I got the TI9 (nine inch model) with the total scan transducer at Bass pro when they went $400 off!!! I paid $600. And the fish reveal works with the side scan just as the down scan. Side scan is a game changer when targeting fish around bait balls. Both your traditional and down scan will show you there are fish, but they can be thirty feet to your left or right, all the while, your vertical jigging for fish that are not where you think they are.
Fish reveal does not work with sidescan. That’s what lowrance says. Are you saying it does?
@@YankeeTankerOutdoors
I use a split view with traditional side and down scan. I have the fish reveal on. and when the down scan is showing the yellow red and blue markings, I see them also on the side scan window. So i just assumed it worked on both. But I now am going to run side scan only and see if the fish reveal works that way.
Yeah that’s not what I mean. The split view of course it works.
Fish reveal does in fact work with sidescan on my elite ti2
Please wish transducer you use on your unit thanks
I see that Georgia Bulldog “GEORGIA G” behind you. Yes sir!! National Champs!! We got us one ☝🏻.

Several places today have 9 inch screen hummingbird and garmin units with down and side imaging for 499-600..about 400 off ...i presently own a helix 5 with down imaging,,only problem is is open sun screen is hard to see ...wanting to upgrade to larger screen because of my failing eyesight..i do like the fact that the lowrance had touch screen..i just want a unit that is very clear and worth the investment...a 99 garmin will keep you aware of depths plenty good enough however i fish santee cooper lakes and i want to be able to find brushpiles...brushpiles in our lake mean fish in the boat..especially mid and late summer...thanks for the video..clear and to the point so anyone can understand..
Side scan can cover way more water then anything else. It’s a must have.
not for a kayaker - I understand how SS works.. and it is my opinion that it is not worth it for a kayak.
@@YankeeTankerOutdoors I think it’s important to mention those using trolling motors or the faster pedal ones with the SS though. It’s not just for seeing structure to fish it real time. It is highly valued when used to find, and waypoint, structure to fish later and it allows to get more detailed contour with Genesis Live.
Hey Matt, I use the 7Ti with side scan in an Atak and Radar. I was told about the side scan issues and needing to lower the transducer - they were wrong. Mounting the transducer direct to the pod, on the lowrance mount, leaving the bottom of the transducer flush with the bottom of the hull around the scupper, and the images are no different at all than if you drop the transducer lower into the water. Food for thought.
Rod N Paddle it might be the way the hulk is designed that it works that way. Still great info.
Informative...koo...I also have the 9ti on my Titan...my 1st finder and to this point I think it's great...
Solid unit for sure.
Well shoot! Watching this video two days late as usual I just got my 128g SD card in the mail. Now ordering a 32g. Thanks for the video.
Believe it or not I bought the same Lowrance unit to put on a wilderness Kayak in 2017. Drove from Texas to New Mexico to fish for a week, and could never get the touch screen to work. Later that year I swapped batteries for a larger unit (thinking the Elite TI demanded more power), and finally replaced the Lowrance unit. I wish I'd seen this video back then. I figured out the grounding problem when I setup the Elite TI for Ice fishing and found another video that talked about the grounding problem.
I did think you were gonna complain about it 😂😂😂😂😂. Very informative 👍👍.
Nice tips man! Even though I don’t own a lowrance, this is a good thing to know whenever I upgrade. 👍👍
DONT EVER CHANGE!!! lmao
Yankee Tanker 😂😂😂😂
my first unit was black and white on my boat .. my 2c down scan works if there are no waves and side scan does not work it failed to show me a bridge legs 3ft wide . fish finders work better in super deep water and they work best on fresh water and calm day
I ended up reformatting a 64gb to FAT32 and it allowed it to read it.
Can you do an update through wifi instead of using an SD card?
Love my Ti 7, but wish I had gone with the 9. But my mounting place is farther away than yours.
You need glasses. Lol.
Didn't know the ground trick but I could have helped ya with the card part.
If I would read the damn manual I wouldn’t have these issues. But ya know. I’m from the south. We just figure shit out or get electrocuted. lol
@@YankeeTankerOutdoors Who's this guy Manuel you speak of. lol
😂😂😂
New Sub here.... looking at this model for a Kayak install myself.
I have the Helix 7 on my Outback but, am looking at the Hook2 7 or the 7 Ti used for another kayak setup.
I’m super satisfied with my unit.
Hook 2 would be a downgrade from a helix 7
thank you
Welcome!
got the elite ti5 a while back but i think mine might have been updated for me. i havent had grounding issues or updates yet. i did switch out my navionics maps for the lowrance set and now i dont get topos of anywhere through navionics but i figure that was because i am not paying for navi
also great video. you rock. hitting bullards for the weekend. see you there
Make sure you are connected to the internet when you check for updates.
Ive Had the 7ti with total scan in my aluminum boat an battery is sitting on. Plastic shelf an I have a dedicated power from battery to the graph head unit an never have had a touch screen problem I have power an ground from battery to unit but battery is not direct grounded to nothing
That's weird my Ti 5 inch doesn't have those issues. Except the SD card.
so odd..
Hey man! Been a subscriber for a little while. How about an update on the unit? I'm about ready to put this on my native Titan 10.5. Are you still pretty happy with it? I got the 9-inch version but all the mechanics are the same it's just screen size. Glad to know about the grounding. I watched your video before I bought it. Hopefully when I get it on the water it is grounded.
I am super happy with my Ti unit. Great and never have had an issue.
@@YankeeTankerOutdoors Any side scan problems with this mounted on the yak? I was going to mount mine the MOBBIN way. Hey also, how long will it run for you on a a battery charge?
Josey4u I don’t have side scan. Waste of money. Side scan is only effective when moving 3+ mph. As kayakers I don’t think it is worth it. Battery life is dependent on which battery you use. I have a lithium. I can go two days.
@@YankeeTankerOutdoors Hey one more thing, the grounding problem is fixed once it is in the water yes? I have tossed this around in my head and between the hull and battery compartment, this still gets grounded?
@@Josey4u Yes once in the water no issue. Not sure - I think it might be ok. You have to put a bit of water in your hull to do it that way anyways.
i just got an elite 5 ti head unit, and would like to know which model transducer you work with? does it comes med/ high chirp option?
What graphics card are you using
Graphics card?
@@YankeeTankerOutdoors map sonar card?
Navinics
Are the down scan and side scan images in color
I do not have side scan. I think it’s pointless in a kayak. Everything in color yes.
Yankee Tanker I am a newbie. Could you please explain why other then possibly damaging it . Will it not work properly because of not maintaining speed of 2mph or 5mph ?
@@YankeeTankerOutdoorsWhy is it pointless? Just wondering because I'm about to get into kayak fishing.
Side scan really only reads properly when you are moving. At a speed of more than 2 mph.
Any color u want
"Covering it up" is not the fix, touching the negative terminal is the fix for out of water operation. Not sure why you use the phrase "covering it up" and because it's "not grounded" in the same sentence. It's just weird and technically incorrect.
What's wrong with your hands? You keep waving them around.
sorry I get excited when I think of all the dickhead comments I could possibly receive from someone like you.
Lmmfao!
