What makes a game interesting is the possibility of loosing, with out that why play if you can not loose.

    I loved this!
I use to listen to radio lab a lot as a teenager (2010’s). Thank y’all for still making it! 🖤

Death is not the end. It's graduation. We live and learn. This lesson ends so that a new one can begin. We return to the place or the source from which we came before we were born. To prepare for our next lesson. It's an on going cycle. Life is truly a journey not a destination.

Have to disrespectfully disagree with you. The bible tells us that Hebrews 9:27-28 "27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him."

Death is an end to an experience. If people could live forever a person could be tortured forever too. That wouldn't be nice.

On the jellyfish idea, imagine replacing your cells one by one instead of all at once (ship of Theseus style) would be a nice way to still be “you” but constantly regenerated. I can imagine neurons reverting back to stem cells then learning their previous function just due to being in the same environment they were before.. though if you never recalled a particular memory during this process it might be lost! So you get a rolling memory in a way.
Also other ways to cheat death could be to slowly replace your brain with silicon and eventually live in a fully simulated world.
I think there are many other possibilities to explore, it’s fun to think about… don’t give up!

I find the thesis stated near the end (that death is necessary for change) is characterized by a completely lack of imagination, sure it was needed for evolution to exist, but seeing it just can't stand the lack of creativity of believing that its the only way. And sure, the sun will die and the earth will be eaten, but can you imagine how awesome those last few seconds could be?

I think we should focus more on the quality of the life we live rather than the length. I mean there have been some truly horrible people in the past that affected hundreds of thousands of people in a horrendous manner and the only reprieve that the masses got from them was that that person died. Think Stalin, hitler, zhadong. Imagine if those people had lived another 50yrs or 250yrs. I don’t believe there’s a reason for us to live these extremely long lives and for the most part there’s more reason for us not too. A large part of the human story has been pretty terrible.

So the obnoxious reactionary tech bros who have all our money will get to be horrible for centuries? They're already bored and angry. Gonna be great.

DO you guys know how you ruined my favorite radio program. At least you have listened to the previous podcast "Mortality" and incorporated part of it before you broadcast this.
Jad created this at the same time ruined it by handing it over to you.
