I recorded this about 6 hours before I heard about Dickey Betts passing away, so no mention of him here. I'm still driving north, but I should be home later today. Thanks for riding along with me. ❤
Safe travels! Heart breaking about Dickey Betts, thoughts and prayers and good vibes to his family and friends
Thanx for sharing this.
Hey, Otis.
My girlfriend and I are planning on seeing you next Saturday in Seymour.
Could you tell me what time and which venue you will be playing?
Thanks in advance.
We're still in mourning here in Sarasota Otis😢 I would have bought you a coffee ☕ on the way through if I would have known....safe travels man !
Otis my friend- This is one of the absolute most enjoyable videos you’ve put up in a while. Please do more of the videos where you’re freewheeling with us while you’re behind the wheel. Always enjoy the interviews but these chats are sho’nuff something extra-special. Thanks, man. Discovering this channel a couple of years back was one of my most cherished finds. You’re fans of the same artists I’m a fan of. You’re super knowledgeable and cool & my wife & I both look forward to your videos. Please keep ‘em coming!
I have played a lot of Music with Jim and Jerry Trap , Guthrie's Uncles and I'm a handful of years older than Guthrie and His Uncles were so excited and proud of Guthries rise from AL to Nashville
I love spending my Saturdays with a cup of coffee listening to Otis and his stories
Just passed 125. In Search Of was my first thought when you mentioned Coral Castle and I wasn't expecting you to mention it, so that was a nice surprise. I do miss the less groady era of weird media. I spent a lot of nights listening to Art Bell and actually got into a lot of artists because of his bumper music. Thanks for the ride.
Have a great day. Love from mile marker 125 😊
Otis….safe travels…if you make it to mile marker 125 on I-40 stop in to the Mellow Mushroom for a slice.
Mike Bubb and Chuck Meade are two of the best storytellers that yo have graciously shared with us. Thank you Otis. Mikes impersonation of Bill Monroe is Priceless.😂😂😂
Speaking of The Bottle Rockets, when I saw your thumbnail, I immediately thought of the cover to their Blue Sky album. Was listening to you during my trip home from work, was like having a passenger telling great stories on a long road trip. Made it to mile marker 125 with ya!
Mile Marker 125
I've never been to Florida
Or to an Otis Gibbs Show
Next time you play Memphis, I hope to be there.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride. All the way to mile 125
Mile Marker 125: Diggin' the palm trees and Guthrie Trapp. Safe travels. I hope you find some better coffee. Cheers! Much Love, Otis.
I’m a sucker for those cats. They live around the side of the building I work at.
Brother Otis…the Rambling Man…. Loved your chat.
“Ol’ Scooter” in East Texas
Guthrie talked about that gig a few days ago. Said basically the same thing, just badassery. Safe travels to you!
I really enjoy your talks! Thank you for feeding the stray and feral cats. It was funny to hear that you fed the chickens with the cat food that you bought.
Forgot to mention mile marker 125.
In Search of was great, my sister and I never missed an episode!
Mile marker 125 that Just happens to be my favorite mile marker
Really enjoy Guthrie’s channel. A really great teacher, too.
I waited too late and the Shawn Camp show was sold out in Leiper's Fork. Huge fan of Shawn, Guthrie and you! I knew I missed a great event. Maybe next time somewhere in Nashville area
Much love to you Otis. Yes, palm trees & mile marker 125. I hope your trip all the way home was smooth & uneventful. Love having coffee with you & listening to every story every Saturday or whenever you choose to share. 🩷 Love that you care for the needy animals.
Hell yeah!! I respect that you hate and hide your corporate coffee I only get it when I have to myself
I tried to get tickets for that Shawn Camp show in Leiper's Fork. It was sold out, but I'll make the next one! Huge Shawn Camp fan. Watch everything Guthrie does. And, what a bonus it would have been to see you there, too. Maybe next time somewhere in Nashville
Thanks Otis. Please keep throwing the bottles! We keep on finding them.
When I went to Key West years ago, we flew into Miami and drove down. It is a beautiful drive. I believe on the way back but one of the ways regardless, we drove at night. I highly recommend driving through the Keys at night. The stars shine clear with a luminous reflection off the water that is other worldly. Memories betray me but it is like Van Gogh's Starry Night in my mind.
MM 125. Not only did I make it to the end. But I've made it to the end of every single video on the channel. I been watching from the very start of the channel.
Safe travels Otis
"Go on vacation and leave on probation!" Heard in the Key West city hall I think. Somewhere near there. Glad you had a great time. Glad you didn't think 125 was the speed limit!
You're a good man Otis Gibbs. Taking the time to feed feral cats on the road verifies what I thought about you. We've got 3 rescues in the house and a little 3 generation 5 cat family in the yard. My wife, who you met on Wed.night, made me build them a house with heating pads for the frigid Miami winters. When it drops into the iguanas falling from the trees temps she's outside firing up the propane heater.
Marker 125, and Man! That FLEW by! Can't say how wonderful your videos are, Otis. Just not enough words. I'm now going to go listen to Jerry Jeff Walker, for the first time. And it might look like it, but you're not alone. Thanks for everything!
Thank you Otis!
Billy Idol is obsessed with Coral Castle. My sister worked with him and when she brought it up, it was off to the races... I took her there years ago and she was completely creeped out by it.
Tile guy here! Stayed all the way to mm 125! Love the stories Otis. Stay strong brother!
Thank You Otis, who knows I might get to thank you one day in person, be careful I'm you in your future travels.
Ottis , if you're ever in S.Ontario Canada and need a friend, that you haven't met yet, You've got one here. You're videos have helped me through a lot
Hey Otis! Outside doing yard work and cleaning the pool while listening to you! Thanks for the extra long video. It was great. I’ll look up that mile marker when I get done outside. 👍🏼
Mile Marker 125 . . Made to the end Otis. Kyle from AZ🌵
I've made that drive, godspeed man. Its a long ride- peace and love and good happiness stuff, kind sir.
Great to get the mile marker 125 update. Always good to hear Jerry Jeff Walker, six toe cats and chickens in one report. Thanks for doing what you do Otis.
This is simply great. Keep doing what you do and keep doing what you want to do and keep doing what you can do. We just love it regardless.
Gad to be with you for the ride Otis! Thanks for the stories buddy, you made my day. Cheers! MM 125!
Much love 💕 Otis🫶🏼from Port Charlotte, Florida 🐈🐈🫵🏼😎ur awesome Bro
Mile Marker 125 baby ! LOL I watched this whole thing mostly because I live in Ft. Lauderdale and have friends that live in Key Largo.. I've been going down to the keys from Key Largo all the way to Key West for 35 yrs. It just is a magical place. Im glad you had a good time down there brother. Now back to your channel. LOL I really enjoy what you put up here and especially enjoy the people you have tell their amazing stories on who they toured with or ran with back in the day . Keep up the good work Otis! And I'm sorry you couldn't hit the Coral Castle again.. It is F ing cool ! Safe trip back ..
Yes, love watching Guthrie….and, of course, you!!
Made it to mile 125 with ya. Getting up and listening to your chats with your cup of coffee has become my Saturday morning routine, so thanks for being part of my life in that simple way.
Todd Snyder has some great Jerry Jeff stories, but you probably know that already. Safe travels, Otis.
Mile marker 125 ... You are my Saturday man...
MILE MARKER 125. THANKS FOR EVERTHING BROTHER.
Thanks for identifying all the players at Liepers Fork. Nice to take a short drive with you today! Safe travels always! Mile marker 125.
MM 125. Love hearing you chat on Otis. Be careful on the rest of your way home in Indy. Cheers from Lafayette, LA
Made it to MM 125. I enjoy your videos and listening to your stories. I don't remember how I stumbled upon your stuff, but I am glad I did. I haven't even had a chance to check out your music yet, I need to get going on that. It is just peaceful to sit back an listen. Thanks for taking us on the ride.
All the way to 125...you turning us on to Tom Bukovak led us to Guthrie ,thanks for that for real.Always enjoy all the folks you talk to, and Guthrie's a treasure like Tom and Kenny and Mike.
Thanks Otis!
Enjoyed taking a bit of a road trip with you Otis. I'm looking to buy a house at the moment and tomorrow I'm inspecting one that has three palm trees in the yard! If it has chickens I'm buying it!
loved your tales- could be called Overseas Highway Tales by Otis Gibbs.. I was working on a year long total restoration of one of the Old Town's primo Conch Houses in Key West. I watched during that year in the late 70s an old house change hands 3 times going fromfrom $28,000.00 to $95,000 Which was a lotta money back thn.. The houses are about now about 40 times more expensive from the early 70s. Wish I couldda been there to see you.
Thanks Otis
Love that podcast about traveling with Bill Monroe “Thanks for Giving a Damn” podcast is a must listen. Have listened to the entire catalog and none of them disappoint. Safe travels my friend.
Thanks Otis, I've never been down south of Miami, south of mile marker 125 where the bench mark survey monuments are 5.5 feet above sea level. Hemingway was a complex cat, definitely left brainer. Thanks brother, you're appreciated.
Nice riding along with you Otis. Made it to mm125 and could have stayed longer. It’s always like listening to an old friend. Safe travels!
Tanks❤
It was great hitching a ride with you Otis, take care brother.
Hey Otis. You are appreciated . The thumbs up and occasional comment are pretty much the way i can say that. I'm seein palm trees as well but with some different scenery around em. Commenting from the hi desert bear Joshua Tree Cali. Thanks for doin what ya do. Peace
The palm trees at mile marker 125 are beautiful ! I love your stories and the interviews. I drive a great big dump truck at a gravel pit. And I spend the day driving back and forth listening to music or your videos and singing way out of key. Lol, whatever it takes, right ? Thanks again, Otis. Keep em coming. "The audience is listening"
125 MM. Live long and prosper
coffee tea mate....die hard thanks brother otis much love - stephen jules otis career rubin
Yo buddy keep your eyes on the road repeat as I did live at the Philmour. East and of course Ramblin man would be appropriate and appreciated
Thought you were going to slip in Buffett’s “Why Don’t We Get Drunk” when you were thanking us for watching at the end…”I really do appreciate, the fact you’re here…brought a grin to my face…
We appreciate you Otis MM125 safe travels
Made it to mile marker 125 with you love your page and all that you are doing
We spend a good deal of time in FL, and I've always wanted to go to Key West, but having made it to MM125 with you I'm not sure I could do the drive, and we drive down from NJ. Thanks for sharing the ride.
I would agree that you have super nice fans. I remember having a great conversation with a few fellow fans while waiting in line to meet you. It seems most of us found your music through the YT page. 125!
I do watch Guthrie Otis, enjoyed the ride today. Have a safe trip....

Happy 4/20
Road tripping with OG! (MM125) Another roadside attraction. You a Tom Robbins Fan Otis? When we were growing up in a small rural town in the early 70s my parents got each of us kids a baby chick for Easter, four in total. We started out feeding them chicken food, but they kept eating the dog food. So, we just started putting dog food in a paper bag, whacking it with a hammer and feeding them that, they got huge. I still remember my brothers' sneaking cigarettes in the back yard one day, and one of the chickens came up to my brother Sean, and he jokingly turn the cigarette filter first to the chicken, the chicken grabbed it in his beak and took off running. Here is this huge chicken running around our big back yard with a cigarette hanging from its beak, and my brothers running after it, trying to catch it before my parents saw. They all turned out to be huge guard dog roosters that my dad gave to a buddy of his who had a big piece of land. I can see them guarding his property, pack of Lucky Strikes rolled up in their wing feathers?! Talking about being an outlaw my same brother went to jail for not paying a ticket he got at the local lake for swimming in a non-designated area. It was the Late 70s, he had long hair. a beard, and his ear pierced. He had been jumping out of a tree into the lake when a sheriff came up in a boat and said, boy get out of that tree, so he cannon balled into the lake, the redneck cop did not like it, so he gave him a ticket that he never paid, so they came to our house and arrested him. I'm sure most of the neighbors didn't believe why he was arrested. I can see him in jail, people saying what they were in for, and him saying, "swimming in a non-designated area"! Damn, sometimes I miss that old small town, cause it ain't small anymore. Drive carefully my brother and keep spreading that Soulshine! Have a great weekend!
Ed knew the secrets of the pyramids✊🏼 great video Otis ..
TY for the tip on GT channel. I will certainly check it out ❤
Hey Otis, It's always worth it to reach mile marker 125. I appreciate your stories. I hope to be one who crosses paths with you. Hang loose. Later, Dave!
Mile marker 125 by the palm tree !
Palm trees, no no MM 125. Really enjoy your channel as well as your music. It was the very last drop of coffee, the last speck that you can't get out of the cup and the bouncing of the tour bus due air ride suspension. Wonder if that happened at MM 125.
For any of you that haven't listened to Otis' podcast THANKS FOR GIVING A DAMN, you are missing out and you need to go listen !!
Otis, it would be great if you could get all those old podcasts uploaded to the channel, I realize that it would be a tremendous amount of work.
Found you with the Jerry Jeff video as well. Started listening to and purchasing music because of you. (Kenny Vaughan, etc.) I appreciate what you do.
And yes, I made it to mile marker 125.
Omg that's John Prine. That's the Proper Reaction 🤙. That's what God said when John showed up in heaven with the vodka and ginger ale and that 9 mile cigarette
Hanoi Rocks,
Mike Monroe. I know what you’re talking about Otis. (R.I.P. Razzle)
The former Puckett's in Leipers Fork is must-see for any visit to the Nashville area. Good food too! Try their Chess Pie. Lot's of interesting places to explore nearby. David Arms and the Copper Fox for instance. Take your time to soak up some of the best in Tennessee.
Love the Channel, THe videos and talks are great. side note as a player also I recently wrote one of my favorite songs I’ve written based off a comment you made in one of these videos. You made a comment about a Joker in Every Bottle and just like that there was a song. So thanks for your time for sure. Be well and travel safe.
I use to fly fish for tarpon at night at Bahia Honda bridge. The sky is amazing. I love this area-hope we don’t destroy it
good morning to you Otis I've been watching for a long time, hope you make it to the pacific north west someday would love to catch your show. You are down where JJW first introduced Jimmy Buffett to the Key West Life and that worked out ok. mile marker 125!
I love Palm Trees and the Keys!
Safe travels, made it to mile marker 125 🤠
Mile marker 125 and a bag of cat food... 🙀😉
Safe travel Otis. Hope you can stop at the Mile Maker 125 tavern and hear the Outlaw Chicken Feeders play their new song "Corporate Clown Coffee".
Yes... Polydactyl Cats. MM125.... I love the mountains so I'll probably never make it there : D
My introduction to Guthrie Trapp.. this band I’m playing with. The guitar player.. we had to learn Commodity, play it out.. good song.

!~ lol.... we appreciate you baclk mucho brother otis - SJOCR
Not coming back to Tennessee until the governor fixes the roads instead of pissing away tax dollars on hundreds of million dollar digital message boards telling everybody that he knows the roads are garbage but bought these signs instead of paying for maintenance.
@otisgibbs a couple of places where you might have played here in Miami could have been Churchill's Hideaway, or maybe the the Luna Star Cafe? Love your channel.
Made It Mile Marker 125, But Did Not Make it to Your Two Shows in Key West Otis, I Apologize and living in Fort Lauderdale was 187 miles south of my Condo! I’m starting my Vacation today and Thursday Evening after driving 991 miles will be seeing Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder in Inez, Kentucky! Keep Pushin On!
I sent my buddy John to see you in KW. He's been down there for 25 years and is now one of your newest fans. He said Sputnik Monroe was a hit! Are you gonna be able to catch John R. Miller at HI-FI? It'd be cool to hear you talk to him.
Hope you got to eat at the Square Grouper in Summerland key-great place
Drive safe!
I made that drive years back. Watching you do this reminds me of the raccoon incident. The car I rented had a wicked pull to one side and it was hard to keep the thing driving straight. A huge raccoon came out of the grass on my right and I had no time to react and ran him over. I carried his carcass back to the grass, got in the car, and it drove pin straight. He lost his life, but re aligned my rental.
