That part where the presenter stops the wife from going on ahead of him was gold.
Ha Ha...woman your place lol so political incorrect

Liam Redmond it's called no respect heard of it oh sorry your child you won't have
I love people who can make fun of themselves.
This is completely stereotypes
Conall Smyth how’s it the bbc taking the piss when the people doing the sketches are probably the ones who wrote it(not sticking up for the bbc just making a point)
Naa most of us now have become intolerant butthurt who are bad at taking jokes....
@@Marc1996L Do you think the BBC would hire Asians showing you what life is really like for Asians in the UK? Trust me these actors are uncle Toms. The BBC only hire them because they make a mockery out of brown people.

The Sikh man impression is so spot on it’s hilarious. Even the way he walks like he’s got a rocket up his backside😂.
The actor is Sikh so the impression is probably of his dad.
I am an Indian and this is pure gold.
this os one of the funniest sketches ever ,thing is I KNOW a mr panesar,he comes to the cash n carry where i work lmaoooo
@Space_Race well Britain needs to pay reparations, then we'll talk
Space_Race Nope the biggest diamond in the world was smashed into pieces and put into the crown. The diamond belonged to the Sikh King Maharaja Ranjit Singh of the SIKH EMPIRE and was seized after he died in an attempt to silence the Sikh nation and steal all resources from Panjab - part of the Sikh Empire.
Space_Race It’s called the KOHINOOR (ਕੋਹੀਨੂਰ) and was owned by the Sikhs of the Sikh Empire
@@p4vns433 Err, the star of Africa and the lesser star in the crown jewels were made from the largest diamond ever discovered and I assure you Cullinan is not in India! Though the commune of the communist Mahatma Gandhi was relatively nearby when he lived in South Africa.
Kulvinder Ghir can be funny just staring at the camera with a proud expression
He does it all in only ONE take... man!!
Lol yeah.
Like the famous Bollywood star sketches haha
“Sasriakaal”!!
I lost it at that "decorative tissue box". As someone from Sri Lanka, I can relate to that! LOL
I'm part Sri Lankan and never saw that.
kohomada?
When they stop her twice I can't stop lol 😭😭😭😭😭😭
😂😂😂
😂😂🤭
I worked as a mini cab driver in Southall back in the 80’s and this sketch is just so true. You wouldn’t believe what people have tried to stuff into my old Nissan Bluebird 😂
I'm an indian and I don't think we should take offence to this , it's rather funny.
Sidd Exactly!👍👏
It's every Indian family..old fashioned
this is hilarious - i work in a cash n carry n know at least 2 Mr Pannesars :D
Yes that cause you are indian , why don't you go back and do funny things there
Ok Dictator
Wouldn't be allowed to air anything like this today, this is just pure gold.
Little Britain, League of gentlemen etc .
You would be, actually. This was all written by British Asians. You mean that white people can't make these kinds of jokes about British Asians.
They just have mate.
@@LauraGrrrr5370 white people can make jokes about asians its just white people cant paint their face brown and pretend to be asians....
Yes you can - see Famalam for example.

UK asian = bangladeshis.pakistanis. And indians.
USA .australia asian = chinese .japanese and korean and so on.

The tissue box made me laugh, all my friends dad's car's had the gold fancy tissue box on the back window sill of the cars in the 70s 😊
Right upto the 90s I still remember seeing them.
I live in the US and have never heard of this show. A British friend of mine just sent me this clip and told me about this show and I'm laughing as hard as the audience/laugh track. This is absolutely hilarious. I need to watch more of this show.
Jarod Smith it's not a laugh track. The was always a live audience. They just play them the clip on TVs while I'm the studio. So you're hearing their live laughter.
Check out their most famous clip - "Going for an English".
Skipinder the Kangroo was a hilarious sketch.
Jarod Smith type in Goodness Gracious Me. Was a popular tv series in the 90’s of typical british asians who take the mick out of british and asians when no-one got offended as it was for a laugh. Can’t do these kind of shows again as people get offended 😔
*TORRENT*
The police pulled a transit van over on the motorway and said to the asian driver "Do you know that the limit on the motorway is 70" the asian driver turned around and shouted "Did you hear that, 2 of you will have to get out"
I liked the GGM sketch about the group of Asians "going out for an English". They loved the bland taste. And they ordered those.. what do the English call them....b r e a d r o l l s.
That sketch was lightly mocking English groups in curry houses.
"What a magnificent beast she is"
The guy with the turban (kulvinder ghir) is my best mates uncle :)
+Gemma Westover best mates uncle's 2nd grade cousin after his grand dad
Exactly!
Something which the English like to call "pulling one's leg", but hey I might be doing it wrong because I'm not English, I may have messed things up.
Pulling a leg is telling someone something like it's fact but is in fact a joke. Seems you were rather heading towards sarcasm.
So what you are saying is that my jokes are bad?
This brings backs good memories, when comedy was good. The good old days were great !
Kulvinder Gill was the star of this series. His expressions and subtle actions were all hilarious.
ikr? great physical comedian

@The Geek Is Strong
Sikhs aren't indian you racists race baiter
IDGAF about British Indians privilege doesnt mean you can make insults about Sikhs

What cultural impact would it have if I were to add a tikka to my head and mill ganesh and repeat mantras from a book Hindus mis- appropriated from punjabi
Rig veda, Sam ved ????
Or laugh about brahma incestuous relationships with his daughter??
Is that moving your culture forward?
I am an Indian, and love this show. It's just hilarious how the writers have captured every little thing about Indian culture!
Damn i miss the The Goodness Gracious Me team.
Seconded.
Same, they were also the Khumars at Number 42
They followed the rule of "always leave them wanting more", and didn't wait until the public thought "Why are they still on the TV?"
0:50 - The bit where both men stop her walking in front of them is the funniest and most culturally accurate part of this clip! 😂
Not nowadays
Will forever make me laugh
😂😂😂
My entire childhood. We used to travel like this 😂😂😂
This was the only program that literally made laugh until it hurt. As an Indian, I thought it was just great. We don’t mind making fun of ourselves. Every culture has their own quirks, I’m so proud to have an indian heritage.
Bless you. Stay safe...
It's just brilliant.
This was a great show - comedy was way better when everyone was allowed to make jokes
unfortunately, it’s even hard to imagine now that such a video can be recorded
Agreed.
It must not be forgotten that humour and offence are two different things. Satire plays on stereotypes in order to be funny, it's the point.
It's not ACTUALLY offensive to anyone other than people who are exact copy of the satire. In which case, they deserve to be laughed at.
But satire removes the characters from reality, so finding people who match it will be pretty slim.
black people
To this day I still tell people to kiss my Chuddies, especially when they get all pc on me.
@@mihaylets it stops people from getting upset. why is that so wrong?
I’m born and raised in England, seeing that cracks me up !! That Nissan Sunny is a typical asian car, how I know, my eldest uncle had one then gave it to her eldest daughter as 1st car.
Nissan Sunny an Asians car? I mean I know a white person who has one. Never have I seen a sunny being driven by an Asian.
@@WRXMK Of course it was. Back in the days Nissan's Sunny's were an Asian favourite, as were Toyota's and other Japanese cars. Times have changes but what was said in the clip rang true in the past.
I grew up in Leicester in the 90's and knew quite a few Asian families with a Nissan Sunny 😁
yes
Bluebirds and Sunnys
Imagine trying to make this in 2020. Everyone would be triggered
So true.
True. But look at the dislikes. I'm surprised BBC didn't took the video down.
I'm surprised it's still up.
By the bbc least of all!

"What a charming pious touch" ... such a funny line.

Growing up in an Asian household I can confirm we had a car very similar to this 😅🤣
I love how Kulvinder Ghir is trying not to laugh at 2:07 and almost not succeeding.
Also I wish I spoke more of what I presume is Punjabi to follow more than just the gist of what they're saying.
Very funny, reminds me of growing up in the 1970's everyone packed their car full of kids, larger families then. Grandparents aunts, uncles, inlaws, neighbours too...
This is immigrant intergration at it's finest , becoming part of the fabric of the country and adopting it's culture (whilst maintaining your own ) I know these Asian actors are second or third generation immigrants but they are a beacon of hope for how things should be for all diverse peoples who end up making Britain their home .. Brilliant comedy (not racist) poking fun at themselves and their culture (something Brits , scots , Irish and Welsh do ) so welcome to a perfect example of How immigrated communities SHOULD be ...
Indians have never been a problem. They're a former colony. They become Doctors and open shops. But then we've never bombed India, so they don't have reason to hate us.
Cockoff Gewgle Churchill did his best to starve them during the war. Britain committed a number of atrocities in India, but they are by and large distant and beyond living memory.
completely agree.
😙 Thank you!
Cockoff Gewgle they don’t have a reason to hate the British? May I suggest you “gewgle” the Amritsar Massacre?
Had the same car, used it to go to the restaurant for "a full English" and order the blandest thing on the menu
Imagine the BBC showing this now
Yeah I was just thinking that, just shows how PC they've become in the past decade
Mr. Kahn was on the BBC. The Kumars was on BBC. You seem to have a selective memory.
All the performers in this comedy series became, and are still well known actors. This was a brilliant comedy series that continued the British tradition of self depreciation. A perfect example of cultures uniting. What's more; it was extremely funny. They took the mickey out of everyone.
Self-deprecation.
Sorry!
British Asian humour at its finest.
Just brilliant comedy...I also like the restaurant sketch..." what is the blandest thing on the menu"..... 😄😄😄
Sanjeev for Top Gear host!
The bit where they cram everyone in the car is relatable
This was such a great series . Totally hilarious on all levels .
That huhhh to stop his wife from going in front of him 🤣🤣
There was a time when we could take the piss out of each other, but now it's called racism, that sketch was brilliant.
Jamie Kelly I think the reason this stuff was accepted was that it was people taking the piss out of themselves and their own kind
@Salt & Pepper Where's the evidence of that?

@Salt & Pepper So only people in the US? That's probably why I haven't heard of it.
Can you imagine this being made today?
This would be racist apparently.
Well it's being hosted today on the official BBC channel, so apparently not.
@@johnmccarthy1569 Theres a difference between actively making something new and reshowing something though.

The decorative tissue box 😂😂😂
The built-in shrine is the hit for me! In Japan, people tie safe driving charms from the local shrine to their rear view mirror. The best charms don't block the vision of the driver.
Kulvinder is Giggling under that beard
Love it when he says aho
Love watching these back. I am 26 and had an awareness of this show when I was a kid but don't really remember watching. I remember one night I was up later than I should have been and from memory it was a compilation of sketches from British Asian comedy shows. Two vividly stick in my head.
The first was very simple - an elderly man (possibly wearing a turban) steps outside to pick up his milk and/or the newspaper. The door shuts behind him and he simply says, "bollocks."
The second involved Sikh policemen and their helmets riding bicycles, I can't remember much more than that. Please, if this rings a bell for anyone reading - help me to remember what I'm remembering!
Fabulous....it is so important to be able to laugh at ourselves.... 😅
back in the days when the BBC was worth the license fee
That car was still making trips to the cash & carry as recently as 2003 according to DVLA
Jesus
That car was 16 years old at that time. It's not uncommon to see cars of that age honestly.
I grew up watching GGM as a kid in India. Brought back wonderful memories!
Because it's INDIAN.
Indian/Pakistani people have been apart of English culture longer than ive been alive, please dont get rid of these videos mr bbc they mean alot to us

One of the funniest shows ever on the BBC. No way they would make it now despite the fact it takes the piss out of everyone.
A lot of bad comments on here.It was written and predominantly acted by Asians,it poked fun at both Asian and British alike.I thought it was hilarious when it was on TV and I for one didn't find it offensive.....anyone fancy an English?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

haha an english indian trying to do an indian accent!
No, that's nothing like when he does his genuine Indian voice - which, no doubt, he picked up perfectly from his parents - but that is the mix of Asian & Northern English which I hear very often in Bury where I live. I find it rather an endearing combo.
That's how a lot of Asians sound like up North [though they are native born and raised]. It's less common these days though [or so I'm told].
*****
As it gets watered down with every generation.
It's mostly the first generation born in the north who have that accent. I've noticed the younger lads talk like Ali G nowadays but I guess that's British youth in general.
yes true
Indian Hammond pure 24k gold💪💯😅
Kulvinder in this kills me lol. Just the face makes you laugh and the funny random things he says. Trying so hard not to laugh as well.
That mixed accent of Indian and Black Country is priceless 😂
@Throw indjans in gas chamberZ Sounds a lot like how they speak here as well.
That decorative tissue box.... I have seen that in every south asian house I have been to.

Top Gear without Jeramy clarkson
Sad to think now this would be considered racist and offensive even though its meant to be humorous
MEANT to be humorous and IS humorous are two very different things.
