Thank you to all the guys at lab rats for trusting us at Drews Tire pros with doing the tires. I myself the young man that assisted with a couple of the tires. What a gem of a car, I couldn't believe how beautiful the interior is. Thanks again from all of us at drews, this was a treat.
Btw , you can always tell a good shop by the customers bathroom, you guys absolutely nailed it!!!
Thank you for helping fab rats
how much?????????????????????????????
Another set up video.... I hate this stuff. Thumbs down... that cars been running for a long time..

I love that Paul was a construction guy with a good heart that liked to off road and derby, and then he stumbled into living my real life dream. God, I love this channel so much! 🤘🤘
Yeah he was a fiber optics guy owned his own business and all that's why he's good at bossing Hunter around 😂
Meee Tooo!
Hunter definitely needs a boss 😂
We love you right back!! Thanks for the kind words and for loving our channel!
@@paulrivers7248❤ I really like watching you guys
Freakin Awsom
I'm 80 yrs old and grew up in these cars. You know it cost under $2,000 new. I remember. I was a factory trained line mechanic for the Dealerships for GMC and Mopar. In the 60s. Great days in my life. That cable needs greased. Amazing it survived.
Love the channel. Love this car. I vote for full restoration with Robby doing the paint. Please don't rat rod it!
I think the stock engine in a 1955 was a 265 cubic inch. Great find!
That is correct. 283 inch did not get out till 57. 57 was also the first year any car was first made with 283 ci and 283 HP with Chevy's Fuel injection.
It was not all that bad but there was next to no info on it.
@@thomaswaddell9012check valve cover bolts they are wider. Top to bottom of 265
Or 283.
Correct
Spaghetti bowl sucks!
Nice find! Please don't go crazy on mods. Keep it classic.
55 56 and 57. Check out the hood ornament. I miss those days.😅
Since the previous owner said that the original colors of the car were cream and green, ya gotta let Robby Layton put it back like it was. That would really draw attention to your daily driver.😍
Robby...Robby..Robby....
Def!!
YES!!! .. I hope this happens and Robby plays ALL the sanding in real time on the video! :)
No signage please unless a magnet one...!
Wow Paul what a score. That rust free 55 deserves a full on resto or resto-mod, its got all the original bones.
And to guys to choose from. Robby Layton or Howlin Wolf and he has a love for old cars.
forget that...spending a fortune on a car ain't cool any longer..."Don't get it perfect...get it running"...A nice budget "Patina build" is where this should go.
@@lt.columbo5919I would agree if the 55 had rusted holes and license plates for a trunk and floor pan.
Spending a fortune on something that isn't cool... isn't cool. IMO turning a mint rust free 55 into a patina car is far from cool.
A one owner 55 would fetch a heck of a lot of money at auction, they are up there with the 57's, and still one of the most sought after hot rods in America. There are a lot of people out there right now who would offer Paul a lot of money for the car as it sits.
Every panel can be easily repaired and the bright work is complete and almost perfect.
It would not take a lot of money to paint and detail this car. This 55 is a solid investment
Great video!
@@lt.columbo5919 Screw that; THAT'S what every swingin d_ck does now. And this car has no “patina”. Actually sick of the rust bucket brigade. We know it's old without making it look as old as possible.
Being deployed your videos make it so much easier! Love your videos Paul

You guys Crack me up ! I couldn't stop laughing because what you're doing reminds me of my younger years and I'm 68 now ! Thank you for the adventure and laughs !
Back in the day!! YES! :) I'm over 60 as well ... I bought a 1994 Chevy Step Van earlier this year, I had a deal to leave the plates and insurance valid to move it home (Hour and a Half drive) ..
But the girl selling it got change her mind at the last minute after we got there (That's her right can't really blame, it's a grey area of law here)
My friend was lost "What will we do?? she said" ... I told her we are doing this OLD SCHOOL! .. and just got in and drove it home no plates at all! :)
Bit risky but ... we used to do it all the time Back in the Day! :)
Haha I'm 65 an had all the same thoughts ! Good Memories! Happy New Year!
Love this episode of the Fab Rats chasing the dream. Ben makes for a great addition to the entertainment. I literally laughed my ass off when he crawled under the dash to fix the speedo. Freaking great to see how you guys all interact with each other. Love that sweet 55 as well.
Hey guys, if this is a '55 stock V8, it's probably a 265 cu. in. The 283 came out later. But a rust free Tri-Five is truly a rare find, whatever's under the hood. I had a '56 two door 210 sedan with the 235 straight six and three-on-the-tree. Drove it forever! I love watching all the neat things you do!
You are absolutely correct! The ‘55 and ‘56 were 265 V8s. The 283 V8 was introduced in the ‘57 model.
@@ImGdiddy with front motor mounts 273 had side mounts but were drilled for front as well
I've had five '55's starting with a cherry Bel Air out of High School. Four more 210 series out of the Navy. One with a Jim Hall hypo 327 Chaparral from GM still in the crate, back-up long block for Jim Hall's race cars. He went big block, so GM sold off all the 327 back ups to various parts stores and I got one for $300. It was built to Jim Hall's specs, and it was a monster! I got pulled over by an OR state policeman, who was a gear head, just to see what kind of big block I was running in it. The waitresses on roller skates at the A&W had to hold on to the milk shake glasses when I drove around the restaurant in Richland, WA...lol!
You are right it would have been 265 if it's original. 283 was in the 57
My older brother had a 55 Chevy that he worshipped and took immaculate care of. You bought back many good memories by your excitement and appreciation of the ride.
I Bought a 56 Chevy 4 door Chevy in Birmingham AL in around 63 had to rent a tow bar to pull it home. It was advertised for 79 dollars, it did not run! My younger Brother was with me, We needed to build an engine, put a new clutch and pressure plate in it , rebuild the 3 speed trans and replace all the tires. , I drove it thru the 70s. I lent to a young lady to drive home, she lived out in the country, she hit a cow on the way and damaged the right front finder. I went to a wrecking yard to find a finder, the man wanted a hundred and fifty dollars for a beat up finder. I gave my 56 Chevy To my older brother, who had once had a 56 convertible Chevy, which he lent me to take my drivers license test years earlier. I miss the Chevy. I would love to find a nice 55 like Paul of Fad Rats!....Kunt Hamson
Paul , hands down this was an epic road trip for the FabRats family 💛💛💛
We need more Ben. This episode was so much fun to watch.
Totally agree😀!
Where is BEN anyway
Ben is a good addition, but I did get my hopes up for a second that it was the more vertically challenged Ben.

No Mountain Dew Thief Ben. 😂😂😂
You are crazy lucky to find that car. I bought my 55 two door in 1968 for $60. You brought back lots of great memories on that drive.
What a fun show! Poor Michelle has Paul and Ben to deal with. The old cast iron Powerglide! Still doing its job. Impressive. 13/16 deep socket on the old plugs. 5/8 on the peanut plugs. I smiled a ton on this adventure! I did stuff like that. Thanks for the smile on my face!
34:56 Editor deserves an Award for this cut-scene.
Digging the marketing strategy of finding old stuff, taking a road trip to get it and demonstrating the utility of the Fab Rat's "travel tool roll." Love seeing Paul and company so excited!
Ah was that "theFabRats" "travel tool roll" ??? 😜Wow, very useful indeed.
What a great video. It brought back a flood of priceless memories. I bought my first used car at age 15. It was a 1951 chevy, with a powerglide transmission and straight 6 engine. (The 1950 and 1951 are identical body style). My best friend had a 1955 chevy Belaire, 2 door hard top, red with white paint, red interior, 265 V8, upgraded with 4 barrel carb and a 3 speed standard transmission. He replaced the ring and pinion gear with a 370 gear ratio so he could drag race on the city streets. The 3 on the column shifter was converted to a 3 on the floor shifter using a Hurst conversion kit. In 1964 we both traded up and bought 1962 Chevy's. His was 2 door hardtop Impala, 4 on the floor standard transmission, turquoise color. Mine was a 1962 chevy Impala black with red interior, convertible with a white top. I replaced the 4 barrel carb with 3 deuces, installed a 3/4 lift Duntov camshaft, welded in exhaust cutouts using 2" galvanized pipe with galvanized caps that we took off and on with channel lock pliers, and installed 370 gears (456 gears were too low range for a daily driver). I graduated high school in 1965. Thank you for helping a guy age 76 relive his high school glory days of street racing with his best friend. Your channel is awesome.
Awesome video! It takes me back to the early seventies when my friends and I were doing this on a regular basis, of course then cars like this cost $20.-$50. My first decent car was a '56 two door I paid $35. and drove home without having to fix anything. You really lucked out with this one! If that is the original engine, it is a 265 as the 283 didn,t come out until 1957.
265 is the number .
their a bit more money now
I remember those days
was thinking 265 when they opened the hood.
If it's the original engine, it will have a canister oil filter, instead of a spin on. It can be modified to a spin on easily.
55's did not have a oil filter ,they used a canister filter if they had one. Same as the 6 cylinder engines if so equiped.
A few car movies were historic for the 55 chevy and 57 chevy. This will be very interesting how this car evolves.
The field method for setting V- eight points is turn the Allen screw clockwise until it misfires, then 1/2 turn counterclockwise and that leaves you in a good ballpark area. PS I worked at a car lot for many years. What a jewel!
BTW: That old cast-iron PowerGlide has a rear pump, which means the car can be push-started. And the shift quadrant - with L next to R on the bottom - is perfect for rocking the car back and forth when stuck in snow.
That is just absolutely amazing.. imagine finding a car that is in such good condition at that age.. I am just completely blown away..🤯
Just to let you and the whole group know, you bring joy into my life, love the different shows, thanks from a old man, keep up the good work.
I echo that! Thanks from a very old (81) lady. 🇨🇦

Great grab Man!
Do you know how many people wish they could find a car that old and that rust free? It's basically unheard of.
Awesome video!
no it's not, you just have to look. the midwest is riddled with good barn finds. estate auctions are a great resource!
@@tylermallory2504
Oh, so that's the problem? Son of a gun! We just weren't looking in the right place, evidently? Wow! If we only knew that! Darn!
"The Midwest is "riddled" with good barn finds."
Like this? With absolutely zero rust, at all, in any way, shape, or form, what so ever, on a 1955 Chevy? Really?
Sorry, I don't think so!
Did you see when they showed the underside of this car when they had it up on the lift getting the tires replaced? Are you blind? There was zero rust! Nothing! Zero. Zippo. Zilch, Nada!
With all of the salt on the road in the Midwest? Really? I seriously doubt it Dude!
Sure, you might have one here, one there. Maybe. I doubt it though.
Perhaps you have some evidence of some of all of these pristine barn finds of yours?
I'm sure you have mega pictures of all of these, so called, barn finds with absolutely zero rust, the same as this '55 Chevy! Just one right after the other! Evidently, we just have to know where to look.
I bet If you Showed people where to find these, "Barn finds" of yours, would make substantial money.
Look, even in even in Commiefornia, these cars get rusted out!
This particular one, is an absolute diamond in the rough, no matter where it's from. You almost never see them like this! I'm not kidding.
Paul totally scored! So proud of him and the guys!
I can't wait for the future content! It is going to be epic!
Absolutely SUPERB! That old Chevy is the same vintage as me, as I was born in1955 too! Can't wait to see what you've got in store for her.
As always, thanks much for sharing.

1955 ? Me too !!
Same here!
Add me to the list also.
Me too!!
Man all you car/truck enthusiast youtubers really have put the fire back under me to continue enjoying everything automotive. I lost it there for a while as it was all just work and makin a livin but somehow after watching you and Matt and cleetus and kevin smith I am starting to enjoy myself again. Better go blow the dust off the 62 fairlane and get it road worthy again.
Good to hear your enthusiasm is back for your passion
Do it while you still can.
That would be an amazing car to restore with the original colours and a fab rats signature. Perfect to showcase your talents and what an advert for fab rats at shows!!
This was an epic trip picking up this sweet '55 Chevy and doing some repairs along the way. Nice that Ben (Michelle's brother) got to come along with Paul, Hunter and Sean on this road trip. Great video guys!
Ya mean AKA {allegedly} "the Mountain Dew Thief" ?
Looks like another project for Robbie to paint. Even the headliner is mint. Deserves a good restoration.
This car deserves full restoration. Not hacked up!!
This is home to me. I own a 55 Chevy and have had it since 1969.
Hey Paul, that's a great looking "barn find". The "Mountain Dew thief" mentioned that the engine was a 283 ci. If it's a stock '55 chev V8, it was a 265 ci. PS ... enjoyed your video.
I agree, 265 cu in.
Looks like your truck has a headlight out. Love the adventures.
It definitely has a headlight out. Between the two vehicles they’ve got two working so all good.😉
It's a Chevrolet with a Chinese made engine,😄, of course stuff don't work.🙄
I remember the 55' Chevy from Two Lane Blacktop. Same car used again in American Graffiti.
Dang boyo. You must be the luckiest man in 2023 Paul! That motor vehicle is a slice of history the kind of which I miss so much. And it's in beautiful original condition. One word of advice I will offer is, Cut'n'polish! Just beautiful.
It's primer
Cut and polish will do nothing
You scored big time! Definitely worth spending money on and keep it forever. If that's the original engine its a 265 and a cast iron powerglide.
You guys live under a lucky star I think! That is an awesome car. 5hr drive and only a little point trouble and running out a gas........perfect. Thank you for sharing
Man, Paul you gotta do the 8-trac to cassette adapter. then put in a cassette to cd adapter and plug that into your phone. Now that would blow Hunters mind! Great stuff guys.
What an absolute awesome find, that has been my dream car ever since I can remember, I'm 45 years young and that's my goal before I die, to own one of those, awesome video, keep up the great work. Glad your hand healed from the chainsaw accident. Lol
Wow. Awesome find!! I know you don’t usually do the exterior but the interior and car is in such great shape it would be a shame not to redo the paint. Let Robby paint that bad boy!!
Between this 55, and the Firebird .. you're starting a VERY nice collection!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
55s ROCK,
CONGRATULATIONS BUDDY 😊
The biggest mistake you could ever make is touch that gem. Look how excited you are discovering this amazing find. Can you imagine what it would be like another 30-30 years later.
What a cool car! I'm amazed you got it started and it ran so well after sitting so long. I think for this car, it would be nice to restore it to OEM as much as possible, and not modify it too much. I can see some updates like power steering and brakes, but try to keep it original! Great find, can't wait to see more videos!
Once in a lifetime find. Paul grinned all the way through this video. Great road trip! Fun video! Sweet car!
Congrats on the find! I had one when I was in high school in the 70's. I heard someone say it was a 283, if it is the original engine, it is a 265. The camshaft has a flat ground on the rear cam bearing to pass oil to the valve train. This was changed in '57 when the 283 came out. The 265 can be modified to accept a std cam by connecting the 2 holes in the rear camshaft bearing. Again, congrats
I looked at the valve cover and could tell it is a 265 by the way the bolt holes are staggered
Good catch!!! .. nice info,!! thanks
@@MikeBaxterABC You're welcome
I'm so excited for you guys! My wife's grandfather gave us his 55' Buick Roadmaster 4 door and it's in really great condition. I drove it an hour out of town and back and was sweating the whole way. But those old v8's are so resilient. I love cruising around town in it. It turns heads and starts conversations.

This is excellent. It is one of my bucket list dreams to buy a “barn find” rig, and drive it questionably across the country back home.
265 V/8's are great little motors! 👍
WOW!! What a great find!! That car is awesome!! I can't believe it's so rust free and even the headliner is still up!
Never blow more air into a carb fire. The carb has fuel in it, if you blow flame over the carb and gas vapors, it can be very bad. Many times I’ve pulled off my shirt and smothered out the fire when I had no better options. Be amazed how quick you can come out of a shirt when your car is on fire.
First time viewer. I’m enjoying!!!
You are correct in 1955 the V-8 was a 265 CI..
That car is what I would call a high quality diamond in the rough. This is truly a once in a lifetime find😮 can't wait to see the finished product.
The headliner in there looks like new. What an awesome car. So much fun.
Welcome to Pahrump!

Thanx for sharing your Great experience 👍, Paul, Hunter, Shaun and Ben

Please do a full restoration. She deserves it.
A rust free '55 Chevy 2-door is unbelievable find this day in age...!!! That is at minimum, a $20,000 car as she shits, and probably more than that! There are guys out there that would give $50,000 for that car as she sits! You are an owner of a hot rodder's dream find. How lucky can you get?! I've owned five '55 Chevy's in my day! All 2-doors. My first was a perfect Bel Air when I was 19-years old, in 1961, that I drove to high school my senior year, in Kennewick, WA. My second one was a 210 series six, automatic in excellent shape, that I dropped a new modified Jim Hall Chevy Chaparral 400hp 327, Anson bullet proof bell housing, HD manual clutch, Corvette Muncie 4-speed, and 4:11 third member, with performance bearings and seals in the rear end. She was a Jim Hall torque monster, and did 130mph in 10.2. The new hypo 427 Vettes could not touch her. The next four '55's were show cars, mostly detailed stock cars with beautiful naugahyde upholstery. I long since sold them all, but I've always wanted another one untouched, like yours! I am green with envy! I hope you restomod it, without altering her stock form, except maybe for custom wheels and tires. My favorite wheels and tires, were
red line tiger paws on 14"x 8" station wagon wheels, with stock baby 210-series hub caps with the white chevy bow tie! Low profile 17" or 18" wheels have their place, but not on a 1955 Chevy! I'd restore her original two tone cream and light green...!
Fun fact, the same 55 that Harrison Ford drove in “American Graffiti” was also used in the movie “Two Lane Blacktop”. I believe the rear axle on that car was also moved forward on that car gasser style
no axles were "moved"
Was just coming here to mention 2LBT. Am not as familiar with it as I am American Graffiti.
An axle was definitely moved in American Graffiti, right out the back of Holsteins cruiser 😂😂
Great car, congratulations on finding her. Sage metallic green and cream would be perfect.
LOVE THE 55 !!!
how lucky can you be. that body looks virgin. no signs that it has ever been wrecked or repaired with a bunch of bondo. this was a rare find.
Love the life you live is definitely a saying your crew lives by. Love the laughter and hijinks!
Wow! I graduated from high school in 1961 and that car was a young man’s first car in those days. I am so jealous of you getting that cool car the trip brought back lots of memories of working underneath and on top of a car as a kid, this is going to be a great ongoing adventure!
