I think it's worth mentioning that, when playing as Amelia, if you have Bubba active and running around you can press 'P' when standing next to him to initiate a petting animation. There's no gameplay benefit to doing this, but it elevates an already good game to a truly great one in my opinion.

When Pat mentioned not understanding the enemy references in HoloCure, I totally understood that. They're so in depth and constantly evolving, since the creator even said on twitter that they'll be updating the sprites as the holo girls make new mascots.

Even the attempt at "you just plain FAQing lose" at 30 minutes is a Hololive reference, though it's less about the fandom and more about the creator of the agency.

(also is not probably, they confirmed that Bloom & Gloom will replace the fairies & Yata will be replaced with the BreadDog, although they hinted the possibility of those two showing up as rare enemies)
The character dupe buff is 1% to attack, speed, and hp capped to 20% only.
And since the gacha machines are separated by their generation (currently EN gen 1 and EN gen 2 + Hope) it might not take that long to complete the set and just set the dupe farm later.
It took me all of like a few hours for enough gold to roll all the characters. A single successful run on stage mode is two~ rolls, depending on how much you upgraded coin drop rate (which there's no point in not doing because of the refund mechanic.)

I wanna see pat & woolie's reaction to Gura's love of Dante. Her DMC 3, 4 & 5 playthroughs were a delight.

Gura being a Nero appreciator should peak Woolie’s interest. Every little bit from Gura’s playthrough is gold. From Dande to Stinky Weeb Vergil, I crack up every time and is probably the only playthrough I went back to twice! All the Myth, Hope, and Council Girls scratch an itch.

Keep in mind, Pat and Woolie are style beasts and would probably struggle to watch Gura stinger into stinger into stinger into stinger into stinger into stinger for nearly every encounter.

The wildest thing to me here is not so much the boys talking about hololive, but Vampire Survivors, a game I've only been vaguely aware of recently,having blown up enough to be a whole ass subgenre already somehow.

More importantly, many of the talents are addicted to gacha, so that's another reference/ thing for them to like about it.
At least also it doesn't use real money, just the money you pickup in-game, but yeah the gacha is more of a reference at the cost of some RNG. Luckily, theres a benefit for duplicates.

Holocure has some great potential, IF they ever do get around to adding all the members, that's a roster of around 70+ characters
the only thing i wish the game had was a "coin detector" to point at offscreen uncollected coins like how it does for upgrades. its very easy to not even notice a coin has dropped amongst all the waves of enemies. and given how important the in-game currency is, im surprised the guy made it as difficult to get as it is.
only other thing i'd like to see, that im not expecting at all to happen, is when controller support is added that it can be like a twin stick shooter as strafing as-is is just a budget version of that.

However, since the game is free, the head developer does not want to make it a third job and they will not take any money, I will just make my peace with the current system.
Having all 70+ members is going to be insane. My best guess is that he has ideas for gamers and gen 0, but nothing for anything else. So he might take a really long break after gen 0 if he does not after gamers.

@@ceresbane it runs on game maker studio. A very VERY old game engine back when the only indie game you know is cave story.
Vampire survivor, on the other hand, is run on Unity and is suitable for current year gaming setups as far back as 2012. Past that, it can get iffy.
Game engines matter as well.

On the subject of Hololive, everyone go support Sana. She's graduating from EN at the end of the month due to health complications and personal issues.
I get why the Japanese fans let them get away with calling it "graduation", but it feels weird that English speaking fans are starting to use their corpo speak too.

I havent played it yet myself but now that I know you actually have to press buttons, I guess I will give it a go.
He is also buffing and nerfing the current characters right now as well. And seeing how each character is so diverse with their skills, it may take a while for a new character to be ready. Times that by five for a whole generation and it will be a while.
They posted a screenshot of the Holografiti office stage and Fubuki on their twitter with a hopeful August release. I assume that will have all of Gamers too, so I think that's a pretty good update speed so far.
I mean if I was them I would have already reached to Cover and see if they give me the license

oh yeah, i can imagine the thing made to end runs in Holocure would be confusing in a slightly terrifying way if you don't know things about Hololive, seeing as it's a giant moshpit of monsters that are the CEO's head with little nub limbs sticking out of it
but yeah, Holocure is being constantly updated, and the guy making it actually adds whatever possible things that the girls ask for during streams (a current example is that one of the girls from the next set asked to attack with her tail for her attack (she's a fox girl), so the guy went out of the way to do it)

There's an underline aspect that is a bit funny to this Holocure game.
If people don't know, after the Taiwan Incident Hololive got their stream license removed for Genshin Impact(among other things...) . Hololive made a bold move and decided to start making their OWN Genshin Impact clone in retaliation. And just recently they laid out a plan of a 'metaverse' (i know lol) to join the members of Hololive into multi-media entertainment ( anime, manga, videogames).
Essentially, Hololive was primed to be integrated into a game.... But this fangame kinda sniped it heh. Or well, kinda shows off the proof of concept in a way.
But honestly, I have to say that this Holocure conceptually (free game with continuously free content with fun core gameplay loop) just seems way better than an Official skinnerbox Gacha could be. I would be down to see Hololive hiring the dev so it can get an OFFICIAL release, so they(dev, and Hololive alike) can get sum compensation.
Limit Break isn't "the most overpowered" thing they added. You need to max out all your weapons and passives to even start using it, by which point you're already so powerful and around 25 minutes into a run anyway.
I find I can get it going faster with max weapons set to 1 or 2 and getting things like the duplicator ring that are fast to level.
Don't listen to Pat for actual game advice. His crazy talk is too much.
Forgive me if I'm wrong since I haven't got it yet. But can't you just start overleveling before picking up the yellow sign items, and leave them for later? Levelling crunch only happens for me when I'm going for laurel and Lancet, otherwise I'm maxed out at 20 minutes or so.
@@AnnCatsanndra One of the new secret characters even feels made for this; they start with the Heaven Sword (evolved Cross), so like most of the secret characters they're already much more powerful right away, but the real kicker is that, while their stats are actually fairly normal, instead of busted like Red Death or gimmicky like over half the others, their level up bonus is +2% *Growth* per level. Meaning that it's easier for them to *keep* leveling at a good rate for the entire run, without things slowing down.
Under normal circumstances? This wouldn't be that big a deal since it'd just be easier money/chicken after maxing their gear. With Limit Break on, though, and max weapons set to 1, they're going to keep scaling and scaling, at a rate that feels like it basically never slows down. Plus they benefit from that one arcana that boosts your Might and Cooldown (which is particularly important since it's not one of the things that you can boost with Limit Break) the fewer weapons you have, of course.
Let me just say that you have not truly played HoloCure until you've played as Fauna.

The only other worthwhile bit that I’ve seen in a vampire survivor clone is that if you stop moving for a while, your character activates their unique buff or skill for as long as you stay still.

The main reason HoloCure came to be was because members of Hololive really like Vampire Survivor, which in-turn grew the game’s popularity (it’s how I first heard of the game via Pekora’s stream highlights).
Fans Kay Yu, DuDuL, Smpletan then make HoloCure as both an homage to both the game that inspired it and the streamers that they enjoy (also making it free avoids a lot of potential issues).
My progression for HoloCure: I focused on earning coins first, unlocked ultimates in the shop, then shifting to unlocking all the girls at least once for variety (thankfully only got a couple dupes), then finally back to shop upgrades: Pickup Range, Money Gain Up, then EXP Up. Thankfully, earning coins is simply based on beating bosses and weaving through mobs to the coin pickups. I was able to unlock everyone after a couple hours.
Vtubers all over the shop. You'll be one too.... sooner or later.
The first initial "trailer" for Holocure already indicates a 2nd stage which is the Hololive office.
It be neat to see how far Kay Yu will go with this game.
Gotta say, as a Hololive fan this was an unexpected topic for you guys to discuss! According to the dev the next Holocure update is planned for August and will add stage 2 and 4 new characters for a total of 15, all of which have their own unique weapon (and 3 unique passive skills each) so by then I reckon there'll plenty of content. If you're interested in checking it out Woolie then that'd be a good time to try it.

The game mechanics in holocure are super impressive. The unique ultimate moves completely change the game! And now I really wish VS had a strafe button. Also the character unlock “gatcha” is barely that.
This is something recently added. If you get 7 duplicates you can literally just buy whatever character you want with a special currency that you get for each duplicate. And oh yeah this is all FREE. You can’t purchase ANYTHING with real money even if you wanted too!
Between this and Gura making a Vinny reference I think my classic and new entertainments are colliding

Holocure characters also have a set of 3 skills that you can get via standard level ups (up to 3 levels per skill)
and as for new things: creator wants to make the next big update for august and approximately 1-2 or so months per update. New map and character was revealed in screenshot on the game's twitter feed.

Vampire Survivor as a subgenre of bullet-hell makes he think what it really needs is a graze mechanic.
I don't think I got a single dupe before unlocking every girl. I know that's an outlier result, but I've yet to hear of anyone getting really swamped on dupes. I'm sure someone has had that luck, but I think the system favors getting a new unlock over dupes to some degree.

tried a projectile speed build, and there was a point where my 'NO FUTURE' blue lines and explosions were just filling the entire screen, and i just couldnt even see the enemies come into the screen cause they were dying too fast
Would be cool if you guys look at the new update for Holocure when it comes out as its been updated already a lot. With more characters, new features and a completely new part of the game. Give it a try at the end of August once the update has been posted on steam.
Love both pat and woolie and hololive/vtubers so this was a pleasant surprise.

Holocure is really really good. New (significant) update will be in August, with new characters, a new stage, and some reworks.
Sometimes Woolie comes off as the word "Vtuber" is a insta negative like an "e-thot".
Not all Vtubers are "uwu wifus" asking for people to simp for them, many even in Hololive and Nijisanji are just regular great streamers mostly being themselves that signed for getting a company support, tech to up their content and get that initial injection of +300k followers.
Actually if your only thing is to just be cutesy and not make any interesting content you are forgotten in a second with so many actually good content creators using the vtuber model platform.

Honestly, I think the whole vampire survivor genre would REALLY benefit from twin stick controls with auto attacking. Auto attacking is a hard requirement for this genre 100%...but god damn it let me use my mouse to direct my attacks!

Hope the guys give Outriders a full shot, the new expansion gives me the sane feelings as Devil Survivor when your build comes together and things get stupid. Guns can summon meteors and tornadoes and then explode when you reload, but I just lame it out with absurd damaging/buffing/debuffing turrets that destroy everything.

All of the HoloCure enemies aside from the bosses are representations of the Hololive talents' fanbases (the game is called HoloCure: Save the Fans because the premise is that the fans have gone insane and it's up to the girls to knock some sense into them). The beginning enemies are Gura's fanbase, the "Shrimps" (a play on simps). The skeletons after that are Calli's fanbase, the "Deadbeats", and so on and so forth.

Holocure is actually pretty baller if you were a fan of Vampire Survivors. Especially if you know all the references, I only knew a few and they were all toward Cali but it was super fun nonetheless.

One criticism I have of Holocure is that the passive items are way more situational than across the board good like in other games in this genre

I do not mind aiming and shooting in 20 Minutes Until Dawn, but the main thing that annoys me in it is 2 things, but even then it is not a huge deal:
1) Movement speed is reduced quite a bit while shooting
2) The dev implemented a Auto-Reload function with no way to toggle it off whenever you stop firing
The first is more a problem before you get some of the game's version of VS's Power-Ups, but it basically makes it so you have to decide whether to keep shooting while trying to fend off a mob or stop shooting so you can prevent yourself from getting surrounded. The second sounds like a QoL update that would be welcome, but when the game has perks that reset upon reload or do an extra thing alongside the last bullet in your clip it can be annoying when you have to stop shooting for a bit to avoid being surrounded. Yes you can stop the reload by shooting while the reload bar ticks down, but I am not sure if it already reset my bonus and what if the time you need the extra speed is longer than your reload. Though the concern of that is utterly moot if you do Spark with SMG and get never run out of bullets build going.

Fanbeam: Another merch that fans hold on to during their "concerts"
BL book: BL stands for "Boys Love" its usually associated with Gay hentai that Houshou Marine(the pirate girl from Gen 3) is terribly addicted to.
Axe: It represents Hoshimachi Suisei's psychotic tendencies, specifically when she plays GTAV, she just runs over pedestrians and laughs lol
Cutting Board: used to reference Uruha Rushia only but it has transended to Hololive girls that are flat chested, when other members/ the chat calls them a cutting board they just go berserk and hilarity usually ensues.
Plug type Asacoco: okay this one is kinda long to explain but the short answer is, Asacoco is a fictional product that Kiryu Coco came up and the product is an effect that will make you do terrible/cringey memes, plug type is one of the ways to put asacoco in your system but there are other ways like an oxygen mask and a straight uo syringe lol
Holobomb: its just a reference to minecraft since most of the girls there just prank eachother with TNT.
Elite Lava Bucket: its a reference to Sakura Miko, she always messes up whenever she has a bucket with Lava, she's burned a lot of buildings and killed herself multiple times because she's always equipping it lol.
Spider cooking: one of the gen 1 girls; Akai Haato cooked a spider on stream, it was glorious.
As for their weapons, its just a reference to their character design for example Since Amelia watson is a detective, of course she has a gun or calli having a scythe since she's a death god/Shinigami makes sense.
