It has been so hard to feel like I would be damaged goods if I wasn’t a virgin when I got married. Perfection for humans is an illusion. We can never be perfect. What I’ve realized is that when we repent and turn from our sexual sin, God makes us pure again and doesn’t hold shame over our head. Parents and family often don’t get the memo, and will always think of a person differently.

This video was great! I grew up with that same wrong church mentality ever since my youth group days. I am now 39 years old and God is beginning to uproot that wrong thinking. It is a painful process because I am not a virgin, having had multiple girlfriends and an ex-wife. I just recently met the most amazing God-sent woman and we are in a wonderful relationship, but she too has had a sexual past. Both my and her past haunts me and I am finding it difficult to cope with all of that as well as saving sex for marriage. But God is good and His plans are perfect!
Sex is not even a human activity. It is a Demonic activity. People do not get married to fornicate freely. Catholic church never proposed that. Just stay friends and not more.

Its a blessing to a marriage to wait for sex till married. But grace is enough for all of us and all our sins. If you sin, you can repent. You are given a chance with Christ to start over. I am divorced with three kids. God still blesses me, and I have a chance still to not sin. I can still wait for marriage to be with someone. Its ok to repent and try to be better. Mark it’s a huge loss for me. I’ve been in relationships and lived not a pure life and the person I’m now with is a virgin so I want to wait until marriage. Luckily God is helping us stay pure through people. We met a young lady the other night who was on drugs talking about some pretty disgusting things that happened to her. For anyone who is still a virgin and plans to remain pure until marriage, I highly recommend you marry someone who is also a virgin. From my experience, the thought of your spouse’s promiscuous past, despite change and repentance, will always get under your skin and ruin your inner peace

Sex outside of marriage is still a sin and it is immoral in Christianity, yes you yourself cannot save yourself, but the saying "save myself for marriage" is not the same as saying you can save yourself from everything, it's all about context and you have to take it literaly in the way they say it, it isn't a broad term that you make it to be

Character is different from virginity. A wise virgin should know that Bible always talks about one being respectful, obedience, humble, meek, sober and peaceful. Lest he or she becomes foolish. Like you rightly said that there's grace for someone who engaged in sexual sin in the past; that it is not the end of road for that person, yes. But after that, the person should continue in Chasity. Then shall he/she become a disciple indeed.

Thank you for this perspective. I'm on the opposite path and I'm struggling with trusting my future partner. I've kept myself chaste throughout my life and turned down a few opportunities in high school even to just date and I'm now 24 and I expect my partner to be chaste as I am. But the likelihood of that happening is very slim with the current dating market and on top of it, I don't know if my future partner could be hiding that from me and lying for whatever reason since that seems to be a trend nowadays.
Sometimes I think maybe I should just get it over with and lose my virginity just so I can be on the same playing field as the rest of the market but I don't want to sacrifice my morals. On the other hand, I feel like I can't trust my future partner if they are non-virgins and it would feel like my whole chastity was pointless to begin with. Lot of insecurity I guess but what can I say, that's my life.

My innocents was lost at 9. Was sexually abused. It kept happening until I was 16 and finally told. It messed me up for a long time. Not everyone gets the chance to save themselves for marriage. So for some people it's just not possible to be a Virgin on their wedding night.

I'm a Christian woman and a virgin. I've obeyed God, resisted temptation and proudly declare that I'm a virgin because of my faith and love for Jesus. I'll NEVER marry a promiscuous man! Having sex before marriage without care and knowing it's sinful is awful! This video is basically telling people being a virgin or not isn't a big deal. It's doesn't=who you are as a person. God forgives sexual sin etc So in a lot of the comments people are taking this is permission to engage in sex before marriage or continue as they are having sex before marriage. The content of this video is unhealthy and unhelpful. I as a virgin have no respect for guys who are promiscuous. If a guy found Jesus as an adult and before that was promiscuous, I'll consider marrying him provided he's no longer engaging in sexual sin e.g.sex before marriage. But because the attitude towards sex by men these days is sinful, I've made a decision never to marry. I'm not giving my virginity to guys who aren't treating sex before marriage as a sin. They don't deserve it. As I said this video gives dangerous advice.
Your teaching helped me greatly. So many of us suffered from 'Spiritual Abuse' in the church. I let myself believe for 20 yrs of marriage that I ruined my sex life and 'Set the Tone' by having sex before marriage with my husband. A 'Self fulfilling Prophesy'. I think subconsciously, I tried to punish myself because I believed my sin ruined things forever. Praise God. I now understand it is not my own righteousness . It is best for us to Not have sex before marriage. But I am free now and see how God works verses our own religious legalistic righteousness.

In a relationship I think it would help to find a partner who knows the strength of Jesus how to be a better person in life and to cast cares upon, to would be a great match! A lot of people use 1st Corinthians 7:2 to talk about purity, when in fact the passage is talking about how Christians should have sex while married, which apparently was a contested idea.
2 things can be true at once
One truth does not take away from another
Grace restores our souls not necessarily our earthly feelings & daily lives. There’s a reason why sexual immorality is highlighted over and over again as a sin to avoid-it cripples us. God forgives & redeems us from our mistakes. We no longer face eternal consequence but that doesn’t mean our sin doesn’t have a lasting consequence here on earth. I think the message in this video might promote people think they eventually recover from future sexual sin so why not do it & overcome it after? Also, what about the people who truly honor God with their bodies by not committing sexual immorality? I pray those people know there is a real reward for obeying God’s word that they will reap here on earth and in heaven. Takeaway: glorify God with your bodies by His grace & reap the rewards. Deal with the consequence of not honoring God by His grace knowing it might be like that until heaven.
I agree with you! I was thinking the same thing that this video might be taken as encouragement to engage in sex freely before marriage and then change your ways later. Sex before marriage is wrong. I'm a virgin and have always been aware as I was born into a Christian family, that sex before marriage is a sin. So I refrained from it. I'd never intentionally disobey Jesus. My Christian friends gave into temptation, gave into peer pressure and some tossed Jesus aside for sexual pleasure before marriage. I didn't because I'm well aware it's a sin. I also credit my being a virgin still to Jesus. I'm proud I'm a virgin waiting for marriage, I don't hide the fact but I credit it this to my religious beliefs. I tell people this and it actually stops people from applying pressure onto me to have sex. I've had people challenge my being a virgin as ridiculous because 'everyone has sex'. Or they ask if I'm mentally or physically unable to have sex hence I'm a virgin. When I explain I'm a Christian woman waiting for marriage and what Jesus says about sex before marriage, they argue with me for abit then give up because they realise they could be seen as discriminatory for challenging my religious beliefs. Or they accept these are my beliefs due to my religion and I'm unlikely to change them. Boasting about being a virgin is acceptable. Why? Because in this immoral world we live in, premarital sex is accepted as normal and virginity isn't. By keeping quiet about your virginity you are giving into society. By saying proudly and openly you're a virgin because of your faith in Jesus, must be encouraged. Why hide it? You're giving credit to him and celebrating your faith. But the message in this video I partly ok but the rest is dubious.

These are the times we are living in where there will be apostacy within the church. Where some churches will depart from the old ways to doctrines more easily digested by worldly people. You made lots of really good points. But at the same time it makes me wonder what churches are these people attending that they were being taught these things. I've been raised in a Christian home shows to become a Christian of my own and have been walking that way my entire life. And I have never heard these preachings.

If you can get someone to harm their own sexuality and/or to actively fear and/or mistrust and/or demonize it, then you have succeeded in compromising the autonomy of another being.
Ive heard testimonies of virgins who had horrible jealousy issues, trust issues, and pride with high entitlement attitudes and expectations. And they had great relationships with their dads. And I've met sisters in the faith with horrible pasts who have truly repented and sought healing and deliverance. And they have some of the best characters you can find on this earth.
Sexual purity still is the best policy. Ppl who indulged in sexual practices whatever they might have been: lesbianism, bisexuality, threesomes, sucking several cocks at once, or high body count, drinking semen, fisting, inserting dildos in every single hole, watching tons of pornography, even bestialism, etc before marriage are def gonna have a tough time during marriage, whether they want to admit or not

Lately I feel very uncomfortable with acknowledging my needs and what I'm attracted to, I talked about it with a guy online friend who's not very conservative, about how I feel about the topic itself but I feel like that in itself was breaking boundaries as a girl. I always told myself that I'd only talk with my husband about those types of things, but I just don't know... is it innapropriate to talk about this with male friends? This is good stuff! I struggled with the lie of “I am damaged goods” because of my sexual trauma which led to hyper sexuality. However I am starting to realize my purity is in Christ. My claim to righteousness is based on what Jesus has already done not what I’ve done or what I’ve been through.
Question: Does redemption from sexual sin require rebuking one's own past behavior as wrong as well as turning away from that sin? or are we redeemed simply by turning to the Lord Jesus Christ and asking forgiveness to be saved from our sins? Can a person who has turned to Jesus for salvation be saved who refuses to say they wish they had never sinned in that way in the first place (a double negative I know)? Seems to me some Christian people choose to sin on purpose even thought they know what they are doing is wrong because they really enjoy the sin but all the while knowing they can later ask for forgiveness and be redeemed. I see this especially in the area of people engaging in fornication before marriage with one or more partners then expecting a different person they want to marry to graciously accept that behavior without the first party professing actual regret for that behavior. When asked if they wish they had never had those experiences in the first place they say they have asked God for forgiveness after the fact so their potential marriage partner should forgive them too, but they are unwilling to say they wish they had not behaved that way in the first place. Seems like they are not truly repentant but just seeking forgiveness for their wrong behavior they enjoyed and never truly repented of. Sorry if this isn't very clear but it is a subtle difference. Seems to me that part of the forgiveness of sins should be truly regretting that behavior in the first place and wishing one had never behaved that way, then turning away from it and seeking forgiveness, not just seeking forgiveness for a fun but wrong behavior without regret. Otherwise we could just decide to go out and sin for a while to get it out of our system and without consequence then when we are good and ready ask for forgiveness and expect it.
Meesh all pasts sins are washed. God gives us a clean slate. But please don’t get me wrong, God KNOWS OUR HEARTS AND TRUE INTENTIONS. You are so right! People do sin and repent ON A DAILY FOR THINGS THEY DO ON PURPOSE. This is very wrong and it is not overlooked I believe, as it is false repentance (the person is taking advantage of a God’s grace) Only God can judge us.. but if you truly believed you are forgiven and you are truly sorry - then there should be no need for regret to linger for a long time.

In this day and age where 80% of Christians fornicate (estimated) that leaves those of us who desire to be chaste and virtuous slim pickings for mates, especially when only about 30% of Americans identify as practicing Christians (rather than simply identifying as Christians) and then 20% of 30% is would theoretically be classified as practicing Christians who do not fornicate. By my calculations that leaves only 6% so only 3% would be of the sex opposite of mine to choose from. It matters to me because If someone knows that fornication was specifically warned against by Christ Himself and they choose to ignore it, that seems to me to be someone who may profess belief but is not a true believer. Unfortunately, that affects the level of desire I have to marry that person. I have dealt with that issue my whole life and as a result I never married and never had children. I am in my sixties now. When I was coming of age in the late fifties and early sixties, people were abandoning traditional attitudes about sexual morality in favor of embracing the sexual revolution. Just because we are forgiven does not mean I can necessarily adjust my desire for a potential partner who has already joined their body with another or several other people. I guess I am an outlier, but there it is.

But I personally disagree only because I believe that everyone shall be forgiven no matter the shame or sin they have done (sexually). I can honestly say that’s YES we have MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY false Christians. It is highly alarming to me, but that doesn’t mean you cant find someone who is truly saved, truly repented, truly loves God ? I think not. I believe there are saved souls. There’s so many stories in the bible that explain this. People who’s faith SAVED them and allowed them to leave in peace even though they’ve committed many sins. I’m sure you’re aware we are born IN SIN. Sin is in our nature and without the bible and scriptures we would not know what to refrain ourselves from doing. That’s why a lot of us (me included) have done things without knowing the consequences AND the shame. When we find Christ that’s when we know what his true grace is like. That’s when we know what is accepted and not accepted. Many believe that fornication isn’t a sin - that’s ignorance, but you can’t blame them.. do they read the bible? Anyways I hope you understand what I’m saying. There ARE people who have sinned and truly have repented and do feel sorry for their sins just as much as there are fake Christians who sin everyday and repent for the same sin over 1000 times. Just be observant of who you come across and you will know where they belong in this spectrum. There is no in-between. You’re either a true Christian or not.
I actually feel like we are in agreement really. The difference is what is in the heart. What I have learned is that one must be VERY discerning and take a lot of time to sift the wheat from the chafe regarding whether someone is truly repentant or if they have simply asked for and expect that they are forgiven but then refuse to say that they wish they had not partaken of the sin in the first place. Seems to me that if someone is truly repentant they would recognize that sin means missing the mark and that the wages of sin are death and therefore would wish they had done the right thing in the first place. When it comes to sexual sin these days especially it seems to me that people are simply glad to have had the experience and been forgiven and move on. It is admittedly a subtle difference. I am a grievous sinner myself but I see it as missing the mark and that the results of my sin is loss and death in my life. I like to quote the phrase "God cannot be not mocked". We cannot sin and suffer zero negative consequences. Some people apparently don't see it that way but just chalk it up to experience and a technical foul to use a sports term. If the same man or woman comes back to me the following day, repentant that they committed that very sin, I would share the grace of God and His willingness to forgive.
The problem today is that we don't encourage young Christians to marry early. Everyone's more interested in encouraging them to get a college degree above all else.
That's an example of how the lies of the world have seeped into the church.

This whole video is approaching the subject from the perspective of catering to the exception, while ignoring the beauty of purity in a believers life. Purity is the standard. Impurity is not death, but it does reduce the value one presents to their spouse and it usually affects the marriage relationship adversely. Big thumbs down.
