The millions of lives Kiran Ji has changed with her Paani foundation in Marathwada and Vidarbha regions of my Maharashtra, made me have huge respect for her. I didn't know about Mr. Aamir Khan and Kiran having such a foundation until an American RUclipsr who makes video in climate change and agriculture show how big of a deal this is!! Imagine, they didn't post ads or fliers over any news channel for any of that great deed meanwhile, government which does any activity from our taxes and the uses our taxes to post ads to show us how great they are going meanwhile, getting pensions even if they are an MLA or MP for a day shows how British era has resurfaced where only the princely states and their kings have been replaced with MLA and MP meanwhile, our soldiers are being martyred daily and who would struggle in the coming years to make their ends meet with Agniveer scheme which has no pensions! Can't imagine a disservice greater than that to our soldiers.
People are aware much of Amir's hypocrisy. So when a "phoren journalist" documents, its credibility just went up a notch. The duo know how and when to use PR
I loved her authenticity. And the last part about slowing down and enjoying the time you have is so true. PS: I love her curls! Was admiring it the whole podcast. I wish celebs wore their natural curls.
I loved Laapata Ladies. I feel like it's one of the best Hindi films I've watched in ages. I admire Kiran Rao's work. She has magic. Would you consider putting up these episodes on Spotify or Amazon music?
Loved, loved, loved the film!!! A hilarious way of messaging about a serious and important social issue that impacts thousands or maybe millions of women in India n other similar South Asian n Arab countries. I cried at the end, as in reality, most girls/women from similar oppressed patriarchal backgrounds are not lucky enough to find their happy ending ... Unless they get lucky enough to have supportive parents/husband's ... still reliant on the support of male figures in their lives 😔 I am so grateful that I'm privileged enough not to be one of them 🙏💜
The success and failure as a woman i related to and how. Single out of choice at 49, happy , iv been seen as a failure by scty, even by my own people , educated, living in a city like Mumbai. And even though i have a private practice as a psychologist and run it at my pace and balance life, im still seen as a failure . And only because people dont see me in a high flying corporate career , earning great bucks and flaunting a lavish life! My biggest peace and joy and freedom comes from living life on my terms. My single status is more because i have not come across a man who is not conditioned/ patriarchal To me its partnership , and to be able to see life together with a person i wish to grow and evolve with. If not, i dont see sense. And yes, another thing is we think things have changed , more in a progressive direction , but ground reality is they have not, for the large part!
Patriarchy s a condition laid down by both the genders of the society . the pecking order of the society - ruled by community ethos or by caste rules in India and the race card in the Western societies. These are tools that humans use to keep the society under control , and condition them. It will stay as long as the earth exists
I was raised in a progressive family. My father is a writer and has been writing about women rights and justice for over 50 years. And he practiced what he preached at home also. Unfortunately when I was to get married, I didn’t come across boys or families with a similar background. I chose to marry a guy who seemed like the best out of the lot. But it turned out to be family where sons/ men are worshipped. I tried my way to lead a more equal life, it it was not appreciated by the guy. 25 years into the marriage, my sister in law visited us first time recently and I found out she and her mom still spoon feeding my husband. I couldn’t believe that the society hasn’t changed much. I feel more appreciative of my father knowing that people still live in old era. Still, I didn’t have the courage to move out of the marriage and home, but hopefully, as my younger daughter is moving out for studies, I will take that plunge.
Thank You, Faye for this amazing podcast! Kiran Ji & You have given so much of insights about Ladies & this really gave me the other perspective. Thanks a tonne!
Sisterhood is rarely depicted in Bollywood because its an industry which is lead men, and this is an experience /emotion male filmmakers cant acknowledge as they are clueless about it.
I too loved this film and Kiran Mam is an excellent director, writer and producer. I have been a fan of her work from Dhobi Ghat.. But then why no one mentions about it's similarity to "Ghungat Ke Pat Khol"?? Why it got deleted from RUclips? Just asking!
The only visible and invisibility matters - when we want to seek and find the truth or want to be contend with the lies going around. the resourcefulness and the resources always oscillates . When we continually depend on our emotions we become invisible or visible - To whom ? Does it really matter ? We all are spiritual beings and we want to run away from our creator and want to depend on ourselves hence we are sold , hook, line and sinker to our desires and emotions and allow them control our lives .
tbh as a commoner id never understand the metric of success in film industry because i look at both of her films they both had roughly 5 cr of budget and 5x the amount in box office, isnt that pretty successful that it managed to earn more than the budget?
Wish you would make a movie of mental domestic abuse that is normalised in Indian households.....like husband is good man but bad husband cos he is not physically abusing wife but there is a constant disrespect, he is a doctor, she is a teacher..... apparently all hunky dory but below, there is rampant science vs arts bias, wife has financial independence but feels that she is treated like a housekeeper instead of a wife ....lots of petty issues blowing up and creating huge chasms
Somebody should ask them as to who pays for the housewife's bills as regards food, clothes, shelter, electricity and internet, health and other miscellaneous expenses??? If the breadwinner is supposed to pay the homemaker, then should the homemaker pay the breadwinner for footing the aforesaid bills??? They can't even differentiate between an employee who works for others and a homemaker, who performs chores for her own home and family.
Am a fan of Aamir since ages, have followed Kiran since she became his wife, loved both her films, watched her interviews from three months back -- but am skipping this one. Read enough about it to wonder why the media and Madam Kiran are talking ad nsuseum on the same subject -- her relationship with ex spouse Aamir. Put a sock in it, please.
No ... why would you think that?! Their relationship was consensual n equal. They were together for 20yrs and are still still friends n family together! #metoo is a serious matter n not something frivolous to label any relationships that had started at a workplace. #metoo is about a person taking advantage of their position of power to sexually harass/assault others at a disadvantage and constantly getting away with it

@@lailasiddiqui263 you guys won't do anything for the society but would be the first to critique people who want to make a change.
Get a "real-life"
@@lailasiddiqui263What a horrid reply defaming Aamir. No, ee do not think of Aamir as a hypocrite.
could you please share the link or details of the documentry on youtube?
@@LS5565 Yes Madam. And I will stand my ground.

Happy with the limelight Kiran is getting. She deserved it. I wish the same for the story writer and screenplay writer.
That last answer about fleeting moments...was GOLD!!
I feel like both of you have similar energy which is being awesome 👏🏽
What a genuine, warm conversation … resonated in so many places … Hats off to you Faye for making such conversations happen … thank you.
Wow. I totally relate to this conversation which no one speaks about and doesn’t think about at all.
Great job with these interviews! Real conversations make everyone feel more inspired and less lonely.
A 45 min conversation on manga / anime with my son, where I don’t understand much is such a hard relate!! 💙
Such an honest conversation......I could relate to everything that is being said...
Thank you so much for your support!
What a director! We love Kiran Rao.
Respect for Kiran Rao as an artist! What a direction❤❤❤
Loved this one. The whole discussion was so refreshing and insightful. Thanks to Faye and team.

My mother told me about apprehensions about sexual harrassment at work for her to stay at home. I am glad that a law was passed finally against this..

A great movie.
Hey @faye the audio quality could be better. It fluctuates between you two. 😊
Hi, Faye! Fantastic work! Just one suggestion, please insert timestamps.

If housewife don't get paid then who pays house all bills and housewife all bills and kids all bills. Feminist are provoking women against men
Don't know why but that captain america tshirt is triggering me
Life after Aamir Khan? and not just any other divorce?
She feels unsafe though
Faye, replace your sound guy. S/he's a mess. First it's was the Farhan Ep, now this. It can't be that complicated to figure out.
If a husband has to pay his wife a salary, the wife will have to the husband rent for accommodation and food , electricity and water charges
Birthday celebs should be banned Faye...its so stupid...
Somebody should ask them as to who pays for the housewife's bills as regards food, clothes, shelter, electricity and internet, health and other miscellaneous expenses??? women......
Yes, women. You seem to be cosplaying as one too. What's your problem?

Nice film. But on an unrelated note. Given that Kiran was an employee of Amir Khan, wouldn't their affair be called #metoo today?
No ... why would you think that?! Their relationship was consensual n equal. They were together for 20yrs and are still still friends n family together!
#metoo is a serious matter n not something frivolous to label any relationships that had started at a workplace.
#metoo is about a person taking advantage of their position of power to sexually harass/assault others at a disadvantage and constantly getting away with it
Please elaborate on your understanding of #metoo..
Aamir Khan was quick to drop Kiran, once she “aged out”.
