The swampy grind at the beginning gave me immediate chills. Her voice is amazing. Cracks, falsetto, rasp and that fluttery vibrato is so unique.
The way that Monica slides between her husky alto and her falsetto reminds me a bit of Joni Mitchell. Superb.

I have to agree ... I always enjoyed the featured vocals but this song with Monica sounds fully integrated and realized, as a band should be. Not just many great players together but a cohesive sound

Just discovered Monica a few weeks ago through her collaboration with Vulfpeck. I'd only heard her voice in that super mellow, smooth tone (where her performances are always stellar), but it's so amazing how she starts belting around 2:30-2:45. What a versatile voice!

I've got a pair of open-back sennheiser hd58x jubilees that I seriously need to put on right now, I've been following Monica's career for the last year and a half.
It's truthfully the mix, it's so on point, I can hear the individual instruments so clearly, even the smaller nuances that are lost in a muddy mix, it's gorgeous, and rightfully so, it deserves it.
