Same here brother 😂😂😂 on Fifa I could challenge the Legendary difficulty without sweating bullets, but EA FC 24 is unforgiving or maybe its a whole new level of a paradigm shift when it comes to EA Sports football games.

Wow. Completely fixed my defending up. Still concede ovs but the amount I’m conceding is drastically less and the level of the goals they score is much higher. Thankyou 👏🏻

I feel like player switching is so awkward this year. I've tried the new settings: classic, goals side, nearest to ball.. but it seems like it always switch to the wrong player

Use right stick in your defensive third. Really it's a mix of the two.
right stick is broken for sure, it goes forward -> defense all the time without going through your midfield, it's fucking weird I had no issue last year

Jockeying feels like youre stuck in mud sometimes LS dribbling feels like that too. Idk about you but the pitch feels congested in the middle. The ball Always bounces off people and interceptions you get about 3x more than last fifa per game

I haven’t played fifa in about 6-7 years, to say the game has evolved and improved over that time and became more advanced and in depth is a huge understatement. I got some learning curve to go on

The last fifa played was fifa 17. I remember defending was much easier. If your player was fast you could just spam R2 and get through anyone

This is my first fifa game and yeah felt decent going into my first pvp game...lost 8-0 haha.
Your last FIFA being FIFA 19 isn't the problem! Since FIFA 13 the last one I properly played was FIFA 22. I didn't play FIFA 23 for almost it's entirety, 2 weeks ago I played at my cousins' house against both of them, who play it loads and are pretty good at the game. 8 times out of 10 I beat them. Now I'm playing EA FC 24 and getting smashed most games. By that I mean I'm losing 3-1, but I'll have 2 shots my opponent will have 10 or 15 shots. I've no clue what the issue is

R1 dribbling is absolutely king if you can master it which is not hard. It's just the years of not using R1 as much that's the tricky part for me. But controlled sprinting is absolutely awesome.

I'm pretty bad at defending 🤣 now it makes a lot of sense, I'm always mashing X or O which is exactly what I'm seeing here, getting caught short at the back and players out of position.
I mostly play AI squad battles but I don't play online as I'm not great against other people 😅 I'll definitely be trying this out. The sliding makes sense now too, I always thought it was off timed as I'm ALWAYS catching the player as they touch the ball ahead in replays and your replay shows exactly why as it's off by a second from input
I skipped one Fifa, come back and defending was so much more difficult, I was so confused, really needed this

The advance defending is so tough. I’m used to pressing only l2 for jockey. I didn’t even know r2l2 is running jockey. Thanks mate this video is much needed. Please feel free to call my wife for a good time any time.
You had to be careful with sprint jockey in the past to avoid overcommitting.

I speak for everyone when I say the fact that you can literally walk down the field and it’s your back to players and the keep at the end and walk the ball in is insane.
Had the best pack luck ever so far from squad battles and objective rewards. Around 6 meta walkouts in my team, yet can’t beat gold common teams.
This will help me a lot as its the first fifa im playing on next gen it feels horrible compared to last gen and im really struggling to get used to it the way you have to play is very different

Mate, I promise you I watched this until the 6:07 mark, played a match and was down 0-2... I ended up winning 6-2. It was utter dominance once I adjusted and saw the impact of the L2&R2 jockey.

This was the most amazing defending video ever.
EXTREMELY useful.
To be completely honest, do not follow every advice as a flow chart, first you have to read the opponent, if he is a dribbler and does skill moves all the time if you try to follow with jockeyrun his exits to stop him you're going to get passed easily, instead just try to stay in the position of the defender and partially use double tap R1 to keep other players marked and make sure he doesn't find a pass... you will see that you'll get the ball automatically.
If he is a slow play maker try to focus on his run to tackle the ball a the right time, but me aware that you have to be a little closer to him.
And is always better that if the player likes to do cutbacks (he gets as close to the end of the pitch to do a pass to the center of the box which there is generally 2 unmarked players) just try to close the pass and preferably he will take a corner instead of a goal

Strength is a big factor in this one.. so if your playing significantly smaller.. i suggest the tackle or slide, other the AI will bully you
GUYS I THINK HE'S THE REASON WHY AM STILL PLAYING FIFA OR CALL IT FC 24 . LET'S LIKE COMENT AND SHARE FOR THIS VIDEO TO GO VIRAL BECAUSE OF THE HEAVY CONTENT IT'S CARRYING .
You should youse advanced defending. The awkard moment at 3.45 was a perfect example, with advanced devending you can press A(xbox) or X(PS) to perform a shoulder push. In that moment you should have pressed A/X to push him from the ball. They make defending more skillfull. So only holding the L2 button wont help you this year.
In that case he could have just pressed the tackle button with Tactical and it would have done the same animation.

Can confirm these tips work. Was in a funk before of bad defence and untimed tackles.

If you're looking for a cheap meta cb go for Todibo if. 83 sprint speed, 6'3" and has both jockey and block playstyles

Idk how many views this will get but another great tip for defending is if you double tap and hold R1 your 2 nearest players will press their man, idk if its a new function but i figured that out in a game

my biggest issue this year seems to be intercepting passes. Half the time I put my player in the passing lane to block a pass, my player doesnt retain possession of the ball when they intecept the pass. It just bounces off their feet and goes back to my opponent and then im out of position and I concede.
are you using players with intercept play styles to retain blocks? i haven’t had that issue with the cards that have the intercept playstyle, which makes sense
I'm class at defending on this game, and useless on the previous ones, turns out I have always defended like this, and it's finally useful😂
This game plays like real football would be. Jockeying attackers away from goal and not comitting yourself by coming out of position.
Previous fifas have always been arcade like.

One problem I always have with this game is that my opponents defense is like a brick wall meanwhile they have to pass 2 times at a max and their already past all my defenders

another reason not to tackle in this game is that if you touch a pixel of your opponent it's an automatic penalty for some reason

I’ve been doing pretty good and no pay to play .. they made it realistic, so ply realistically
I have literally the best defense players and they always seem to be beat in through or lobs like they’re always behind
For me it doesn't work. Even if I don't sprint, my player just go straight, they don't start doing weird stuff, if I move the analog randomly, it will just go to the direction I'm putting. I don't know how my opponent make those weird stuff, even if i stay still and block the pass, they will just start shooting from where they are or just go around my player. Even if I try to stick into the position, my player will just get passed in sprint by anyone, even by Giroud. It's just frustrating.
They NEED to patch that sprint BS. the slowest players end up dusting my fast full backs off of it. they ruined the entire game with this defending seriously.
