Halibel and grimjow chose to retrieve power by a different way. Grimjow absorbed his friends that chose to be apart of him and give him power. He didn't force them. He was chosen because he had the power and they would live through him.
Grimmjow made a statement that we all overlooked. He told Ulquiorra that he was afraid of him. I think he was too. Ulquiorra was stronger than Grimmjow and knew it, but I also think he saw the potential in Grimmjow that could eventually rival his at some point. He definitely is one of the best characters.

Fun fact. Grimmjow being such a well fleshed out character and the performance from the VA inspired Gege Akutami to create Sukuna from JJK. When they got offered to have it adapted into an anime one of the dealbreakers was that Jun’ichi Suwabe has to be the VA for Sukuna.

Probably my favourite character of Bleach. Grimmjow and Ulquirra for me truly was the peak of Bleach for me. Everything after that I honestly wasn't nearly as intrigued by.

Kubo was sick and tired. He stopped being the artist and just took the storyboard. Think about it, the manga itself went down into a spiral of failure. First we have the repetition of Protagonist Kids invading somewhere strange and fighting a Hierarchy to save their friends (Soul Society Arc), then we have... The same thing? (Hueco Mundo Arc). Then we have the hated (but I kinda liked it) Fullbringer Arc which kinda resembles the same premise as I said before, except the Hierarchy isn't well structured. And finally we have... The first Arc again? (Quincy Arc). This repetition and how bad the art got with empty backgrounds, no time to develop the Quincy Enemies (plus a ton of them which we don't care even a bit) and so many plot holes (in example: Why Ichigo and his father has similar Shinigami Powers? What about the Back The Pendulum Arc, why did it stop?) and we have that half-baked manga Bleach turned to be. I don't blame the fans, quite the Opposite. Kubo was tired and sick of his work and his staff. I'd say I think he's the responsible but if the Author isn't, who is? The magazine and staff who supported him? Hell, It's a hard question to answer.
Mene Lutz well I have my problems with this series but that was never one of them, unlike in Naruto where he’s constantly training and in Fairy Tail where they get stronger based on the bonds🙄 in bleach Ichigo gets stronger because of a vasto lorde being sealed inside his mother who is a Quincy and his father who is a soul reaper and having his own powers merged with it, making him what he is now through constant trails and tribulations. Just saying if your going to pick apart the series do it for the right reasons not for something that is fully explained.
There was something about Ulquiorra and Grimmjow that made them so much more badass compared to the other espadas. I guess it was because their fights had such good animation compared to the other ones.
Their character designs are dope and they were always being highlighted during the Arrancar arc. Hallibel had potential to be perceived as just as dope as those two but she barely had any screentime and her zanpakuto release was kinda meh.
The honest answer is grimmjow and ulquiorra was were made with the express intention of being rivals to our protaganist and therefore have far cooler designs more screen time and coolee fights.
Love it how all arrancars that wear robes which cover a large portion of their body always have a circular hole in the center of their robes to reveal the hole in their chest. But Orihime is a soul reaper with no chest hole, so the arrancar tailors has to put the hole somewhere else…

Guys, Grimmjow is one of few arrancar who is STILL ALIVE. In last arc ( which was not animated) he, Harribel and her Fraccion, Nelliel and her Fraccion reappeared, and also Mayuri found a way to "revive" dead arrancar. You will see '"revived" Dordoni,Charlotte, Cirucci and Luppi, but there could be anyone arrancar who died (this crazy clown can take even the little pieces of dead arrancars and can search them to infinity, so for exception to Baraggan who aged into nothing, every deceaced arrancar can be resurrected ). Also Rudobon, Gantenbainne and most of Szayelapollo's Fraccion are still alive.

I loved the way that Ichigo changed in demeanor here, the way he generally changed his character when he got to understand his opponent better. The more he fought someone, the better he started to understand them. Like here, just after he got healed, he became dead serious to give Grimmjow the fight he wanted. Not kill him, but still try and give him an all out fight. He didn't want to fight anyone for real before he had to fight this opponent, he only did it out of necessity, but he understood then that Grimmjow was basically just pure killing instinct, a natural predator, and the only way he could have gotten anything through to him, would have been if he gave him what he wanted first. A match to establish who was the alpha male. Who should lead and who should follow. I always had the impression from the manga that Grimmjow would have become a strong ally to Ichigo, but unfortunately that aspect wasn't developed much in the manga, only showing that Grimmjow was now protecting Orihime and helping her and Urahara in Hueco Mundo. I guess because the author couldn't continue the project...

Fun fact: In the italian version of the anime, Grimmjow is voiced by Gianluca Iacono, the legendary italian voice actor of Vegeta in the Dragon Ball series.
Notice how ichigo desire to fight or "instincts" resembled his hollow side. I am now realizing how things build up to his hollification against ulqurioa. Ichigo was relying more and more on his hollow powers to win fights rather than his Quincy side. Eventually hollow took over power. I really wished Kubo would had done better job at showing the audience this.

Guys, Grimmjow is one of few arrancar who is STILL ALIVE. In last arc ( which was not animated) he, Harribel and her Fraccion, Nelliel and her Fraccion reappeared, and also Mayuri found a way to "revive" dead arrancar. You will see '"revived" Dordoni,Charlotte, Cirucci and Luppi, but there could be anyone arrancar who died (this crazy clown can take even the little pieces of dead arrancars and can search them to infinity, so for exception to Baraggan who aged into nothing, every deceaced arrancar can be resurrected ). Also Rudobon, Gantenbainne and most of Szayelapollo's Fraccion are still alive.

I loved the way that Ichigo changed in demeanor here, the way he generally changed his character when he got to understand his opponent better. The more he fought someone, the better he started to understand them. Like here, just after he got healed, he became dead serious to give Grimmjow the fight he wanted. Not kill him, but still try and give him an all out fight. He didn't want to fight anyone for real before he had to fight this opponent, he only did it out of necessity, but he understood then that Grimmjow was basically just pure killing instinct, a natural predator, and the only way he could have gotten anything through to him, would have been if he gave him what he wanted first. A match to establish who was the alpha male. Who should lead and who should follow. I always had the impression from the manga that Grimmjow would have become a strong ally to Ichigo, but unfortunately that aspect wasn't developed much in the manga, only showing that Grimmjow was now protecting Orihime and helping her and Urahara in Hueco Mundo. I guess because the author couldn't continue the project...

Notice how ichigo desire to fight or "instincts" resembled his hollow side. I am now realizing how things build up to his hollification against ulqurioa. Ichigo was relying more and more on his hollow powers to win fights rather than his Quincy side. Eventually hollow took over power. I really wished Kubo would had done better job at showing the audience this.
