It analyzes the numbers and capabilities on both sides, as well the strategic implications stemming from the geography of the area. Air and naval war are discussed, with the invasion of the island of Taiwan left for the second video.

We recently had a discussion with Mike Green on what will most likely happen to markets if China invades Taiwan. First part is here: ruclips.net/video/0gzMMGEysBk/видео.html and the second part is here: ruclips.net/video/O9iSuvYnMpU/видео.html. Just something to add to what you guys already know. There's about semiconductors and why it's not the reason China wants Taiwan. What will happen to Europe and Russia, to the US? Also the effects on the supply chain, consumer goods, Euro, and USD.

We'll see what happens in part 2, but I think you're vastly underestimating the difficulty of mounting an amphibious invasion over open water against serious opposition. The US and Britain (along with other Allies) did this in WW2 but it wasn't enough to gain bare superiority, it required absolute air and naval supremacy to make it possible - and even then operations like D-Day were so touch-and-go that on June 6 Eisenhower carried in his pocket a prepared statement to give to the press in case the invasion failed and the Allied troops were slaughtered.
Taiwan wouldn't have to win the air and naval war, all it would have to do is have enough forces survive to make the crossing suicidal for slow, vulnerable transports. Just one or two surviving subs could easily sink a dozen transports carrying tens of thousands of men or vital equipment. And the fighting on the beaches would be hideous for the PRC. Read up on the horrible cost extracted by very outnumbered garrisons on Tarawa, Peleliu, and Iwo Jima against invasions supported by hundreds of ships and thousands of planes without a single enemy ship or plane in sight. Of course China won't run out of soldiers or tanks, but they might run out of ships to deliver them and keep them supplied for a grueling ground campaign against a highly skilled and motivated enemy fighting to defend his own country. And unlike the Allies in 1944-45, the PRC has no experience conducting amphibious invasions like this.

Taiwan loses every time, they just do, but China would get fucked up. The USA and nato are not letting that happen and China can’t stop us. We’d destroy China in no time flat. You don’t fuck with democratic countries. The USA has never been ok with that and we never will be. We will come, it will hurt, and we will kill you. Nobody will have fun. I hate war, it’s gross, but we win every time. Taiwan is an ally. If Taiwan wanted to lose, they still win

i think you might be grossly underestimating the military of germany in ww2.
it was THE world's superpower. it took basically the whole world united to stop them.
taiwan is just a rebel province of china.
it's like usa fighting against new york city.
china has a modern military. including submarine hunting helicopters, advanced aircraft, carriers, missiles, etc....
and it has everything in huge quantities.
twaiwan's air defenses would be taken out first, then special forces would be dropped from helicopters to take care of coastal defenses while submarine hunters do their thing, and then a massive invasion, with constant air support through air supremacy.

also england was NEVER alone usa was ALWAYS backing them. germany alone was graping(without the first g, but google gets triggered if you spell it correctly) england.
the drunken piece of sht churchill had to bend over and let usa take them from behind and destroy their future in order for usa to choose to intervene militarily.....because otherwise germany(on their own) would have conquered england.

    • @advisorynotice

@@sabin97 you're false on many occasions.
Italy, Romania and Hungary all provided important resources for Germany.
Romania and Hungary would send men to fight in Barbarossa.
The U.K was supported financially by the U.S, similar to how Germant was financially supported by Romania and Hungary and Japan as well and the USSR, the U.S.S.R fueled the German War effort.
America didn't intervene militarily in Europe until late 1942.
You're also forgetting that Sweden fueled Germany's war effort by the Iron ore industry which was very important, so much so a race towards Norway was developed.
Italy was useless but that wasn't my point, resources and intel Italy provided were crucial.
French high command being in shambles caused disaster and Pétain surrendered to not turn France into another Poland, if resistance continued Germany would take months to fully control France.
May I tell you during the Battle of Stonne One French tank destroyed 200 German tanks alone.
Anyways, you also state that the winter was U.S.S.R's greatest ally but that's also wrong, the winter did have some effect but generally speaking the Red Army did most of the work, German intelligence was very wrong about the size of the USSR military thinking they only had 170 divisions, but in reality they managed to raise 850 divisions during the invasion, the Ukranian massacre led to massive civilian resistance, and industries were thrown into Kazakhstan far behind what Germany could ever achieve, it is also general knowledge that Germany sucked at logistics and that would show a lot during their invasion of USSR, by the end of 1941, most German units weren't even capable of offensive operations, this is before the winter set it fully, the Siberian divisions won't be deployed until mid 1942, Yugoslavian resistance already was fucking up the German army and Soviet tanks were superior while the Kriegsmarine got dwarfed by the British Navy, the greatest German ship, the Bismarck, sailed for one day before getting spotted and wrecked. The battle of Crete showed great german incompetence and incapacitated their paratrooping capabilites. The north African compaign exhausted their resources further while they couldn't take one single town, Tobruk.
May I also add that rhe U.S lend lease would be accepted far after the RAF was sure in defeating the Luffewaffe and alr had produced enough aircraft to counter the Blitz.
So yeah you should do some revision.

  • @rickfox4068

The main issue is that China does not have an amphibious fleet. The relatively few ships it has that can land tanks would be priority targets. Then there is the seldom discussed Taiwanese nuclear deterrent. In the late 80's / early 90's it was believed that Taiwan purchased several small nukes to help defend itself. If true, this could be why China has never settled the Taiwan issue.

    • @mxn1948
      @mxn1948 5 лет назад

Some are literally a couple miles from the mainland. They use to have practically ritualized artillery duels decades ago where one side fires on the other on alternate days of the week. In fact many of the civilians on those nearby islands now entirely depend on. The mainland to make a living. That said, all outer islands would fall in a week, they are far too small and unsupported against a coordinated attack. The other factor is the moral of the roc military. It's not very popular with it's citizens owning to it's dark past as a dictatorial suppression force, many conscripts would rather run or surrender than fight what they see as a no hope war.

Midway was a lot smaller and involved a lot less troops on both sides. Not to mention, the Japanese and US military were both fully mobilized by Midway. It takes months at the minimum to mobilize for a war, which is why Binkovs 6 month analysis isn't unreasonable. Even if the PRC mobilize before attacking, it would be noticed and the ROC would react accordingly. That's why Binkov doesn't simulate premobilization, because there really isn't much difference control wise to stimulate it.

Worth noting PLA ground force has MRLS covering all Taiwan's airports and SAM bases with guided rockets ranged above 300km and tactical missiles above 570km. This practically neutralises all Taiwan's air defending measures at a very low cost without even using PLA air force or rocket force. Hence it is pretty obvious that no Taiwan's warships, helicopters and tanks can survive in wartime as of the rapid loss of air defence. Actually PLA is preparing for a war against possible US intervention but Taiwan's resistance.
