In considering the actual effect of the bug bite tool, and The discussion of the placebo effect, they didn't really talk about how much the placebo effect seemed to account for what was seen. In talking about mechanisms of operation, it seems to me plausible that the local disruption that the vacuum state imposes on the tissue could facilitate more effective immune response, even if it doesn't remove the saliva. And promoting a more effective immune response might assist removal of the saliva already distributed in the bloodstream as well.
I think you missed something important regarding Bug Bite Thing. It may be working, but not by sucking out the saliva. Sucking on the skin is doing other things, pulling in blood and lymph locally. Could that be, for example, helping to flush out the saliva so it doesn't sit in one place so long? Or have another mechanical effect on the skin? I don't think this is placibo, I believe you. I am not a scientist, but I am an engineer, what what it's worth.
But you have two of them. And the 'ceps' in triceps are in fact just anchorage points, not separate organs or some symmetrical parts. Three valves with trilateral symmetry each feels like much more appropriate answer to the questions
Hey y'all! New listener here for two weeks. Love the show! But god, that girl who talks about mosquitos... I, I , I and I is all she says. Really annoying, not professional on top she has à really obnoxious tone with a low level of language.
Uh! I used to love this show. I’ve tried and tried, but Lulu’s voice grates on me. Listened years before she came along; I guess I will listen again when she’s gone.
As someone who has experienced a similar thing, thank you for the mosquito story. I felt seen
17:08 lotion song is amazing
The doc making a music joke 🥁 badum stisss! … it wouldn’t be a waltz 😂

TRICEPS!?!? Obviously the most popular trio in the body…how did they not notice this? I was shouting at my phone the whole story lol
But every body has two sets of triceps
Super interesting podcast.
What about the 3 lobes of the right lung?
My thoughts too! Maybe because each lobe isn't the exact same...
And the LIVER has three lobes too...
In Gastrulation, a fertilized egg will split into three (3) sections, the mesoderm, the ectoderm, and the endoderm.
I'm excited because I thought of it! I remembered it from my paramedic training! Not as dumb as I look. 😅😅
Sorry you lost the magic of your plunger Becca but thank you for the story it (and the whole show) was great!

There are 3 knuckles on each finger an 3 inside wrinkles on each finger
Two things: Eat more garlic. Number two , rub Bounce sheets on you and your doorways. Plus, rosemary, thyme, lavender and peppermint.
The liver actually has exactly THR3 lobes!
i don't know if anyone will see this but please post the lotion song as a separate video
First! 🎉
17:10 lotion song
I LOVED the song of lotion 😂 but the mosquito history really through off the vibes 😕
Threw
We all have 3 respiratory orifices 😮 2 nostrils and a mouth
Man, the mosquito segment makes me doubt the journalistic capabilities of the girl that was discussing "The Bug Thing".
Triceps?
Thats what im saying!

I just hope Robert Krulwich and Jad come back to this show. The other hosts are too dramatic and childish.
