I started planking daily on January 1, 2023. I worked up to two minutes per morning, along with daily walking and some other exercises. I am pushing 72 years old and hope to keep it going. Planking is helping me maintain my strength.
Is it just me or when ever I feel motivated to get fit and exercise it’s always in the middle of the night. Then the next day I don’t wanna do anything..
Been doing this for about two years now. Started at 1 minute then gradually increased it 5 seconds per day and for the last 6-8 months I settled at 6 minutes 40 seconds 4-5 days a Week
Hello, I hope you're doing fine! What are the results you got from doing planks ? Did it help you ? I also started today with one minute and i aim to increase the time daily.
I am planking last 8 days. I feel energised, feel my body all over the core, feel my arms are getting stronger. When i hear you saying each point, I could relate to it. Day 9 - first I started with 15 seconds repetition and now 20s repetition. Now I can feel I have become stronger than before. I feel sweating more than before. Since I am doing daily early in the morning, when I wake up, I remember I have to plank. I thought sharing this would help somebody transform their body. This is not just helping get perfect core but strength in all the activities we do daily.
@@christhegreat5966 that could sound quite disheartening to people who are really out of shape. even a 1 min plank can feel super hard at the beginning. but even if you can only hold it for 20 seconds just keep doing your max every day. you can train up your planking "skills" super fast. I rember in school several of us never trained and when the announcement came up like we'll have a plank test in 2 weeks everyone shocked. but two weeks were for me (completely untrained) more than enough to train up a 5 minute plank with my max at home being like almost 7 minutes at the time
jyp that would be me if I ever visited the gym plus I would look like I just went swimming because I sweat so fucking much. It’s disgusting that’s why I never will visit a gym in my life.
zheng boon yeah that makes sense but you know I literally sweat way to much my body produces to much sweat. Today I cleaned my room a vacuumed underneath my bed and in order to do that i needed to remove my mattress and that process is not physically exhausting yet I started to sweat profusely. So going to a gym is not an option. I am disgusted by how much sweat my body produces. And that’s one reason why I am overweight because I hate it I do the simplest tasks and I am drenched it’s annoying and uncomfortable.
jyp yeah I know but on top of my sweating problem comes my laziness. I always want to start but I never actually do it’s like making New Years revolutions and then break them within the first month.
Well designed video with good information on planks. I've been doing planks for about five years and noticed that my lower back pain is nearly gone and my belly is more flat. Success!
I start my day off with a plank. It's my main way of training abs along with basic bodyweight movements. See, not many people know this, but when you consistently train a muscle, it grows! That's right, by doing a plank every day, you'll eventually get abs. Maybe not visible abs if you eat processed foods, but abs regardless :)
YT went from a bunch of dogs reacting to a kitten, to handmade chinese colored glue, or whatever the name of the resine was, phone cases, to planks. At this point am just enjoying the ride.

Do you already have abs cause I am determined to start to loose fat I am not hella fat but I ain’t skinny so I wanna know if this could help since I can’t go to the gym 😢
@@Hitlersfrog35367 You don't need abs to do this. This is focused on endurance and strength more than building abs or losing fat. If you want to lose fat you need another kind of exercise, like aerobic exercises. Running or cycling are indeed helpful for that
When I can't sleep, a one minute plank usually fixes it--I do it on my bed. Then I collapse and just ride those endorphins into oblivion... but the plank itself is rough.
I am going to do this for a month and share the results daily! Week 1 Day 1: started shaking a bit after 50 seconds but I made it. Day 2: done Day 3: restday Day 4: done, I got it pretty easy while I was listening to music Day 5: done Day 6: done Day 7: done, it gets easier everyday Week 2 Day 8: done day 9: done Day 10: restday day 11: done Day 12: done Day 13: done Day 14: done, it is done before you know it. If you need an inspiring quote: "Are you gonna start one day or is today day one of your journey?" Another one that works for me is: get off your lazy ass. Haha
@Abigail Kite I'm not the one claiming to have depression, which no one says. People with real depression hide it. Clearly the person is using it for attention
For me it's less suffering and more just boredom. Like I'm able to do them no problem but how do you expect me to feel standing in the same position for minutes
Well you gotta take into account the average attention span of your average person. Most people want to exercise but are daunted by overly long explanations that make it seem harder than it actually is. This is simple, effective, and its not trying to sell you something.
Quick exercises with great benefits is what most people look for when trying to get started with exercising. They want to see results with minimal effort and if exercise for 1 minute can give them that then it could lead them to do other exercises they _choose_ to do.
@@ridenenaji I thought that when I was at 41 a week ago, lost my streak today, you'll get busy and have no time at some point, with that I also lost the drive but maybe you won't. All the best to you
Here's a tip: if the 2 minutes feel extra long because if the plank, then just put your favorite show or movie while doing it and before you know it, you're done!
I find that listening to a song while holding a plank works wonders! I work out ahead of time which lyric I’ll be finishing on, so I can sing along in my head and know when it’ll be over 😂
In google, look up global truth project. Click "The Present" tab. This book about the truth of life/death can change the world if it reaches enough people. You will see what I mean on pg one
Do 2 minute planks 5 days a week. After 2 years, I’m increasing them by 15 seconds. It has enabled me to do push-ups easier. I started with 10, I’m up to 30 without stopping. Goal is 50. Combined with other leg and arm strengthening exercises, my strength and stamina have increased tremendously. Combined with HIIT, I’ve lost 50 pounds. Amazing exercise!
@@rickroll658 Well take advantage of that, and keep exercising. It means your genetics are good for staying lean. If you never exercise though, you will lose it, like many college students that stop doing sports after school
Well I kinda like my body but I’m trying to glow up bc so much ppl have hurt me and I want them to know that the pain that hurt me motivated me in a way idk how to explain it🥺
This actually makes me want to plank now. I'll update this every day for one month starting today. Week 1: Day 1: Literally started shaking 10secs in, my hopefully soon-to-be abs were burning through the whole minute. Also incorporated 10 pushups cause why not. I could barely do 5 before feeling like dropping. Day 2: Started shaking 20secs in, It was actually a little easier than yesterday until it got to 45secs where time felt so slow. I breezed through 5 pushups before my arms started shaking. Feels good though feeling that progress. Day 3: I couldnt update last night so had to write notes. Wow I started shaking 30secs in, time actually felt quick compared to the first day. Im also starting to breeze through the push ups aswell, might set it to 15 pushups tomorrow. All in all, progress is a beauty Day 4: I forgot to do it last night so I done it first thing in the morning and honestly it felt better, I started shaking 40secs in during the plank and when it got to 50 my core felt tight when I had to do quick breaths, Pushups are getting alot easier i can now do 10 no sweat. Day 5: The moment I pressed start on on the stopwatch I closed my eyes and lost count, opened my eyes and 30secs had passed no sweat, might push it to 1:30 plank next week. Started doing 15 pushups and breezed through them so might push it to 20 next week aswell. Lets go, progress baby! Day 6: I felt heavy during the plank but passed it with ease so next week im gonna make it longer. Breezing past the 15 pushups so im gonna change that to 20. I have also noticed my posture has straightened a bit, cant remember if that was mentioned in the video but yea thats something ive noticed. Proud of myself, proud of everyone joining me, Keep going ok. Day 7: Started shaking 55secs in, found out that if I close my eyes and purposely loose count time goes faster. For the pushups I almost done more than 10 without thinking and was shocked by how fast and easy I done them. Week 2: Day 1: Sadly I was injured Day 2: Damn I was barely shaking at all, my arms started getting sore thou but I planked for 1:10secs its not much but something, and I actually flew past 15 pushups before I noticed I was slowing down but still done them with ease. Day 3: Wow that 1:10sec plank went kinda quick had little shakes here and there but compared to my first day damn im proud of myself, Breezing through 20 pushups so might push that to 25 or something tomorrow. Day 4: Planks are getting alot easier, shaking less, I went for 1:30secs, can feel my arms getting sore through it though so maybe need to do some tricep dips or maybe alternative pushups, Speaking of pushups I flew through 20 so am going to try push it to 25 Day 5: Planked to 1:10 before getting walked in on then I stopped but i had little shakes here and there, may need to buy a mat because my core is able to handle it but my arms arent. 25 pushups I done them with ease lessgooo Day 6: 1:10sec plank done and dusted, I couldve gone longer but my arms are feeling heavy, compared to the first day im barely shaking. 25 Pushups easy done Day 7: Normal plank for 1min nice and easy then side planked each side for 30 secs each and 5 sec into those I felt like dropping. Breezed through normal press ups then done 10 diamond press ups now my triceps are sore af. Feels good thou Week 3: Day 1: Eased through the 1min plank few shakes here and there but nothing compared to my first day. The side planks were ruthless, felt like dropping around 15secs. Done 20 pushups then 10 diamond pushups followed by 10 normal pushups and even as I am writing this I can feel my triceps burning. Day 2: Rest, rest is good Day 3: Planking for 1min str8 was good, could feel the burn, little shakes here and there but easy done, Side planking on the left is a lot harder than on the right for some reason but getting a tad easy as the days go on. Breezed through 30 pushups but noticed slowing down when I reach the 20 mark but still done them. The 10 diamond pushups are still ruthless but slightly getting easier. No pain no gain Day 4: Easily breezed through the 1min plank, left side plank starts burning my core around the 20sec mark. Breezed through the right side plank. Done 20 slow pushups instead of trying to do it as fast as I could and that was quite the challenge, done 10 diamond pushups, 10sec rest then 10 normal pushups. My triceps have actually gained muscle which is cool Day 4: Easily breezed through the 1min plank, left side plank starts burning my core around the 20sec mark. Breezed through the right side plank. Done 20 slow pushups instead of trying to do it as fast as I could and that was quite the challenge, done 10 diamond pushups, 10sec rest then 10 normal pushups. My triceps have actually gained muscle which is cool Day 5: 1min plank easily done, My left side plank still harder than my right side so might make the left side plank longer to build muscle. 30 pushups done, my core started getting tight around 25 mark. The burn feels good after the 10 diamond pushups Day 6: Few shakes here and there for the 1min plank but easy done, My left side is getting alot stronger, it doesnt burn as much doing the side plank. 30 pushups nice and easy and suprisingly the diamond pushups are getting a little easier Day 7: was unable to due to family matters Week 4: Day 1: 1min plank easy done, left side plank started feeling the burn around the 20sec mark but still done it, right side easy done, 30 pushups had a few stops for 2secs then kept at it. Diamond pushups hurt a lil less but i can feel my triceps getting better so lets goooo Day 2: 1min plank is easy now, 15 slow pushups stop for 5secs then another 15 slow pushups just because why not. Left side plank is alot stronger now. 10 tricep dips still burn and they still hurt from yesterday so nice progress Day 3: My arms are fucked, I decided to put some music on while planking and didnt realise how fast time went. My left side plank needs a little more work but still breeze through it. I can feel the lactic acid in my left arm while I smashed through the 30 pushups, surprised I didn’t fall. The 10 diamond pushups were tough the first 2 but then breezed through the rest. Day 4: 1min plank easy done, left side plank is definitely stronger as it starts burning the second it gets to the 30sec mark. 30 pushups breezed through it. 10 diamond pushups felt good breezing through them Day 4: My arms are fucked so I had to take a rest Day 5: Played some music and flew through the planks and left side doesnt start hurting until I just finish. Breezed through the 30 pushups and 10 diamond pushups easily done Day 6: Quickly done them after I came back from eating. 1min plank easy done however my arms are getting tired so maybe need to work on those, left side plank definitely stronger as it now doesnt burn before the 30sec mark. 10 diamond pushups breezed right through them Day 7: 1min plank went by really fast, left side plank no longer burns/hurts. 30 pushups done with ease, 10 diamond pushups also done with ease and no longer burns. Thoughts: My posture has definitely improved, I have also noticed an increase in muscle in my arms and shoulders to where I actually feel good about my size as I am quite a skinny person. Also really good looking back to where I struggled so easy, so fast to now where its easy to the point its boring so I have to try mix it up. The hardest thing was definitely getting up and doing it, pushing through the “cant be bothered” mindset. But overall I really do feel good, will I continue doing this? The thought is there but who knows. Probably wasted my time posting and updating this comment but if youve made it this far. I hope life is treating you good and you matter ok :)
if you suffer with Cronic tight back muscles like I do you can still do the kneeling plank which still does the same. It takes the pressure off the legs
One good form of exercise if you have a big enough garden is to learn to do a bunny hop on a bike. Useful plus you can show off. Also go for a run around the block
Started planking for the first for a minute 11 seconds today. Did it twice after 2 hours rest in between. Doing it to lose belly fat. Can feel the pressure and strain throughout the body. Heart beat up yet did not break a sweat. Quickest exercise ever. Love it. Will up it a bit to 2 minutes tomorrow.
I did 1min plank every day for like 2 months and it really helped me reduce fat and become fit! Stop thinking that you will start it from tomorrow , start it from today!! We all are gonna make it brahs 💪
The hardest part is starting and doing it everyday, even when you're down, but planking at least 1 minute a day does make you lose weight, improves your posture, and helps you fight anxiety 👌
@@phasedoz7239 it doesn’t make you lose weight if you eat enough.. only lose weight in a deficit, this doesn’t burn that many calories so I wouldn’t worry ab it
@@jp-sn6si It's the least you can do, to start with. Do more if you can The most I could do was a total of 17 minutes a day, some days, during 1 year and a half, and I managed to lose about 13 kilos (≈ 26 pounds). But the hardest part is to keep on doing this rate, even if you're with toxic people with bad habits (eating lots of fat, no exercise) that seem to suck your brains and your will to exercise 🙃 So if you can do at least one minute a day, it's better than nothing, and you can still feel your abs burning if you plank correctly

Just a minute? I can totally do that. After 3 seconds: This is tough. After 5 seconds: I will do 10 reps of 6 seconds each. After the 3 rd set: Enough.

I recommend everyone do this Today June 16th, 2022 I am proud to say I've successfully finished a 5 minute plank. UPDATE: Tues January 17th, 2023. I have joined a gym and have incorporated a variety of exercises into my workout. I've recently been doing some of my own version of "up/downs". Also hitting the heavy bag, squats, bench press, treadmill. With that said I have no forgot what built the foundation to get me there. I still incorporate planks, for 2 minutes now, pushups, and yoga. Stay healthy my friends and family! We are gifted this body and mind for a reason. Take care of it!

I am 59 and overweight. I started doing the plank approximately 3 months ago. I first started at 30 seconds and could not do a second longer. Now, I am doing the plank for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. I have to admit that I am still looking for the last seconds to come around, but I am so motivated as I went from 241 pounds to 208 in those 3 months. I have to point out that this is the ONLY exercise I do other then walk the dog for about 15 minutes a day. Moving forward, I will be doing reps and keep walking the dog. 😀

the fact that a 3 minutes youtube video is convincing thousands of people to exercize daily is absolutely amazing
Well you gotta take into account the average attention span of your average person. Most people want to exercise but are daunted by overly long explanations that make it seem harder than it actually is.
This is simple, effective, and its not trying to sell you something.
If this 3 minute video is what convinced you, you’re probably going to just give up after a week.
Quick exercises with great benefits is what most people look for when trying to get started with exercising. They want to see results with minimal effort and if exercise for 1 minute can give them that then it could lead them to do other exercises they _choose_ to do.

L e e C e e e gain muscle.
This actually makes me want to plank now. I'll update this every day for one month starting today.
Week 1:
Day 1: Literally started shaking 10secs in, my hopefully soon-to-be abs were burning through the whole minute.
All in all, progress is a beauty
Day 4: I forgot to do it last night so I done it first thing in the morning and honestly it felt better, I started shaking 40secs in during the plank and when it got to 50 my core felt tight when I had to do quick breaths, Pushups are getting alot easier i can now do 10 no sweat.
Week 2:
Day 1:
Sadly I was injured
Day 2:
Damn I was barely shaking at all, my arms started getting sore thou but I planked for 1:10secs its not much but something, and I actually flew past 15 pushups before I noticed I was slowing down but still done them with ease.
Day 3: Wow that 1:10sec plank went kinda quick had little shakes here and there but compared to my first day damn im proud of myself, Breezing through 20 pushups so might push that to 25 or something tomorrow.
Day 4:
Planks are getting alot easier, shaking less, I went for 1:30secs, can feel my arms getting sore through it though so maybe need to do some tricep dips or maybe alternative pushups, Speaking of pushups I flew through 20 so am going to try push it to 25
Day 5:
Planked to 1:10 before getting walked in on then I stopped but i had little shakes here and there, may need to buy a mat because my core is able to handle it but my arms arent. 25 pushups I done them with ease lessgooo
Day 6:
1:10sec plank done and dusted, I couldve gone longer but my arms are feeling heavy, compared to the first day im barely shaking. 25 Pushups easy done
Day 7:
Normal plank for 1min nice and easy then side planked each side for 30 secs each and 5 sec into those I felt like dropping. Breezed through normal press ups then done 10 diamond press ups now my triceps are sore af. Feels good thou
Week 3:
Day 1:
Eased through the 1min plank few shakes here and there but nothing compared to my first day. The side planks were ruthless, felt like dropping around 15secs. Done 20 pushups then 10 diamond pushups followed by 10 normal pushups and even as I am writing this I can feel my triceps burning.
Day 2:
Rest, rest is good
Day 3:
Planking for 1min str8 was good, could feel the burn, little shakes here and there but easy done, Side planking on the left is a lot harder than on the right for some reason but getting a tad easy as the days go on. Breezed through 30 pushups but noticed slowing down when I reach the 20 mark but still done them. The 10 diamond pushups are still ruthless but slightly getting easier.
No pain no gain
Day 4:
Easily breezed through the 1min plank, left side plank starts burning my core around the 20sec mark. Breezed through the right side plank. Done 20 slow pushups instead of trying to do it as fast as I could and that was quite the challenge, done 10 diamond pushups, 10sec rest then 10 normal pushups. My triceps have actually gained muscle which is cool
Day 5:
1min plank easily done, My left side plank still harder than my right side so might make the left side plank longer to build muscle. 30 pushups done, my core started getting tight around 25 mark. The burn feels good after the 10 diamond pushups
Day 6:
Few shakes here and there for the 1min plank but easy done, My left side is getting alot stronger, it doesnt burn as much doing the side plank. 30 pushups nice and easy and suprisingly the diamond pushups are getting a little easier
Day 7:
was unable to due to family matters
Week 4:
Day 1:
1min plank easy done, left side plank started feeling the burn around the 20sec mark but still done it, right side easy done, 30 pushups had a few stops for 2secs then kept at it. Diamond pushups hurt a lil less but i can feel my triceps getting better so lets goooo
Day 2:
1min plank is easy now, 15 slow pushups stop for 5secs then another 15 slow pushups just because why not. Left side plank is alot stronger now. 10 tricep dips still burn and they still hurt from yesterday so nice progress
Day 3:
My arms are fucked, I decided to put some music on while planking and didnt realise how fast time went. My left side plank needs a little more work but still breeze through it. I can feel the lactic acid in my left arm while I smashed through the 30 pushups, surprised I didn’t fall. The 10 diamond pushups were tough the first 2 but then breezed through the rest.
Day 4:
1min plank easy done, left side plank is definitely stronger as it starts burning the second it gets to the 30sec mark.
30 pushups breezed through it. 10 diamond pushups felt good breezing through them
Day 4:
My arms are fucked so I had to take a rest
Day 5:
Played some music and flew through the planks and left side doesnt start hurting until I just finish. Breezed through the 30 pushups and 10 diamond pushups easily done
Day 6:
Quickly done them after I came back from eating. 1min plank easy done however my arms are getting tired so maybe need to work on those, left side plank definitely stronger as it now doesnt burn before the 30sec mark. 10 diamond pushups breezed right through them
Day 7:
1min plank went by really fast, left side plank no longer burns/hurts. 30 pushups done with ease, 10 diamond pushups also done with ease and no longer burns.
Thoughts:
My posture has definitely improved, I have also noticed an increase in muscle in my arms and shoulders to where I actually feel good about my size as I am quite a skinny person.

After the 3 rd set: Enough.

thanks for reminding me to do planks. i had surgery recently and have to wait about 2 weeks before exercising. i will start with planks!
It's been a month. I've increased my time to 2 minutes and 15 seconds. It's an amazing workout that requires nothing but yourself and effort. I recommend everyone do this
Today June 16th, 2022 I am proud to say I've successfully finished a 5 minute plank.
I do to sets of one minute.
Can you update ur results bro

I am 59 and overweight. I started doing the plank approximately 3 months ago. I first started at 30 seconds and could not do a second longer. Now, I am doing the plank for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. I have to admit that I am still looking for the last seconds to come around, but I am so motivated as I went from 241 pounds to 208 in those 3 months. I have to point out that this is the ONLY exercise I do other then walk the dog for about 15 minutes a day. Moving forward, I will be doing reps and keep walking the dog. 😀
Man you will just get over it . I did by starting on my max of 45 seconds then it kept increasing steadily at last after almost 2 months i hit 4 minutes.your body will just adapt to it so you have to give it progressive overload
But heres the catch: one minute of planking equals an eternity
That how quantum mechanics work?

@@chromiumfe4r860 Lmao what's stress and depression like? Reddit people talk about it all the time. I gets annoying that I can't relate
Am I only one who feels more pain in the arms rather than the core while planking
keep shoulder directly in line with elbow; really focus on protracting scapula and posterior pelvic tilting the core. your body should be going diagonally from head to feet not in a straight raised line. practice mind muscle connection with this movement and u will feel how difficult it gets to hold in ur core
No
I plank for 3-5 minutes a day....my body fat won’t go away
