I was very sorry for the deer of King Thranduil and the boar of Dain Ironfoot, and I was very glad when all these vile orcs that killed these animals, and many elves, gnomes and people, all these orcish bastards are cut to the root.
I am more curios why didn't the dwarves just hold the center line and the elves the flanks while the eleven archers slaughtered the orcs with vollies of arrows?
Vampire Slayer because the people that made this fight scene cared more about flashy fight moves than sound tactical strategy. The book makes much more tactical sense.
The real question is how did the elves think jumping over the shield wall towards the charging horde of orcs was going to end. They have a wall of shields held by quite probably the most resilient creatures of the middle earth with spears poking at everything that moves towards it. Essentially a fortification. And the elves jump over that shit completely negating any benefit the dwarves presented. They are supposed to be smart... Plus the war chariots charging in direct vicinity of the one thing that can harm them, trolls, riding the bear into a melee which is something no cavalry should ever do (same with the elk) and risking the leaders ending up surrounded at which point their personal guards get slaughtered. In the book at least Tolkien made an effort to outline strategies.

if i saw the right one- That's a boar spear, its to keep what you stab on the blade to easily remove it as spear's shaft would get stuck.
