Absolutely beautiful Vanessa, I enjoyed everything that you showed us. Your wildlife shots were amazing, you were so lucky to get a badger, fox and then a pheasant. The heron was so friendly I’ve never seen one hang around where people are. The glass in the museum was exquisite, another one to put in my bucket list of places to visit. Tranquil magic of nature and boat life, so calming and serene. the sequence of you making your cup of tea at the end of the vlogs, always makes me think about making my own cup, then I realise I don’t like tea, but the general ambience of your vlogs takes me to a different mindset.

That heron was something really special, along with the glass factory. I love those elegant bulbous cones, they are really a sculpture I think. Thanks for the ride.

That was the strangest and most inconvenient water point I've ever seen in the roughly three years I've been watching the dozen or so narrowboat vlogs I subscribe to. It's a wonder anyone manages to fill up at all! I loved the glass museum at Stourbridge! It was so uniquely interactive, historic, and informative. I think I could pretty easily spend an entire day there just absorbing it all.
The water point was an adventure all on its own😂 The glass museum was brilliant and there is a cafe over the road next to the cone house. So much history in one spot. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, have a great rest of the week.🌻🦋

Hi Vanessa and Zephyr. Fancy being so close and yet so far with the water hose, but you overcame the problem with a little bit of enginuity. The heron which sat on the lock whilst you were going through. mostly those birds take off before you get that close. Lovely relaxing vlog, as usual xx

A very special trip today with such a variety of bridges to admire and accompanying stories. The glass factory was marvelous. I vividly remember my parents taking my siblings and me to a glass factory to watch the glass blowers, something that has always fascinated me. The night scenes are spectacular! Vanessa, is that an Aussie flag on Alice Grace’s stern? No Union Jack? I marvel at how you manage the locks! Onto a new adventure tomorrow! Sweet Dreams!

Bogwoppit is our boat!! Named after the book. It’s one of two official Bogwoppits registered on our waterways, the other is on the River Lee in London.

WOW ! Vanessa, one of your best vlogs. So much interest in that journey, that on my vast travels I have missed out on. Good evening Vanessa what a delightful vlog full of interesting facts of life by the canal, its amazing the things that can be made from glass very nice but it wouldn't stay in one piece in my house lol. I hope Zephyr was good for u and there where no breakages ?How lovely to watch the wildlife venturing out at night being inquisitive by ur boat where u using a night camera? The times I've visited the Merry Hill Centre but never been up to see the canal l think its on my list to visit now it looks so nice. Hi Simon, I wouldn't be able to keep glass either!🤭 Zephyr didn't knock anything over fortunately and she loved the treats! I am using a night camera and it is so exciting to look though the footage in the morning. I have wanted to see badgers for ages but its hard to film them in the dark. Wow yes what an encounter with the heron! They are usually so nervous and fly off having spotted us a mile away, really beautiful up close and colourful - thank for the close ups! And hilarious taking us down to see the train tracks, I had one of those scary rapid descents some months back in a forest, how you managed to hold onto the camera I do not know!!

oh wow, my nearest marina is Ashwood Marina in Kinver! It's beautiful around there, you my pass Ashwood Nurseries - they have a fabulous garden which backs on to the canal - which is looking stunning at the moment....I will wave if I see you!!! I like walking there (until I can get my narrowboat!)

It's not a romantic idyllic life while cruising, you've shown it's really hard work but the nature that you see on the trip you would totally miss if on the road. Swings and roundabouts, I would still say it's a good life if you are fit. Thanks for the ride. Enjoy the time with your family =-)

Unusually friendly Heron! Perhaps passing boaters feed it?
The heron was so interested in watching our boat go through the locks there. Perhaps when you empty the lock, it's easier to spot the fish? It was wonderful though to see it so closely. Thank you for your comment. Have a great weekend🦋🌻
Thanks for another fantastic voyage aboard the Alice Grace I always like it when you manage to overcome hardships. Hose to short to reach the water tank no problem just patch in another one even if you do get a bit wet. I have to ask how did you manage to get that candid video of the badger and I think there was a fox in it as well? I see my favorite name for a narrow boat has been used ...Am a big Harry Potter fan as well have a great week see you next Friday

What was that red-beaked bird with the yellow-big-toed feet? A Common Gallinule? Is it related to a Coot? Jenny

Wow, all those homes in one cruise. We did cover a lot of miles though! I don’t have a vehicle but my husband keeps his car as he still needs to drive to work sometimes. He has a bike which he uses to cycle back to the car on. Thank you for watching, take care🦋🌻
During summer how do you handle the heat? Do you have air conditioning? Can you put in a window unit?. And During the winter the ice inside on windows, can't you use silicone and go around the windows.
I run several fans with a bowl of cold water in front of them. They are rechargeable fans so they don't hammer the batteries. I have thermal blinds which I close but I leave all air vents and windows open; I also put a wet towel across the stern door so the breeze, if there is one cools the boat through it. I bought a sprinkler this year but didn't need it but basically, it takes canal water and continually pumps it onto the tubing along the roof. Also, I always moor in the shade on a very hot day. Filling your water tank has similarities to me trying to fill up our cows tank ie- hose to short ,tractors running over the hose and worse people changing the pipe over so when you get back the cows tank is still empty heigh ho🙁You got some cracking shots on the wildlife cam (more please ?)👍
