@@lynby6231 The very end seems to quote both "See Emily Play" and "Strangers in the Night" - two very poignant allusions. Perhaps also the Last Post (seems to be hinted around 14:30-15:00).

that's Pink Floyd; masters of the emotional journey and that's because they're masters of the transition. smooth, effortless and perfect. they compose, like classical composers. so glad that you're really getting into them, especially the long ones, as most young people, these days, seem to have little patience, or attention spans. out of all the long ones, my favourite is Echoes. it's one they seldom play live, but when they do, they change it, so my favourite version, is when David Gilmour performed it, as a solo artist, in 2006, at Gdansk, in Poland. it's even longer than the original, by 2 minutes, so it's 25 minutes long, but you should check it out, as well as the studio version AND the live at Pompeii, '72 version.

My favorite performance of Echoes is live from Gdańsk - last time David played it as he refuses to since Rick Wright passed away. Respect! 👊🏼

Apparently the band sacked Syd Barrett by just not picking him up for a gig and then carried on without him. A very English way to get rid of an unreliable band member.By that stage he was already fired by LSD. Legend has it that he turned up at Abbey Road when this was being recorded.

In Syd's defense he also suffered from some mental health issues that in combination with the phsycadelics drove him off the reservation out into no mans land. This is a very fitting dedication to the founder and original writer of Pink Floyd

  • @helmutvogel901

Great reaction. Okay, you already have the most important thing necessary for listening to Pink Floyd : Headphones! Suggestion for you : If you pause, please rewind a bit before restarting. Also, please try not to pause during one of Mr. Gilmour's guitar solos. Please? Also, FYI, there are 4 or 5 albums by Pink Floyd, including the one this song is from, that are concept albums and should be listened to as one long song, because that was how they were recorded. Those albums are Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall. Since Obscured by Clouds album is a movie soundtrack, I guess that should be listened to like a concept album as well. Now, on most of the albums I mentioned above, when you listen to it uninterrupted, you will not even know they are in the next song for a while.
