@Debbie Underfinger, Donny just didn't like the song. But he really did love the color purple. Especially, when it came to his socks. Actually, he wrote in his book that his socks became a compulsive thing. He only felt comfortable with them on. That ended around 1980-81 when his wife talked him out of wearing them.
