As someone living in the Bohemian region of the Czech Republic, I've always been confused about the adverb "Bohemian" in English - thanks for explaining!
We love Ariel! ❤ Great explainer about a very trendy style, I learned so much! Bohemian, Romani, Hippies, and travelling - it all makes so much sense now! Thanks, Wayfair! 😀
Speaking as a fan of current Boho style, another facet I've noticed -- I think the "original" bohemian culture embraced a lot more variety of dark, rich and vivid colors. A lot, not all, of current bohemian trends embrace a lot more neutral tones.
@@shelll9254 I like how you think! I think part of what I like about it is the blending of many cultures. I grew up watching Star Trek. I loved seeing and "learning" about the different people's and cultures. Architecture and Decor are another way to continue celebrating the many people's and cultures of our own planet Earth. ♥️❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💓🤍🖤🤎💞🎉✨
This was so good! I gravitate towards a bohemian style. During lockdowns, I took up Makramée weaving, and now have some wall decor, a ton of plant hangers and even a lampshade - it is so much fun, and I just love looking at it.
I have a collection of Santos. Some I found in Texas & some I found in my home state, Wisconsin. They’re all colorful & different sizes & folk art So glad I found Ariel. I always enjoy her postings & am so impressed by everything she learns to do
Thanks Ariel for explain the origin of the term bohemian! I have ancestors from Bohemia and I was also familiar with the term referring to artists but I couldn’t figure out the connection! Fascinating!
REALLY enjoyed this video. I will definitely check out other vids by this host. Very informative without being boring…great visuals and design examples.
Thank you Ariel. I was a early 70s hippy. There was a store called A Shop Called East that had Hippy/ Bohemian / Indian things like jewelry, incense, clothing. It was a fun time.
Thank you. This was very informative and answered a question which I recently began to ask myself. Excellent presentation. I have collected lots of plants and displays of my own art and collections including Buddha’s and miniature cars and children’s characters like Mickey Mouse and Cookie Monster.
Oh this was great! So im not a hoarder. Im a maximalist. A new word i just learned & yep, it describes me. Why put stuff away?. Id rather it be on display! Ty4 for this. Interesting!
The Boho or Bohemian look is compared to the Hippy look of lots of plants, macrame, beads, natural wood look, rattan, wild prints of flowers & crazy patterns, etc. & just an eclectic mixture of stuff
I have rattan & wicker all over my apartment I have collected for years and years. Even though I like to consider myself minimalist. I just might have a bit of Bohemian in me. 😂
in my county we have lots of ratan style furniture we call it silla de cable but it isnt of course real cable it is mostly palm weave or if it is for a fancier more modern setting it is made with a polymere like material
can confirm that there were in fact roma people in bohemia. also fun fact all but maybe like 100 bohemian roma were killed by nazis. but yeah we were for sure there. bohemian romani is it's own (dead, unfortunately) dialect. my family still uses bohemian romani words all the time in our day to day conversations though. 😂

Your right,. I think Bohemian is a mixture of culture and elective things brought together to invoke a mood or feeling. It is a feeling✌️💗

That is a more recent branch of Bohemian. Very good for people that are more reserved about colorful decor.
Bohemian Eclectic Maximalist makes my heart sing. Very much a lifestyle, and beyond trends.

We are glad you like it! Sounds like you have been busy during lockdowns!

Nicely presented! I don’t know if it’s bohemian but I have a great vintage Persian rug in a tribal style and I mix paisley curtains in my living room.
Yes that is bohemian.

One of my favorite pieces: a '52 Smith Corona typewriter. A wall sized art piece I made with an old Georgia O'Keefe day planner and gold wall paper.

Yes, interesting twist for Wayfair or any retail store!!! Let’s introduce some history and encourage LOTS of Buying!!!!!!! Ridiculous really!!!!!!!
I support imparting culture and educating people but not the excessive consumption of material things.

I have rattan & wicker all over my apartment I have collected for years and years. Even though I like to consider myself minimalist. I just might have a bit of Bohemian in me. 😂
Rattan is so versatile, goes with a lot of styles including Coastal, Asian,Ethnic and more.

I live in West Hollywood California in a loft... And my style is more Boho and a little Industrial blended in.
Gee whiz! I didn’t know I was a bohemian all along! Well, I don’t travel very much😂

aside from the erroneous historical origins, how does boho actually LOOK differ from shabby chic?
Is my papa San chair boho ? I think so
It is used in Boho but also for other styles. The style was created in Asia.
This is so intresting, i didnt know. thanks @arielbissett!
