Same here. I've had all the pixels skip the 2 and 4. I debated several days if it was worth it. And it 100% is. Almost a dream phone. One handed phone when folded, big screen for games or content consumption. Pocketable, a tad heavy but manageable.

To me the thing that makes not being able to go with the Pixel Fold and stick with my Z Fold 4 is the ability to use a pen. I use it a lot to take notes and read, study and underline things. And the missing "desktop mode" that instead works great with Dex. I think the Z Fold 4 now is much more all round device than the Pixel Fold. But I have great hopes for the next iteration :) Thanks for the great review.

The Pixel Fold is nice. For me I prefer the Z Fold since I use more than 2 apps at the same time for work purposes. The S Pen makes my work a whole lot easier as it allows to put notes on screenshots amongst other things. Most people only need their phones for personal use (phone calls and social media) so this might not matter to them but for business and a better multi tasking experience (more than 2 apps open at a time) the Fold 4 is the winner for me. I enjoyed your video. Great job!

So I love my Pixel Fold. But one thing I ended up replacing right away was the home app. The Nova Launcher is just a better experience. Still doesn't allow seperate home setups but just feels better and allows me to remove the junk from the bottem and just have a cleaner home screen. To the battery and charging do you have adaptive charging on? Because that will dramatically slow down charging to protect the battery. I haven't had any issues with the phone battery. It stays powered all day.

I forgot how much I enjoyed having a comfortable one handed phone coming from the Z Fold 3 which I used the inner screen 98% of the time.
I'm using both screens on the Pixel, but I'd have to say I use the front screen significantly more while out and about.
I'll use the inner screen more when lounging on the couch or in bed...especially when doing work emails late at night in bed.

I looks very good in terms of form factor, however I still like the Samsung Fold more due to a few reasons:
    1. The s-pen. I do not use it a lot, but I would really miss it. I also waited from switching from the Note-series to the fold with the fold 3 due to the s-pen
    2. Durability. Jerry did a test and it shocked me how easily this breaks
    3. Customisation. I like to make my phone my own, the possibilities Samsung build in are endless
But I love the form factor, also love the Duo. Hope the Fold 5 gets a little wider again compared to the 4 and based on leak with the photos where you see the 5 closes flat and one next to the 4, it looks indeed a few mm wider (i measured it on the screen).

Great review. I would have liked to see more comparison call outs to the Duo. As the Duo line ages out, I think there are enough of us who aren't going to give up a second screen. But I appreciate those you did toss in.

This is a good review. Personally, it seems like lots of compromise, more than others. I really like the size of the front screen, and that's about it (but it's big). I've come to realize that developers in the Android system won't fix things for Google, this isn't iOS. Samsung fixes so many missing features and the OEM has to. Polished and thought out is not what screams out here. I also really wish they had just done the great thing with Pixel cameras! Here, just another middling choice, those photos looked really mushy. I just had high hopes, it's reminiscent of the Duo in some ways so I see why that really appeals to you, the form is great. My last fear is simply Google's customer service if this does have inevitable build issues, they're awful. If I sound negative, I just really wanted this to be ..what might be unrealistic for their first go. Really appreciate your reviews, thanks for being long winded!! PS - nothing feels like a greater compromise than the Fold front screen, so this is a good base.

It's interesting how massively different screen on time varies from device to device, some people's fold seems to have only ok battery life and other great, like mine right now in accubattery is sitting at 14 hours 45 mins for it's estimated screen on time.
On apps formatting I've noticed after playing with developer setting and changing my dpi to 500, the problematic apps if launched on the inner screen when rotated to portrait the apps will fill the screen and retain that when rotated back, however if launched in landscape it reversed with opening narrow and staying narrow when rotated.

Your comment makes me feel a bit more secure in my purchase.

Just to follow this up: I got the phone. Currently, it is getting better battery life than my Pixel 7 Pro did because I am using the cover screen so much. There was an update when I got the phone, so I'm guessing they addressed the battery issues with that. Right now I have used the phone for 2 hrs 16min and still have 93% battery left. Pixel fold looks like they fixed everything I wanted fix in the Duo 2. Shame that Microsoft didn't do it first with a Duo 3.

  • @Arsenic0017
    @Arsenic0017 Год назад +2

Great review. I think I am keeping my Pixel Fold and selling the Duo 2. It isn't perfect but it is a leap ahead of the Duo 2 in most of the areas that matter. My biggest gripe is how annoying it is to get two apps side-by-side compared to the Duo. You can do it, but it's almost too annoying to bother IMO. Pixel Fold needed "app pair" shortcuts like yesterday!
P.S. Video idea: show side by side how a bunch of different popular apps behave currently on ZFold 4 and Pixel Fold. Curious how they both handle things like Twitter, Radarscope, Facebook, Office apps, Kindle, Podcasts, GamePass, Prime, ESPN, Nest, Messages, Reddit apps, Gmail, etc.

i had really hoped that if Microsoft had in fact backed out of phones that they might have actually teamed up with google for the pixel. it doesn't seem too bad though and hopefully they can implement the black parts with the launcher like you mentioned.

Stackable widgets, being able to pull the text message thread down to the middle of the phone, a brightness slider that allows me to set a minimum brightness and the screen never gets any darker is amazing. One thing that was a complete deal breaker for me was the inability to use Gboard keyboard for your work apps. Yes, you can install Gboard and select it as the default keyboard for your PERSONAL apps, but for work apps(if your job requires MDM), you cannot just select Gboard and you might, like me, get stuck with your IT department to whitelist an app they don't want to. I could not handle the Samsung keyboard. It just makes so many mistakes, and even more on the cover screen which is too crammed in the first place.

It was working fine for me until I tried to use the "live paper" it installed a plugin and after that it would not use the full inner display, just give me black bars either side. I delete the app, install again then its fine for about half a day. Then back to black bars. Just wondering if anyone else with a Pixel Fold has seen this. Great videos. 👍
