Delightful update. Thanks for checking in. It’s insane here in the U.S. We moved to Oregon last September and had a lovely fall, some light snow, bought a big ass house, and we’ve spent the entire lockdown renovating it. So many projects that kept us busy from morning til night. The hubs built me a raised garden for vegetables and herbs, which kept me busy babysitting tomatoes, beets, Swiss chard etc, then canning, pickling, freezing and making jam from our fruit trees!!! Grateful we have gotten through this nasty virus healthy, wearing masks, staying away from crowds, staying out of crowded spaces. Cheers and best wishes!

They had to close parts of the PCT here in Oregon because of fires but at least the smoke kept antifa out of the Peoples Republic of Portland for awhile. Take it easy TC/MJ! Mari Johnson I may end up in NZ one day as well. I have dual Aus/Canadian passports so the Aus one allows me to live in NZ. Christchurch was the first independent backpacking trip I ever did at the tender age of 21! So I have a very special connection to NZ.

For as long as you live, if you never do a long hike again, you will find your thoughts going back to the PCT. I am getting to old to consider a thru hike, but I did hike a small section with my son down by Diamond Lake this summer. We had a great time. I would stand on the trail and think of the vloggers I have watched and to think they all had been this way. Thanks for sharing your journey, and I will continue with my little sections.

Great Video Mari! Hard to believe it's been a year! I came here to CHCH NZ at the end of January of 2019. I planned to return to the states to visit but life happened. I miss my family, and I miss the Bay Area too, but I appreciate the reality of a safer place away from CoronaVirus. Finally, I get to tour NZ starting in two weeks. Tekapo, Queenstown, and Milford Sound are on the itinerary. We're not going to rough it too much. Sightseeing, cozy motels, and Hotels!

That was definitely the scariest part for me! But it was 100% worth it. The other good thing is that it’s not actually part of the PCT so you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to 😊

Was just looking for something from you yesterday. Happy anniversary! I live in Western Australia and I think if I had to move because of this C-19, New Zealand would be a good choice. .... Loved watching your thru-hike. I’m too old to do it now (73 and not fit enough) but used to look fwd to your posts. .... I have kitted out a van and have traveled quite a lot in it ... only short trips this year, but am hoping to go to a quilting retreat at Ayers Rock (oops, sorry, Uluru) next year, and then drive on up to Darwin, catch the Ghan down to Adelaide, fly back to pick up the van and drive back home via the West coast. I think my favorite video of yours from trail was in Washington when the trail had obviously kicked your teeth in and moral was very low but the vid was juxtaposed with happy/peppy music. Was I the only one that caught this ?
Wooohoooo Mari was thinking of you two the other day! So happy to see you again. Hope you come back on youtube soon. 🥰🥰 In London been quiet and everything is upside down still in London in regards to C-19. I brought a guitar but am slow to playing it. Got a tattoo which is in italian of course its 'sbagliando si impara' which means by making mistakes one learns. That's it for me. So good to see you hun. Maybe do a zoom session one day. Xx

I've been good. I completed the Bruce Trail here in Canada last summer with my new dog. A1nd this summer we've been going back and doing the side trails a lot. I think you ate so poorly on the trail, it worried me about your health to see your food.. I'm supprised you didn't collaps from mailnutrition, exhaustion, and vitamin deficancy. Ha. I always make a point to eat healty if I'm exerting that much energy but none of my buisness, I know. I really appreciate your videos and love the style. You inspire me to hike more trails.

Yeah definitely not as good!
One meal I developed for the trail that is also popular at home is clam chowder/oyster stew. The difference between the two is whether clams or oysters are available in a can.

No citizenship, but I recently got permanent residency. I got it through partnership, so can’t really help out about other ways unfortunately. But if you find a kiwi..! Haha

@@mari.johnson oh no, not Biden...he too old, 77, he not make it four years, plus he will never run for a second term, he just hang out and do nothing, i will probably vote for Trump, he another old white man, but at 74 seems to have a ton of energy, shakes things up a bit, and does seem to accomplish some things, i guess, even if he seem to have a lot of issues at times, overall i liked Tulsi Gabbard as president, but she only got small % of the vote in the primaries, Biden's health not great, probably wont make it four years, that means Kamala Harris will be our president
