I don't know if Farvann realizes it, but he's a master of seamlessly transitioning from cold, melancholy black metal riffs to almost rock&roll head-banging riffs. It's as evident on Durbatuluk albums just as much as it is here.
Huh? That description is more fitting for the band in 1991. As for their entire discography, that is an extremely inaccurate and insufficient description of the band as a whole.
@@zhepkin i would say from 1992 until "The cult is alive". Ain't saying they're the only influences we could hear from the them. But the primitiveness and "black n roll" stuff had the basis from Celtic Frost/Hellhammer. The repetitiveness, atmosphere and sinister sound from Bathory is totally translated to their shit as well as Mayhems aesthetic. To call this "extremely inaccurate" is extremely exaggerated.

Probably Transylvanian Hunger was what got me back into metal and specifically into black metal which was a total fascination and atmospheric plunge that I never got out of since 1995. I always return to Darkthrone as a reliable minimalistic riff riff riffing sound. Panzerfaust is my favorite album because of it's groovy variety and Ravishing Grimness is also because I heard it as something refreshing after some years of hiatus, anyway that's how I remember - maybe it was on CD instead of tape, like the older albums?
