    I've made one of those 'Milwaukee finger files' out of the cut off tool and a cheap chinese air finger file, it worked incredibly well - but this seems like a much more polished tool! If I didn't have my home made one I'd definitely get this as its such a useful tool!

      Same here. I built mine about 2 1/2 years ago. I built it just because I thought it was cool, and I was hoping it wouldn't be a waste of money. I ended up using it a lot and was really glad I had it. I just wish it had variable speed. I would totally get this new "official" version if I didn't already have one.

    Dynabrade makes the same pneumatic version of the tool. It's pricey but you absolutley get what you pay for. I work in the collision industry and cut spot welds with these everyday. The roller bearing and head assembly is a consumable and the dynabrade is extremely serviceable and very very robust. Not throwing shade at milwaukee but this is a niche tool for grinding and only time will tell if it can hold up

    I know it’s a knockoff store brand, but the Kobalt cut off tool is pretty interesting. It has wood and flush wood and metal blades. I don’t have one yet but the range of material you can cut is great. A bit bigger than the M12 of course. But it also has a larger blade.
    Kobalt batteries are also amazingly cheap.

  • @spencereagle1118

    Interesting that it will run in reverse. Belts are directional because of the way the joints are bonded, they always have an arrow on the inside showing the direction of rotation. Maybe they want to sell you more belts?

    • @robertcasey3528
      @robertcasey3528 Год назад +2

      Yeah if you run that in reverse it'll break the belt. That was a stupid idea.

    • @ToyotaKTM
      @ToyotaKTM Год назад

      The belt is reversible. Sometimes tools match the job, better in reverse. My Dremel always sprays me with chips since it doesn't have reverse.

    • @spencereagle1118
      @spencereagle1118 Год назад

      @@ToyotaKTM Have you ever even used a filing sander? The belts are not reversible. They are made to be mounted and marked to run in one direction, otherwise they will break prematurely.

    • @ToyotaKTM
      @ToyotaKTM Год назад +2

      What I meant is that the belt can be installed in reverse when using the reverse switch. That way the belt will travel in it's correct direction. The belt is reversible on the tool.

    • @spencereagle1118
      @spencereagle1118 Год назад

      @@ToyotaKTM I see what you are saying there, but aren't people going to flip the switch rather than rotate the belt. The whole idea is bonkers anyway as all you are doing is throwing a stream of sparks into your face. Mark my words, the feature will be withdrawn as soon as Milwaukee are hit with a product liability claim. Imagine the sparks setting fire to someone's hair or clothing when they are lying under a car?

    That looks handy! Compact and rotating for use in small spaces.
    But seeing your video i foresee a problem working with gloves (which you always do grinding) and the speed control. Also the 4 step speedcontrol might be not ideal to prevent high rpm and 'burning' vs too slow on softer materials. So it main design seems for use on metal. A full variable speed would be mandatory for soft materials.
    For 10 years now I use 2 makita's 9, 13, mm rotating and fixed 30mm 332mm belt files for work on boats. Thus gelcoats and GPR. The diameter of the 30mm bellt roller is (still) king on boats since it is the same as fillets in edges. Since motors fauls and quit very fast grinding polyester/expoxy which cost me sa lot of sanders, i am happy surprised that the makita's are still holding up, on this aspect.

    That's a winner. Now that I'm seeing this, I think for how simple it is, maybe it would be better to have an attachment for the cutoff tool (which I own and haven't used yet). Some of these tools really should just be attachments on the same motor. But why would milwaukee do that when people will spend another $250?

    • @nachoisme
      @nachoisme Год назад +1

      Because they could charge $125-150 and likely make more profit for just the attachment. I doubt many people are getting this tool as a stand alone while they own an entire line of battery tools from another brand.

      @martylucas8557 Год назад

      @@lastbesttool, you’re welcome. I have both the M12 and M18 Fuel Hackzalls. I only break out the M18 if it’s a much larger project, since the M12 is so powerful and compact. In fact that’s how I first got into Milwaukee Tools about 3 1/2 years ago. We were doing a complete remodel of our kitchen. When taking out the old custom cabinets, I found that they ran up through and were attached to the soffit. I was using an old corded Porter Cable Tiger Saw to cut them out, while trying to preserve the soffit…but failing miserably. The Tiger Saw while powerful, vibrated a lot, nearly ripping the soffits down. So I went to Home Depot to look for a better solution, coming across the Milwaukee M12 Fuel Hackzall. They were running a promo, so I picked it up. The performance Between it and the Porter Cable was night and day. It had the power to cut through the thick old wood and 16 penny nails, with the finesse and control not to bring down the soffit. It was my first Milwaukee tool, I now have about 40 M12 and M18 tools, plus PackOut.
      If you haven’t already done so, now’s a good time to checkout all of the new tools they’re coming out with, since last week was their Pipeline 2023. There’s lots of footage from various RUclips creators that attended.
      I really like the new M12 Bandfile. Looks to be a well made and versatile tool.

      @@lastbesttool, I forgot to mention… I’ve been pairing both the M12 and M18 Hackzalls with the Diablo Carbide Pruning Blades. Wow! What a combo for doing outdoor work. With the 9” or 12” blade I can easily saw through thick, huge logs. They’re great for larger or more delicate pruning as well.

If you watch your own video, you’ll see what I mean, and then watch some other peoples videos, and they may do it just as much or possibly even more then there are other videos where they are extremely informative, and do not use any filler words at all.
