    The eerie feel about zombie maps back in BO1 was insane. I am living in Berlin. I see the TV Tower everyday and seeing it in Kino as a kid I felt so unique like I know things others dont :D. The feeling when the first DLC with Ascension dropped, oh man, never in my young life was I so invested in all of this. Completing the Easter Eggs with complete strangers online. Even finding people who knew like one week after how to solve it, was rare. Knowing more than other players the next round with other strangers and showing them everything. The community discovered this like all together. It was truly a unique time.

      I strongly believe what made Zombies so interesting was this eerie escalation of details that mirrored reality. More than just putting in swastikas and telling their lore is deep, They've shown zombies in the pentagon and didn't even cite Op Paper clip, because they trusted the brains of their fans and knew they would be able to connect the dots.
      *They shown their Lore, they didn't tell it.*
      Unfortunatelly Zombies will never be the same thing. While the original team worked to create a fun bonus and limited game mode and make it interesting. Mixing real life events with fiction to push the fans to make their own investigation about the hidden lore. The new developers live off the hype of the mediocre establishment built by their legacy, where they can`t create the same effect because everything is fabricated and demands a cutscene to explain all. Specially because they themselves are unable to understand their own lore, looking at how they said who is clearly Richtofen, on Ascension's poster, was a character that didn't even dreamed to exist in 2011. So only they can *tell* how deep their story line is.
      Zombies went from decent and self aware piece of art and entertainment to a convoluted cancerous mass that thinks itself to be a masterpiece of storytelling.

    • @deadkey
      @deadkey Год назад +3

      @@tavarix5893 The storytelling was a bit like the Souls games from FromSoftware. They do this since 2010, and its still so successful and interesting way of telling a story/create a universe.
      But I doubt, that Treyarch will go back to it. Nowadays every game is made for everyone. Everyone needs to be able to understand this. Cutscenes, Eastereggs are like a questline/or turned into a story overall. The mystery of zombies vanished alot through that. Tho I still liked Cold War Zombies. But it just feels different. To official. Difficult to explain.

The hype-train of Black Ops 1 leading up to Moon post Shang was incredible. And because it was still the early days of RUclips, it wasn't spoiled immediately and before the map was even out.
      Then they had to go and ruin the main storyline with origins, and aliens and generic evil bad guys that were behind everything the whole time. The obsession with Lovecraft and time loops. Genuinely don't care about any of that. I went from somebody who is day one on every Map, playing for thousands of hours, to ditching around Black Ops 4 and never looking back

Seeing the passion that Treyarch had for Zombies in WaW and Bo1 makes me miss those days.

      Most developers don’t want to sell micro transactions. That’s the stupidest thing I ever heard. It’s the company themselves that force the devs to make micro transactions because people are stupid enough to spend money on it. A LOT of money. We are the ones that really caused this problem. If we just refused to spend money on fake currency companies would see that micro transactions don’t make money and would just get rid of them. Also I have never spent a penny on micro transactions.

If you play maps like Shi no Numa and Ascension and another map which I forgot, when the zombies become undead and the brain is practically the only thing functioning, It resorts them to doing the things they were fused into doing. For example going onto Shi No Numa the Japanese "fast walking" to you look like theyre charging you with a rifle with a bayonet on there like they're doing their "Banzai" Maneuver or the zombies in Ascension the soldiers were trained to do combat maneuvers to which they were fused with it already. Hi, german speaker here. Just wanted to correct you about the Bismark poster. So the word "Die" actually does not mean die (as a person can die) it is a german article. It basically means "the". I know it's confusing because of the same writing. So the whole sentence translates to: The Bismark.
    Fun fact: the poster is made in a specific style (font, position of the ship and figures). This was often used for propaganda posters advertising the german airforce, infantry and tank force back in WW2. It's a very nice detail

    Looking back on all this Black Ops 1 stuff makes me so sad and nostalgic because I really miss when zombies was grounded in conspiracy theories, government Shadow organizations, the Illuminati and so on. Cults and so on. Seeing how each government experimented with Nazi technology and a mysterious and rare Element. Whether it's the horrors under the Pentagon or the Soviets cosmodrome. The creepy ambient piano music in the background. Wondering what the state of the world was like and all the subtle little notes or brick Easter eggs and radios. Trying to piece together the story instead of RUclipsrs and game developers explaining it an hour-long videos before the map is even released.
    I kind of lost interest when governments and Shadow organizations stopped being the villain. The post-mortem villain anyway, since they were killed by their own failures and we would have to deal with it. Instead of getting replaced by generic evil aliens who were apparently behind everything all along. In favor of Jason's obsession with Lovecraft, occult stuff and time loops. We lost all of Jimmy's mystery, we lost the creepiness and what little reality there was. We lost all mystery and constantly creating these urban legends among the community. Or these myths, knowing the slightest bit about the story and loading into a public match always made you feel kind of cool. Now you load into a map, dump the same exposition on to you every single match, you constantly have main characters like Samantha or Monty talking into your ear. Telling you what to do. You practically have to do half of the Easter egg just to get the wonder weapon, Pack-a-Punch or upgrade the wonder weapon, there are some apps I just don't even like to play like shadows or zetsubo because the tedious hour-long setup.
    I miss the Jimmy Z era of zombies. I miss the mystery.

I have a clip of that happening to me and a buddy of mine, on BO3 moon. We were both undamaged, it spawned a (lemme find the clip real fast,) mr6 it appears to be, and it starts firing explosive bullets, and starts to rotate. It then shoots me and im instantly downed, and then it keeps rotating and shoots my buddy, killing him instantly too, and we get a game over.
