looking watch, but that's a hefty premium to pay for a few minor tweeks to the appearance compared to a standard turtle. In general Seiko prices have gotten crazy over the last few years, but I guess people are willing to pay them. Not me! $400-500.00 for a watch with no bracelet, no sapphire, low-beat movement, and a stainless bezel....no thanks!

Ok, my thoughts are Samurai is the better looking one. It just looks better.
The turtle shaped case and the round dot markers are just old and played out. Time for something new, like the Samurai.

I like the Samurai, but the turtle is a true classic, it never goes out of style. I think the ocean dial is best on the turtle. Don’t know about the coating on the bezel and crown though.
Another Seiko special edition nice watch but this is getting stupid Seiko are getting lazy and just changing color combinations. Seiko let’s have some proper new watches please.

I don't understand your point at all. Is this an "improper" watch? Is offering a variety of colour combinations in a given model somehow a bad thing? Would you prefer that they all be black and white? Have you missed the new model introductions at Basel each year?
