Hey guys just a few notes here. Many of the Diablo partners are my friends and people that I have only love, respect, and gratitude for their existence. I was not trying to say they are fake. I meant that I have a lot of controversial takes and because of them, my morals and outspoken opinions I don’t even want to partner with Blizzard. I apologize I came across that way towards them. They will always have my blessing. I love all of them very much and I try to send donations and express my love for them as much as I can when I am on social media. I also was not trying to speak for everyone. I recorded this video in 15 minutes and tried to just upload a quick video. Later on I noticed I was speaking too much in a way of acting like I was representing everyone and I apologize for that. I value all feedback and I appreciate even the negative comments so I can improve myself and the content I make and better the universe of Diablo we all love. Diablo is my love, my passion, and I have only gratitude for every opinion and all of you. I’m sure Diablo 4 is going to be an amazing game and even though some of that spark from Diablo 2 is missing it’s a new game and we should all be grateful after all these years we have a new game. Sending you all my eternal love! Ps study quantum physics ❤

If anyone is claiming that you dislike or hate the content creators you mentioned, they're just making unfounded assumptions. No one with a brain is assuming you're saying this. But you can't deny that, in the video, you are insinuating that these content creators are withholding critical opinions because they don't want to lose their partnership with Blizzard. That's where people have a problem. You don't actually know if this is true. LlamaSC has voiced more critical opinions about Diablo2 and Diablo4 on his streams and in his youtube videos in the past few weeks that you have in this video. So have a lot of the MaxRoll guys.
Also, at it's core, D4 is a RNG-based looting game, so no one really knows what you're going on about with RNG not being present in D4.

But you failed 100% in this video though. You were trying to speak for every diablo 2 player on top of not trying to say the diablo partners are fake. You did imply that. Also not everyone hated Diablo 3 even it before it came out. you are 100% delusional if you thought that. Majority of people who hated Diablo 3 hated that game afterwards. Also I don't believe you when you said Diablo 2 had 40K players in 2016 I think you are talking bullshit like you did throughout the video.

What game of Diablo 2 did you play? How is it a different experience each time? If I start 20 barbarians and get them all to bloodraven, do you think I'm gonna end up with 20 different stories to tell? The world has 2 different versions. Either the world faces left or it faces right. If you have played as much as you claim, then you know this. Yeah the rooms are arranged differently, but if you've done a dungeon once, you already know how to beat it. It's not like there are random puzzles. It has infinite replay ability because you may really want an axe but keep getting legendary swords so you give up and go sword. That's the kinda choices you are forced into due to bad rng. Most of Diablo 2 was spent killing one boss over and over to try and get some loot. That's the core game play. That's the same core game play as d3 and d4. By the way maybe don't quote people who believe they cured a broken spine with the power of meditation and people will take it seriously.

I played D2 for SO MANY hours. I bought it day 1, played the hell out of it, bought LOD day 1, played the hell out of it and it's great. Hell even up to last year, I was going back between lulls in my other games...but you are categorically wrong on your repetitive use of "RNG" and the use of the word "repetitive".
Here is how both stack up:
    D2:
    1. Find a build that can MF early into late (usually sorc due to tele)
    2. Run a build off of Maxroll that mins/maxes.
    3. Run the same areas over and over (the definition of repetitive) that your build excels in.
    4. That means TYPICALLY running areas that tend to have the highest % drop chance of high runes. (i.e. Cows, Countess, Pit etc)
    5. Build your weapon or armor runeword and feed other classes
    6. EVERYTHING is RNG
    D4:
    1. Find a character that might be able to kill quick (might be sorc with Tele, but could be a quick rogue)
    2. run some dungeons and world bosses
    3. Grind for essences
    4. Grind for rares with the perfect affixes
    5. EVERYTHING is RNG
We get it, you like D2, but there is no denying that D2 is repetitive and mind-numbingly boring. At least fights in D4 will have mechanics that require some thought.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with trading; I've played D1 & D2 since their inception. I've never wanted to trade and always felt like it was a cheat to the game. If you can't find the loot in game, then that's a failure of the game. Especially considering how many people were using loot and character editor apps to make over-the-top items & selling to them. So some people wouldn't genuinely work their way up the ladder. It's also why I have avoided group play; I spent time working my way up in game & then suddenly someone shows up with ridiculous stats, they too easily smite everything ruining the game for everyone else. I'm looking forward to D4.

This is btw one aspect I really not a fan of and I blame the MMO community pressure (as those guys all about playing one characters for thousands of hours) that D4 is a lot more planed around "endgame activities" and endless "dungeon farming" instead of actual replayability. I think ppl will wise up to the fact that playing the same 6 skills for 100-150 hours might just get boring after a while.

The rng maps are missing, trade is missing, but more importantly: proper lvld areas and appropriate loot is missing. The concept that on lvl 30 I feel weaker than lvl 10 because nomatter where you go, even the BASIC mobs scale with you is a horrendous concept.
Doesn't matter where you go or what to do the fighting above lvl 20 almost always feels the same there is no sense of progression after that becsuse no matter what you do, you won't get lvl appropriate gear, but you do get 1:1 lvl scaling.
When I look back to early areas like the starter section and I see lvl43, I laugh it's such a pathetic system.
The concept that the certain dungeons even lvl over you, so you can never lvl up enough to just casually molch through those basters is ridiculous.
If they were to remove the scaling and properly set up AREAS or at least give lvl appropriate loot, this could be fun.
His way it's fun...but with an endless layer of chores.
When I have to shoot a fallen 12 to die if I don't use at least 3 abilities, is just stupid.
The base goblins ment for the sweet feeling of massacre of being feeling badass.
Fully equipped with legendary items, lvl43 should feel epic, but other than the story it feels like a chore.
Still have no idea with the potion/doodging system how to hell beat the butcher without allies.

I have been playing Diablo 1, 2, and 3 for 20 years now. I enjoy all the games. However, one thing I don't like about D2 is trading. I don't like the idea that items are so rare that it's almost impossible to obtain them through solo self-found play, but when I play ladder, I can easily acquire them through trading. While playing ladder, there have been times when I felt that trading was actually more important than the gameplay itself. For example, after playing the whole weekend, the only high rune I found was Gul, but during that time, I earned something like Lo through trading, not from items that dropped for me, but from items I bought cheaply and sold at a higher price elsewhere. From this perspective, it feels like a partially economic simulator of the real world full of speculation. And yes, I can say that I don't like trading, and I believe that removing the auction house from Diablo 3 some time after its launch was the best move Blizzard made.

I too have been playing all the games for over 20 years. I have no idea what you're talking about when you say "easily" acquire them through trading. For context of other readers, he must either be talking about non-ladder or he just joined the ladder late in the season, neither situations are good portrayals of the trading mechanic and how it affects the game. When a new season starts, trading is a very strong mechanic from Diablo 2 and the fact that your best chances at obtaining the rarest items in the game is through personal interaction with other players is incredible and I would be blown away if anyone could name another game with that good of a trading mechanic. Back to the point about later-season and non-ladder: sure, I agree with your point when the season nears its end like that. It's kind of lame when people are throwing around treasure like it's nothing. But that's a normal and very deeply studied issue in these types of games. But out of all the possible solutions, I think item binding, auction houses, etc.. are ridiculously lame. So lame it's shocking. Diablo 2's trading system paired with the seasonal/ladder aspect outshines the competitors not even by a little bit, but it completely blows other game's solutions out of the water. And that's laughable considering that Diablo 2 came out first before all of these competitors. I'm not even really convinced you played Diablo 2 that much, otherwise you would have known all of this already. Maybe you've just had unlucky timing and always show up late to the season.

@@JamCamAbreu I mean speculation utilizing two market principles - price changes over time and price range. Both are particularly evident at the beginning of the ladder rather than at its end. An example of speculation on price change: I'm lucky, and on the first day of the ladder, I find a Shako and sell it, for example, for an Ohm. Since I want a Shako myself, I buy it the next day for a Vex, and suddenly I have both the Shako + (Ohm-Vex).
The price range is very apparent with high runes. Essentially, there is no such thing as a fixed price at any given moment, but prices fluctuate within a certain range around a "fair" price. For example, a typical price for Lo is 9-12 Ist. This means that it is relatively easy to buy Lo for 10 Ist and sell it for 11 Ist because both prices are considered fair by players. The range is even greater for Jah, usually around 18-30 Ist. This means that I will likely be able to buy Jah for 22 Ist and sell it for 25 Ist without offending anyone.
For example, in Season 2 of D2R I put together a build with HOTO, Mara, SOJ, Arach, Enigma, Phoenix, Infinity, Fortitude, a full inventory of skillers, almost perfect Annihilus, and a Torch in the first few weeks of the ladder, and I consistently ranked in the top 100 on the class ladder, all while having a full-time job and a wife. If I were to do that in a solo self-found game, it would take me a year. The only thing I'm saying is that I don't like trading in the game because knowing prices is often one of the most important skills for building wealth and I don't like spending time trading when I want to play.

The excitement was the low drop rate for those who enjoyed it ofc, which valued the trading and almost a MUST for players that would at least find something of a value could get more close to the gear they wanted. You could farm for hours or days without finding anything. Players even stopped playing the game because of that frustration but came back later for hunger to hunt.
Ladder was the only way to keep the game exciting or going. But IMO diablo 2 content is outdated now because it's repetitive to play Chaos, uber, baal runs and 85 areas all over without other end game contents.
Pd2 adapted d2 as it should have been, with maps.. Slams.. Way more content.

Yeah, you nailed it. The biggest issue in DIV is the blockers from becoming more powerful. DII: Find sweet item -> use it -> more powerful. DIV: Find sweet item -> uh oh, do I have the resources to imprint? If not, need to farm for 35 minutes to get it... while that sweet item is sitting there collecting dust. -> OK, now imprint. -> Uh oh, do I have enough resources to craft my item further, increasing its stats (because a better item may not be better until crafted...). If not, need to farm for 35 minutes to get it... while sweet item is sitting there collecting dust. -> OK, equip it now. Wait a second, I made an error! My old weapon was actually better. Yikes. That sounds like SUCH an upgrade from, "Found it, let's slap this bad boy on right away. Sweet." Or "Let's just try this out and see if it does better, comparing it to what I currently have." This crafting issue has only grown larger and larger as they implement additional crafting that is necessary for a sweet item you find to be able to go on your character for use. Not just imprinting but masterworking and whatever the other thing is. And now... throw in the necessity for your gear to always need those non-rune runes put in. Basically, every item I find makes me groan. "Ehhh, I have to do a bunch of junk in town for 20 minutes now."
    Some other antifun designs:
    * In DII, you can theoretically find two ber runes in one run. Or you might find zero in 3 weeks. Awesome. In DIV, they applied some corporate funny business so that you are always gaining power at a steady rate. I feel like I'm on a wheel exercising to squeeze out tiny bits of guaranteed power. I'm referring to upgrading your glyphs. It just feels fake and feels like it was designed to waste my time. Yeah, in DII, you still need to play a lot as well. But maybe not... if you find a gg item and trade it for 35 bers. DIV I felt I had to do runs constantly to keep up with my friends. DII, I feel like we all just get our jackpots at random times and power up whenever.
    * In DII, you can find an incredible weapon anywhere other than normal mode. That is awesome, that random spike in power or that random spike from trading that item for what you need. In DIV, again, they applied some kind of smooth corporate timewasting formula to guarantee you are always gaining some but never too much. "Cool, I just got a weapon that went from 5.2% more damage to 5.7% more damage!" (Yes, there are exceptions like when you do your first helltide after transitioning difficulties... yeah, that one instance, you double your damage with the first weapon you find! Great! Oh, but it isn't special, because you find that item almost deterministically in 10 minutes. Yay! And then... uh oh... throw in that central problem based around crafting... you constantly get tiny upgrades and constantly have to sit in town counting materials, slapping this one that, adding a new affix at random, masterworking, and now, popping in "runes."
    * Let's talk explicitly about crafting resources. When I play a Diablo game, I want to be slaying stuff I want to slay within reason. I'm after experience, loot, a cool area, a challenge, and whatever else. Uh oh, time to upgrade my potion. I need to run around the never-used "open world" to collect flowers. Such fun! Yay!!
    * Every item looks the same. Speaking of sitting in town to craft, I have to wade through dozens of items every 15 minutes. Every single one of them might have a legendary power I need to upgrade or might have an extra affix to make it match 3 instead of 2 I want or 4 instead of 3. Scanning, analyzing, feeling like I'm doing a literal job. Diablo 2, on the other hand, did that masterful design of making a handful of uniques BiS combined with me needing to look out for like 5 bases combined with picking up some rare gloves I find every 30 minutes. Basically, there is more scanning at a higher level rather than a granular level. I'm perfectly fine with looking at 10 items on the ground every minute with 99% of it being total trash. And then with picking up literally 1 item every few minutes to THEN investigate what is on it. I DO NOT want to pick up every single damn item and analyze its combination of affixes over and over and over and over. Fun versus WORK. (They did improve this predicament slightly by removing the need to keep legendary powers stuffed in your stash for imprinting. After I first played DIV, I thought that is what they should do, and it is. Thank God they aren't making PURELY bad choices.)
    * Overly complex equations. I know playing for 300 hours might help remedy this a bit, but more or less, I have zero way to intuitively decide between a piece of gear with 2 affixes that are 3rd and 4th place versus one item that has my #1 needed affix. Or to make any choices at all really. DIV is MASSIVELY complex. Optimal play has a mind aware of their entire paragon board mixed in with all of their gear glowing with imprinted powers. OK, listen. This just means, "Hah, we made a Mensa IQ test... AKA just look up solved answers to the puzzle and plug it in. Keep farming slowly and inefficiently until you know you are right by virtue of every single thing you have matching the guide completely. EVERYONE has to just look for the perfect 3 or 4 affix item to KNOW they are upgrading. No one actually knows. DII is more like, "I want damage. I like resistances. I like + to skills. Oh, +stats, nice. This stat helps me block/hit. This stat gives me flat HP. FCR/IAS... makes sense. The damage equation is basically {damage} times {speed of dishing out damage}. I can reason with that. I AM ACTUALLY SOLVING A PUZZLE instead of blinding choosing between items and paragon paths. Remember "bucket theory"?. Jesus, the game's most devoted players had a THEORY about damage! Congratulations on everyone who did well in DIV though! What fun it must have been having no idea what you were doing, so you just farmed for 100s of hours until you got gear with all four affixes the guide to you about!!! That way, you know you have good equipment regardless of how opaque the equations are/were.
    * Speaking of a smooth experience where it all feels synthetic and designed to waste time, I almost never felt like I was getting stronger. Just read the skill descriptions. "1% more damage". I want to see my damage jump up when I level up and then slam down everything I was struggling with. Just no fun. Throw into it the dynamic leveling... I linked up with a friend when I was level 13 and he was level 1. WE DID THE SAME DAMAGE. Great! What fun that is. I sure feel strong now. And then... the flat stats of Lilith statues on the next season. You LITERALLY grow weaker as that flat buff to your stats becomes a smaller % of your total stat. 1 hitting... 2 hitting... now I have to do 3-4 hits. Jeeze, I wish I didn't level up!
    * I dislike how monsters just come out of the ground. It makes the game feel like an MMO instead of a Diablo. I much enjoy entering an area and seeing dudes standing there.
    * Just every goal in the game is synthetic and gradual. It's like "Step 1: Collect 6 hands. Step 2: Collect 6 heads.... step 5: "Target farm" my unique... as in just get it guaranteed as I put in that 40 minutes of work! Yay!!! And the equation they have is so clearly manipulative and similar to that always. Just keep strapping on "rituals" so that players can feel like they are good. They have memorized from streamers all the 37 steps! And those steps grow every season/expansion. Yay!!! Let's make the game unplayable to new players... that way, when your friend joins in, you can so clearly see how much "better" at DIV you are than him! Feels good, right? DII: We are just slaying. Heal up, attack. Kill stuff to get sweet loot. Keep taking on stronger dudes and getting better drops. It's so much easier to describe. "Hey, the 5 bosses have a better chance for uniques, so we slay them specifically." "OK, Countess drops some runes [SOMETIMES]." That's about all the sacred knowledge you need to play DII unless you are going for a holy grail. DIV is spilling over with that type of garbage and solely to make people feel like they are cool/in an in group/good at the game. Nah, man. You just memorized the 37-step sequence from a big streamer. Game is not fun.
    * Dungeons just felt awful. You were just in this tiny tunnel and when it split, you'd think, "Ahhh man, I'm probably going to have to backtrack. And I'm tired of releasing these hostages and collecting two keys. It's... again... just synthetic busy work MEANT to waste time. Let me just slay and game ffs.
    * All the side quests sucked hardcore and were repetitive. Just busy WORK. The GAME FEELS LIKE WORK. The Director of D, motivated by the corporate metric of "minutes played," said "You'll have to do them again next season. I think they're fun." Before that, he actually thought we'd collect Liliths AGAIN despite it being my least favorite gaming I have ever done in the last decade. At least their testing forced them to hack in a hotfix to bring over that trash from the prior season. But stay aware: HE WANTED TO WASTE YOUR TIME, SO HE CAN SHOW THE CEO, "Durrr, look at da minutes played, boss, durrr."

    1. D2 was pretty casual. How? Because if you had opposable thumbs you could get a character to level 80, having beaten all difficulty levels, and had a fun and rewarding experience. Nothing was gated by time or skill. You could just play. You didn't need the best drops to have a great experience. It could ALSO cater to the more hardcore audience because of the really awesome drops. The loot, was of course what motivated everyone the most.
    2. Trading. I never traded in D2, except with friends, and had a great time. I hated how trade was mandatory in Poe. I also hate the idea of "soul bound" items that prevents you from helping friends and sharing loot. I think this takes away from the experience. Again, D2 did this well -- it was not mandatory but could help.
I have to say that none of the things you mentioned would make me hate D4. However, I do despise the WoW-ification of the franchise, which is what I felt immediately in D3 and hated. I think we have different definitions of what that entails. That's the crux or the problem. We all like different stuff, and while our preferences may have incidentally aligned in D2, if they don't aligned with where the mass market is in 2023, none of that matters.

Unfortunately you wont know that playing D2R. D2R is a neutered version of D2 LOD. You can play it and yes its the same game but it doesn't FEEL the same. A lot of people don't talk about how JANK D2 LOD and especially D1 was back in the day.
BUT... It wasn't a bad jank... Sure D1 and D2 had their problems. But the game had soul. D1 was like the wild west with the amount of hackers. Killing another player had more hardcore features to it. Like in D1 if you joined a game and decided to attack the people in it. If you killed them they dropped ALL gear... You could steal all their shit. Also, playing as a team, things like sorcerers spells and magic had friendly fire and could kill your teammates pretty easily if you weren't careful. Because there were so many hackers there was also giant groups of legit only players. Clans and stuff. You added people to your friends list without their permission and you could track them where ever they go. Join their game and kill them and take their stuff. Or sit in town and troll them into a duel. D1 was great, but not because of the core game itself, but because of the world the broken game created for the players.
And D2 was bad as well. Bots was a huge deal and yes early D2 days hackers was still a huge problem. But pvp wasn't as hardcore so a lot of hackers didn't PVP instead they created bots to item farm for them around the clock. You could join these games and everyone did and rush your levels by 10-15 in a couple hours just standing there while bots killed baal over and over again. Some let you get all the loot. Some took certain items for RMT. Either way. In oldschool D2 once you got to a certain level you could beast mode up real quick. Then it all came down to hunting for certain items and trying to find trades for the shit you have. Same deal tho. The things that made d2 a mess, made it awesome and people dont seem to get it.
D2R.. its okay... But its vanilla. You actually gotta grind now. You cant just join games and farm loot off of bots anymore. So finding items is 100x slower. and in some ways down right impossible anymore. Soj''s for example are an item barely anyone ever FOUND most of the time that was an item you would HAVE to trade for with a hacker or a RMT type of guy.
Because of them fixing D2 with D2R now it gets kind of boring. Takes a little to long. Sometimes fixing shit, is making it worse ya feels.

[Warning! Tis comment is not hate towards you, nor your video @xtimus]
Hey @xtimus, your arguments are not based on facts my friend, and I will tell ya why:
first of all, same as you, Xtimus, I am a long term veteran of Diablo franchise, and have played D2 for more than two decades.
secondly D4 is closer to D2 than you ever imagine.
    Here are my arguments:
    -you said NO trading, untrue, you can trade yellow items, gold and elixirs (even the trade page is similar with d2);
    -you said NO RNG, untrue, all these yellow items have stats with various numbers;
-you said NO random dungeons, untrue, all dungeons have randomized layouts, with at least 6-9 spawns; d2 zones are random generated maps with a maximum of 4 possible layouts, let me give ya some examples; burial grounds (you have 4 corners where you can find the entrance); forgotten tower (every level is on left from entrance and you have 4 possible layouts); arcane sanctuary (4 possible ways to find the summoner); worldstone level 2 to 3 (right from wp; 4 possible layouts). etc.
-you said that dungeons in d4 are repetitive and boring, untrue, does the grinding spots from d2 are not repetitive? for many other people rather than us, the d2 players, they found grinding in d2 boring, compared with other titles; same as d2, to find currency in d4 you need to farm specific grinding spots, that would be anything from dungeons to events.
-the mobs are similar to d2, you have groups of mobs led by one elite; as for dungeons, lets compare, as an example, ancient tunnels from d2 with khazra den from d4, in AT you get alot of zombies, connected with the desert you are in, in d4 if the dungeon is a khazra place, you will never find other mobs rather than khazra; same as d2, you have special mobs particularly made for d4 dungeons.
-the open world aspect, again untrue, some dungeons have better loot than others, as in d2, see Pit Cave, Ancient Tunnels, Arcane, Chaos etc; from when d2 is an open world game? are you serious?! yes, you have freedom to go everywhere, but between cities you don't have any roads like in d4, that's open world; you are not forced to play the main quests like in d2 and you can travel freely everywhere, that's open world (in d2 you can't go from a1 to a5 without defeating one time the act bosses) - you can level up by doing any activity in the game; also, d4 is a large singular map splat in 5 huge zones interconnected (acts), making d4 as an open world arpg.
-even the damage, potions, health, skill trees and many other aspects of d4 are closer to d2, also in d4 same as in d2 when you find an upgrade you feel it.
d4 is a mixture of all diablo games, and it could be the best open world arpg on the market.
in my humble opinion, this game is not meant for d3-only players or for people without d2 experience, that's because of it's d2 core base.
PS: Next time when you create something new, please speak for yourself.

You don't speak for all D2 players. I was a D2 player back in the day. I am extremely excited for D4 and very much enjoyed the betas. I like the non-linear open world approach, the faster-paced combat, among many other aspects of the game. Also, you should replace "you" with "I". Because all you're doing is describing your own personal experience with the game. And I think with some things, you're exaggerating for sure. Not every moment was different in D2. The game was pretty repetitive. Yes there is RNG for loot and map layouts, but ultimately the gameplay was the same.
Additionally, something I don't think you're taking into consideration is the fact that we haven't actually fully experienced D4. We've only experienced the prologue and Act I and we were capped at level 20. Which brings me to my next point, you said D4 doesn't feel as open world as D2 because there are barriers? That's because it was only beta and they had everything locked down. I can't tell if you're legitimately overlooking this, or just intentionally ignoring it because it doesn't drive your narrative. You should know full well the game's world was locked down because of beta. They only wanted us to experience the prologue and Act I. Finally, and I'll end it with this, what is wrong with developers implementing systems that might cater to casual players? I don't see anything wrong with that. Most people have lives outside of games and we enjoy it. It's not our fault some choose not to.
There are so many other points you made that I find extraordinarily flawed and would love to point out, but I simply don't have time, and it would appear other people have already pointed them out, anyway. This comparison of yours is absolutely ridiculous, and predicated on various misconceptions and ignorance, and some of it I think is just you being disingenous.

Tell me you never played WoW without telling me. You know one of the main aspects why WoW became less and less popular is because the Diablo devs took WoW on and changed it to be more like Diablo with stupid RNG that makes zero sense suddenly there are 5 different version of your BIS gear and it just made everything more tedious. WoW is a game where you work towards a certain goal and not who has the most legendaries and can kill the most demons.
It became more and more Diablo like to the point where someone with the exact same gear as you could get lucky and have the gear powered up when he obtained it to be like 3 or 4 times as good as the gear without "Titanforging". It's the stupid Diablo mechanic with Legendaries, Ancient Legendaries and Primal Ancient Legendaries and it made around 70% of people quit. WoW didn't ruin Diablo. Diablo ruined WoW.

i dont know when in the wow timeline you were talking about but its probably after diablo 3. so wow "mentality" changed diablo 3 and they saw that how "successful" diablo 3 was and they went and re-fucked wow retail im guessing.

The D3 devs took on WoW and after that we had Warforged and Titanforged gear that was a better version of the normal gear piece and this upgrade was completely rng when you got it.
This happened together with the upgrades Heroic and Mythic gives you so your piece could be immensely better when you got a bit lucky than someone that actually was regularly clearing the raid. And there was no way to predict this. This is clearly a D3 mechanic.
So yeah D3 changed WoW but I never saw how WoW changed D3. All I heard from D3 is that people didn't like that it wasn't as edgy and "too easy" but that is a complaint I never take seriously because people are always free to make a game harder for themselves.

there was never a "mainstat" system in d2. main stat was a "wow" thing as well. or should i say warcraft thing. in d2 stats like strength and dex were just there to wear gear. dex was for block chance and hit rate. starting in d3 "mainstat" was pure damage. if your mainstat was dex you better fucking put dex or you have no dmg. that was never a thing. also the rubbing of hands to cast a town portal (hearth) and even identifying stuff etc. in d2 you just used a scroll of ID and it just identified or a scroll of town portal and you opened a portal. there was no "rubbing hands wow crafting animation" its not a diablo thing. potions never had a fucking 45 second cooldown in diablo. you can chug as much as you want but it just healed you over time and you can still die during it. wow had potion cooldowns. skills in d2 almost never had long CDs or any at all. barely like a 1-2 second animation lockout. D3 had semi long CDs like wow. 12 seconds. 20 seconds and other shit
i could list more but its long and some finer details i dont rmb due to it being too long ago. also from what you are saying i dont think you "know" diablo remotely if you cant see how much d3 was influenced by 'wow". those reasons above are just features i remember offhand

The game level 60 and 70 or rather a more satisfying number as a max level is a design choice so a players don't feel overwhelmed. We had level 120 in WoW gradually over the years and you started with 99? Sounds like a poor design choice that got fixed. You got paragons instead in D3 where there is no max level at all so keep going. In WoW the max level got reduced for the same reason.
There are mainstats for classes in every game dude because a Barbarian doesn't use intellect. Never played RPGs before? It also didn't make sense to give warriors mana if you wanna talk about that. In WoW different stats also make different things you don't go for straight strength as a warrior it's your damage stat yes but there is stuff like critical hit chance and mastery that are more valuable.
WoW also has a skill tree AND learns stuff with level so again it shows you know nothing. You're mad potions have a cooldown? So you can't spam them anymore and have to plan ahead and think more about what you're doing?
You know remotely nothing about WoW which just shows that D3 is not more influenced from WoW than from Starcraft or the Lost Vikings.

Regarding trading: keep in mind that the higher the playerbase of a game is, the bigger the market. Which means that at a certain number of players, drops you find will have no value on the market, unless the drop rate of that item is reaaaally-reaaally low. So low, that you would never find them. The reason why you could have valuable runes in D2 is because D2 never had such high active player numbers participating in the market in the first place. In fact there wasn't even a centralized market. That's also what helped D2 items keep their value. If you had a centralized global Auction House for example, which is of course very accessible, it would allow all the players' drops to flood the market, making the supply so huge that uniques like Shako would lose their value on day 1. Just imagine, you would get no excitement at all when finding a jah rune, because it would have no value. That's why trade limitations and gold sinks are necessary in online games with huge markets.

As a huge D2 fan myself i have to give some comments about your video. The no trade actually came from the following - first of, no arpg to this date has actually solved trading. D2 trading was usually a shitshow of 80% duped runes and items 10% rmt and 10% scams. It was that for years during the development of d3 So the implementation of the auction house (not the real money one) was actually seen as a relieve at first for most players. While still concercing that interaction between individual players will suffer, it was a light at the end of the tunnel to trading actually working, as it is supposed to. Problem was .... Diablo was never a game with a fixed currency like an mmo. Diablo has no real economy, but the idea is trading items against items and that is simply not solvable by any UI in the world giving developers problems to this day (POE and D2 trading only works with external tools and community work). Also it was found that it was very unsatisfying to get all your item upgrades by spending gold in an auction house. So the devs looked at a solution in other games (increase drop chances but make loot bound to the character). Since having non instanced loot dropping WITHOUT trading feels very bad it was then also instanced since a non class drop would be worthless. All the changes where actually welcomed by the players at that time and seemed like a logical conclusion to the itemization problem d3 had. But the end result was a completly new system that had almost nothing to do with D2. BUT at least it got rid of rmt and scammers. In d4 the endgame itemization consists of uniques and mostly yellow items (the yellow ones are tradable) so it will be interesting to see how this turns out since in theory this would allow RMT again. And RMT is a REAL enemy of modern gaming. Look at lost ark for example - RMT is everywhere and because of this bots are running rampant (remember the old battlenet spam when you had a open game for trade). In a modern game it would be 90% bots running around no matter how strict you ban, so D2 trading is just not worth it sadly. So the only sensible option that most developers have is, make RMT useless - no RMT = no bots = better player experience. So the real enemys here are actually the players that played D2 in the past that then spend 99 cents on ebay buying an enigma. A problem that was only created by having such low droprates to begin with, but at the same time the reason why we play d2 for decades now.

You’re constantly putting yourself on a high horse (how about some self reflection over mysticism) and the way you equate it to quantum physics / spirituality is pretentious AF. Funny thing is that I’m even receptive to that and always welcome connections made to the deeper strands of reality, however you completely failed to acknowledge how that’s applicable TO EVERYTHING AND EVERY GAME OUT THERE. The „Blizz does that cause moneyz“ tunnelvision get‘s stale, why personal loot is supposed to erase the sense of accomplishment is completely unelaborated (though I think, I see your point, yet it’s an overstatement / you‘re putting it wrong). An argument on how non-trading would or would not appeal to a wider audience, could be made either way. „And for some reason, Blizzard still thinks the game was a success“ bullshit hypothesis. What are you, 12? There are *many* reasons why trading may not be in there, including to cut development costs / focus on what they feel matters.

I think you didn't get that this video was being sarcastic.
It should have been pretty obvious when he said "With my studies of quantum physics and my spiritual journey"

Wow, knowledge must be a bit of a curse, I only played Diablo for the first time this year and had heard a lot of the hate for D3.
Didn't hugely enjoy D2 and worried if that was the better one, then I'd hate D3.
Played it anyways out of curiosity and honestly loved it, so looking forward to D4

D2 is not the "best game of all time." I grew up on D2 and it was a a slept on Elden ring of its time that paved the way for many games that we have today. Given how great the game was it still had its shortcomings. I think you are more connected to the memories you have while playing the game and how your life was going at the time more than the game itself. I love the game. It was great. But its not the greatest game of all time. It did its job and is the reason an arguably better game like POE even exists.

Diablo is woke now. Female empowerment, lots of black characters without regional context. And ofc broken crying horqdrim, Luke skywalker2.0.
This is their worst story so far

I agree with your conclusions but not your reasoning to get there--but it's true, D2 LoD is the peak of the franchise. D3 was an abysmal let down and D4 is even worse. (Despite being absurdly lucrative for the company)

A side from minor things I don't have big problems with D4 than those:
    - It's a MMO lite where you will always meet randoms in your world, no singleplayer mode, no offline mode, you're buying the service, not buying the 'game'.
    - It selling premium battlepasses and cash shop with it's $70 game. This practice pattern is scary, I won't surprise if next Diablo game will be $80 $90 $100 with full monetizations

I don't know about 90% wanting trading. I don't. Several of my friends don't want it either. Maybe more do than don't but honestly I'm glad there is limited trading in D4. Nerfs RMT and there's no pressure to give items to other people.
