Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith - It has been three years since the Clone Wars began. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) rescue Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) from General Grievous, the commander of the droid armies, but Grievous escapes. Suspicions are raised within the Jedi Council concerning Chancellor Palpatine, with whom Anakin has formed a bond. Asked to spy on the chancellor, and full of bitterness toward the Jedi Council, Anakin embraces the Dark Side.

Also note that so long as Aniken left the light to join the dark, and if the rest of the Jedi had been eradicated, the dark side was basically up two while the light had zero. The force balanced that out by granting Padme twins, two for the light. The concept of balance can be seen throughout the whole series where the emperors existence justified the force manifesting and spitting out someone just as powerful in Aniken.

The reason for his turn starts in Episode I. And they do a superb job of showing why he turns to the dark side. The Clone Wars is redundant in terms of what you mentioned, the only thing it added was how they treated Ahsoka, which is a nice addition to his fall but not necessary. We see plenty why he distrusts the Jedi in the prequels, you’re really hyperbolizing the “depth” clone wars added. Well obviously there’s more foreshadowing, it’s a 7 season show vs. 3 movies, the only pain Anakin goes through in clone wars is losing Ahsoka, and then she’s brought right back in Season 7 to set up Rebels. In the prequels, Anakin goes through much more pain. TCW is an okay addition, but it’s not necessary at all, the only thing it truly adds is humanizing the clones.

To clarify, the whole "bring balance to the force" did not mean to equalize the dark side and light side. The prophecy was to bring balance to the force by destroying the sith, which are an abomination of the force. Anakin's love for his son destroyed Darth Vader, and then he proceeded to destroy the Emperor to save his son's life. He fulfilled the prophecy and was the chosen one.

Anakin was much stronger with the force and in combat but he could be manipulated very easily. He was a slave all his life and the chancellor was like a mentor and father like figure ever since he got to the Jedi temple. Then obviously Anakin knowing what his last dream led to he had the one about Padme. He was vulnerable and would do anything to save her so the Emperor took advantage of him and his weakness, which was Padme. It's crazy what Anakin could of become Lucas said his full potential (without losing all his limbs and all that) he would of been twice the power of the Emperor and quite clearly the most powerful force user ever. At 12 he made a battle droid with the height, body shape, fighting style and lightsaber of Darth Maul and beat it multiple times without losing. Like Palpatine said in this one "they know you're power will be too strong to control" and in this he said also to Yoda that Anakin will be more powerful than both of them. Anakin's potential was off the charts.

It’s funny how, for people watching the films for the first time now, Palpatine’s identity is something to wonder about and figure out. It wasn’t really like that originally. Anyone who followed _Star Wars_ at all originally knew perfectly well that Palpatine was Sidious. There was simply no mystery around it. In the original merchandising, magazine articles, and literature surrounding the original trilogy, though not in the films themselves, the Emperor was referred to as Emperor Palpatine. So, when the prequels came out many years later, and there was talk of a Senator Palpatine in _Episode I,_ played by the same actor who had played the Emperor no less, there was no question for fans who that was. It was only a question for newbies.

Obi-wan was never able to be the father figure that Anakin needed thus Palpatine filled that role, grooming Anakin over time to be his ultimate apprentice. Darth Maul & Count Dooku were only placeholders for Anakin to take over. Qui-gon would never have let that happen had he been alive.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the trap that The Emperor pulled on Vader with his life suit. The suit was meant not to be perfect, that Vader would always be in pain inside the suit. In some ways the suit even causing pain. Vader would always be using smalls bits of the force to keep his pain levels manageable. This would mean Vader could never really focus his complete power against the Emperor. That's nerd sh!t from the books and comics that us original trilogy fans devoured when we had no more movies. @@johndesalvo3348 I didn't say he was going to be at full power in the suit. Just that the suit was meant to keep him in check under the Emperor, so there could be little to no threat from Vader using the force on the Emperor. We don't know for sure if damage alone done to him by Obi-Wan would have completely hindered him from ever using the force (upon time to heal) to a greater degree than Palpatine, and neither did the Emperor so he hedged his bet with a "trap" of the suit. And I'd argue that Anakin being the chosen one of the prophecy to restore balance I think the possibility of him becoming more powerful than the Emperor, even chopped up and scarred is a good reason for Palpatine to take those extra steps to ensure Vader stayed in line.

While I agree with you, that the belly doesn't shrink immediately, Padmé was indeed staged to appear pregnant. You can read so in the "Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith" Novel. But if you trust me on this one, I shall write it out here: "To Naboo, send her body..." Yoda stretched his head high, as though tasting a current in the Force. "Pregnant, she must still appear. Hidden, safe, the children must be kept. Foundation of the new Jedi Order, they will be."
Of course you could read it as: "Send her to Naboo FAST before the belly shrinks.", but this is not the case. In a another book, i don't know the name for it, but it's one of those where there are pictures and describtions to everything, there is also a Picture of dead Padmé saying: "Padmé goes to her grave, made to look as if she was still pregnant"
And out of the universe, I would, from my own personal experience, say that you can tell pretty good if a woman just gave birth, or she is 9 months pregnant. :D Cheers and I hope I didn't annoy you :D

Vader brings balance to the force through the love of his son and saving him by killing the Emperor defeating the last sith lord and bringing balance once again to the force. Clone Wars really is amazing. Because it takes place before this movie you know what the series is building up to. The last season overlaps with the the movie. It really hits hard and makes this movie hit harder when you rewatch it after the clone wars. You just get so attached to the clones and the jedi. Like my favorite characters are the clones, you'll just fall in love with them. I honestly couldn't recommend it more. The first 5 seasons were done on cartoon network and was supposed to be a kids show. So some epsiodes in the first 2 seasons are a bit kiddish but still enjoyable, but even from season 1 you see where the creators want to go. It gets darker as it goes on. By season 5, cartoon network was like this is not the kid show we wanted, it's not even a kid show, you're canceled. Then netflix did a season and Disney did the last season. It's such an emotional journey. I cried during the last episode. I don't really cry watching anything, I mostly get shocked. The most I normally do is watery eyes and a tear or two falling. I sobbed at the end of clone wars. And when I rewatched it I cried again, which is rarer for something to hit me like that twice.
You'll definitely need to catch up on star wars and what's already out because there's so much to come. Besides the sequels, there's Rogue One and Solo. Besides clone wars and Mandalorian and Rebels, there's the first season of Bad Batch. To come there's an Obi-Wan show, a show that precludes Rogue One, Ahsoka who's a character from clone wars, and a Boba Fett show. Hayden Christensen who plays Anakin is going to be in both the Obi-Wan and Ahsoka shows.
As for the original trilogy and the prequels, George Lucas often says its the story of Anakin Skywalker. He says its about the tragedy of his life. And I think Anakin was more susceptible to the dark side than Luke. Anakin grew up a slave where really the only thing that was his was his emotions, then he leaves his mom behind at 9 for the jedi where he's told to basically ignore his emotions and don't let them affect him. We already see he's an emotional person who lets his emotions guide him. On top of that the jedi fear him because of his powers and because his future is clouded and he knows they don't trust him from an early age. And at the same time he has Palpatine manipulating him from the time he arrives on coruscant to the events of this movie. And then he's leading a war for 3 years. That's another thing clone wars does, we see Anakin slowly becoming darker and darker and Palpatine manipulating the Jedi and the Senate. Luke has a stable childhood and doesn't get told to ignore his emotions and isn't manipulated by a sith for years. He's relatively happy. So while there's still a possibility for him, there's not as much pushing him towards that way. It's ultimately his love for his father that keeps him from turning and the mutual love they have for each other that pushes Vader to save him, kill Palpatine and bring balance to the force.
For the sequel movies. It's hard to say. This comes from someone who loves the prequels. They're all okay movies, but not really star wars movies. Part of the problem is Disney had no plan and let each director write their own script and do whatever they want with the film. So there's not really a cohesive storyline like the first two trilogies and not as connected to them like the prequels are to the originals. George Lucas had an idea for the sequels and a storyline that connected to the previous films. The sequels don't really continue anything from the previous films. While the original cast are in them, they're like side characters and the have completely new characters to follow. Which is fine, but it doesn't feel connected (to me anyway). Force Awakens is a solid movie but I don't think as good as the preceding films in a star wars sense. It was well received when it came out. Although I think people wished there was more focus on the Skywalkers and it just decreases in quality as part of the trilogy. Last Jedi has some good moments but has some pretty useless characters that came out of nowhere and didn't really advance the plot overall. Even within the movie itself, it felt everything was overblown for such a small plot. Don't even get me started on Luke's character. (I think Last Jedi was such a mess because the director wasn't even a Star Wars fan, just a friend of Kathlenn Kennedy. JJ Abrams who did 7 and 9 was a fan so they were alright but could've been better. Rogue One director was a superfan and you can tell when you watch it. People working on the shows are superfans and again you can tell and the quality of them and Rogue One are so much better in comparison to the sequel trilogy.) Rise of Skywalker had so many small detail plot points the were problematic especially with what we already know about the force from the other two trilogies. I won't go into details because it could lead to a spoiler. Abrams came back because 7 was a success and 8 didn't do so well. He was basically told to fix everything. It was shown to a test audience and did horrendously bad people were walking out in the middle of the film. They brought is George Lucas for help on how to fix it before release. And you can tell when you watch it they were trying to fix it. The pacing and editing at the beginning of the movie is weird. They have at least one aborted storyline. You can tell they're trying to build to something and at some point during the movie they just let it go. There are also major plot points I have issues with because nothing is explained and you can tell its just a we need to fix this trilogy thing. I don't mind the ending considering where they took the films, I think it's pretty cool and has a lot of parallels to previous trilogies. And there are some cool moments. But I'm more likely to rewatch moments from the sequels than the films themselves. The trilogy just doesn't feel like an end for the Skywalkers which it should have been. I think part of why there's disappointment is because we see the Marvels movies and that universe. They have a set plan for the films and how they're connected and where is it building to before they have scripts written. They just needed to do that for three star wars movies and instead made it a free for all. If they even put a portion of the forethought into the sequels that went into the MCU, there would've been a huge improvement. But Disney was like, it's star wars, it'll sell. But sales went down as the sequels went on. You see a decrease in the total gross of the film from 7-9. And I don't mean to sound all negative. The cinematography is good and there's action and cool lightsaber fights and some of the characters are written well. But as part of the star wars universe and in comparison to literally all of the other star wars content, including Rogue One and Solo, it just doesn't hold up or mesh well. You'll probably enjoy them when you watch them because I did. I liked them. But then the more you sit on it and think about it and then watch anything else Star Wars, the enjoyment just dies down. I don't mean to make you go in with low expectations or preconceptions but you know people don't like it. So this way when you watch and wonder why people don't like it, you'll have something to reference.
Moral of the story, the fandom is in total agreement that Rogue One, Mandalorian and Clone Wars are good. Absolutely no divide.

Anakin brought balance to the Force in ROTJ! When he rejected the Dark Side & stopped being Vader & became Anakin again. The balance came when Anakin gave his life to save his son by killing Palpatine, getting rid of the Sith = himself as well as Sidious. This might not sound like a balance but it is. The Sith was removed & the Jedi could start over. So what Anakin was destined to do as the Chosen One never happened in the Prequels, it happened in the OT, in ROTJ. What I really love about this is that Anakin had never been able to bring balance without the help & compassion of his son. They did it together in a way.

  • @jmhaces

Obi-Wan failed Anakin because he loved him. When he goes to Padmé's place looking for him and she refuses to believe he's gone to the Dark Side and Obi-Wan leaves but just before he does he asks her if Anakin is the father of her children and that he's sorry for what's happening you realize that, of course, he always knew they were together and he played dumb even though it was forbidden because he loved both Anakin and Padmé instead of maybe talking to him about it.
And after their duel he couldn't bring himself to finish Anakin and Vader survived to kill his way across the Galaxy for 20 years until Luke finally redeemed him. We assume that's the best scenario and Anakin needed to live in order for Luke to be able to topple the Empire because he wasn't strong enough to defeat the Emperor without Vader's help, but I've always wondered what would've happened if Obi-Wan had made sure Anakin died in Mustafar. Who would've been the Emperor's new apprentice? How would that have changed the course of things? What would Luke's path have looked like without the crucial bit of having his father be one of the Alliance's main enemies?
And yeah, Luke was able to withstand the Dark Side even if at that point he wasn't as strong in the Force as Anakin at the time he turned, but remember that Luke didn't have the same inner conflict and anger Anakin had. He had a mostly normal childhood being raised by Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru on Tatooine instead of growing up as a slave and all the crap Anakin went through. Luke was always way more stable than Anakin, plus I'd argue he's also way more powerful in the Force since he was able to hold his own against Vader himself without much training, whereas Vader was trained by legit Jedi Masters at the height of the Old Republic for years and years. My boy Luke just had a crash course with Yoda in a swamp for like a month or whatever, and then read some manuals Obi-Wan had at home. Anakin is the math professor who won the Fields Medal and Luke is Matt Damon's character in "Good Will Hunting," basically.

There are major differences between why Luke managed to resist the Dark Side while Anakin couldn't. Anakin was manipulated by Palpatine since the age of 9. While Palpatine could only work with Luke for... what... an hour? Luke also came from a much happier place by comparison. Far from an easy life but he was always free. Anakin never had true freedom. He was born into slavery, he felt trapped by the rules of the Jedi & then was a slave to the Dark Side & Palpatine. Only death freed him. Luke was never that trapped & had better links to the Light. And always had the luxury of optimism. When could Anakin truly ever be optimistic about anything? I will give Anakin credit, though, for resisting the Dark Side for as long as he did. When going through the Clone Wars as well one understands even more the Darkness he had to face & resisted up until ROTS. Anakin wanted to stay in the Light, he wanted to be part of the Jedi & be accepted. He became weak in the end, yes, but he remained strong for a long time. And considering all the work Palpatine had to put into turning Anakin I am surprised he even gave it a shot with Luke at all. Turning Luke in ROTJ is next to a mission impossible. Sure, Luke felt the Dark Side for a few minutes & gave into it, but he never embraced it or turned. That's why he just as swiftly could walk away from it. Luke resisted because the Dark Side had nothing to offer him as it had to his father. This is why the son found the way to resist while the father gave in. If Anakin had never felt that the Dark Side had anything to offer he had never given in either. That is my firm belief.

Imo, in Episode VI, when Vader throws The Emperor into the reactor, I think I understood what his motivations were. Like, here, Anakin suffers greatly, tormented, with constant threats made regarding his future. Luke though? Even when facing Palpatine head on, being tortured to an inch of death, never gave in. What Vader was seeing right now was his Son being a better man than he ever was. He'd wonder what Luke would have done, were Luke in his position years ago, and realized that he had his answer right in front of him.
It's this moment, where Vader would refuse to lose anymore. Where Anakin really actually burst out, and would bring peace to the galaxy

George Lucas has said it personally. Anakin IS the chosen one. Even after murdering the sand people village, even after murdering everyone in the Jedi temple including the children, even after becoming Darth Vader. Anakin is STILL the chosen one that ENTIRE TIME. He does fullfil the prophecy by both killing Darth Sidious AND himself. Those are George Lucas exact words. Which unfortunately was wrong in the new Disney cannon because Sidious never truly died. And used Sith alchemy and necromancy to transfer his soul from clone body to clone body. Even though they kept falling apart and rotting on him because they couldn't hold all his power. Anakin IS the chosen one. And it isn't said specifically but Palpatine not only considered himself the Sith Ari (chosen one). But after the defeat of Vader in Mustafar was only 80% Palpatine's power. Unable to kill his master and take his place as the most powerful Sith. Which considering that. And that Palpatine embodies every single Sith trait and sin and was the pinnacle of the Sith philosophy he was basically right. And was the Sith chosen one.

As you suspected, Anakin brought balance to the force in Episode 6 when he destroyed Darth Sidious/The Emperor after being inspired to return to the light out of love for his son Luke.
Here's Star Wars's creator George Lucas breaking it down real nicely:
    ruclips.net/video/xgBpoiC8qGA/видео.html
I can relate to your feelings about Episode 3. It's a great film but it's also really depressing. That's why I like to follow it up with the Original Trilogy, especially Episode 6 where everything gets resolved again.
The happy ending of Return of the Jedi hits different after seeing the tragedy of Revenge of the Sith.
Luke ended up becoming everything his father failed to be and inspired him to come back and fulfill his destiny, this time out of selfless love, not the selfish obsession he had troughout the Prequels that Sidious used to manipulate him.
And Sidious was only able to get to him like that because he lacked a caring, wise father figure like Qui-Gon. Had Qui-Gon not died then Anakin would've propably not fallen to the dark side.
Man George Lucas is a genius. What a story. I'm sad that he sold the franchise since his absence is painfully noticable in the Sequels but I'm also happy he got to retire from filmmaking in peace.
This reaction series was fun. Loved how invested you got into the whole thing. Cheers!

The prophecy said that someone would bring balance to the force by destroying the sith and bringing peace to the galaxy. Ultimately, Anakin did that in Return of the Jedi when he destroyed the Emperor. Padmé wasn't supposed to die at the end, but George Lucas thought that the character should have a dramatic ending. In Return of the Jedi, Leia said that she remembers her mother. If so, Padmé should've lived and went into hiding with Bail Organa on Alderaan. She could've just died off-screen. That's the only problem I had with the movie. Otherwise, it was a masterpiece and the ending was my favorite ending of all-time. Great reaction and analysis!

Just a note for someone who is old enough to have seen every Star Wars film in theaters when they were released (yes, I saw Star Wars in 1977 in theaters), the prequels (episodes 1-3) got so much hate for about for well over a decade that it led to George Lucas selling Star Wars to Disney. Ahmed Best who played Jar Jar got so much hate on social media that he almost killed himself.
Now for some reason the prequels get so much love and now the sequels (episodes 7-9) are getting the same type of hate. Because haters got to hate and they have redirected their hate to the sequels. So when you hear how the sequels are bad, don't pay attention to it. It's the same people who used to hate the prequels that have found something new to hate.
So go watch the sequels and form your own opinion on it. Don't let the haters influence your opinion.

These 6 Star Wars reactions are the first of his videos I watched. I can't get enough of him just slaughtering the names of people. I'm a subscriber, appreciate the authentic reactions, I hate the people that are so over the top with their reactions. Good luck with the channel.

A couple of awesome details most people miss, 1: If you pay attention to the fight choreography you can see Anakin try to disarm Obi-Wan with the same trick he used to take Dooku's hands off at the beginning, though it obviously doesn't work.
2: At the very end when Anakin is on the table being put in the Vader suit, you can hear his heartbeat. It stops for a few seconds as the mask is coming down, before restarting once it seals and he takes the first breath through the mask. Even with a headset it's hard to notice it, but once you hear it you'll never miss it.
3: When Obi-Wan says "Only a Sith deals in absolutes." that statement is itself an absolute. That line perfectly sums up the hypocrisy of the Jedi, and why in a twisted way Order 66 was a good thing in the long run, the Jedi had become utter hypocrites and someone needed to hit the reset button.

Congrats on going through this. I think you should try the sequels and make up your own mind about them. Some love them, some hate them. That is the “great divide” in the fandom. And in 20 to 25 years it will shift again… In my opinion, there is always something to enjoy with Star Wars. It’s funny how people try to persuade one way or the other. Regardless, I will still watch your channel. Take care!

The balance in the force is also brought by killing all those Jedi's, so 2 Sith Lords and 2 Jedi Masters are alive at the end of the revenge of the sith's. Pretty balanced now.

Just FYI, episodes 7,8, and 9 don't really deal with the Skywalker family but the characters, especially Luke get disrespected big time. Which is why real Star Wars fans don't like those last 3 movies. Kathleen Kennedy made it a point to disrespect Luke's legacy especially. I don't consider those movies as part of the Star Wars franchise personally.

*Your perception was on point this trilogy my guy! I originally saw the Phantom Menace first so I was one of the few people shocked at every movie and I like the prequels best!!*
*Also react to the Old Republic (Full Movie), Genndy Tartakovsky the Clone Wars (Before you watch the Clone Wars), Rebels and then then other movies trust me*
*Also Darth Vader roughly translates to....Dark Father...Leia was originally supposed to be the chosen one*

The ambiguity of the prophecy was such a great core to these six movies. Part of the hubris of the Jedi was not interpreting it properly. What does it mean to "bring balance" to the force? With a dark side and light side, wouldn't "balance" mean some sort of coexistence? Obviously in 4-6, with a Sith Lord in control of the Empire, the two sides of the Force were out of balance. In 1-3, under the Republic guided by the Jedi Council, the Force was arguably "out of balance" in the other direction. The prophecy may have even been written at a time where the Jedi were on the rise or in control, and could have meant that the Jedi needed to be weakened for the sake of Balance. When Anakin switches here, he doesn't bring balance, he tips the scales strongly in the other direction, but arguably that choice puts him into a position to overthrow the Sith, where before the Jedi were blind even to his presence. This could be the fulfillment of the prophecy, or of course his son could be, but there are certainly other possible interpretations, especially considering the extended lore from other media and the sequels. I like to think that the Force seeks balance, and perhaps works through everyone to eventually achieve that.

I'd do the sequels. Remember, films are art. It's subjective, filtered through the lens of our own psyches. Good or bad is your decision. Clone Wars gives a lot more context to the prequels, Rebels gives more context to the originals. Rogue One is probably the best Star Wars film, objectively. Solo is a lot of fun. Enjoying watching these films with you man, great channel.

Major, definitely watch 7-9. Some people are just haters. They need every single thing that is on the screen to be explained, believable and canonical. Don't you dare use your own imagination! I personally had to watch 7-9 more than once to put it all together, and I would not have been able to do a very good review of the movie. Maybe you should watch them first and THEN do the reaction on your 2nd viewing, or, if you want to keep the surprise for us, I'd still suggest a second viewing even if you don't put it on here. I just watched #9 again today, and I swear, I keep on finding new stuff to like about it. Anyway, great reaction, and I'm glad to have subscribed!

In mind of George Lucas balance of the force is peace. Anakin did that when he threw down Sidious in Retun of the Jedi. without sith there is peace and that peace bring balance. If Sith are dominant then they always fought between themselves so only light side is answer.
And finally you reacted to this movie hahah.

  • @sam3nvb565
    @sam3nvb565 2 года назад +1

I know I’m late but the whole idea of balance is supposed to be that the sith are destroyed, which if exclude the newer movies which kinda retconned that idea, Anakin technically did destroy the sith in return of the Jedi thus bringing balance. A good series of games to play to play to get a better understanding of the Jedi, sith, and the force as a whole is knights of the old republic 1&2.
