They always seemed stale if I remember correctly, though may have been the Supermarket's stock rotation though back in those days xD
In warehouses stuff is stored for weeks . I was a packer in the factory in Barnsley that makes tubs of sandwich filling ( Iceland, Asda , Morrisons etc) . They are stored for a day or two before they are sent to shops.Same with the cooked meat down the road, a week .
