Android 14 improves the battery alot. I took my phone off the charger at 2:48am and it's 7:00 pm now with almost 4 hours of on screen time and 55% of battery left.
I had gotten the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 back when it first came out. The main thing I still wished to have had is an aspect ratio where when the phone is closed, it actually looks like a normal phone. So when I saw that Google did this with the Pixel Fold, and they even fixed the awkward gap that the Z Fold 4 has when it is closed was two great steps in the right direction. It only took Samsung 5 versions of their phone to at least address the random closed gap, but I foresee that the Pixel line is going to blow Samsung out of the water at this rate. The only reason why I didn't wait for the Pixel Fold and would still go with Samsung is simply due to some of the proprietary apps that Samsung has, such as Samsung Pay. Otherwise, I would've been sold a long time ago and finally gotten a Google phone.
The hinge isn't what causes the bezels. The inner screen size causes the bezels. The inner panel is the same size as the Z Fold, it's just rotated 90° into landscape. The outer panel would be much shorter if it was the height of the inner panel in its landscape orientation. The extra height the outer panel needs is what causes the bezels. Getting a custom dimensioned panel for the inside would have been too expensive... amongst other issues. Good video though. Very enjoyable. 😊
I keep looking to buy it but im just not sure if i should hold on for the iphone 15, im currently using a pixel 7 and can honestly say i really like it, i just dont want to regret getting a Pixel Fold
Great content! I understand all the things to do to save battery life but in my opinion if you're paying $1,800 for any phone you run it at full speed. Most folks are near electric outlets to recharge if needed and if not battery packs are available. In the car you have car chargers. Unless you have a job where you are out in the woods for 14 hours a day this shouldn't be an issue but even then battery packs are the answer.
Totally agree. Given the price we shouldn’t have to worry about altering much to enjoy the phone, but until that time comes I’ll do so and hope the 2nd gen has better battery improvements.
Great review. I love my fold so far. I'm running android 14 beta and my battery is better. My main phone is an iPhone so I'm not burning through battery anyway. I do wish the signal was better.
