@@Merciless_Zero Well, I can understand that, I personally don't mind, unless is something like Mortal Kombat or action games that are relying heavily on performance and visuals, otherwise I'm ok with my Switch.
@@Merciless_Zeroi have a PC that can run every RPG in this video at 4k60 and i'd still rather play them on Switch because nothing beats portable JRPGs.
Gonna have to finally give Octo a try I've heard for years how great it is but then when I investigate the actual game it just never sounded that great to me
Crazy how I am still playing Fire Emblem Engager today, months after finishing it. I built my characters, they are all op and fun to use, ready to deploy, and I make challenges, I put only two characters in a map and have them compete who gets more kills and things like that, it is really fun. This never happened before, to where I come back to a game months after finishing it, no new game plus nothing like that, but still play it.
Dragon quest 11s is by far the best rpg on the Nintendo switch and in my opinion best jrpg ever and I am not a Japanese lifetime dq fan I just saw an ad for it one day and bought it on a wim and it quickly entered my 5 best games all time so it’s silly to me how many people try to say it’s not even top 5 on the switch even with recency bias for other games which I’m positive is playing a huge part
😁👍 I finally managed to buy a Switch Oled the beginning of 2023 because I wanted to play the Fire Emblems games. I own seven older Fire Emblem games. I am slowly building a new collection. I have six of the games on your list. And there are several games you mentioned on my list to buy. 😁 👍 😆
Thanks to your list I gave Unicorn Overlord a chance and I am LOVING this game. FE3H is my top pick, which is hard to choose between that and Persona 5.
Really enjoyed the first Octopath Traveller. But when I had 60 hours in and realized I had to grind hours more for the characters I wasn't playing with I quit playing. lol
I am wondering why Fire Emblem Engage is high up but Three Houses wasn't even mentioned yet but...behold it was there! 😄❤ From GBA era (Sacred Stones the GOAT) to modern console era, Fire Emblem series is just absolutely top tier.
Unicorn Overlord came out of nowhere this year and ended up being one of my favourites of all time despite front loading the most well rounded content while the later part of the game felt repetitive and a bit more stale. I'm playing through it again a fourth time as we speak. This and Fire Emblem 3 houses were the big standouts on the switch for me, both with stupid amounts of hours.
Dude I forgot about breath of fire. That seriously needs a remake. I think it'd be awesome to see ryu changing into a dragon modern day. His name was always Ryu right? Been awhile lol
The voice acting in Square Enix's recent games have kept me from playing more of their games. I don't remember it being a problem with the 1st Octopath, DQ11 had some good and some very bad VA, and Trials of Mana was so bad I liked it... But Bravely Default II broke me, it was irredeemably bad, and now its the first thing that notice in all their games. I couldn't get into Triangle Strategy or Star Ocean 2R because of it. It's a directing problem more than anything else.
It'll be a crime if Ys VIII is not on the list...it's already an abomination that DQ XI S is not in the top 3. ( I feel it's #1), but that's me.. I see it's just turn based...so Ys VIII won't be on here!
The other systems may have graphics but switch has the funniest games and it probably that's why it my favorite console of all time I'm a switch super fan
Octopath Traveler 2 is definitely my favorite turn-based RPG on the Switch. Really, it's my favorite RPG in general from this entire generation! Also, I wish I could get into Monatwr Hunter Stories... I tried so many times, pushed through about 25 hours of the 2nd game but couldn't get into it.
Not really, there is turn based RPG’s, Action RPG’s, and Strategy RPG’s, not to mention other genere’s OJ likes, so your probably getting confused with the other videos he created about those.
I'm going to say this but i didn't really like three houses. Don't get me wrong it was a good game, not the best, but as a fire emblem? No. When i played it, it didn't feel like a fire emblem game because of 90% of the monastery, they removed the weapon-triangle, 2 of the routes were copies, 1 was incomplete, only one was good and the dlc was a mess. The maps had nothing especial, all were kill boss and no map was unique. It felt like persona with the calendar and the side quests. Edelgard was a terrible villain and claude had nothing to the plot, you could remove him from the game and nothing would change. The things i did like were the combat arts and dimitri's character. I know i might get hate but i just found engage much more enjoyable to play rather than three houses.
I agree, three houses definitely did not feel like fire emblem, even if it’s story and world building is definitely good, I don’t think that makes up for its poorly designed map and bad map objectives. I think engage is good gameplay wise, but story wise it’s cringe and definitely not a game I will replay, I think the music in fire emblem engage was good but not nearly as good as three houses and past fire emblem games. The map design of engage is good, but still not nearly as good as fire emblem Conquest. In my opinion a game that combines all of the best aspect of Conquest gameplay, map design and map objectives with three houses story telling and level of music and character writing. I want a fire emblem game that combines all of the best aspects of previous iteration of fire emblem games. Pair up mechanic in Fates was really good so seeing it return in future entries is good, instead of trying to constantly reinvent the wheel and making use of new mechanics I rather see the return of previous mechanics in some fire emblem games.
Agreed, the monastery and the generic map design killed the game for me. Honestly they need to completely get rid of the monastery BS in future entries. Even in Engage I found the somniel stuff to be too invasive
Tactics Ogre instead of Triangle Strategy for me. Triangle Strategy was way too much loading screen, lore dumps and exposition and not enough actual game. Tactics Ogre got it about right. Enough story to carry the game - but not a book full. I read a lot anyway, and if I wanted a story - I would read a book. When I turn my console or PC on I want to play a game
Daybreak at #18… Yea right, top 5 for sure, or top 10 for those that insist on placing all three Xenoblade games in the top 5. The game was amazing, and one of the few long-running series that knows how to make a proper ending to a game together. Also, the Orbment system in this game is filled with a crazy amount of potential customization options and build types, if they all eventually lean towards each character’s strengths. I’m sorry, Falcom is way too under-rated for how efficient they are at churning out good games, and great JRPGs. I’ve played every Trails game in the serried, and there isn’t a single one I found to be bad or a bore to finish. Some were definitely inferior to others, but I only noticed that in hindsight truth be told.
Daybreak is kinda bad The battle system is interesting... for the first 30 hours but then become repetitive in both action and turn The characters are all underdeveloped, villains are a uninteresting, story is weak and almost nothing interesting happens for the majority of the time The maps are bland and the monsters are the same from Cold Steel games
There is no such thing as a BEST RPG as they are all shite. Sorry, but I played Persona 5 and the first 5hrs of dullness I couldn't stay awake through it.
This is why I LOVE my Nintendo Switch, definitely my favorite console of all time.
The console can barely run Smt 5 vengeance 😭, luckily I bought it for the ps5 for better performance and visuals.

Triangle Strategy is a masterpiece. No one talks about it!!
Putting Three Houses and SMT V Vengeance in the top 2 automatically makes this one of the best RPG lists.
Also putting FFIX in the top 5 and as the best FF

I'm really happy that you highlighted Triangle Strategy and Fire Emblem Three Houses! I liked these two a lot!

I feel like octopath has definitely overshadowed bravely this generation. I'm still waiting for a proper follow-up to the first two bravely games
Great list. Recently finished Dragon Quest XI S. It starts out slow and generic, but by Act 2 the hype is maximum.
I would put Dragon Quest XI S as number #1

Dragon Quest XI-S is actually the best of them all. Many of your picks make sense but some of the ordering of it is super whack.
