I hope you enjoyed the first Bleach Battle Analysis of the year! What's your favourite moment from this fight? How does this battle rank for you among Ichigo's other fights? Let me know in the comments!
I kinda wish the fight would have ended at the hand catch / slash. Would have been my favorite if not for dragging it on a bit longer, second favorite fight overall.
This fight is my 2nd favourite fight!!! My first is Ichigo vs Ulquiorra. My favourite moment of it is when Ichigo cuts through Grimmjows final attack while saying he is going to bring back all of his friends with him. What do you think about Grimmjow’s look he gave Ichigo right before he’s impaled by his sword. It’s always been a mystery to me…
My favourite anime fight of all time. “Grind… Pantera” Is so damn hype! I’ve watched it probably 30 times, amazing choreography, and underrated animation for that 2007/2009 era.
Goddamn right! Tommo is coming guns blazing this year with my all-time fav battle as well. And I get to come in at the same time with one other absolute legend of the fanbase. 2022 is up to a great start.
I really like the parallel between this fight and Ichigo and Orihime vs Yhwach. In both fights, Ichigo calls forth his Hollow powers and it makes Orihime feel fear. But while masked Ichigo looks back at Orihime calling for him, looking all scary and grim, when he looks back at her after activating the Horn of Salvation with a giant smile, it signified that Ichigo no longer had to choose between his humanity and power. In the Throne Room, he had both, in his present self, in the past's heritage of his mother and in the future, with Orihime by his side.
@@OriginalTrapstar Yeah, I hope the final battle gets extended in the anime. Ichigo's speed vs Yhwach's traps would be nice to see, maybe some tag team combos with Orihime's techniques: make her defend against Yhwach's reiatsu, restore traps so that they can be used against the King and even throw in Tsubaki for counters...
And then Yhawch just breaks Ichigo's Bankai and Horn in a space of 4 panels, beats Inoue offscreen and gives Ichigo the beating equivalent of a drunken dad with a bicycle chain finding out his son stolen the booze money to buy said bike.
Honestly my favorite part about this fight is how the inner struggles of Orihime and Ichigo really feed off each other as the fight drags on. Grimmjow had almost successfully pushed his worldview onto Ichigo before Nel helped settle Orihime's inner conflict
I love Grimmjow's release, it's my second favorite after Barragan. It makes sense that the Pantera/Panther Espada would look very feline and aerodynamic, slimmed down so he could do all his crazy spins, kicks & clawing. He's my favorite fighter; his choreography is such a delight, going from this boxing fiend into a hellcat.
I just felt like Kubo was making Grimmjow's release look like Ichigo's Bankai. I felt that he was going for symmetry. Ichigo become hollow to become like an Espada and Grimmjow releasing to look more like Ichigo. I felt that Grimmjow was the most Ichigo-like of the hollows.
It's interesting to think how the battle would have gone if Ichigo hadn't jumped into the way of the missiles to save Orihime. If he truly was allowing his hollow feeling to dictate this fight and he was enjoying the fight, I think it's possible he was allowing the fight to continue on longer than he needed to. Maybe he had the power to win immediately, but held himself back in order to enjoy the fight. That theme is seen multiple times in the manga
I didn’t think about that. It makes that final scene where Ichigo grabs Grimmjow’s hand more than just a cool protagonist moment. Literally, “alright man, fun’s over.”
I liked how this fight was more a battle for Ichigo's humanity vs his monstrous Hollow side with Orihime being the literal manifestation of that spark of light in his soul. The ending with Ichigo being his normal self and stopping Grimmjow while sparing him really showed what side really won out. It was an epic battle and it sure had a humbling effect on Grimmjow that would be complete by the TYBW and its aftermath with him calming down.
@@sarthakarora3212 lets be real. He's the unofficial king of hueco mundo and halibel an nel ain't trying to fight him for it. Also even kenpachi wanted to fight him when he went Pantera and I thought that was a nod to how far he's come power wise.
@@sarthakarora3212 no. Its stated in the novel that Halibel hasn't officially declared herself queen of hueco mundo because she doesn't want to have to fight grimmjaw. Kenpachi acknowledging grimmjaw and even saying that the blue haired punk reminds me of ichigo is evidence enough that grimmjaw has increased leaps and bounds in power. Mind you kenpachi in cfyow an SAFWY is an actual monster in terms of power even in base.
I mostly remember the anime adaptation of this fight, and tremendously enjoyed it as a super fun, high-impact slugfest. Grimmjow himself being a great character, along with Ichigo struggling to control his Hollow side and the surprisingly emotional ending, definitely added something extra to the fight, and those giant pillars made for some really nice environmental destruction too. Overall it's definitely one of my favorite fights in the series, I liked pretty much everything about it.
I always took the comment on how the Espada changed Orihime to be Grimmjow implying that she was abused physically. Which she was. Though of course his usage would imply it was far worse than it was. And I still think that implication is more suitable a taunt, since of course Orihime would have erased any such damage and Ichigo would never know about it unless someone who witnessed it told him. Like Grimmjow did. And part of why that all makes more sense is that Ichigo would never believe that Orihime was a traitor, so suggesting that the Espada changed her mindset would be ignored, but suggesting they hurt her body is something that would drive him into a rage as it's perfectly within the realm of possibility. And again, it did happen.
@@animeato7865 I mean white and old man zangetsu are literally apart of his power, as proved by The Blade is Me. Ichigo always wins with his own power, it's just always been subdued by old man zangetsu because of his own motives and even further more by ichigo's own fear of his inner hollow taking over.
@@animeato7865 true, he does. But usually he has like some moment where he goes from losing, to getting his resolve. Like against renji, he is losing the whole fight, before he remembers what kisuke taught him, and then manages to win with a single getsuga tensho, that he hasn't even mastered yet. Similar thing happens with ikakku, but it is more evenly matched. This fight with grimmjow, feels like the most uninterupted, just pure battle that ichigo has ever had. Besides maybe Ginjo? But Ginjo was never really a threat to him after he got his powers back.
I always found Ichigo's eyes to reflect a ton of sadness when he had to put on the mask here. We all knew he was afraid of what could happen, but here we see him almost fully REGRET having to put it on at all while fighting. The panels here almost made me tear up do to the fact that he knew he may lose himself, but needed to use the mask to ensure he could protect his friends.
This was by far the best fight for me from animation and choreography . That's why the chapter is titled as jugulator. Jugolator demons are fighting each other Although hollowfied bankai ichigo isn't so strong the fight was fun
for real man, this what i’ve been saying for years now about this fight. so intense and with such hard-hitting, heart pounding blows. the anime did an incredible job with adapting the animation and the fight choreography, def my favorite fight in the series.
This is my favorite fight in the series, the fact that Ichigo and Grimmjow are on equal footing. Orihime's inclusion and that affects Ichigo's mental for both worse at first and then better by the end. Absolute fire
Yes! That final round is AWESOME! 8 chapters have never gone by so fast, and the 3 anime episodes based on them are full of some of the most visually interesting and well choreographed seqeunces in the series. This is an example of Bleach at it's best.
This is my favorite fight of the series! I got chills as they were clashing at top form and the anime has a scene where they pass each other, look over their shoulders at each other, and clash again. It was tremendously epic and no other fight really excited me like this one did. Thanks for the breakdown!
This is one of my favorite fights in all of Bleach. I feel it is one of the most well-rounded battles in the series, having a great combination of themes, choreography and cool factor. It's just really solid all-around. And the anime did a wonderful job with this fight, especially the first half. The music and animation when Grimmjow goes: "Grind, Pantera!", is phenomenal. Great analysis as always Tommo!
This battle has a special place in my heart cause it was around that time I started to read the manga on weekly basis (ca summer of 2007) Before that I was an anime only Bleach fan - yeah, I got into Bleach when the Bount arc was airing (and did not run away!), but I was rather casual. Around Arrancar arc I got more invested but then episodes 127-137 happened and I just could not any longer to see what will unfold next for Ichigo and the gang.
This the best fight of the anime. Also I’ve wanted to tell you about the purple getsuga tensho Ichigo used in the trailer, I think they made it purple as a reference to Ginjou who has a power with the same color.
I find it really unique that this "ichigo vs grimjaw round 3" is not the only battle that was happening right there the other of course being orihime vs her feelings about hollowed ichigo..her fear and horror at the sight of ichigo's hollowfied face.. The conclusion of both fights is honestly amazing.. And i love that boht orihime and ichigo managed to defeat their ememies..mental and physical
This battle is definitely one of my favorite fights, not just in Bleach but in all of anime and manga for pretty much all the reasons listed. Ichigo and Grimmjow's rivalry has always been in my opinion the best in the series because they were so alike, yet so different, which were shown in their battles and interactions with other characters. I've always felt like their rivalry and subsequent final battle had a strongest dynamic of "man vs. beast", which got even stronger when Grimmjow used his Recurreccion which turned him into an actual beast. He always seemed to embody the more feral aspects that Hollows had-running off of instinct and a need to fight and stimulate themselves. For most of their final battle Ichigo was definitely tittering the line of becoming a monster himself, which was a nice counterbalance to the physical life-or-death battle he and Grimmjow had. Orihime in a sense was fighting that same battle with him, but like you said, neither of them could really "see" each other adding a sense of tragedy to it. It was very much set up like a classic shonen battle, but with the kind of intense psychological focus that I've come to love from Bleach. As someone who's seen the fight primarily through the anime, hearing the battle depicted in the manga was actually pretty informative. The extra chapter sketch involving Ichigo's Hollow self being freed after Orihime called out to him was a nice touch and likely representing him rediscovering his resolve to win. Another difference between Ichigo and Grimmjow occurred to me after watching the last segment of the video. Ichigo and Grimmjow (much like the former and Aizen) represent two different versions of kingship. Grimmjow definitely had amongst the largest batch of Fraccion, they did lift him up and likely fed into his strong drive to assert himself as the strongest. He's the "barbaric, battle-hungry" king that opposes Ichigo, who draws strength from his friends ("subjects") and will fight to protect them to his dying breath. Ichigo can also be said to be a more merciful king as he spared Grimmjow even after the latter was beaten and trying to keep on fighting.
Man this fight is probably the best in the show. No one seemed too powerful at any point, none of the power ups are wasted or turn the tide too much. The stakes feel high and the emotions fit too. I prefer this way more than ichigo vs ulquiorra for way too many reasons
Yes, I liked it because it made you feel like it was an actual fight to the death and both of them where full strength when fighting as well. Plus it wasn’t no major ass pull at all.
When I was younger , I would immediately shit on this fight and praise ichigo vs ulquiora, now I realize that ichigo vs grimjow felt like a actual fight where both are equally matched and pushed to their limits , where ichigo vs ulquirra is a dbz light show and it is a example of a trope kubo often does where the hero is at first curbstomped and then gets the upper hand and easily defeats the opponent.
i love how in this battle in some way grimmjow teaches ichigo some things about his inner hollow and somehow understanding himself at the end of the fight, even in ichigo vs yuha ichigo using gran rey cero may be somehow because of grimmjow
I always felt Grimmjows resurrection should have had him with a vicious skeletal grinning feline mask in the style of the masks scorpion / subzero wear, possibly able to open for screams / possibly gran ray ceros
I love the way the anime did that moment with Ichigo and Orihime staring at one another. Sora's hollow mask flashes on Ichigo's and it's such a horrifying sight, one of the few times the anime expressed horror very well.
I like to think that during his fight with Grimjow Ichigo started relying more on more on his killer instinct thanks to the influence of the hollow self and it wasn't until Ichigo told him not to die that he regained his sense of self and was able to concentrate his spirit energy more so he could take out Grimjow finally and even combine some of his hollow and shinigami powers together without realising.
I believe Harribel had a small speaking part in the tea party where she chastised Nnoitra about something. I liked her and her fracciones little interaction there, though. Never really liked the "Can't get hurt anymore" moment or how Grimmjow's ultimate power was basically a wet fart that does basically no damage and is then immediately overcome. I do enjoy the fight overall, though. I actually preferred Grimmjow's fighting before his resurreccion. He seemed like such an intelligent fighter despite being this wild force of destruction. One of the pillar Ichigo fights.
This fight was amazing, the manga looked great, and the series did it justice, i mean choreography, music, the destruction and scenario makes you realize how strong they both are. Hands down top 3 anime fights
Nel's speech really brought me to tears. Grimmjow is my favorite character but my biggest criticism of his resurrection are probably the ears. Reminds me somehow of a christmas elf or Grinch. I think the "back to the roots" animalistic design fits good to his nature but it could be better. 😊
I like the way the gran rey cero looks in the anime, but I also agree it looks a bit weird and "not quite right" I think this is intentional, it's mentioned that the gran rey cero warps space and I think it sort of jumping around in the anime and looking funky is supposed to be a visualization of space being distorted and thus the attack being very distorted as well
I would've loved it Ichigo would've started fighting like Hollow Ichigo after he learns to accept his hollow side in the tybw. (Like swinging the blade with the Cloth, and using the getsuga Tenshou's together with the sword attacks.) After gaining his Humanity, loosing it vs Ulquiorra and then perfecting it at the Dangai. Would've shown so much growth.
Thoroughly enjoy your content and appreciate it immensely, reminding me of an absolutely great time I had reading this whole Manga back in the day! Random Question... What Microphone do you use to record your videos? (Asking from a content creator's standpoint)
Grimmjow’s personality really made me want to see him fight Kenpachi Although now I worry Kenpachi would just squish him like a bug now that he has his bankai
Unless it was just an anime only thing, Harribel does speak but it was when the Espada were in the meeting room with Aizen about Ichigo and company. She told Nnoitra about judging the invaders as he played the overconfident card.
2nd best fight in the anime to me. Such a goated villian and an amazing fight to watch. Outside of the TYBW fights only Ulquiorra vs Ichigo tops this one for me. Goated nonetheless.
Something that you didn't talk about, I feel like when Ichigo is naming who he's going to defeat and who he's going to save is sort of a callback to when Urahara taught him about resolve before going to Soul Society.
That Orihime plot was also brought up at the very start of Las Noches where Orihime admits to Ulquiorra that her Mind, Body, and Soul belong to Aizen now. The anime even made it a point to make her eyes glazed and her voice a disturbing monotone when she said it. Honestly if this was a dropped plot point then I really wanna know what that plot was cause it sounds pretty dark and compelling.
I love everything in this fight except the end, how Ichigo defeated Grimmjow was kinda uninspired. It's a shame we never got more Vizard vs Arrancar one on one slug outs like this, it's was pretty brutal. The best part about it was all the Grimmjow/Hollow backstory, I thought that was brilliant worldbuilding It had that naturalistic darwinian feel to it.
Pros * Grimmjow's first time Resurrección * Grimmjow's techniques (About 2 unique to him and 3 if you count Gran Rey Cero) * The anime adaptation of this fight, you can tremendously enjoy it as a super fun, high-impact slugfest. Cons * Why Ichigo can wear his hollow mask for more than 11 seconds is not explained. * How Ichigo is all of a sudden equal with Grimmjow in his base when he needed the hollow mask in the first place to keep up with him. * Gran Rey Cero was never used again *Grimmjow's ultimate technique was basically a wet fart that does basically no damage and is then immediately overcome. As said by the wiki "The power and force behind the sharp blade composed of Reishi are considerable, and Ichigo only deflected and shattered them through sheer force of will."
Cool thing about this fight was that both ichigo and Grimmjow had each other beat in one form or Another. Grimmjow was agile and had faster attacks. Meanwhile Ichigo from the moment he put on the mask was clearly physically stronger and could take more hits. However I feel that had Orihime not been there ichigo would have had an easier time defeating Grimmjow most of his exhaustion came from tanking devastating attacks point blank that would have never touched him otherwise.
I always found this to be (pre-Dangai form) Ichigo's finest and most iconic battle and most victorious moment. The only fights that compare with it in impact are his fight against Byakuya and the battle against Ulquiorra, and in both of those fights he only won/survived through the direct intercession of his Hollow side. But here, finally, against one of his most powerful and determined opponents, Ichigo defeats him with his own strength, without losing control or becoming something else.
I always thought the mask shift to a crown seriously fit with his Res being called Panthera or Panther King. All in all it's definitely my favorite high energy fight in the series. Ulquiorra is my favorite overall fight but it is a very different type of fight.
I hope you enjoyed the first Bleach Battle Analysis of the year! What's your favourite moment from this fight? How does this battle rank for you among Ichigo's other fights? Let me know in the comments!

Man this fight is probably the best in the show. No one seemed too powerful at any point, none of the power ups are wasted or turn the tide too much. The stakes feel high and the emotions fit too. I prefer this way more than ichigo vs ulquiorra for way too many reasons
My favorite thing about this fight is that it's a fight with hardly any words spoken. Most of the duration, it's a fight of just blows.
Once Grimmjow fired the Gran Rey Cero and Ichigo tanked that joint with his mask, that fight became a rollercoaster of a battle
Noting but facts
Yes, I liked it because it made you feel like it was an actual fight to the death and both of them where full strength when fighting as well. Plus it wasn’t no major ass pull at all.
Been waiting for this video for a while
Definitely worth the wait
Great analysis
Great start to 2022
Ichigo after Orihime called out to him
"Sorry dude...the wife says I gotta go home"
😂
Basically. Ichigo knew he couldn't lose in front of his woman.
On god most disrespectful L Ichigo ever handed out 😭
@@44harbordale44 what do you mean?
Well at least grimmjow didn't lose after that immediately. He let em know that shit wasn't rapped up and he could still throw hands
My favorite bleach fight and for one of my favorite characters, Grimmjow. I love his character, especially as his character develops after this fight
Same
One of my favorite fights! You gotta do the next fight between Kenny and Notirra!
Dude you are literally the only person I listen to that talks about bleach
your such a good youruber and I dont know how you dont have 1 mill yet
One of my favorite fights in bleach. When ichigo caught grimjow’s claw right without looking I understood why this fight was legendary.
Ahh my favorite fight finally getting recognition on the channel. When's the grimmjow character analysis tho
Exactly my thoughts! Nice analysis. One of my favorite fights in the series.
Yea my favorite anime fights are the ones where characters are very back and forth I feel it's more entertaining that way.
While I do agree with you,You can't downplay Ichigo vs Ulquiorra's brilliance
@@tickletipsoniv7018 excluding ulquiorra actual death , I don’t see what’s brilliant about it.
@@bqw2094 seeing the vasto lorde? Lanza de relámpago? Etc
Man as soon as I watched your video I just had to go and see this fight again. What a great battle.
Thé choreography was insane 💪💥💥💣
Everyone thumbs up for MrTommo🔝
My fav youtube channel^^ ichigo vs grimmjow is one of the best fights in the series 🔥
I love Grimmjow's released form. It's honestly my favorite, he's so sleek and unique. It makes sense considering his past and fighting style.
i love how in this battle in some way grimmjow teaches ichigo some things about his inner hollow and somehow understanding himself at the end of the fight, even in ichigo vs yuha ichigo using gran rey cero may be somehow because of grimmjow
What a damn coincidence, I watched the entire fight yesterday. Wooooooooo! Yeah baby!.
I have no idea how many times I watched this fight. downright my favorite
One of my favorite battles in the series
Grimjow is my fav esparda. And this fight is one of the best. I really enjoy this fight
Same. In fact he's my favorite character in general
13:24 Cien Granz, a clone of Szayelaporro also uses Gran Rey Cero multiple times in the Spirits Are Forever With You light novel iirc.
My favorite fight in the anime 🏆
I always felt Grimmjows resurrection should have had him with a vicious skeletal grinning feline mask in the style of the masks scorpion / subzero wear, possibly able to open for screams / possibly gran ray ceros
He would have looked like halibel lol
yes!! a mr tommo video !!!~
Great video man! This is one of my favorite fights in the series. Looking forward to the next fight analysis.
This fight is my favorite. The anime absolutely nailed this fight.
I was disappointed grimmjow didn’t get much shine In the final arc was hoping that he would have segunda eptapa
I loved the two moments Orhime see ichigo hollowfied and gets soo terrified.
Always loved this fight. My favorite of the Espada fights Ichigo has, so much build up.
I love the way the anime did that moment with Ichigo and Orihime staring at one another. Sora's hollow mask flashes on Ichigo's and it's such a horrifying sight, one of the few times the anime expressed horror very well.
Amazing video 🔥
I like to think that during his fight with Grimjow Ichigo started relying more on more on his killer instinct thanks to the influence of the hollow self and it wasn't until Ichigo told him not to die that he regained his sense of self and was able to concentrate his spirit energy more so he could take out Grimjow finally and even combine some of his hollow and shinigami powers together without realising.
I love your videos!
Finally, someone mentions how poor of a showing Grimmjo's ultimate move, Desgarrón was.
This is the fight got me into Bleach, always thought this was a fight of equals.
lets go
yes tom yes. thank you again
I personally hate the outfit. It's just a jumpsuit with cat claws and legs. It feels to plain. I get that's part of the appeal but still.
2022 is kicking off right!
I love the relationship between Ichigo and Grimmjow. I really think that they could be best friends in another life.
Not gonna happen and never will.
Ichigo doesn’t have to befriend every enemy. Shits boring
Maybe a goku and vegeta type situation
@@smcrevival1467 It would be cool if Grimmjow was like Ichigo's Vegeta
I like the way the gran rey cero looks in the anime, but I also agree it looks a bit weird and "not quite right"
I think this is intentional, it's mentioned that the gran rey cero warps space and I think it sort of jumping around in the anime and looking funky is supposed to be a visualization of space being distorted and thus the attack being very distorted as well
I would've loved it Ichigo would've started fighting like Hollow Ichigo after he learns to accept his hollow side in the tybw.
Love this fight
It’s my second favorite resurrections 🥰😍😍😍 after number ALL of number 4
lets gooooooo!
Ulquiorra made Ichigo's powers grow but Grimmjow made Ichigo's intelligence about fighting Arrancar grow tbh.
Grimmjow’s personality really made me want to see him fight Kenpachi
Although now I worry Kenpachi would just squish him like a bug now that he has his bankai
For me, Ulquiorra is cool but I've never felt it to be an ichigo fight. Also, I prefer even fielded fights then one sided beat downs.
grimmjow's ressureccion "both cool and uncool" honestly couldn't be more true
Something that you didn't talk about, I feel like when Ichigo is naming who he's going to defeat and who he's going to save is sort of a callback to when Urahara taught him about resolve before going to Soul Society.
Hello
Happy New Year 🎆🎊
Feliz Año Nuevo 🎊🎆
What do you Think about Aizen vs Iwatch final battle?
29:12 Nnoitra was a scary ass dude before his fight with Kenpachi. Santa Teresa just doesn't look like something you could come back from.
I think at this point you the only one that can properly interpret kubos subtexts
Panthera is like grimmjow going super sayian 3
I think it would be interesting to talk about how strong is Vasto Lorde Ichigo. How he would fair against other espadas, captains, etc
I will be a patron CAPTAIN one day💪🏾
23:30 “Mommy said that the party is over”
I love everything in this fight except the end, how Ichigo defeated Grimmjow was kinda uninspired.
It's a shame we never got more Vizard vs Arrancar one on one slug outs like this, it's was pretty brutal.
The best part about it was all the Grimmjow/Hollow backstory, I thought that was brilliant worldbuilding
It had that naturalistic darwinian feel to it.
Pros
* Grimmjow's first time Resurrección
* Grimmjow's techniques (About 2 unique to him and 3 if you count Gran Rey Cero)
* The anime adaptation of this fight, you can tremendously enjoy it as a super fun, high-impact slugfest.
Cons
* Why Ichigo can wear his hollow mask for more than 11 seconds is not explained.
* How Ichigo is all of a sudden equal with Grimmjow in his base when he needed the hollow mask in the first place to keep up with him.
* Gran Rey Cero was never used again
*Grimmjow's ultimate technique was basically a wet fart that does basically no damage and is then immediately overcome. As said by the wiki "The power and force behind the sharp blade composed of Reishi are considerable, and Ichigo only deflected and shattered them through sheer force of will."
The best scrap in bleach! Grimmjow is a great character, Orihime plays her role perfectly, and we have Ichigo at his best.
i think part of this fight is also that ichigo had been humiliated multiple times and this is the decider
