Fun fact: Back with the first video recording, which was of a train station, people screamed because they thought a train was going to hit them. So hypotheticly, if we showed them a Michael Bay transformers movie, or End Game they would LOSE IT.
I’m so glad that you included some of Hayaou Miyazaki’s Movies. His movies are my childhood and he is one of my inspirations and also one of the reasons that I’m an animator!
Shelby Mavity I understand. I am home schooled too. She is just trying to protect you. Some parents think that shutting you in protects you from the world. It isn't because she wants you to feel lonely, she wants you to feel safe.
Skimmed over everything 60s until the 90s then you showed almost every year since then. Maybe because that's what we would remember but I still grew up watching Flintstones, Tom & Jerry, etc. Soviet cartoons too.
Seeing the progression was a sight to behold. Awesome job! On a side note, toy story 3 was 2010?! It feels like that was at most three years ago. Time sure flies.
lmao I was talking to a friend about Toy Story 3 several weeks ago and when I mentioned the year it came out he was totally shocked, couldn't believe it was that long ago.
Really nicely done! I do feel as though this could have been slightly better by either being just 'The Evolution of 2D Animation", "A History of Disney Animation" or having more clips from other types of animation earlier on in history. For instance, I feel as though Wallace & Gromit could have come in a little earlier, as I think Aardman are very much pioneers of modern stop-motion, taken to new heights by Laika. I think there was a little too much Disney and not enough of much else, it definitely could have done with Tom & Jerry, anything by Chuck Jones or Tex Avery, perhaps some 60s Hanna-Barbera or even 90s/00s Hanna-Barbera. Granted, Disney are quite literally the pioneers of traditional animation, but it'd have been good to see more breadth of who was inspired by Disney. A peppering of more European and Japanese animation would also benefit this. I hope this is coming across as constructive criticism :-) It is good, it's just it could be even better.
Actually, Fleischer animations were the pioneers, but Disney was much better at marketing and claimed they made the first sound animation, however it was Fleischer who did it first, 2 years earlier. Just a little history lesson.
I actually like this setup because it shows the overall evolution. Like its cool to see that ToyStory started 3d in 1995... Then see that there was a boom of 3d in 2001 onwards with 2d being slightly less relevant.
It's amazing how Disney helped evolved society into the new age. Also should have mentioned Bugs Bunny and Warner bros. That said, the japanese dominated the 1980s in animation but the 1990s were the golden age of disney.
VincentSantellanoYT Boi Actually, animation goes back to the Paleolithic, just search for "Paleolithic animation". But "modern" animation only begins until the 19th century. Also you have forgotten Émile Reynaud, you cannot forget him.
1:09 the iconic one that we’ve all seen when we were younger at the start of Disney films. Me and my sister used it shout MICKEY MOUSE every time we saw this.
Modern anime pretty much originated with Tezuka's studio TV animation in the 60's. There was Japanese animation before that, but they're basically from different schools...
maybe you should put Zootopia in a future, the animators invented a new way to make the fur of the animals more realistic and is the first movie of Disney that have every single character moving in the background instead of freezing
The scene from The Princess and the Frog with doctor Fasciliere shows how great 2D animation could be. Too bad it was the last 2D animated movie Disney will probably ever make.
1:08 the beginning of entertaining animations 1:28 beginning of colour 1:39 beginning of animated movies 3:07 more detailed animaton began 3:19 beginning of 3d 3:29 even better 3d 3:37 more graphics in 2d 4:48 more graphics in 3d
@Gemtem 1976* the first ever usage of 3d animation was in a 1976 sci-fi movie where a computer displayed a 3d model of a hand making a fist and rotating

Shelby Mavity A little rule breaking is ok just as long as it doesn't go too far :) it's ok to talk with others just as long as you are careful.
Shelby Mavity I understand. I am home schooled too. She is just trying to protect you. Some parents think that shutting you in protects you from the world. It isn't because she wants you to feel lonely, she wants you to feel safe.

I hope this is coming across as constructive criticism :-)
It is good, it's just it could be even better.
Dan Root, U Said A Lot Of Things
The lack of Fleischer animation and cartoons from the Tex Avery era was disappointing.
Lack of TeX is disappointing...
Didn't know animation had color in the 1800's..
William j Orta pretty pricey back in the day, that’s why most was black and white.
I never thought the world had color in 1800
That is the remastered one for example remaking a movie to make it Full HD or even 4k. , the uploader should notice about that
They did not have color they added the color
it was hand drawn, so..
Anamation always touches my heart in some way like Rick and morty and even some old movies too.
1:09 Walt Disney's.... MICKEY MOUSE!!!!!

The first animation actually came out in 1923 and was Alice and Wonderland
M I C K E Y M O U S E !
I find it kind of perplexing that Space Jam was added instead of Roger Rabbit...
Or Don Bluth...
Meme hating? I'm sorry, I didn't know the legacy of animation was built up and refined for over a hundred years just to create memes.
Jack Winter He didnt say it wasn't he just said they could've used Roger Rabbit instead of Space Jam as it had more animation.
I'm actually a girl, but thanks.

It's amazing how Disney helped evolved society into the new age. Also should have mentioned Bugs Bunny and Warner bros.
That said, the japanese dominated the 1980s in animation
but the 1990s were the golden age of disney.

But "modern" animation only begins until the 19th century.

Itzel Montalvo fuck, thats like a true ass comment
Anime has been a thing since the 1900s believe it or not
Modern anime pretty much originated with Tezuka's studio TV animation in the 60's. There was Japanese animation before that, but they're basically from different schools...

You got replaced so you weren’t really going to be here
Basically anything that’s made in CGI, is considered the future of animation.
Someday in the future animation probably becomes so surrealistic that it doesn't even look animation anymore
We've been there since 2001. It's just so hard to make it that realistic without having it fall into the uncanny valley.

The older hand drawn stuff was way more fun, you could honestly replace most 3d animated films with live action these days
The scene from The Princess and the Frog with doctor Fasciliere shows how great 2D animation could be. Too bad it was the last 2D animated movie Disney will probably ever make.
I find the old animation weird

Wait-ANIMATION WAS BACK IN 1833? I thought it wasn't around until almost 100 years later!

Imagine what other animations they had that have been lost to time...
Yeah, they used zoetropes. A wheel that has repeating images spinning to create a cycle.
I actually knew about those, I just didn't think it counted.
many cave painting and egyptian drawings are successive so the idea of animation has been around since the dawn of man
